5go Christening/baptism sounds lovely. Can understand why you don't do cloth with all the laundry you must do anyway.

Agh, am upstairs and supposed to be doing some work for DH (mystery shopping a well known pizza chain which is changing its name as it has started doing pasta) but the laptop is playing up. So I am MNing on my Mac and the laptop is relegated to a corner agh

pleasechange · 20/10/2008 20:51

5gomad the baptism sounds lovely, glad it went well. And lol at your MIL comment!

HH are you eating the pizza/pasta? You're making me hungry

Had an exciting day as A rolled over for the first time. He did it 4 times in a row but then wouldn't do it for DH this eve!

spongebrainbigpants · 20/10/2008 21:31

Hedgehog, yes I did get my back from Lollipop - have also posted on the nappy thread from here and had loads of great advice. Wish I'd done it weeks ago.

Re: weaning. Alex can now sit unsupported (which is sooo cute!) and has definitely lost his tongue thrust reflex (could check today now I know what it is! ), BUT we think we have found the source of the unsettled nights and difficulties with feeding, etc. He is cutting his first tooth - white gum and big bump. Don't know how long it will take to come through now but don't think it will be much longer.

So, will be holding off weaning a bit longer and just enjoying the ease of bottle feeding!

Essie, funky nappies!

Amber, good to know that all the babies are doing this weird night thing - I'll remind myself of that as I get back into the habit of doing 3am feeds!

5GoMad, sounds like you had a lovely day - sorry to hear about the MIL though .

allnew, why do the LOs never perform when we want them to?!

Sorry, pointless doing all the formatting as you lose it everytime you copy and paste!

Just wondering whether it would make more sense to have the list in date order of the June babies so you know where your baby comes in terms of age?

What does everyone think?

Oooh - I get to go top of the list (for now) how exciting.

Weaning - I am in the "avoid as long as possible" camp. BF is working well for us, and I can do without the hassle. Peter can't sit up by himself, and although he certainly watches us eat, he watches us when we are not eating too. I also want to do BLW, so hopefully we will get to 6 months on BM and then start weaning just before Christmas time. Hedgehog if I remember correctly you are planning to BLW too? Have you seen that this is due to be published just in time for us? I am meaning to order it, but haven't got around to it yet so can't offer a review.

As Peter now exceeds the 9kg weight limit for his baby carrier I bit the bullet and have ordered a wrap sling today. I went for an ellaroo in the sea green colour. DH is moaning that its not blokey enough for him, but I figured that I am the one that is with Peter in the week when he has a screaming fit in his pram and has to be carried . These are meant to last until toddlerhood, so I guess my back will give out before the sling does.

We had a trip to the hospital today. Peter was referred at his 6 week check to the opthamologist as he had just been woken up and wasn't following the toy very well. They put some drops in his eyes to make the pupils dilate, and he promptly fell asleep. Maybe the drops were 100% gin? The good news is that all was fine, but we do have to go back in another 6 months for a check up.

alipalli · 20/10/2008 22:00

Sponge Good idea. Alhough this would put me back in the middle of the list [Alipalli harrumphs], but it makes sense and will be easier to read.

Actually I have been thinking about changing my nickname for ages as I am annoyed with myself for spelling "Ali" with one L and "Palli" with two. How anal does that make me? Anyone got any better suggestions for me? PP I am keen to avoid things along the lines of "bullet nipples" - ta!

Parofleurmapu · 20/10/2008 22:25

Am meant to be watching film with DP a michael cain and jude law one buts its too bizarre for my liking so checking in on here before i do the last feed.

5go mad - glad baptism went well and hope you get FIL business sorted

Good idea re age so have sorted the list hope no one minds have done it re age of our youngest child, also made our names in caps that shouldnt change with the re postings

Good morning

Sorry for lack of posting. I'm afraid I've only read the front page as we've had the sickness bug that is doing the rounds. I felt so awful, and poor DS couldn't keep anything down. DH and Dorothy seem to have escaped for the moment, so am keeping my fingers crossed.

Alipalli, very impressed my Peter's size and weight - that also means you can put him in a front facing car seat! Wow!

Sophie, glad you had a good Christening. All that entertaining you do - fantastic. Just realised that Edie and DS very close in age.

Hope everyone else is fine. Have added Dorothy and me to Deb's list:

I seem to have dropped off the list already! Are you guys trying to tell me something or what? I re-added myself and also Needahand who is similarly missing. If we are doing it in date order would it be easier to have the date first? Look at both of these and then let's poll!

Lord I am tired today. Another broken night but not quite as bad as before. Then when I brought the baby in to see DP instead of asking how I am or how the baby slept he accused me of breakong the electronic blinds (which work by remote control). It's like the TV breaking down and accusing me of doing it by pressing the remote control buttons wrongly - WTF? Men.

It is cold today. Need to buy 2.5 tog grobags but they are so expensive. Luke has started to kick off regular blakets though so not much choice.

Hope everyone had a better night than me.

Been reading a weaning thread linked to another on babycentre where they are weaning their babies as early as 11 weeks and giving them chocolate buttons and custard!!!!! Somne people have posted the guidelines and they are getting their backs up saying that they are intruders and beiong aggressive bit 11 weeks old - that's not even 3 months. Makes me want to call social services again!! Lots of today.

hedgehog1979 · 21/10/2008 09:38

ohhh its all so complicated with the list. although I do like the second one with the date first.
ali thanks for the link to that book, I have added it to my amazon wishlist to prevent me getting loads of tat from MIL!!
Have already been out twice today - once to pick DH up from work (he has his CEO's coming on Thurs so is cleaning everything) and then an hour later to take him back. The electrics on his car seem to have packed up - All good when my MOT, and tax are due as well [sad

I don't get to eat the pizza/pasta (20+ pizzas is a lot) I get to the end of the call and then have to give them feedback - this is one of the things I did before moving south to be a Bank Manager, and it is all extra spending money

Off swimming later, after mums and babes, and then will have to pick DH up from work as well, there goes me making a tank of petrol last a month

Parofleurmapu · 21/10/2008 09:44

oopps sorry sybil!! I like your second one better its much clearer

alipalli · 21/10/2008 10:05

I like the second list. Welldone Sybil Amber re grobags - have you tried TK Maxx? We got a summer weight one on there back in May for £16 rather than full price at c. £25. Still expensive IMO. It was a grobag brand too. Sorry about your bad night and unhelpful DH. [Ali whispers]: Peter only woke once last night. Bound to just be a blip though. Non the less I am feel much more human today. I saw you on the weaning thread. Decided not to read the threads on the other sites as I thought it would annoy me too much.

Shame about the lack of pizza hedgehog - not ideal for BLW though.

We are off to visit a friend who has just had her second DC. There is only a 20 months gap between the two. She is a wonderful Mum and I am sure she is handling it brilliantly. Can't imagine that I would though.
