Seeing as it's a quiet time...

Paro, does Fleur have a bottle too? Two milk feeds a day doesn't seem like much. You can carry on BFing for years if you want - don't give up if you don't want to!

So it's not just my sex life that has ground to a halt then . Well not exactly but it is going very slowly . After the initial rush to get back into it after stitches healed I just can't be bothered most of the time. Though I try to make an effort if we haven't done it for a week or so .

I was thinking a couple of weeks back how Esther really should do some baby modelling cos she is so gorgeous (check the pics!) but then I was thinking, no, I bet everyone thinks that about their baby. Looking at this thread I am right! (Though I accept that Theo is not very photogenic and would not make a good model!) I am sure all your LOs ARE gorgeous tho!

Whinegums, as long as your LO is over 17 weeks I'm sure it will be OK. It's a small risk but one I took too so join the club . Even my La Leche League book says if they start cluster feeding for 5 days or more then it is not just a growth spurt and to start on solids. They do go through a growth spurt at four months tho. I was in the same boat and started solids too (they were 22 weeks but 3+2 weeks prem so really only 19 weeks) when they started cluster feeding. I look back now and wonder whether it was just the routine that was out rather than them being hungry (mostly cos they seem just as hungry now as before - esther is even waking in the night now when she wasn't before!). it is a really tough one but you know your LO and I am sure you are making the right decision.

That's it. I have been tipped over the edge. My dishwasher has broken, dp is out seeing a band and I'm in tears. Everything is getting on top on me right now and the dishwasher is the final straw. I just want to hide in bed and never come out again.

Neenztwinz · 07/11/2008 21:16

Paro, if you let Fleur suck then you will continue to make milk, so don't doubt your supply, even if you only continue once or twice a day.

debinaustria · 07/11/2008 21:17

Neenz - not much action here, my sex drive has driven off somewhere !!!

Neenztwinz · 07/11/2008 21:20

G43 I know how you feel, I felt like that a couple of weeks ago when my breast pump broke. It was on top of a few other things and was just the final straw. Can you afford a new one? If so then go out tomorrow and get one, don;t think 'oh, can I cope without it, is it the best use of the money' just do it cos if it has made you that miserable you obviously need it.

I went and bought a new breast pump which at £55 was steep but it made me feel a whole lot better knowing I didn;t have to worry about having no ebm to add to the DTs' food.

My DH is home now so probably won't be able to post again tonight but hope you feel better soon.

debinaustria · 07/11/2008 21:22

Oh G43 - sympathies, was it you with the broken dishwasher a few weeks ago when mine was? Ours is working again now if you press the filter basket down in the right position!

Leave the washing up for your dh in the morning as his punishment for being out tonight without you - have you got chocolate?

goingfor3 · 07/11/2008 21:24

Neenz, no chance of me thinking \i can cope without it I can't. I've already looked on the JL website and if DP says we don't have the money I will use some of dd's modelling money - she needs clean dishes too!

goingfor3 · 07/11/2008 21:26

Debs sorry you had one too. DOn't know what's wrong with it, it was working fine and then stopped mid cycle lost power and there was a feint wiff of smoke. I have unplugged it and will rinse ds's stuff.

debinaustria · 07/11/2008 21:29

G43 - surely you'll get cheaper than the JL website

goingfor3 · 07/11/2008 21:35

Debs maybe but's it less than 10 mins walk from my house and they tend to have a one year JL guarentee on top of the manufactoers one.

How do you find having three. I feel so overwhelmed by it at the moment which has really suprised me as I found 1 okay and two easy?

hedgehog1979 · 07/11/2008 21:44

G43 so sorry about your dishwasher, we have had ours for less than three years and would already be lost without it.

Am feeling v earth mother tonight, have made

  • bath bombs to check the instructions I have written for the guides
  • Air fresheners as I don't trust the guides with these, they can paint the jars
  • Soap, again to check the instructions are followable (sp)
....and all bar the sleeves of Isaacs father christmas outfit.

As well as all that I have found some old microfibre cloths to cut up for nappy boosters....... BUT

I should be sewing the badges on DH's scout leader uniform and haven't due to his behaviour this morning, He needs them on for Sunday so I will have to do it tomorrow but I will leave him to stew for as long as possible.

Isaac has been in bed since 8, which is the earliest I we have put him to bed since he was born, lets hope that he can still make it to 7am, although if he wakes in the night there is a bottle of EBM in the fridge which I think I will make DH give him

Right am now going to find a DVD to watch with a lovely large mug of hot chocolate, in bed

debinaustria · 07/11/2008 21:46

I do have those overwhelming moments, the boys are pretty accepting on the whole but sometimes will specifically ask me to play with them or do something just with them. I try to share myself out but it is hard. I am really dreading the winter season starting as I can't imagine how dh and I are going to manage Saturday changeovers now we have Ethan to consider. Life seems hectic enough now with washing, ironing, cooking, shopping, homework etc etc, but then you have to add washing and ironing all the guest stuff, and the snow clearing and I'm worried. Unfortunately can't afford to pay for any help either.

debinaustria · 07/11/2008 21:48

Wow HH - you're a superwoman. Surely dh can sew his own badge on - don't they do sewing badges in scouts? Lol

ThePenguinProject · 07/11/2008 22:30

2 days and you've posted another 4 pages, wow!

I've had the sickness bug and it was horrendous. I was actually cuddling the toilet bowl thinking it was worse than labour....and then DH came down with it too yesterday. Thank God Ryder seems to have escaped it, I was having nightmares about midnight trips to A&E.

I was much too ill to BF on weds night, so didn't feed from about 6pm until 11am Thursday. My boobs have never been so big or so painful. The letdown actually had me crying out. I am now terrified of stopping bf-ing...

Just a few individual replies:

Aberdeenhiker - Thank you for the SIDS info. Reassuring. Sorry about your house. Hope your LO ok now.

Essie - PMSL at you BF-ing the duvet.

Amber - Lucky you re: sailors. (DH is an ex navy man )

Whinegums - Did you tell the M&S girl you loved her? A couple of years ago a Sainsburys girl wouldn't sell me cigarettes without ID, she made my year. (Still happy about it now actually).

AliP - That sounds terrifying, really hope Peter gets better soon.

Deb - Your 'back to work continuing bf-ing at night' experience makes me hopeful. I was terrified that I'd completely dry up when I went back (at Xmas).

NB: Since moving into our new flat we don't have a dishwasher, sob . Maybe if Bank Of Scotland drop our mortgage rate.... (Just one month would pay for a DW, two months would include installation!) Tumble dryer being delivered on Tuesday though .

Bloomin' 'eck - time for a new thread. Any title suggestions? How about something to wind up all the weaning pouncers....(evil cackle)?

bitofadramaqueen · 07/11/2008 22:34

Evening. Marking my spot again. G43 sorry about your dishwasher. The JL chat made me chuckle. Our kettle started leaking a few weeks ago, and when DH came home I told him which ones I'd had a look at in JL. As we're supposed to be watching the pennies he asked what was wrong with the local argos .

HH echo Deb's view, shouldn't badge sewing be the first badge they get? .

Knackered, so off to bed. Have big night out tomorrow and can't wait!

bitofadramaqueen · 07/11/2008 22:35

Oh, while I remember Sponge how are you getting on with your nappies?

bitofadramaqueen · 07/11/2008 22:35

Oh, and whoever's on next - this thread has just about finished. My brain not functioning, so struggling to think of a new title.

ThePenguinProject · 07/11/2008 22:40

JL cheaper than argos for my fridge/freezer and washing machine...and they give an extra years warranty...and deliver within the year!

spongebrainbigpants · 07/11/2008 23:10

new home

spongebrainbigpants · 07/11/2008 23:11

Sorry, I don't mean I've moved home - I started a new thread!

Hope you like the title!!!!
