Not been on for ages - so much to catch up with.
Heinz - hello and welcome. October people have far too much time on their hands .
Dal - congrats to Dylan for nearly walking. Anya is standing on her own quite a lot now but hasn't actually taken any steps yet (not counting that random single one from a couple of weeks ago that I didn't see!) You sound really upbeat about coming off the ad's and ttc - fingers crossed for you hun.
Mine - how can work 'not accept' your resignation?? Surely if you give them notice that you're leaving then you can just leave at the end of the notice period?
Stefka - So sorry about job. Hope something else comes along soon. Good news about the £700 debt! Agree with you re bond films. Casino Royale was good but it wasn't Bond iyswim. But I don't fancy Daniel Craig at all (sorry alicet) which probably doesn't help.
Crochet - congrats on the singing competition.
Happy belated birthday to Rebecca.
Have only been skim-reading posts so probably missed loads.
Did Eggheads audition this week - I made such a fool of myself! We had to do a written quiz - only about a dozen questions - much easier than the battle of the brains one. But then we did had an eggheads-style competition against another team! So one of our team against one of theirs on a given subject - we got one multiple choice question each and then if it was a tie we got a tie-break question and you had to shout your name out if you knew the answer. Anyway, I took the music round and my multiple choice question was which band was Stevie Nicks in - Human League, Fleetwood Mac or New Seekers? I knew it wasn't Human League but couldn't decide whether or not it was Fleetwood Mac. Eventually decided it wasn't so went for New Seekers (much to despair of fellow teammates). But the other team got theirs wrong too so we had tie-break. Who sang theme tune to Bond film You Only Live Twice? Niether of us knew (Nancy Sinatra). Another tie-break - Mrs Lovell was a character in which Steven Sondheim musical? After a very long tumble-weed silence I said I knew but couldn't actually think of the name - I got as far as the one with the barber in it and she cooks the pies (Sweeny Todd). ANOTHER tie-break - Candle in the Wind was written about which person (think he'd decided to give us an easy one by this point!) - I knew it straight away but couldn't remember my name to shout out!!! The other guy got there a fraction of a second before me, so I lost the round. But our 3 previous teammates had also lost theirs so I didn't feel too bad! Our last 2 won theirs so we lost overall. Doesn't have any bearing on whether they choose us or not, they just wanted to see what we'd be like in a competition situation. Good fun but very frustrating!
Off to Bents garden centre today (FT will know where I'm talking about) to look at fabulous Christmas displays.
