Thanks guys I have had a lovely day Lots of cards, emails, texts and phone calls I feel very lucky!

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 18:22

Ooooh, Happy Birthday Jammy

No rest for me; DH wanted to take me out for lunch. So we were sitting there talking about what we needed to buy and shops we needed to visit......"pet shop, chemist, supermarket" says I. "toy shop, jewellers" says DH, "oh, yes toy shop" says I. "jewellers" says DH......I did a double take...."jewellers?" asked I. "well, you deserve that diamond" says he but too!!

Anyway, we didn't have time in the end to get to the nice jewellers that we know, so are going into town next week

Bumperlicious · 13/11/2008 18:43

7 minutes? two and a half frigging hours I was pushing for!

And at your diamond daisy! My DH doesn't believe in 'push' presents!

Happy Birthday Jammy, hope it was a good'un. Right, off to write...

tis more of an eternity ring than a push present bumper........I've always hankered after a solitaire as my (recycled) engagement ring has three stones but we decided when we got re-engaged that the money was better spent on the house. Not sure why he has changed his mind, but I'm not complaining

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/11/2008 19:21

Yay for Daisy getting an eternity ring

I had a nice pub lunch out with my work mates - Jamlet and I shared a fish finger sandwich. And DH is out now getting us a chinese takeaway. Mandarin ribs, sea spiced pork beef with ginger & spring onions and egg fried rice. Yummmmmm. And there is lemon cheesecake in the fridge if we have any room after all that!

We had the first episode of the "naughty step" yesterday She had about 30 seconds out in the hallway for trying to climb up the electronic devices to get on top of the TV stand for the umpteenth time. Bit worried she's a little young, but I was totally sick of removing her and telling her off and didn't know what else to do. And it was a short spell. Has anyone else started this with their June 07 LOs?

educatingRia · 13/11/2008 19:38

i have taken to taking baggins out of the kitchen when he is climbing out of his high chair. doesn't do any flaming good though.

NattyTomAndEllen · 13/11/2008 19:45

jammy, ellen has been getting 1 min 30 sec time outs, in what was her old playpen (you know the ones that are octogon shaped).
i do 30 sec per half year, as i find the one min per year approach just isnt enough time in the second half of the year.

i also started a new technique with tom today, as he called me a "fat cow" and a "fucking bitch" yesterday a blob of mustard on the tonuge everytime her swears or spits when im talking to him. am i an awful parent? it seems to be working, timeouts and smacking were NOT working.

i think i did something awful in a past life.. either that or god is pissed ive missed church for the last month!
my oven has died. completely.. dead as a door nail....
and my landlord is still away
so.. any ideas for meals with just a hob and microwave??

educatingRia · 13/11/2008 19:48

thick broths with dumplings? (yum)

aargh, time to start bedtime.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/11/2008 19:53

We went 6 months with just a microwave Natty. And didn't have one ready meal!

Jacket potatos and baked beans (or beans on toast if you have a toaster?)
Soup
Curry or chilli with rice or potato (the curry/chilli will keep warm if you cover it while the rice or potato cooks)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/11/2008 19:56

Ah - just seen you have a hob as well - luxury!!!

One pot meals - casseroles, stews etc
Stir fried rice with meat/fish/chicken/veg/etc all done in one big wok
Spag bog
loads of things you can cook on a hob!

NattyTomAndEllen · 13/11/2008 20:00

lol just a microwave lol! impressive!

god i hope he gets back soon, no washing machine and no oven, i dont get to spend hardly anytime in my kitchen lol!

Ekka · 13/11/2008 20:01

Happy birthday Jammy.

Lucky you Daisy for the ring - I keep trying to (subtly) hint this to dh but either I'm too subtle or he's just thick .

Haven't tried the 'naughty step' yet, but I can see it coming. DD is climbing everything & has developed selective hearing... I have to shout many times before she responds . Her latest thing is forward rolls - she stands & puts her head on the floor & then just falls forward . I blame her daddy's genes as no-one on my side of the family is remotely sporty. Its definitely NOT something I'm encouraging (the forwards rolls that is, not the sportiness)....

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/11/2008 20:09

Jamlet was really cute tonight (sorry can't resist telling you this). She had fallen asleep on my lap watching Night Garden, so I carried her up to get her changed into 'jamas. WHile I was taking nappy off DH started blowing raspberries in her ear. She partly woke, smiled, and lay there blowing raspberries back at him really cutely, while still almost asleep

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 20:48

DD loves the naughty step . If she does anything wrong we say off you pop to the step and off she goes. Not sure it means anything to her though, but it deflates her tantrum a bit. she will also go and face the door when she knows she has done something wrong.

She has been out of control for the last few days and tried to slap the baby today . But, she came to me and wanted to sit on my lap and give me a kiss for the first time since we brought Fin home which is an improvement.

Sorry Natty, but I think that is way too harsh . mustard stings like f*** for me and I'm an adult, so what it must feel like to a toddler.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 20:49

Hey Ekka, good to see you again

Ohforfoxsake · 13/11/2008 21:30

Arse about your cooker Natty.

Do you know where DS is picking it up from? I think that's where I would start addressing it.

LittleMissNorty · 13/11/2008 21:52

PITA about the cooker Natty.....I survived with just a microwave when my kitchen was redone last year....but can do loads with a hob....spag bol, chilli and rice, curry and rice, veg, stir fries, fry-ups...loads.....I only use my oven on average 3-4 nights a week.

Don't think i instill enough discipline in this house ...haven't done step yet....have removed food / toys / TV as punishment but she doesn't understand.....and when she does, she knows how to turn on the charm . I did shout at her the other day, and made my nephew cry ...I did precede the shout with her name.....and another time, I shouted at the dog to get out the bloody kitchen and sit down, and DD done it . Obviously I need to get a bit tougher.....

Sputnik · 13/11/2008 22:15

I hardly ever use my oven really. Pasta rice, soup, curries, it nearly all gets done on the hob.
I think if one of my dcs called me a fat cow I would just ignore. At that age they are simply looking for a reaction. And I would wonder where he picked it up too as kids that young don't come up with these things on their own.

Well done with the ring Daisy, you have earned it.

DD just threw up all over her bed, hope it's a one-off.

educatingRia · 13/11/2008 22:50

poor DD sputnik.

oooh nice, daisy. lucky you. My DH brought me black pepper sensations. Not quite the same but anyway. (I suppose I haven't just had a baby I did get an eternity ring the christmas before DS1 was born. It doesn't fit anymore

But I will be back on my diet soon tomorrow soon.

educatingRia · 13/11/2008 22:51

I am going out tomorrow night

NattyTomAndEllen · 13/11/2008 23:30

i fell asleep on the sofa AGAIN! this baby is taking ova my body!!
bless your DD daisy, she being a bit jealous?
tom is picking it up from michael cos he swears at me all the time, particualy the f-ing bitch one.. i have asked him to watch his language but he says its funny and not to worry
all very well but when he is screaming it at the top of his lungs on the bus its not so funny
