Happy birthday Simpson

Draining it will get rid of the fluid, but not prevent it from building up again which is what grommets are for. For your hearing to work properly you have to have air in your middle ear, if your eustacian tubes get blocked no air gets to it and it fills with fluid.

Madmouse for you feeling so sad. i had grommets in when i was about 4, vague memories of packing a suitcase, old ladies spoiling me in the ward and lots of ice-cream afterwards
oh and my hearing is fine now!

lazy day here, T watching a film, H sleeping, me ironing.
we should all be out enjoying the sunshine really!

Dh coming home earlyish tonight (well for him, not before dcs bedtime or anything useful!) so we may try and go out for dinner somewhere. cheer me up a bit.

having a bit of a wobble about monday night tbh. feel like i don't like the back garden anymore - as if it's its fault for letting them in weird i know.
keep going through the what ifs... and if onlys...
not so bothered by losing my laptop but it is a pain not being able to do things as easily as before.
meant to be booking flights for a family visit to friends in jersey in august and my laptop would be so quick to check prices, dh's desktop is pretty slow and annoying!

sorry enough waffling, pizzas ready for tea best go!

simpson · 23/04/2009 17:21

JKS - not surprised you are having a wobble Glad that DH is coming home early and you get to go out though...

Madmouse - Ah that explains it on the ear front. J had a bad ear infection last Oct and after that I noticed his hearing wasn't as good. He has fluid in one ear but probably due to infection iyswim...

Hope you are ok though...you know where I am if you need me

M eying up J's tea again tonight

M's tantrums have been quite horrific today

but we have major news!! M took some steps holding onto my hands for the first time

She has been pulling herself up for ages now but doesn't move anywhere iyswim but I think has now twigged that she can cruise around. She is also trying to stand not holding onto anything but no where near doing that yet...

AngeChica · 23/04/2009 18:25

out now at DH school awards (taking DS - hope he sleeps in buggy). more later x

LaTrucha · 23/04/2009 20:59

JKS - Hope DH is giving you loads of cuddles. You'll make friends with the garden again. Gove yourself a bit of time. You're bound to have some kind of reaction.

Ange - Congrats on Roy Keane - (if you like your team being shouted at )

simpson - hope you had a good birthday.

Madmouse - sorry I didn't get back to FB. I hope you're ok.

Thanks housemum - na dhi1

Gingeme - what blissful words they would be to me 'only daddy could settle him / her' Some chance! Hope your book is good and George is too tonight!

Have nay of you got any idea how to value second-hand furniture. i've got to give a price for furntiure to the guy who is buying mum's house. V. Confused. Don't even know what topic to put it under here.

LaTrucha · 23/04/2009 21:00

Simpson you on fb tonight for final details??

I am better thanks, went to see close friends last night, was there for hours talking and they prayed for me. Was very emotional but good. Promptly had no flashbacks last night.

Angechica - hope the awards evening went well?

LaT - not sure DH really 'gets it' IYKWIM just hope i feel better as time goes on.
How does your keyboard do that???
Not much clue on the furniture - look on eBay for starting prices/selling prices for similar things?

Madmouse - sounds like lots of serious things worrying you at the moment, just hope something gets sorted soon and this time becomes a blurry memory.
H gets sooo excited if you give him an empty cup to pretend with

Gingeme - so will your parents still meet up when at yours? is that going to be weird for you all? hope not stressful.

well, good news here, got DH's laptop connected so i can surf & watch tv at the same time again
the H & M keys are dodgy though so apologies in advance for weird typos....

had fab afternoon with 2 friends and their DCs in the garden. then DH came home and cooked at the kids some tea and made up a jug of Pimms for the grown-ups!
lovely.

watching a Lewis (and hoping DH makes dinner soon as starving!).

hope everyone doing ok and looking forward to a good weekend

nicky6 · 25/04/2009 14:41

Hi all
sorry not been off for a bit but been very busy indeed. So a quick up date.

Just under 10 weeks til number 2 arrives - yikes!!!!!!!

So not ready for it yet but there we are.

My case got put back which is very annoying as I would be finishing to go on maternity leave next week otherwise anywayi will be finished by end of may so should have 4 weeks.

Charlie very gorgeous and very funny, her speaking is so much that it is almost comical the latest is when i go to the cupboard to a cup charlie says cup of tea and also says I can see it when trying to find things and points to the drawer in the kitchen and says keys outside ball kick kick very funny indeed, we have our first tooth and charlie can now do some steps by herslef although is not walking on her own yet. SHe can also climb a set of stairs at rapid rate of nots.

must go as charlie just woke up xxx

LaTrucha · 25/04/2009 15:46

Nicky - how exciting expecting number two! You'll never feel ready I guess. Not even when the new baby is at school! Annoying about the case.

Madmouse - how are you? I haven't been brave enough to give Sabela the cup yet. We'll all get wet when I do!

Gingeme - must be stressful helping out your parents in their split. Hope you're doing ok.

JKS - I was anxious for a few weeks after our burglary but it wore off. I have no idea how the keyboard does that - especially as this is a different computer!

Simpson - Hope LO is behaving herself today and that you did get some cake at least. How do you define a tantrum? Do they go on for ages? Sabe;a protests at things she wants or doesn't want but it doesn't go on for long. Unless she's in her pram

Can't say Sabela is really talking except for mama, papa, and hello/hola/hiya noise depending on her situation. She occasionally says words - like 'baby' or, yesterday, 'strawberry' but she usually doesn't say them again. I think she's storing them up. She is mad keen to walk but too afraid still. Even though she knows the carpets here don't really hurt.

Having a rest as having a bleurghy day. Was clearing out mum's house and then got home to find the vicar discussing Dad's funeral arrangements here. Ugh. Can't believe this is really all happening.

simpson · 25/04/2009 17:00

Hi all

Just got back from meeting madmouse

Had a lovely day and weather was good too

Took both Dcs who behaved themselves but pizza express looked a bit wrecked!!

Madmouse - M ate that jar on the way back and now is going to have some fruit, will see how much she manages...

J out on bike with his little friends.

Thanks so much for pressie/lunch

More later after DCs fed etc....

madmouse · 25/04/2009 17:21

Hello

Also just back. Pizza Express was not that wrecked, we even cleaned all the food off the floor after Molly and Nathan were finished!!!

Was lovely to meet J who is a gorgeous little fella and M's tantrums are not half as bad as Simpson thinks although it got comical when Simpson took J to the toilet and Molly tried to climb out of the high chair to go after them, so I picked her up to distract her which set Nathan off, cue all the restaurant watching us.

LaT big hugs my girl you know where I am when you want to chat xx

Waves to the rest!

OP posts:
simpson · 25/04/2009 18:09

true, we did tidy up!!

Well M going to bed, she has done 2 poos in the space of 10mins lets hope she doesn't do anymore overnight!!

Bless her, all that fresh air has tired her out so she should sleep well

LaT - thinking of you ((hugs)) hope you are ok...

Lilyloo · 25/04/2009 20:48

Evenin all

Back from hols nice and rested and even have a suntan lol

Just had a quick scoot through.

JKS about Monday hope your ok.

Mmouse can imagine the news r/e Nathan floored you

Lucky hope you enjoying the hol and is it A with her first tooth ??

Simps yeah on M taking some steps and happy belated birthday.

LaT things must be really tough at the mo i remember walking in on my mum discussing funeral arrangements with priest , not nice.

Nicky wow 10 weeks that has flown by. Are you all ready then ??

Mixedm M had her first smack on the hand this week. She kept opening the oven door in the caravan. She was very upset but sometimes the safety things are just too scary a prospect. A 'no' is no help if he has ran into the road !

Gingeme have a good weekend with your mum. Glad to hear our dad is getting used to the new place. Must seem really weird for you.

Hi to anyone else i missed!!

LaTrucha · 25/04/2009 21:47

Hi Lily!

AngeChica · 25/04/2009 21:49

Hi all

am still buzzing on Dh's behalf - he did a tandem skydive today which was part of his 40th celebrations - party next weekend. A braver man than I - hate flying so could never do it!

The awards do was great - DS met Jackie Charlton - they were both born in Ashington Also met Paralympian Stephen Miller who was really inspiring.

hope you're OK JKS - a burglary is such a violation, it happened a lot when I lived in west end of Newcastle as a student which was a very lawless place then!

Madmouse I was a classic ENT kid ... tonsils, adenoids, grommets twice, but they saved me from the pain of the ear infections which I remember as excruciating so it's better for Nathan not to have to suffer that believe me!

went to see one of BF's gorgeous 10 day old baby boy yesterday and DS seemed like such a hulk next to him! BF had a very speedy labour and their DS was nearly born on the floor of the hospital reception!

Right, to bed, am driving to Suffolk tomorrow A week off work, yippee!

simpson · 26/04/2009 09:30

Morning all

Hope everyone is ok?

J is very excitied this morning as we are having Sunday dinner at my mum's then going to the fun fair

He keeps telling me all the rides he wants to go on...lets hope it lives up to expectations!!

M greeted me with another poo this morning

Lilyloo - Hope you had a good time?

Ange - enjoy week off

JKS - hope you are ok?

LaT - Was it you asking about M's tantrums?

Well she has lots of them mainly at home when fighting over toys with J (I would say at least 20 a day!!) but they are over pretty quickly. Maybe a minute for each one and distraction works best ATM

Madmouse - how are you today?

LaTrucha · 26/04/2009 16:36

hello all,

Feeling a bit down today as Sabela's on another spell of awful sleep. She often wakes up once, but now she's waking lots. She is teething but I also know it's my fault as she's been shifted about so much. As soon as she's settled we seem to needto move her again. She was sleeping all the way through before we went to Spain. I feel we've done everything to stop her sleeping well and with things as they are, it's not going to change in the forseeable future. And I'm very tired! Feel like I'm the only one with a badly sleeping baby now and it's my fault!

madmouse · 26/04/2009 17:01

LaT I can say I am sure you are not the only one, but that is not the point, the fact is that YOU and SABELA are having a hard time right now.

Seeing all the things I blame myself for I am not in a very good position to tell you not to blame yourself but I will anyway .

All you were going to do after careful planning is move to Spain for a bit. Sabela would have been unsettled, but soon settle again and that would have been that. The fact that your father got so very ill was not of your doing.

Sabela will settle again. Do what you have to do to keep going for the moment. You will get through it. Thinking of you.

Hi Simpson, hope you have a good time on the fair.
