So Esther woke again at 10.10pm and I gave her 2.5ml of Medised and fed her again, and she has been asleep since then.

Don't know what's been up with her tonight

Parofleurmapu · 30/10/2008 07:39

Oh Neenz Hope she stayed asleep, Could be teeth I suppose or what did she eat yesterday could that have kept her up if it was something new?

Fleur goes down well at 7pm now and normally stays asleep only sometimes do we have to go up, shes asleep at DF too but wakes every day at 3,30am!! No idea why! Shes not hungry i just go in and stick dummy in and again 5am and then i eventually feed her at 7am. She cant be hungry or can she? she has 6 feeds throughout the day and solids an hour after 3 times a day now. She takes anything between 600ml (21oz) and 800ml (28oz) a day.

Oh well I really knew those two weeks of sleeping through were a fluke!!!

FLeur is 5 months today (calendar months) nearly 1/2 a year doesnt time fly!! The girls on June antenatal thread are discussing sickness etc seems a million miles away!!!

Going to see if can do coeliacs test here today as its appeared in several members of my family so i want to check i doont have it too, apparently in can be symptomless for a while. Then i have to see what we do with Fleur as it can jump a generation too.

fungle · 30/10/2008 08:29

I think all this waking up must be teeth. Isla woke 9.30, 12.30, 3, 4, 6 last night. Wasn't interested in food, drank a total of 4 oz. Bright red cheeks too.
Welcome back GF!
Paro....I agree time is flying! was only thinking that this morning, what I was up to this time last year. It was still a secret and I felt rotten!
I vote David Thewliss for the new Doctor

Neenztwinz · 30/10/2008 09:01

Esther did stay asleep all nigth bless her. Didn't have anything new to eat yest but you never know. I put an extra blanket on her just in case she was cold. Theo slept all night too.

Paro, no tips re sleeping thru, it just seems that some babies do. some don;'t. I haven't done anything special with mine (except perhaps that they always settle themselves in their cots for daytime naps, never rocked/hugged to sleep). But I have always fed them if they have woken in the night.

needahand · 30/10/2008 09:02

Hi all. I am making the most of my last two days with unrestricted mn access.

sponge don't know if I would recommend the kari me. I have a loive/hate relationship with it. I love it because it is so much better than thebaby bjorn. But sometimes it is diabolical when you try to put it on and the rolling lycra thing does my head in. Can't help but thinking that perhaps there are other slings that achieve the same result without the hassle.

GF nice to have you back, I thought perhaps you wanted to concentrate on RL, no offence taken. Can't believe you are going back on Monday. Will be thinking of you.

Re shouting, SJ has also found his voice. Unbelievable how high pitched he can be.

Re rolling, he rolled three times one day a little while ago and has never done it since. amber ignore what is normal, my DD hardly ever rolled and I can't recall her crawling much either or is she did she did it really late (I remember her bum shuffling though) but she walked at 12 months and is a happy child as as normal as is possible.

Re hair I am losing mine in chunks you should see my pillow in the mornings it is really bad.

debs SJ also has a bald patch and is starting to look like a little monk!

Thanks all for the comfort and virtual hugs, really appreciated.

debinaustria · 30/10/2008 12:00

Just back from Drs for Ethan's check up, everything fine, he was such a good boy having his injection.

Ethan now weighs 7kg and is 70 cms long. Weight is average but height is off the chart!

Asked Dr about weaning guidelines here and he advised 6 months too, and said that weight was fine so no need to start earlier. So why was he awake at 2 and 5 last night? I'll try the extra blanket tonight and see if that's the reason.

spongebrainbigpants · 30/10/2008 12:13

thanks needahand, think I'll keep looking then - I have a babasling but haven't got the hang of using it with an older baby yet

debinaustria · 30/10/2008 14:56

Helllllooooooo, where is everyone? Or Are you all meeting up and having fun without me?

Ethan is grizzly post injection, feel like he's squeezed(not literally) every last drop of milk from me this afternoon

hedgehog1979 · 30/10/2008 15:57

afternoon all, Well I have made the jump and went to talk to work today about returning part time after christmas. it all has to be agreed by personnel etc but looks like I will be going back 3 days a week in Feb
Sponge I can bring my slings to a london meet up too if you want to try,
Essie I got my fabric from here, next day delivery, phoned me coz I had baby brain and put expiry date of card in wrong
am going to relax now and be back later

PiggyPenguin · 30/10/2008 16:12

Quick message from me just to say hi. Its half term so am busy with all three kids this week, Jamie is loving all the extra attention from his big brother and sister though!

He is also not rolling over and 20 weeks now. He can go from back to side on both side really easy but finds it difficult to do that little extra bit to put him on his front. He does hate being on his front though so maybe he is deliberately not doing it!

Essie3 · 30/10/2008 20:09

So just any fabric will do, Hedgehog?

Had to post something because we were sliding down the list there!

OP posts:
poppy34 · 30/10/2008 20:20

lol essiegot to keep us up there.

debSympathy re injections..also had very fussy/grumpy bub on my hand today post injection.

5gomad am hiding here after getting involved in cross fire re making up bottles on another thread.. [note to self - STAY OFF ALL WEANING TYPE THREADS]

Neenztwinz · 30/10/2008 20:30

LOL Poppy! We both posted on a sleep thread last night I think? It's horrid when something you say which you think is quite innocent gets jumped on . Haven't seen the bottles thread you are talking about tho.

Well I don't want to speak too soon, but it is day four of the new bedtime routine and both babies went straight to sleep at 7pm tonight. They only slept for 40 mins, but I shushed Esther back to sleep and fed Theo bakc to sleep and they are boith still asleep!!!

Fingers crossed...

I have had a lovely day today, they are so much fun at the mo and no trouble, I think the new bedtime routine is helping them be more settled during the day too. Previously they would get pretty fractious in the afternoons around 4.30. And its Friday tomorrow

poppy34 · 30/10/2008 20:33

am now scared as got slated for saying advice in france is to use mineral water to make up feeds...

but great news re sleeping neenz -touch wood edie been pretty good of late...am also doing the patting to sleep bit

Amberc · 30/10/2008 20:57

PP - I PMSL at your comment about breaking your pram to get a new one!!! The MacLaren is fab - I love it and cannot believe I wasted so much money on that other one when I could have used the MCL from birth. I saw some poor cow trying to lug her Pliko Pramette onto a bus and I knew I'd done the right thing. Luke was like a little wrapped up sausage in his fully reclined cosy toes this morning.

He's been in a mood all afternoon - don't know why and yes he HAS gone into I won't feed mode now so maybe the 4 month curse has struck. Won't take any notice of those silly milestones then.

What thread was it Poppy - love reeading a good old rant on MN!

How about Daniel Craig for Doctor Who - I'd watch it! Am going to see the new one on Sunday and am getting my industrial strength knickers ready!

Parofleurmapu · 30/10/2008 21:12

OOOh Poppy ive just added a post on there too!! Waiting to get slated now!!!!

Amber its formula bottles

poppy34 · 30/10/2008 21:21

good on you para - was the point I was trying to make (as in france also tell you to make it up that way). Reported the rude woman as thought way she put it was quite ott.

glad you're happy with your maclaren - they are fab aren't tehy amber... am smug now when see how lumbery some fo others are

Parofleurmapu · 30/10/2008 21:32

Good on you too poppy was thinking of doing same thing cause of the reference to Bounty which i thought was silly. Thats obviously stemmed from the weaning thread bout Bounty people weaning their babies early

spongebrainbigpants · 30/10/2008 22:10

Hedgehog, yes please! Desperate to replace my babybjorn but don't know what to buy and don't want to spend out on something I'm not going to use.

sybil, Alex really struggles with that last bit of the roll too, bless him! Enjoy your half term.

paro and poppy, have just posted on the bottles thread cos I really am genuinely confused as to how you make up bottles one at a time for a demand fed baby. I thought the tone of the thread was ridiculously patronising and the stats that woman quoted (33% fatality rate, WTF?!!) were clearly a crock of shite! Sorry, just a bit as you can tell!

Amber, Alex was also out in his Mclaren cosytoes today - they're fab! When we went to Mothercare to buy it the woman said she gest so many first time mums in buying their fancuy big travel systems and then two months later they're all back in buying a Mclaren!! I still like my M&P pram for when I'm walking out from the house though - feels sturdier!

Night all x

hedgehog1979 · 30/10/2008 22:46

essie I used Jersey, kinda like t shirt fabrics.
sbbp not long now - letz get practising our west country to confuse the London Ladies

Parofleurmapu · 31/10/2008 07:57

Morning

Good for you too sponge Fleur is fed on demand too cause she was BF for so long she is in to that routine so she feeds anything between 2 1/2 to 4 hrs so i prepare the bottles as i said on the thread and then have them in warmer from about the 3 hr mark so they are ready paed said it was fine. There are people who have a bottle in the warmer all night (I have done this too) and i sometimes take a bottle in the travel bag already warmed up it keeps warm in the insulator bit so dont see what the difference is at home. As i said paed knows all this and is happy. She said if i used cold mineral water i could prepare them in advance and pop in fridge

Well introducing another meal today to see if that helps fleur. I wouldnt mind if she woke at 3am ate and went back to sleep but she doesnt she then wakes every 1/2 45 min til 7am and we eventually then get up!! Strange girl why would you get up at 3am!!

Oh and FELIZ HALLOWEEN

ThePenguinProject · 31/10/2008 08:59

I want a new buggy too! Nothing else to say really....actually yes there is. My friend is due in January and we walked round Mothercare yesterday with me being the v experienced Mum telling her everything she actually needed. I pointed out the unecessary stuff and what was just for fun - and then strongly recommended she still bought it all cos they are quite well off. Anyway I was shocked that she knew nothing and I realised just how amazingly helpful this thread and all of you have been to me since I joined. Thanks everyone!

Happy halloween! Ryder is wearing his devil top today.

Amberc · 31/10/2008 09:16

Just taken Luke to nursery and he's wearing his 'my first halloween' bib. They are all dressed up in witches costumes - it's great - I want to go to nursery!

Parofleurmapu · 31/10/2008 10:31

ARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH Now i remember why i only post on here!!!! Gosh some people!

Sorry the bottle thread is stupid I like it on here where i can relate to you opinion/advice from over here and you take it as you wish

aaah Amber thats so cool I love dress up days at school think we teachers have more fun then the kids!!!

PP- yep this thread is lovely Thank you too!!!

Essie3 · 31/10/2008 11:58

Morning all! And happy Halloween - or Nos Calan Gaea' Hapus i bawb. Hedgehog, Sponge, you won't confuse the London Ladies with your accents - I only speak English for your benefit, you know!
I have a Halloween anecdote for you all. Unmarried ladies - in Wales, Halloween traditions are all about finding a husband (although I don't think there's anyone actively looking on here!). One tradition is to make a big stew, with a wedding ring in it. The person who gets the ring in their portion is the next to be married. I've done this, great fun. I used a (non-meltable) plastic ring.
However...
A friend did this and didn't warn everyone about the wedding ring in the stew. This poor guy bit into a large potato, and the ring got wedged between two of his molars. He had to have major dental surgery to repair that. And after that cost there was no way he could afford to get married...

Iestyn has been big stress for the last two days. Better today - so far! I think he's teething or something. He's not happy anywhere for more than 10 mins. Sling here we come...

Right, off to win £7000 on This Morning now, because DH has banned me from getting Iestyn a beautiful rocking sheep for Christmas. Tsk. All of you who have met Iestyn - wouldn't he be unbearably cute on one of these? Admittedly he can't sit up, but still... (10% off everything on the website with the code F200. Still not enough to convince DH.)
