Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mellymell · 01/04/2009 15:23

Hi - it's been a while for me, but the stalwarts of this thread have kept it going amazingly. Glad you all well and still chatting. Thanks.

Just a quick update from me. Tom (DS2 DOB 21.6.08) is enormous - a complete Buddha baby, too fat to do anything more than bum shuffle - but with a bit of a pin head. Hope the body elongates otherwise he is going to look a trifle strange.

The move up to Manchester has stalled - noone is looking for houses in Clapham like ours and until we find someone to rent it, we can't move and I can't get a job. Very frustrating. However, having been up to the area we might live in up there - I have never seen so many porsches / aston martins / range rovers - am a bit worried my kids are going to feel like poor relations.

Rolf · 01/04/2009 15:46

Hi Mellymell . That's a shame about the house move. Are you and/or your DH lawyers? Sorry if I'm not remembering correctly? Are you sorry the move has stalled or content to stay where you are?

mellymell · 01/04/2009 16:12

Hya Rolf - hope all well with you.

Well remembered - my DH is a lawyer and has been working up in Manchester on a weekly basis since last August.

Mixed feelings about the move. Am keen to be a whole family again, although the weekly commuting isn't too bad. However, when I go up north, the opportunities and lifestyle are so much more inviting than here in London. Also, there was a job possibility which has now faded away because of the delays in moving there which is a right pain.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 01/04/2009 16:47

A couple of sheep photos have been added, will get some more once I go in with them.

Amberc · 01/04/2009 16:49

Wow - it's like a sheep infestation! Must be really noisy!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 01/04/2009 16:52

Surprisingly not, they only really get noisy for about 10 minutes when they are fed, other than that they are very quiet, unless they make a fuss which this lot might well do as this lot are the youngsters.

neenztwinz · 01/04/2009 17:19

Any news from Abdn and Josey re the helicopter crash in the North Sea? Thinking of you both xx

Not had chance to catch up today cos been out and just making DTs' tea but wanted to see if A and J had been on. Fingers crossed.

spongebrainmaternitypants · 01/04/2009 17:59

neenz, I had also thought of J and AH when I heard the news - keeping everything crossed that their dhs weren't involved .

Btw, my mum raised four kids and worked f/t too which is why I know about Findus crispy pancakes ! In fact, you have now started a crazy nostalgic craving for them - will have to go shopping tomorrow .

Essie, ouch on the tooth .

poppy, please provide a link to said thread - always enjoy a good ruck!

mellymell, good to hear from you.

Amber, didn't realise you were tying to sell your flat? The market is so crap at the moment I don't think anything is selling is it?

sybil, that sounds full on .

spongebrainmaternitypants · 01/04/2009 18:00

5, love the sheep pics!

parofleurmapu · 01/04/2009 20:27

systems glad you are getting help

Rolf

Aberdeen and josey - hope all well

neenz- Im a TA so anything you want to know re qualifications etc let me know also teaching routes as ive researched it all b4. And being TA isnt always 9 to 3pm it depends on what sort of TA you are and what school expects of you. I plan ESL lessons twice a week, teach alot of the lessons and Plan and teach SEN classes so alot of prep too

Poppy and Ali- didnt go to cambridge but its where im from back home and where wedding will be

Paro gives Viva Puree and goingto a wave too!! HIya hope you both Ok

UDC - Hows things?

essie - hope dentist trip goes well

On the fleur front, lots of standing holding onto sofa etc made us realise we need to babyproof house.

Also need some help re feeding, she has reallly changed eating wise and im not sure if im doing ok, she is happy and weight wise fine but want to know if all ok with what we do.
As you know she was puree fed with some finger foods, however she refuses all purees now except breakfast, fruit purees and yogs so anything else has to be eaten witth fingers ie noodles and beef yesterday!!! (No spoon allowed not even herself she just throws it on the floor, will keep giving her one though) im fine with this and she has 4 bottom teeth and 3 top teeth so no probs there. However BLW people and others im worried she is not getting enough and enough variety. She eats til she doesnt want more. This was todays routine:

7am Awake
7.30 am Mango and weetabix cereal puree)with 4oz milk mixed in and Juice
8.30am- 9.30am sleep
10.30am 7oz FF and rusk
13.30pm 1 half of roll with cream cheese and cucumber and 1 baby muller yog and Juice
15.30pm - 16.15 sleep
16.15 5oz FF and dried apricots
18pm Pasta and meatballs, Blueberries and cereal puree
19pm 8oz FF
19.15pm BED was sleeping through but now wakes at 3pm demanding food

So any help greatly appreciated!!

parofleurmapu · 01/04/2009 20:29

Rolf forgot to write something to you!!!
and Hello!!

spongebrainmaternitypants · 01/04/2009 20:49

paro, sorry you're still feeling crap .

A also won't be spoon fed except for his breakfast and yoghurts! His routine looks pretty similar to F's except he doesn't have any solids with his bottles.

I know Neenz and others swear by lots of carbs last thing to aid sleep, so maybe try this?

Otherwise, if she's fine weight-wise I wouldn't worry.

Still no news from J and AH?

poppy34 · 01/04/2009 20:51

for sponge see if you can spot the post

amber a viewing is somethign but it does sound very frustrating and know what you mean re new borns. I used to think about once an hour how do people have more than one

mellymel lovely to hear from you though sorry house sale is slow.

and totally agree sybil that children far more demanding, less thankful than working -they don't beleive in working time, breaks etc

neenz good point -fingers crossed for them both ..just too awful.

nothing much else to say -edie actually enjoyed her play dates wtih frend from babygroup (Well in as much as she was stealing toys and playing dog in a manger with hers) but was actualy interested in other kids rather than crying/not noticing. thumbs up to nanny for htat. Oh...and edie narrowly missed doing a poo on dh in the bath much to my amusement

parofleurmapu · 01/04/2009 21:05

Thanks sponge! glad to hear someone is the same!! Only just started introducing a snack into her routine so as to cut down on a few more bottles in the future

Wondering if the 10.30 am bottle stops her wanting lunch? and same in pm, will look up carb foods i always get mixed up with whats what !!!hehe

Poppy just read that thread and saw post i wouldnt fess up personally as it seems OP hasnt noticed

vivaGlasvegas · 01/04/2009 21:17

mellymell are you thinking of moving to Wilmslow/Hale/Bramhall/Alderley Edge by any chance? the description sounds like my home town!

SAHMs - I love the mum bit and the cooking bit but not so keen on the laundry/cleaning/washing up bits. I am loving working 3 days though, seems just about the right balance for me.

OMG have just noticed the time - the apprentice has started

viva waves and dashes off while apologising for not answering anyone's posts...

parofleurmapu · 01/04/2009 21:27

Ah so thats where you all are, watching Apprentice I wont get to see it til 2morro

poppy34 · 01/04/2009 21:40

thanks paro - will hold off discussing apprentice til tomorrow as know neenz hasn't seen it either.. my firm is featured on it. And agree that I'll keep my head down - shame tho as OP was kind to me when I needed nanny advice. and re routine you're very simialr to edie -but has breakfast later (about 9 after bottle at 7.30) and no snacks with her milk. am toying with moving her lunchtime bottle to teatime as seems to want it more then.

DebInAustria · 01/04/2009 22:15

Systems - hope things start improving for you soon

Abdn - you made me laugh with your descriptions of yourself - "Canadian tight fisted etc etc...

Sybil - good luck for tomorrow's mammoth after school runs you've got to do

Paro - the viewing's on Saturday, any advice from your dp welcome!!Your allergic reactions sounds itchy. Ethan has milk on waking, after breakfast(about 9 ish) and after lunch ( about 2 ish), then bedtime.

Amber - that no-one wants your flat, must be gutting to have to reduce it so much

Five - wow, I thought you meant a few sheep,

Mellymell, nice to see you popping in, sorry things are slow for you on the house front too.

DebInAustria · 01/04/2009 22:18

also hello to everyone else not around/lurking at the moment- Puree, Whinegums, Penguin, Libralady, Allnew, Josey etc..

Abdn and Josey - let us know everything's OK.

AliandHerScallywag · 01/04/2009 22:50

Cant keep up, but have to share this with you...

DH did P's bath and bed tonight. He normally settles very quickly now, normally without any crying. Tonight though he cried for about 15 mins and then stopped. So DH is saying: "I wonder what I have done wrong", as a joke. We just went up to bed and I found P's sleeping bag on our bed. Yes, DH forgot to put P in any kind of bedding and just put him in his cot. I felt really sad when I checked on him as he was the wrong way round tummy down in just a babygro . Poor baby!

Poppy: so thought it was your office on the Apprentice tonight. I don't think it is a spoiler to say what a load of muppets they all are

Paro. Hello! Sorry you are still poorly. Fleurs food sounds fairly similar to P's. You have discovered my stealth weapon of dried fruits (I now have bags of dates, prunes, apricots and figs on the go)! P only has one tiny bit of tooth so big bits of meat aren't a big hit here and I worry about him getting enough protein and iron.

neenztwinz · 01/04/2009 22:55

Paro, will she eat Oatibix? I always give my two an Oatibix each after their tea (the big biscuits not the bitesize). Is she definitely hungry at 3am? Could it be a reaction to something she's eaten (we often get a 3/4am wake-up call if E has salmon or tuna for her lunch).

I have really enjoyed reading all your remarks about SAHMs and working and which you prefer - but I have read them over two/three MN sessions so can't remember everything I wanted to say in reply! But the one thing that has stuck in my head is it seems some of us think we are not up to scratch - stop putting so much pressure on! My house is not spotless nor are my children entertained/stimulated every minute they are awake (and I use Medised sometimes if they wake in the night and won't go back to sleep! ). The thing I like best about being a SAHM is the two hours at lunch when the DTs sleep and I get to MN or watch telly! I do make DH's sandwiches though

I have spent the evening trying to sort out childcare - the CM I liked can't have the DTs now (check out my FB profile for the full boring story!). Got to go to bed now!!

DebInAustria · 02/04/2009 07:33

Just checking for news from Abdn and Josey. Hope everything's OK.

pleasechange · 02/04/2009 07:46

Hi all - was also thinking about AH and josey

Sorry have been away for so long. I'm finding it hard to fit everything in with being at work!

debs thanks for missing me! And good luck for the viewing

poppy, sounds like you work for the same firm I used to work for (although I'm up north)

Sorry haven't got around to reading all the posts yet

mellymel let me know when you move up here, you will be very close to me (except no porsches etc, in the bit I'm in!). I know what you mean though!

sponge glad to see lo is ok

abdnhiker · 02/04/2009 09:01

sorry to worry everyone - I hoped Josey would make it on last night - we were texting each other. Our families are both okay. Absolutely terrifying though, DH and I were both really upset last night and we've agreed he's not going to go offshore for a month and see if any results come of the investigation first.

Will catch up on posts now - I have my parents visiting so I'm not on the computer as much.

neenztwinz · 02/04/2009 09:01

Also checked in to see if AH and Josey have logged on. There is nothing on either FB profiles either .
