MJreturns · 11/03/2009 10:39

Good luck to your SIL NL! So exciting
Hope the phone call to the education department gets you what you want too

SOL, I almost feel relieved for you as I could hear the stress in your posts about the change of job. I am really glad that you have made a decision you are truly happy with

SPB, hope T is ok today. F isn't quite right but isn't poorly either iykwim. Might try a bit of calpol and see if it makes any difference!

Runny, dh being at home at a sensible hour makes a huge difference to your day to day life. Lovely to hear you sounding so happy

Nothing much happening here today. Was in work for a meeting (all day ) yesterday and off to another meeting in Leicester tomorrow. I have to get a very early train which I am really not looking forward to, then normal work on Friday.
Have ds's friend over for tea later too!

CaptainDippy · 11/03/2009 11:09

OOOOOOH!! NL< let us know the outcome of both situations!!!

elkiedee · 11/03/2009 11:48

I guess NL is at work, I want to know her news on SIL and phone call now!

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2009 11:58

How are things going with you elkie?

Northernlurker · 11/03/2009 12:22

at work so in haste but I have a new niece!!! (well my first niece actually) - no weight or name yet and we have a place at our first choice school! I am totally over excited

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 11/03/2009 12:23

oh and yes she was full term - 40+3 actually

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2009 12:23

That's wonderful!

MJreturns · 11/03/2009 12:25

Woohoo NL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful news on both counts!

Sexonlegs · 11/03/2009 12:44

NL, I am delighted for you!!!!!! Fabulous news. x

I have had a re-think about the job. When I spoke to the guy yesterday he suggested we talk about the hours, working pattern etc, as this was what was worrying me. As you know, I said no. I have emailed him to see whether he would go for slightly reduced hours (only 1.5 hours a week in fact) as the job would be perfect for me.
I am awaiting his response!!!!!

I expect it will be a no, as I have messed about. I guess if you don't ask you don't get!!!

MJreturns · 11/03/2009 12:53

The plot thickens SOL!

Bramshott · 11/03/2009 12:58

NL - that's fantastic news!

elkiedee · 11/03/2009 14:57

I'm ok SPB - am having a lazy day at home today. Time seems to be passing remarkably quickly - I slept for a while when C did which helps, but he's now woken for a feed.

Still a bit nervous about the hospital - last Thursday I was told he should be putting on about 50g a day, not likely on mostly breastmilk - we're still reluctantly giving some post feed formula top ups but it's only been a couple, and I'd sooner dispense with them altogether. He has been putting on weight but not, in their view, enough, though he looks healthy enough generally.

My local health visitor team is much better on this kind of thing than the hospital paediatricians generally, so I'm hoping that we can move over to their care. We saw the HV yesterday and he's now over 5 kg.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2009 15:01

elkie, tell me to butt out but what exactly is the issue with his weight? I know he lost some soon after birth. Is there anything else? Surely if he's otherwise healthy then they should be leaving you to it rather than giving you targets for how much he should be putting on!
Apologies, I don't really know what I'm talking about though, and understand there are some situations where weight does need to be really carefully monitored.
at your lazy day, though I'm having a lazy ish afternoon and am off for 3 days next week

elkiedee · 11/03/2009 15:57

SPB, thanks for asking.

I've started a thread attempting to explain in, though my post is a bit waffly.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2009 16:09

thanks elkie
Will be interesting to see what responses you get. I'll bump it if I see it needs it - MN is so quiet these days!

elkiedee · 11/03/2009 16:10

Yes, looking at "threads I'm on" is depressing, so many I'm the last post on! I'm a threadkiller.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2009 16:13

yeah
(only said that so that doesn't apply to this thread )

Doobydoo · 11/03/2009 19:39

HURRAH...NL
SOL...I am pleased for you and do hope you get it worked out to your satisfaction.I also hope your mum is continuing to do well.xx
Runny am so pleased at how happy you sound
MJ...Hope you are all ok.Early starts[yuck]
SPB...How is T doing and how are you feeling?
Dp hasn't heard re job and thinks he prob hasn't got it as would have heard by now.I don't know how long NHS takes to tell people. He felt quite positive about it which is unusual for him.
Hi to everyone else.Have good evening.
I will look at your post Elkie.xxxxxxxxxxxx

leakyR · 11/03/2009 21:28

Congrats on the school place and new niece NL!

SOL glad you've made a decision that you're happy with. You don't need any more stress this year!

RH sounds like the change of job for dh is doing you all good.

Elkie - hope eveything goes well at hospital. All comments on your thread say the same thing: after a shaky start, you and C are doing well. hope their advise and comments help you.

Tired today. G has a rotten cold and was so unsettled and upset last night that I ended up in the spare bed with him from 12.45.He slept ok but a hot, wriggly, coughing toddler, combined with my inability to get comfortable and my frequent loo visits means that I did not really sleep.

Got GTT tomorrow. Hope it's clear as I can't have my homebirth if I've got gestational diabetes. Unlikely that I have, baby not measuring big and I was only .1 over the normal range on my last fasting blood sugar test. Have to take my own glucose drink to the hospital!

elkiedee · 11/03/2009 23:15

NL, saw your post earlier but only half read it, sorry, congratulations and good that the school place has come through.

Sorry Dooby about dp's interview, hope that they're just being really slow - I've never been for an NHS interview - NL, SPB, MJ, what's your experience been there?

Good luck for tomorrow Leaky.

Northernlurker · 12/03/2009 00:16

Well niece has a name - two in fact

She's Hannah Louise and was 7lb 5oz. Sounds like sil did fantastically but is v tired now. We are all so excited and happy for them - big girls thrilled to bits

Dd1 was also absolutely over the moon about the school place - in fact she burst into tears I don't think even she realised how much it meant to her - so all good now anyway.

Elkie - had a quick look at your thread and agree. To say that a baby must gain a set number of grams per day is quite frankly bonkers! You are doing great - better than great - you've really kicked butt on this one and C is doing great. Don't be undermined - you are feeding your son well.

Dooby - nhs interviews can take a while - I always waited for occ health clearance and refs back befor offering a post. Lots of people don't - although policy says they should - but if there is a dealy likely it could just be that.

Right - off to bed now - it's been quite a day - thanks for all the congratulations - it is lovely to share the good times (and the bad) with you load of loons lovely ladies

i really ought to be getting ready for work instead of being on here but I just wanted to say NL i'm really pleased dd1 has her first choice school you must be very happy and congrats on the new neice! I want my sis to have babies so I can be an aunt one day maybe

All go here as usual, trying to sort out my full to the brim house, still trying to sort work hours(the ones I didn't do last year) and get more self employed work, busy busy.

Oh and dd read her first book the other day she was so pleased with herself, so cute!!!

liath · 12/03/2009 07:56

Great news on both fronts, NL!

All go here, it's dd's birthday party on sunday. Does anyone have any great tips for 4 year-old girl's parties (Dippy????)?. I'm doing it at home with traditional party games and there'll be 5 friends with 3 little siblings. Cheers!

StealthPolarBear · 12/03/2009 09:01

Dooby - NHS can take ages - when I applied for this job I heard nothing, and took another job! luckily it was a contract, because got this one about 3 months later.
When we interview it can be similar (although not usually that long!)
T is ok thanks, slept much better last night, and I have a cold...AGAIN! not fair! Hopefully this time won't be man flu though
