Have been thinking about sticking Kurt in a spare (clean) nappy bucket, a la this. Is that awful? Could stick that in the bath with the big 2.

TS yeah baths (esp shampoos and bubbles) can definitely make skin dryer unless you add a super oily oil to it to protect them. DS1 has winter eczema and our bath is usually horribly greasy with E45 unless the cleaner's just been round.

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:00

I was meandering round waitrose today (and have to say that supermarkets in the uk are amazing, clean, light, and what choice ...) and was looking at reusable nappies. Are they really about £14 each? I guess that I would need about 20. This is really quite an investment ...

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:01

Buckets, I quite like that idea - but suspect that a bucket without rounded bottom corners might be a bit uncomfy?

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:06

ought to be doing something (anything) useful but am feeling fairly brain dead.

Plan for the night ...

dream feed when I go to bed

nice book by the bed so that when I wake up to feed him I am encouraged to do more than just hoik him into bed with me and he might get a proper feed before going back to sleep

we went to see Lincoln cathedral today and DS and I lit a couple of candles. very nice.

oh and we went swimming yesterday as a friend came to help. very good. she said useful things like keep him undressed for the shortest time possible so get him changed into swimming nappy last and out of wet things first. not sure I would want to do it on my own yet, as having several pairs of hands was quite useful.

also my maternity swimming costume rode up and was all floaty so not the best choice of swimwear.

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 18/12/2008 21:07

Tummy tubs look quite cool - but LWFH is prob right and it needs to be specific shape, i guss .
We've just been working on mil's xmas pressie - pics on a digi photo frame

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:08

la la la la la

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:09

Hello ALBS! the la la la la la was in general, not in reply to you!

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:10

yes, several people are getting (normal) photos of DS for Christmas - and lots of people to think about because so many people have given us stuff for him, or been so kind

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 18/12/2008 21:22

I LIKE that Tummy Tub thing.

  1. Pork Loin in the oven (just sprinkled with Lawrey's Seasoning Salt and Pepper)
  2. Potatoes on the stove simmering for what will be Mashed Potatoes
  3. Tea brewing (will be iced sweet tea, of course)

Now the stumper....do I fix green beans or pinto beans?????

Last item will be bread of some sort but that's a last minute thing.

Do I seem domestic today? I'm trying on a new look. Can't say it fits BUT anything's worth a try.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 18/12/2008 21:24

LOL PF and Sibh - there is usually more high drama than is apparent from my timetable

Emma is still awake here (so much for thinking things were improving ). She is currently lying on the sofa next to me gurgling and laughing making me and at the same time

LWFH swimming with them at this age is really difficult as they are SO helpless. I only realise this now with DD1 who is 2 and it is ever so much easier. My boobs keep trying to escape my pre-pg swimming costume which is very embarrassing. Think I will try and procure a larger one soon as they will make a successful bid for freedom soon

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 18/12/2008 21:26

TS i have the same reaction to iced sweet tea as you do carpeted bathrooms . Tea should be strong, hot, hot, hot and no hint of sugar in sight

OP posts:
SazzlesIsASleighBell · 18/12/2008 21:27

oh, and for the stumper - pinto beans

OP posts:
dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:32

pinto

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:34

but swimming was quite fun ... he didn't laugh or smile, but he didn't cry either, just lots of stare-y "not quite sure what this is all about" expression

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 18/12/2008 21:35

Oh my dear Sazzles hot tea is for soothing moments curled up with a good book while it rains outside. Iced sweet tea is for all other occasions or if you're just plain old thirsty. It's a Southern Staple. I do believe if they gave it via IV my husband would be the happiest man alive.

Pintos it is. (short cutting here with canned but don't tell)

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 21:36

yes, the 4am smile and fling your arms about as if you have had plenty to sleep and eat from DS is so lovely but so aaaarghhhh at the same time

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 18/12/2008 21:40

Longway I'd recommend terry squares and nippas or prefolds for you as they'd dry so quickly down Argentina way. They'd also be less bulky to transport and have more secondary uses if you don't get on with them as nappies. These are the best terry squares IME. Prefolds are much of a muchness but Weenee wraps are particularly great with them (although any wrap with leg gussets will do).

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 18/12/2008 21:41

You can also fold terry squares into a pad and use like a prefold if you don't fancy the origami-style folding.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 18/12/2008 21:50

rolling over?

who has done it????

buckets i believe you said Kurt had, right?

which way are your babies rolling: back to front or front to back??

I'm asking because Reese is trying sooo very hard to roll back to front. She gets almost all the way over then DRAT her arm stops her.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 18/12/2008 21:52

I promise i will try it TS, although don't want to P*ss DH off by depriving him of some of his tea!

What are you doing to 'fix' the pinto beans BTW - do you jazz them up as quite frankly, on their own, they are really quite dull as beans go

dingdong I think Matalan are doing some fab deals at the mo - £25 for a big sack IIRC

OP posts:
dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 22:01

TS - try her without a nappy - DS isn't rolling yet but he always looks more hopeful back to front after his bath when he is lying on the bathroom floor.

Buckets thanks for the website and Sazzles for the suggestion

I find it highly amusing whenever anyone calls me dingdong but am a bit disappointed to see that instead of being highly original several other people all have variations on the same theme

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 18/12/2008 22:03

when I was telling some friends about the nappy-less rolling they made comments along the lines of "your son is a weeble"

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 18/12/2008 22:04

Yep Kurt can roll front to back, I think it's easier than back-to-front because you can brace your arms against the floor and push over to one side. As a tummy-sleeper he has arms like Popeye.

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 18/12/2008 22:04

No, it's TKMaxx with the bargain Totsbots sacks.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 18/12/2008 22:05

lol weeble...when i first read that sentence i thought it read, your son lies on his wee wee.
