All I can here at back of my mind shouting whispering is formula, FORMULA FORMULA.

Like I am thinking it will miraculously make my life better atm

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 19/12/2008 11:58

another twice up for feeding night here.

Got my baby whisperer book out now, going to scour it for advice - got to find a way of getting ds to feed in the mornings again instead of during the night

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 19/12/2008 12:01

No1 waterbabies fab, DS loves it and does lots of splashing with his arms. I bought him a wetsuit for his christmas so we can go swimming en famile (sorry, French not my strong point, or spelling for that matter) after his 3rd injections in Jan

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 19/12/2008 12:08

Hi all. I've got a cold. Little man currently in his bouncy chair in need of a nappy change. Am trying to muster the energy to do it.
Haven't really caught up properly on the thread.
Dingdong - I don't know if anyone's answered you about the nappies, but I would say do NOT buy them in Mothercare, they don't have a great range so you might not get the best. If you get a two part system, it would cost less than £14 per nappy. ME Sandy's are £7.20 each then you need 4-5 wraps and you're good to go. Haven't heard good things about the Mothercare Smart nappies at all. Sorry if you've already had an answer.
Caveman - my house is an absolute tip. I've arranged that SIl will come and entertain Seb on monday, so I can get some serious cleaning done.

poppystocking · 19/12/2008 12:09

So much to catch up on, so sorry about all the things I'll miss.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Dizzy. Congrats on the car though!

No suggestions on the fridge stuff ataraxmas. Isn't orange the current fashionable colour in kitchens?

Poor you No1 with the sleep, and others struggling. So hope you get a better night tonight.

Rather a manic run around this morning. DH flew down late on Weds and we had a really lovely day yesterday. He was on a super early flight this morning to get back for work. Got to the airport in tons of time. Fecking ryanair though.... their IT systems were down and the checking in was taking much longer than normal. When it came to the time for the flight to go, they just shut the door leaving half the passengers behind, pointing to the small print that it doesn't matter why/whose fault it is that you're not able to board in time, if you can't that's it. So.... a quick break has turned out to be bloody expensive and rather longer than expected as DH is now sitting fuming on the train. You take your chance with ryanair but grrrrrr.

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 19/12/2008 12:13

Oh and ladies WE HAVE A CHRISTMAS TREE!! SIL and I went last night to B&Q and got one. they only had crappy ones that look like little bushes left but I took the only one that actually looks like a christmas tree. then had to go to matalan for decorations. so was walking round Matalan with my SIL following me around carrying a great big tree The funniest bit was when her coat button got caught in the netting, and I couldn't unbutton her. So we had two staff members trying to unbutton her from the tree. was fecking hilarious. One of them eventually went and got a craft knife and cut her free.

poppystocking · 19/12/2008 12:16

Re: slumlike houses, this is the advantage of decamping to my mother's. It can't get messy if we're not there . Only snag is that DH is there (or will be) ....

We took DD2 swimming when we were at centerparcs when she was about 9 weeks. She absolutely loved it. Haven't been since though as DD1 loves it too, meaning it would be a full family outing. Hopefully in the new year....

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 12:29

Hello all. Just popping on for 5 mins whilst both dd's are asleep. Tis a miracle of miracles, i tell you

DD1 was up twice in the early hours and has been a shocker this morning and Emma finally crashed about 10.30pm, woke up at 4am and i then dragged her up at 7.30 am to try and improve her night time sleep so she is cream crackered too. I must admit No1 i am having the formula whisperings too, although how this is going to help with DD1 waking us up i'm not sure .

Ooh, sorry to hear about MrStockings train detour. Such as shame as it casts a dampner on the good time you had and makes you cautious about doing such a thing again

Ann that sounds like a hoot, bet the Matalan staff were cheered by it too

poppystocking · 19/12/2008 12:43

Thanks sazzles. Yes, that's my worry too. Was such a nice thing to do and should have been so easy. Will just have to vanquish all ryanair are unpredictable b*stards thoughts from our minds.

LOL at your dream! Peter Andre singing... that is a frightening thought!

Oh and TS, Emily is rather keen on trying to roll. She's looked rather surprised when she suddenly flipped onto her back from front at the weekend and it's like she's on a listing boat now when she's having a kick around on the floor. Not managed the full twist though yet.

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 19/12/2008 12:56

Seb hasn't rolled yet. He manages to get from his back onto his side, but hasn't managed a full 180 degrees yet. I've tried to give him tummy time but he hates it. He sleeps on his tummy, but if he's awake and I put him down on his tummy he cries intsantly.

Sazzles - lol at Peter Andre dream. hehe. I've had strange dreams too, but can't remember any of them to recount here. My mum once dreamed that she electrocuted me She was all panicky because it was one of those realistic dreams. She also once dreamed that she ran over my brother in the car, and then reversed and ran over him again. She's also had SERIOUSLY strange dreams about our budgies being all pink and naked. Then again, my dad has had a couple of occasions where he's dreamed he was having a fight, and was actually pummeling my mum in his sleep. He's a very placid person btw and hits like a girl.

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 19/12/2008 13:14

Ack! i killed the thread

Re orange plastic, leave it out in the garden for a few days.

no1putsantaupthechimney · 19/12/2008 15:03

sambo glad you enjoyed the swimming. my dd loved it too, I felt guilty that I hadnt booked the course for ds too, but I cant always be sure someone is around to look after dd.

ann sorry you have cold, we still all getting over it here, seems to be lingering a while. mainly coughing here though.
pmsl at your tree/dec adventure

reminds me i once went to buy tree and trimmings and had my eye on one,but only had desplay one left, so they offered me a good discount.
As it was all trimmed with lights, it took ages to unravel fairy lights i offered to take it complete with trimmings. honestly looked like me and a friend had pinched it, carrying it through town to the car(was about 12yrs ago)
poppy sorry to here about your dh travel nightmare.

sazzles rofl at your dream, sorry have no idea what that means
re formula are you really tempted???

no1putsantaupthechimney · 19/12/2008 15:10

I am struggling this week.
I know they are ill,I know it will pass.
I know its because I am tired,but..........
he is very very clingy this week, i have not been able to put him down at all, he just screams.

think am just feeling fed up was invited out last night, but had no expressed milk,so coulnt go.
they were all saying/offering cartons of formula.'go on a few wont hurt'
i really wanted to go out,but felt guilty about the whole bf/ff
dd was` topped up with ff, worked perfectly for us.
so i suppose i am thinking i would like that whole set up again.
however.... i am aware no 2 babies are alike and it could make no difference.
its not because i want him to sleep through, its so i can have a break.
there iv admitted it, does that make me sound selfish??

no1putsantaupthechimney · 19/12/2008 15:12

he is now asleep in moby, but i would really love a soak in bath.grrrrrr

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 15:14

Oh i dunno, No1. At the end of a very tiring day when she won't sleep and is just feeding (for comfort) i just think it might be easier and give me a break. HOWEVER, she won't take a bottle of EBM so who's saying she will take formula. Also as i exclusively BF DD1 for 6 months i REALLY want to do the same for Emma. Finally i am worrying how my Dsis will look after her when i go out on my birthday if she isn't taking EBM and there isn't any evidence she will take formula

Head in the sand about it all at the mo and just continuing as we are. Think I will try and get DH to try a bottle of EBM each evening as he has finished for Xmas so we may be able to make it more routine for her to have this

OP posts:
SazzlesIsASleighBell · 19/12/2008 15:19

no1 that is anything but selfish. All of us need a break and i am going out on my birthday come what may. I KNOW Emma won't starve and i NEED some time out to just be ME for a day and then come back a better, refreshed Mummy. My DD1 has become really clingy (have just bundled her screaming into the car to go out with DH to give me a break from her) - It's really wearing so i know how you feel. SHame there's no magic cure eh?

OP posts:
OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 19/12/2008 15:40

mmm - ds is clingy too with the coldy thing he's got. he's a bit more like himself today but lord it's wearing.

re meetup- NOT 20th please as ds has his bcg that day....

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 19/12/2008 15:41

Totally agree with Sazzles, no1 - wanting some time to be you is completely natural and right. Having a night out for my birthday where I could dress up and be me made so much difference to my state of mind, so don't feel guilty whatever you do

Glad I'm not the only freaky dreamer They definitely get weirder the more broken my sleep becomes.

No rolling here either, just lots of very vigorous kicking and wriggling. I haven't given him very much tummy time either Ann - it just looks so knackering for him to be on his tummy, he only lasts five or ten minutes before getting frustrated and fed up. He is rather a serious little boy though, whenever he plays with things he has a look of intense concentration as if it is vitally important that he grab that toy/put that rattle in his mouth/kick those feet

Just got back from a toy-buying mission to town, god it was awful. Town was looking particularly scraggy today, chock full of shoppers rushing around, fagging themselves to death and squawking into their mobiles [snob emoticon] Also, I have had my eyes opened somewhat to the world of plastic tat available in Babies R Us - who knew you could buy a McDonalds Drive-Thru play centre? NO THANKS. Also resisted getting Joe a "My First Fax Machine" and succeeded in my aim of purchasing an inflatable play nest and some rattley bits. Going to sort it all out for him in a bit and see what he thinks.

SevenRottersPottering · 19/12/2008 15:48

No1 and Sazzles I feel your formula dilemma. I BFd DD exclusively for six months, (then she self weaned at 12m), through three episodes of mastitis where I would be feeding her withtears rolling down my face.

OK so with Isaac, I got it again when he was about 8 weeks old. It was horrific, my already H cup right breast seemed to be twice the size of the other and it was very painful to feed. The fact that FIL had just died totally unexpectedly, plus the fact that I wasn't getting any sleep this time round meant that I just lost my determination and started some FF. I felt sooooo guilty because I had persevered with DD but just didn't have it in me anymore .

Anyway, after a few weeks we got back to excl BF , there was no change in his sleep - still shit! Over the last few days I tried a FF dreamfeed to see if he would sleep longer, no change .

So it may or may not make them sleep better, but it got me the day off yesterday to go boozing I was leaking milk all the way home though .

SevenRottersPottering · 19/12/2008 15:53

Cyteen and Ann don't forget your babies are a few weeks younger than some on here! DS was born on 8/8/08 and he's only been rolling over for less than 2 weeks. Don't worry at all about tummy time either if they don't like it, they will still learn to sit up, crawl etc, just maybe a bit slower. In the grand scheme it doesn't matter!

SevenRottersPottering · 19/12/2008 16:08

Just another thought to those whose babies won't drink even expressed milk from a bottle, have you thought of trying frim a sippy cup? Not the unspillable ones, just one with a spout with holes in? Could never get DD to drink from a bottle but she took to those fine, I think because the milk just oozes out they've no choice but to drink it!
