Opps. Was it not clear what I meant Deb?

I keep reading all the posts and meaning to respond but get distracted or there's just too many....Is anyone else feeling a bit scatty at the moment? I don't seem to be able to concentrate on anything, hence the lack of individual responses to everyones posts, sorry. Altho I am loving your poo stories Rolf.

It was lovely to see a post from you Josey.

Perhaps it's an age thing. I turned 31 yesterday. I had a lovely day, after opening all my presents I turned round and DS woke up and smiled at me at exactly that moment. It melted my heart completely and was the best present.

DH and I were discussing last night that it feels like we now have this unbelievable capacity for violence against anyone who might ever hurt Ryder. Someone cut us up in the car and it was quite scary. My initial reaction was to get out the car and punch the driver. Repeatedly. Obviously I didn't, but I've never felt rage like that before. I scared myself!

Ryder still being sick and infant gaviscon not helping (altho it's hard to tell when I can hardly get him to take any...). I'm gonna bite the bullet and try cutting out dairy for a couple of weeks to see if it makes any difference. I've just finished my last tube of smarties.

Anyway, perhaps the lack of chocolate will clear my head and I'll be able to keep up with the thread and you all this week!

Neenztwinz · 26/10/2008 22:59

Deb - Esther doesn't have much hair but I think they are both going to be quite fair.

I have to laugh at Kellymom website sometimes, I know it has some great advice for BFing etc and is much loved by many MNers, but some of it is so... well, not Gina Ford anyway!

I read something on it the other day which said you should not try to encourage you baby to sleep through if they don't want to cos 'your baby might just want to be near you and you shouldn't discourage that'

I thought 'no, night time is for sleeping!!!'
(not that I have ever used any sleep techniques.. I always just feed mine back to sleep).

debinaustria · 27/10/2008 05:59

"Perhaps it's an age thing. I turned 31 yesterday."

PP, you've made me feel senile at the very old age of 36!

Alex lying on his mat having a very serious chat with a toy penguin at the moment - really cute!!

fungle · 27/10/2008 08:22

Hi all, very busy weekend here, just had a quick look through the weekends posts....LOTS!
Rolf and Essie-Love the poo stories, I remember potty training very well, I hated it! Cleaning up poo every day aint my idea of fun
Routines....I was going to ask for some advice as LO was still waking twice, but the last two nights has only woke once. The clocks have thrown us though....wide awake at 5.45 today, I guess it was 6.45 in old time and perfectly acceptable. Will see how the next few days go.
Weaning....I havn't really been thinking about it until the last day or two. Isla seems to be paying a lot of attention to food all of a sudden, hand chewing and polishing off 8oz feeds! She is 17 weeks. Was hoping to hold out until after Ive been up to Liverpool in a couple of weeks, but I think we'll have to play it by ear.
Josie... Sorry to hear youv'e had a rough time, as someone else said, it was pretty inevitable with all you are going through tho. Hope your feeling better.
PP...Happy Late Birthday!!
Its sunny here today! Good washing drying weather(sad I know!) It makes all the difference not having wet clothes all over the house tho.
First day of halfterm too, DD1 off for a sleepover tonight, wish DD2 was off out too, would love a big sleep
Has anyone done a baby massage course? Im starting next week, just wondering what they where like/if LO's enjoyed them.
Last lot of Jabs in the morning glad they are over for a while then.
Have a good day all.

debinaustria · 27/10/2008 08:33

Fungle - just got my 1st lot of washing out

Paro - I did notice that you were eating Fleur for breakfast ! When do the drs think you can go back to work then? Hope you get on ok whilst Fleur is at nursery, leaving them the 1st time is the worst, then it will get better I promise.

Sponge - you're not that old, i have 3 years on you.

hedgehog1979 · 27/10/2008 09:31

morning all,

Can't remember everything I have read after our weekend 'oop north' but DH has left ISaacs travel sleeping bag in the hotel - I am blaming him as he got him dressed/changed yesterday morning while I had a shower and told me he had put everything in the bag. So last night he had too sleep in his pramsuit and a 1 tog sleeping bag

good to hear from you Josey, hope things are better for you now.

feel like a bit of a baby here with you all mentioning 30's I have not hit that age yet.

LOLing at poo talk here, and burying head in the sand

Having a lazy day here today catching up with everything sky plussed over the weekend

ThePenguinProject · 27/10/2008 10:08

My sleep technique is to feed too Neenz. I've now worked out how to get a lay in of sorts - in a very slummy mummy way via the lying down bf-ing. I just feed him back to sleep and we get another snuggly hour or so. It was lovely this morning, but means my plans to start a routine of sorts have gone out the window....and it's not even 10am!

LOL at Deb.

Glad your DP is around to help this week Paro. And good luck with the nursery.

Sorry Sponge and Deb! I'm not really blaming my age, I've been scatty for years. It was just a non subtle way of getting lots of 'happy birthdays' from you all!

HH - Last year was my best year ever, so I highly recommend the 30s! You're only a year away aren't you?

I've decided to forgo the gym for a morning of lying on the floor playing. Only 8 weeks to go until I go back to work so I am making the most of every minute with Ryder (except when I'm on here talking to you guys obviously!). BTW, that also means it's just 8 weeks until Xmas.....

alipalli · 27/10/2008 10:26

Happy belated birthday PP

Feeling scatty too.

Am I a bad mother because I am currently trying to disctract Peter with a rubber beer mat to chew whilst I type? It is a "Chang" one, so that has to be superior to say a "Tennants" one?

Deb we had a bad night too. I paid the price for Peter sleeping yesterday afternoon. The clock change seems to have made Peter go the opposite way. He didn't go to sleep till 10.30 last night, then woke at 11.30 (I had just gone to sleep), then again at 3.00, 4.30 and when I tried to put him back down at 5.00 he wasn't having it. He came into bed with us then and went to sleep just by being cuddled, till 6. He has been on the go since then...sigh...

spongebrainbigpants · 27/10/2008 10:57

fungle yes, we did baby massage and Alex loved it - although have to confess I don't often find time to do it now .

deb, I don't think I am old - I was telling PP off for making me feel it!! Btw, PP, belated happy birthday!

aberdeenhiker · 27/10/2008 13:58

PP - happy birthday! So far 31 has been a much better year than 30 for me, two months left of it too!

am a bad mother today I was fooling around with DS1 this morning and threatening to eat his banana. I leant in to grab a bite and ended up biting his finger instead. So much for parenting by example! Was tempted to loch myself in my room for a while (DS1's normal punishment for bad behaviour).

Fraser's sleeping like crap too but I think it's due to our trip. Poor wee boy! At least the time change has made the time difference only four hours instead of five for him.

alipalli · 27/10/2008 17:10

Aberdeen in Scotland do you get "loched" in rather than "locked" Poor you and poor DS1. Hope you are both fine now.

Today has been a very long day. Peter has hardly slept (20 mins all day) and he has just be shouting at me or full on crying for most of the afternoon unless I feed him, or bounce him. I am being given a small reprieve now: he is only squwarking at me currently. I could really do with DH coming home from work early, but realistically he wont get back for another two hours. Surely Peter must be ready for a very long sleep soon?

Sorry, for self-indulgent post. Feeling tired and fed up at the moment.

spongebrainbigpants · 27/10/2008 18:30

ali, sorry to hear you've had a tough day . Btw, Peter looks gorgeous in his pram suit!

Hope he sleeps well tonight x

AH, sure your DS will forgive you for biting! Maybe you should sit on the naughty step for a while - remember, a minute for every year of your life (perhaps I'll do that - at my age I'd have to time to read the paper!

alipalli · 27/10/2008 19:20

Thanks Sponge, the pramsuit picture is my current favourite! All of Alex's pictures are lovely, but I still really like the bumbo picture. I meant to tell you that weeks ago, but forgot and now it looks as though I am sucking up to you because you have complimented me on Peter's photo.

Peter has gone to sleep now thankfully, and DH came home at 7pm and is cooking dinner . I think Peter must be teething, he seems to be really cranky, and will suddenly be in floods of tears without any prior warning . In light of this PP & Hedgehog - you may find when we meet tomorrow that Peter is not the most social baby at the moment!

During my long day today it occurred to me that we are missing TGF, and Amber and Poppy, is everything alright ladies? Where is everyong? The thread has been very quiet today.

spongebrainbigpants · 27/10/2008 19:28

ali, lol at you sucking up to me - didn't take it like that at all, Alex does look very cute in his bumbo!

Glad Peter is now asleep and dh is looking after you. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Know what you mean about the thread being quiet today - where is everyone?

Have a good meet up tomorrow London ladies, I really hope I make it one day!

debinaustria · 27/10/2008 20:10

I am here, had a weird day with Ethan too Alli - he didn't sleep until about 2 this afternoon - by that point I was almost on my knees, and I lay on the settee but ds1 kept bringing his homework for me to check!, then he proceeded to feed or sleep most of the afternoon, he's just fed for 45 minutes and I've put him in his cot wide awake. No noise yet and it's his 1st night in the big cot, which is bigger than the cot sheets I bought from Ikea - his mattress looked like a banana until I stretched the sheet to ultimate stretchiness ( sleep deprived brain)

He looks so small in his cot, I didn't want him in it yet but he was getting himself wedged in the other one so it was time, maybe he'll sleep tonight.

PP - that's how I get a lie in too!

Amberc · 27/10/2008 20:48

Way too much to catch up on - have been at in laws before they go back to the states for 6 months. Was great and feel relaxed as they looked after Luke the whole time.

Whose idea was this clock change nonsense? Clearly someone without children. 4.30am wanting to get up and start the day is not funny. Bless him though the other side trying to keep him up the extra hour. We watched a film lying on the sofa and he kept rolling over to me and snuggling 'cos he was so tired and he never does that.

Josey - lots of hugs x x

PP happy birthday belatedly and see you tomoz.

PS read the wakeful 4 month old and Luke wakes up loads after only waking up once and he is bottle fed and drains the bottle at every feed so that's not his reason!

PPS suspending weaning due to 5 runny nappies a day - is that normal weaning people? He only had about a teaspoon of carrot one day and the same of apple the next. Maybe his tummy is not ready.

katyjo · 27/10/2008 21:32

Hi All

Debs Hangover is much better, don't seem to get the same headaches I got pre-children, just feel absolutely knackered (no change there then.

PP Happy belated birthday! I know what you mean about protecting your child, when you think your lo is in danger it is amazing how it gets the adrenaline pumping!

Paro Glad you are feeling better, we are all entitled to have meltdowns, I've had my fairshare anyway! (Maybe its just me!)

Fungle Sorry you had a rough night, I'm sure Isla will get back to normal time over the next few days.
I haven't started weaning yet either and Mia is over 5 months, she is really getting excited now so I let her suck my apple today, although she just slobbered all over it, she was holding very tightly onto my hand - am I a mean Mum? She isn't really a big milk drinker, so I don't think she's hungry just interested.

Aberdeen LOL at biting ds finger, I def think you should sit on the naughty step!!

Alipalli Mia is doing exactly the same, I decided she has either got a cold or she's teething. She has been a bit restless at night and her sleeps during the day have been a bit shorter.

Sounds like you had a good break Amber

Have a good night everyone

Sorry Amber, dont know if runny poos are normal - my two have def had more solid poos since starting solids.

So started new routine today (thanks Paro for posting yours) and it was hard tonight. Fed them tea at 5pm, bath at 6pm and bed at 7pm. Theo went to sleep quite well but then woke after 30 mins and cried for an hour (I went in after 5,10,20mins etc). Then at 8.30 I fed him and since then he has slept with just a couple of wakings (when he went back to sleep pretty well). Esther cried for about 30 mins at 7pm then slept for about 45 then woke at 8.30 and I fed her, then she has slept and woken and resettled herself since. She has been asleep since 9.30 and Theo since 9pm.

We very nearly cracked at 8.30 cos they seemed so distressed but after feeding them they have been ok.

Hoping there will be less crying tomorrow! It feels so awful to hear them cry but I just can't think what else to do. It is not just having our evenings, it is the fact that even if we kept them up it was just delaying the crying till 10pm. They need to know that 7pm is bedtime. Now they are six months old (well, 25 weeks) and on three meals a day they should be sleeping from 7pm.

Fungle, no you are not mean - I love the thought of her sucking your apple. That's all she needs at this stage if she is not unsettled. I started solids when mine seemed insatiable in the evenings - I was just feeding and feeding.

laughing boy!

I'll try not to bore you with too many videos now I've worked out how to do it!
