Thanks Rotter - It's not really night feeds/sleeping that is the problem, more the unsettled evenings, so i feel like i am just being drained, physically and mentally during ALL my waking hours by the constant BF. Now, i know i am in part to blame, as i just pop her on when she starts fussing and is probably not really hungry

With DD1 it was fine as she would take a bottle (with a little persuasion) so i could in essence 'resign' from BF at 5pm ish and DH take over. Now you see Formula is not really my answer UNLESS she decides it is SO tasty that she will tolerate the bottle in order to get it. Then obviously i will worry she will prefer formula to BF and not want to continue BF.

AAAAAHHHHHHHH - do you think i'm overthinking this one

No1 - {{{{hugs}}} if they will help.
There are days and weeks where it all gets too much aren't there. My mum, who had four children under seven, always said that she wanted just make it stop for a day so that she could get her breath back, which is exactly how I feel sometimes. When things get tricky and you're tired it's very hard to keep going. I found that it was when I was really tired that the impact of having two really kicked in because the chances to recoup are so fleeting.

We haven't used formula here but I'm feeling a bit trapped in the house, because I've been rubbish about expressing. I must try again before Christmas, but finding time while DS and DD1 have been sick on and off is tricky. I might have a go while DH is home this weekend. We've been snippy as hell with each other for days, so I've sent him to the English market in Cork (foodie heaven) to get some nice bits for tonight and we're going to try and spend sometime together being friendly to get back on track.

Ataraxis - after a web search that first produced plastic surgeons in Orange County I found this which might help.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 16:13

have tried an open cup, spouted cup, avent teats, tommee tippee teats......

the only think she does like is via the infacol pippette

SevenRottersPottering · 19/12/2008 16:22

Oh Sazz how frustrating, especially given the top ups she was taking when she was first born. Pesky babies! If she likes the pipette, wht about a turkey baster?

Sibh sorry to hear you're feeling a bit glum too. It's harder than I thought with 2 so 3 must be even harder. With you on the DH bickering too , I don't think they get just how utterly exhausting it is.

Still, chins up girls, it's nearly wine o'clock

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 19/12/2008 16:28

DS upstairs crying, he started screaming after baby massage - cant deal with it anymore so switched baby monitor off, just need 5 mins not hearing that cry

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 16:29

It is ridiculous when she was happily topping up 6x per day. Loking the turkey baster idea

sibh rotter is right, 3 is really tough, I cannot comprehend how all you Mummies of 3 cope, or single mothers.....respect to all

re rolling etc - remember my ds is one of the oldest on here and he's not managed it yet. Sometimes you can see he wants to and other times he's happy being a pudding a la Sazzle's dds . His problem is that he is a heffalump i think lol. at 18 weeks he was 18lb (no idea what he is now at 21 weeks - will see if clinic is open on Monday) and seems to have ishoos with pulling the rest of him over to on the odd occasion he's made it onto his side.

Dd was almost 6 months when she rolled over and she crawled at a pretty average 9 months so I'm not concerned.... (though when i took him to gp today and had to put him on his tum and he protested she asked several times how old he is, so I'm hoping i shouldn't be worried .....

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 16:31

Oh, Sambo - take a step out of the back door, scream very loudly, and step back indoors

{{{{Hugs}}}}}

This bloody depressing weather isn't helping either, is it?

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 19/12/2008 17:00

fussy clingy baby here today as well

i say we all go out the back door and scream with Sambo

no1putsantaupthechimney · 19/12/2008 17:10

thanks for all kind words, and the support on here is wonderful (welling up)

hugs to all that need them.

The tension with me and dh earlier was also tense.

Marcus will take bottle sometimes. When he refused, i decided to wait for the feed he most ready for, and he took it then. Not expressed much for ages, so been lax on the bottle trying too.

Tried earlier and only got 2 ounce. Think because I am not relaxed.

no1putsantaupthechimney · 19/12/2008 17:11

dh only words of support today
'and you want another one???'

aaaaaaaggggghhhhh

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 19/12/2008 17:12

thanks everyone, went back up after 3 mins and thankfully he fed and is now asleep. I think the crying fit at massage was tiredness as we now have no routine at all and he's up to feed twice a night minimum. Feel more myself now, had a little cry whilst he fed. Hope all are reinvigorated by the screaming

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 17:25

No1 I haven't expressed for ages as have been too lazy and Emma wasn't taking it so seemed pointless. I have expressed twice now this afternoon and have got 2oz both times. So DH will try the 4oz after bath this evening and i will express again then and hopefully have enough for a good feed for her to take when she should be hungry
Great emotional help these DH's eh?

sambo my scream was great . Glad DS has settled for a sleep, sometimes a couple of minutes letting out their tiredness seems to help them settle

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 19/12/2008 17:31

If I've said it once today I've said it a thousand times: STOP IT!

Now I've resorted to toddler behavior and told my dd1 that IT'S MY TURN (to eat) GO AWAY!!!!

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 19/12/2008 17:44

if anyone is in need of a laugh, i suggest reading a thread titled 'help, DS has made a large clay cock' dropped straight from the roflcopter, i tell thee!

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 19/12/2008 17:52

Cyteen I saw that one a while ago - hehe rofl. The 'do I display the work he's so proud of' dilemma. Priceless.

Sorry to hear of frustrations, and big hugs to those who need them. Sebastian has caught my cold already, and has a lovely chesty cough now.

ataraxmas · 19/12/2008 18:42

Bang! and the orange is gone! Yep, the horror that is Cillit Bang has worked a scary miracle. DH bought it and thinks it's great. It is such a male cleaning product don'tya think?

sibh lol at orange county plastic surgeons, although right now I feel like I could use one.

5 hours of Christmas holidays and I am ready to kill them already. Nowt but fighting since DS1 came home, and the whining is killing me .

How does 'I need 5 mins to myself' translate to muuuuum every minute in boy speak? Early night methinks.

and why the need to SHOUT about everything? I didn't even know that whining shouts were possible.

Hugs to everyone that needs them - seems like a rough day today. It is now officially alcohol time - although I was tempted at around 4.30 a la rotter and have been ever since...

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 18:59

Want to hear the good news?

Emma has drunk almost all the 4oz from her bottle, without fuss and gone to sleep on DH's lap . I think the key is waiting until she's really hungry for it. I will reserve judgement on success until we have had a full evening not using Mummy to settle her back to sleep if she wakes. Wish us luck...............

ataraxis - all the excitement of finishing school, holidays, Xmas and tiredness must be a nightmare combination - i feel for you and will join you in a glass of vino shortly once DD1 goes to bed. Good on the Cilit Bang - i love those adverts

OP posts:
ataraxmas · 19/12/2008 19:09

That's fab sazzles - fingers crossed she sleeps for a while.

I have agreed to one game of animal dominoes (hopefully without an argument) and then BED for them and large glass of red for me!

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 19:26

She has now finished that bottle and is on to defrosted stuff which is 3 1/2 months old but i figure will still be ok. I am now going to express again as i need to start restocking the freezer for New Year and my birthday

Tip to ataraxmas - let them win

OP posts:
FestiveGardenia · 19/12/2008 19:31

ataraxmas · 19/12/2008 20:17

wow - all 3 are in bed (and asleep!), I have a glass of wine to hand, and DH has gone out to get food. All is well in the world
