hi all - thanks for changing bag tips .. did a play with various ones and decided on pacapod (bit of indulgence ) love way it goes on pushchair and has seperate pouches..

alipalli glad you had better night..but sorry to hear about your bad start fungle -the early starts can really take it out of you -had day like that on tuesday and just felt sooo bad all day. also the crying as tired is horrendous... Edie can be VERY LOUD now and really kick off (which is just delightful in your ear when you're tired ).

allnew that sounds weird re iron..althoguh that said I'm big fan of floradix (and I'm not breastfeeding) ... just know that need extra vitamins etc as don't feel quite 100% yet at all.

Amberc · 09/10/2008 18:46

Hi all - really quick post. The tablets I got from the doctors made me feel awful. I was as sick as a dog this morning sop rang the docs and apparently that's one of the common symptoms and I might be like this for 2 weeks! She did tell me to persevere though.

Luke is so happy at nursery and they love him there he's such a little sweetheart. They all think he will walk before he will crawl - does that mean he can't crawl but can walk? How odd!

Luke slept through for the second night running. Still will not allow myself to get excited though. And clearly I still woke up loads anyway.

Hope everyone is OK. I too use the Boots bag and need a new one. My original changing bag is too big and heavy so I will look at the suggestions too.

Amberc · 09/10/2008 19:51

Just realised we don't have June 08 on our thread which is why I always struggle to find it!

whinegums · 09/10/2008 21:10

Fungle - indeed! And oddly enough, I also got my hair done today - feel loads better for it. The soup making was yesterday though! You might be glad to hear that B was fine in his travel crib, and also in a different travel cot when we stayed in a hotel.

Thanks for all swimming advice, I'll ring the pool and see what they have.

Allnew - so sorry to hear that you had all your savings with Icesave. At least I only had a little in it. Let's hope it gets sorted out soon - and hurrah for Gordon Brown's tough stance (so far anyway) with the icelandic government.

I was going to buy a Doidy cup - lucky you getting a freebie.

Changing bags - couldn't find one I liked, so bought a big handbag from M&S which has pockets - been meaning to get one of those travel changing mats with the pockets to go in it for ages, at the moment I'm using the mat from the Boots free one.

Talking of M&S - was in there today, to get B a pramsuit. Picked one that was £16, but only £7 at the till - in the sale but they hadn't got round to marking everything down! Didn't had time to go back and look at all the other baby clothes, but might go tomorrow.

Better go - he is filling his nappy - sounds like a frog boiling...

fungle · 09/10/2008 21:19

Hair is done! I do feel better. Its been one of those horendous days.....but Its got better near the end. Best Freind turned up unanounced at 6.30(crazy bewitching hour for DD1) with wine! Been lovely to see her, she's so good and helpful.
Last time she came round for an evening Isla slept through the night......? Heres hoping!

Essie3 · 09/10/2008 23:08

Amber duh at not giving the June 08. I won't try to be clever again!

Hi Laura, Hi TJuice.

9.30pm - 5.30am last night! I am a completely different person today after getting some sleep. I have absolutely no idea why he was ok last night and not previously, perhaps it was all the good wishes on here? Oh well, just hope it's a good one tonight and just in case good wishes do help, wishing all your LO's sleep tonight too.

BDQ - R has a sheepskin pram thing, I like it as I don't worry about a coat, just a jumper or cardi for him. I keep it quite loose though.

Amber - at pills and your GP's just put up with it attitude - she could have warned you! I've been told that lots of boys walk but don't crawl. Alledgedly it may be due to the SIDS guidelines mean that babies lay on their tummys much less that they used and therefore don't natually crawl as part of their development. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.

AliP - I've got my first pilates session tomorrow, hope it's as good as yours. How are those hairy legs? Mine are horrendous. LOL as baby as alarm clock, R doesn't have a snooze button....

Fungle - I hate the not going back to sleep and early mornings meaning long days too. Ryder actually seems to want to play when he wakes up.

Changing bags, I've got a few, the best is this one, but TBH it's too heavy so I mainly use my oioi one.

UDC - Gutted I missed you too. I haven't seen you or Dorothy for ages. Re: wedding outfit, how about bravissimo: something like this? Their covent garden shop is a walk away from Waterloo...

Why do I complain I'm shattered and then stay up this late!!?? Night, night ladies.

alipalli · 10/10/2008 09:14

Morning.

Hope the pilates is good PP. I always feel so much better after an hour of reconnecting with just my body. That sounds abit odd but it is true especially as BF can make me feel like a lactation device!

I did manage to shave my legs yesterday although P moaned in his cot whilst I was doing it. We also had our best swimming session yet: P lasted to the end of the class without crying; cracked a smile, and even the instructor said that he was much more chilled (clearly we had made an impression).

Hisnsleep was good again last night: 10.30 to 5.30. Then he would not go backndown until 7.30 but we have both had a sneaky nap and P is currently having another nap next to me as I type. Oh... Waking up

whinegums · 10/10/2008 10:25

Drum roll please - B slept from midnight til 5.30 last night - longest he's ever gone! I couldn't quite believe it. Although we did have several hours of screaming last night beforehand, so he was knackered.

Amberc · 10/10/2008 11:12

Morning all, Good to hear about all the sleeping throughs. I actually woke Luke last night to feed him as he was so restless and had not taken anything at 11.30. I think he would have woken anyway otherwise I would have left him.

I feel truly awful on these tablets. They say you feel worse before you feel better but I am in a permanent state of anxiousness now. I don't know whether to continue as after a couple of weeks I might feel right as rain. Any advice?

alipalli · 10/10/2008 14:23

Oh Amber, I don't know what to suggest, not something I have any experience of, but lots of sympathy to you none the less.

Whinegums - well done to B. Quite a breakthrough.

All quiet here, just waiting for my NCT group to come round for coffee and cake. No doubt once they are here Peter will decide that he needs to be held which could get in the way of hostessing.

needahand · 10/10/2008 16:33

Poppy I bought a skip hop bag after my boots one broke after three weeks. It is very handy because it clips onto your pram.

amber did you see my post re Neals's yard tinctures, I would really recommend, they work wonders

Still in sear for the perfect nanny here and starting to panic!

Also have stared weaning SJ, he seems pretty happy about it

goingfor3 · 10/10/2008 17:45

I've started weaning too.
Ds hasn't had a decent nap for nearly a week and is really restless. Nights are getting worse. I gave him some carrot this afternoon and he really enjoyed it. He is 20 weeks now but I really thibnk he ready.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 10/10/2008 18:17

Hello all,

I have stupidly not bought anything to wear for DS's christening next weekend, wnet shopping this morning and nothing, have ordered something of the internet so fingers crossed it will arrive by next Friday, if not it is out panic buying, however did buy 8 christmas pressies today.

And a funny thing happened ( I hope I don't offend anyone) the priest was here sorting out the christening and the Jehovah Witnesses turned up at the same time, we did invite them in but they declined.

And also if anyone wants to buy a country you can bid for it

here

Oh yes and BIL got 10 months so will be out in 6 months, SIL going around saying that he only got 5 months so the lies have started again.

pleasechange · 10/10/2008 20:15

Hi all - and congrats to alipalli and whinegums on your long sleeps!

Some of you said recently that the babies are returning to newborn behaviour - well that has happened here also. Last night pretty awful sleepwise, so I'm really hoping tonight is better

PP I really like the look of that dress. I think I will treat myself when I've lost a bit more weight!

5gomad hope your dress arrives and that you like it! What was your link to? - It's been removed now ! And well done on the xmas pressies. I've made a small start as well

hedgehog1979 · 10/10/2008 20:27

Evening all,

Been out and about making the most of the weather at the moment so little time to post.

changing bags I looked at the pacapod but DH vetoed it saying it was the same size as the boots one, but my boots one was popping at the seams. So my mum and dad got me this one for my birthday, and I love it as I can put my stuff (including a book) in and not need another bag. But do have a quick question for real nappy users - what do you do with your dirty ones? I have a persil drawstring bag that I got free in my bounty pack which I then put in the basket under the pushchair but keep forgetting about it , and cannot seem to fit more than 2 nappies in any changing bag - Any Tips?

Glad people are starting to have better nights, Isaac has been going from 9 - 7 for about 5 weeks now, but I need to remember to go to bed earlier. Has been about 12 - 1 last 2 nights as we are still napping in the day. I am under no illusions though as I know that he may regress and start waking in the night again.

in the pushchair Isaac is still lying flat in his pushchair so I have him in trousers and long sleeved vest/Babygro with a jacket or cardigan and a couple of lovely fluffy blankets from primark which he snuggles up in. I do have a couple of fleecy/water repellant all in 1's (pramsuits?) for out and about in the sling, includingthis one which is georgeous.

Not much else to report here. Is anyone else going to the babyshow at earls court next week. We are going on Friday to see if we can get some more real nappies ( I think this is becoming and addiction)

d about in the sling, including [[

FiveGoMadInDorset · 10/10/2008 21:25

link was to Iceland being up for auction

Essie3 · 10/10/2008 22:44

Phew, 5GoMad, thought I was going to have to bid for Wales. Loved your post about the multifaith discussion btw!

Hedgehog at your bag but you know that already! I'm currently eyeing up a v. v. expensive one called Lin and Leo. Anyone got one? Is it good?
And real nappies: I use a special tote bag for the used ones which keeps smells at bay, but the downside is that I forget about them in the bottom of the pram too...

Not been here much - not done much. But I did have to go to see an osteopath today. I went because I was in a lot of pain with my neck, which was really bad during bfing. He helped, and also helped with the (new) carpal tunnel problem I have. But I'm still aching a lot.

Sorry to all I've missed! Off to Wales tomorrow. 4 nights by myself - argh! I don't want to go!

Hi, just adding myself to the thread. We're in Canada on vacation and Fraser's really been struggling - up every 90 minutes last night! But I'm hoping he'll get better as he settles in to the time change. If he doesn't, I think we will try formula when we get home, if for no other reason than that DH can start doing the occasional night so I can sleep through. Hugs to everyone and I'll try to catch up later on...

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/10/2008 08:03

AH - how was the flight, we are doing a long haul one next month, did short haul with Edie but any tips for a long one much appreciated.

hedgehog1979 · 11/10/2008 09:10

at you all doing flights, we have enough trouble getting across to my mums in Somerset with limited stuff - and she has toys, travel cot etc. I can quite happily pack a bag for the three of us, and then walk round the house putting stuff in reusable bags which end up filling the back seat.

We are off to Hexham for a wedding in a couple of weeks - only overnight but am a little about how much to take.

essie glad I am not the only one who leaves nappies in the pushchair

Off to the Post Office now as parcel force tried to deliver a parcel yesterday and I now have to go and pretend to be DH and collect it

PiggyPenguin · 11/10/2008 09:15

Hi obviously haven't posted in a while as I couldn't figure out where the thread had gone! Jamie has another stinking cold and is really struggling to breathe through the night, which is a mega pain in the ass as this is when he normally does most of his feeding. I have woken up with ginormous boobs for the last four nights or so and he seems to be shrinking before my very eyes! Am dreading his next weigh in already. Might wait until 8 months!

He is also teething so runny nose, runny mouth, and generally a bit stroppy. Commiserations to everyone else going through the same thing.

Jamie is 17.5 weeks now and I have to admit I am wondering about weaning - even though I swore I would last until 6 months. He just isn't interested in milk, but is really interested in food and stares at us whenever we eat. I will wait until 20 weeks I think but probably no longer, expecially given his feeding issues. Has anyone else made any weaning decisions?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/10/2008 09:50

Sybil - we managed to eeek Edie out to 20 weeks but she would wait no longer, whereas Seb doesn't seem interested at all and not ready anyway.

poppy34 · 11/10/2008 11:22

hi all

5gomad another good night (hooray) -even settled herself to sleep... not thinking it woill last but proves it can happen.

sybil sorry ot hear about jamies cold -have you tried one of those inhaler plug ins -seemed to help with edie .

5gomad interesting what you say re edie being differnet -was it really obvious with her that she wanted to be weaned (ie hungry, interested in food etc ). My edie still some weeks off I think but she is taking 240ml a feed so I'm guessing that can't really go much more on the milk front for much longer.

aberdeenhikerhope you're enjoying canada despite the night waking..

Parofleurmapu · 11/10/2008 13:18

Well all well here fleur still has a cold but just got some patches from the chemists with herbs in that you are meant to put over cot and helps clear nose, dont know if they will work but anything is worh a go rather than being up from 3am to 7am last night

Weaning well as you know we have started here ( 22 weeks) not because of drinking loads of milk as she isnt but because of her lack of interest in it lately and her real interest in food, snatching a banana out of my hands and me having to stick fingers down mouth to get it back!!!
Paed here has really funny view on weaning 4mths cereals, 5mths fruit only apple and pear and no veg til 6mths!! well not doing that is what ive said im taking her annabel karmels book and going to say this is what ive decided to do ive followed you way for 2 wks with baby rice and cereals only now im going my own way,

Amber sorry pills are making you feel bad they tried to make me give Fleur vitammin D drops as BF babies dont get enough apparently, little do they know that fleur isnt having them.

Talking bout pill side effects just finishing packet of cerazet mini pill and i think they are making me grumpy and more nervous disposition Anyone else had this?

AH have good time, hope fraser sorts out soon

Symphathies to those with babies and colds too, and re newborn thing no naps and waking at night think it must be an age thing as Fleur is doing the same nap times duing day are a battle!!!
