disgusting

Stefka · 15/11/2008 09:16

That is just horrible.

J2O · 15/11/2008 10:39

lmao of that heelarious link, as if people really put babies in them!

I had a lie in this morning because dd1 got up with Shannon, fed her, dressed her and put her in the pram for a nap (even though she doesn't have a morning one anymore) and she had half an hour! And she washed up, hoovered and put the steriliser on, bless her.

i'm going to take them both swimming this morning to say thank you.

Re the car, i got the part and took it to my dad, who has got ramps and he fitted it, booked in for retest on Mon so hopefully it will pass.

Stefka · 15/11/2008 11:59

Wow J20 - how old is DD1! How nice of her

J2O · 15/11/2008 15:08

Stefka, she's 8.5 going on 21, couldn't quite find the bit that she'd hovered but the thought was there.
Well swimming was OK, bit of a nightmare trying to keep Shannon warm and safe while i showered, but we managed, may start going every Sat, i got in free too as i used to work there

How's everyone else today?

HeinzSight · 15/11/2008 15:21

J20 your DD sounds LOVELY Glad you enjoyed swimming. I haven't taken Niamh for AGES , I must MUST take her because she loved it the last time we went

I'm knackered, I eventually gave up nudging the snoring walrus that is my DH at 1am and went and made up bed in spare room!!!

J2O · 15/11/2008 15:31

einz-she's really helpful with Shannon, just very gobby vocal about things, which usually get her in trouble, especialy as she's getting old enough for it to be unattractive rather than cute and funny.

I've only taken Shannon swimming twice now apart from on holiday-its just such hard work getting everything organised to do it isn't it.

I so don't envy you the snoring, thats why i like having my bed to myself most nights

TheLadyEvenstar · 15/11/2008 20:37

Hiya ladies,
well you know that cheap bargain xmas I was having??? it is getting more expensive every second!!!!

Why did nobody phone me today to stop me spending??????

Stefka · 15/11/2008 21:02

Well done for going swimming! I have only taken Dareh a couple of times mainly because I hate swimming myself. I hate being seen in a swimming costume. I need to get over it for his sake I guess as it isn't fair on him.

My DH also snores like mad. He works a lot of nights though so I get the bed to myself.

LES - I bet you didn't buy anything you won't enjoy giving.

My neighbours have moved to a posh large house on an estate near us. I am super jealous as I would love more space. We are bursting out of this wee place. They were so sweet though and popped round to give us a bottle of wine to thank us for being nice neighbours - how nice is that!

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 16/11/2008 09:17

Not been on for ages - so much to catch up with.

Heinz - hello and welcome. October people have far too much time on their hands .

Dal - congrats to Dylan for nearly walking. Anya is standing on her own quite a lot now but hasn't actually taken any steps yet (not counting that random single one from a couple of weeks ago that I didn't see!) You sound really upbeat about coming off the ad's and ttc - fingers crossed for you hun.

Mine - how can work 'not accept' your resignation?? Surely if you give them notice that you're leaving then you can just leave at the end of the notice period?

Stefka - So sorry about job. Hope something else comes along soon. Good news about the £700 debt! Agree with you re bond films. Casino Royale was good but it wasn't Bond iyswim. But I don't fancy Daniel Craig at all (sorry alicet) which probably doesn't help.

Crochet - congrats on the singing competition.

Happy belated birthday to Rebecca.

Have only been skim-reading posts so probably missed loads.

Did Eggheads audition this week - I made such a fool of myself! We had to do a written quiz - only about a dozen questions - much easier than the battle of the brains one. But then we did had an eggheads-style competition against another team! So one of our team against one of theirs on a given subject - we got one multiple choice question each and then if it was a tie we got a tie-break question and you had to shout your name out if you knew the answer. Anyway, I took the music round and my multiple choice question was which band was Stevie Nicks in - Human League, Fleetwood Mac or New Seekers? I knew it wasn't Human League but couldn't decide whether or not it was Fleetwood Mac. Eventually decided it wasn't so went for New Seekers (much to despair of fellow teammates). But the other team got theirs wrong too so we had tie-break. Who sang theme tune to Bond film You Only Live Twice? Niether of us knew (Nancy Sinatra). Another tie-break - Mrs Lovell was a character in which Steven Sondheim musical? After a very long tumble-weed silence I said I knew but couldn't actually think of the name - I got as far as the one with the barber in it and she cooks the pies (Sweeny Todd). ANOTHER tie-break - Candle in the Wind was written about which person (think he'd decided to give us an easy one by this point!) - I knew it straight away but couldn't remember my name to shout out!!! The other guy got there a fraction of a second before me, so I lost the round. But our 3 previous teammates had also lost theirs so I didn't feel too bad! Our last 2 won theirs so we lost overall. Doesn't have any bearing on whether they choose us or not, they just wanted to see what we'd be like in a competition situation. Good fun but very frustrating!

Off to Bents garden centre today (FT will know where I'm talking about) to look at fabulous Christmas displays.

alicet · 16/11/2008 14:35

J2O what a star dd1 was! So she can be lovely when she chooses... Great to get a break!

WWAJC I wouldn't have got any of those questions either!

Well I've been keeping in touch but not getting round to posting again I'm afraid so thats where my memory ends...

Went to Rebecca's birthday party yesterday. Choc seems on good form she says she does keep in touch with what we're all up to but rarely has time to post... R is supercute with lovely curls!

I might be meeting up with her this week too as my hospital is just over the road from where she works. And I am likely not to be too busy for the next couple of weeks due to a comedy injusry.

I was trying to recline the pushchair with Adam in it on Thurs as we were at the aquarium and it was one of those tunnels where the fish swim over your head and I thought he would enjoy it better lying down. It wasn't budging to I pushed in the buttons harder and ended up bending my right thumb all the way back. Bloody hurt I can tell you and it took every ounce of will power not to swear my head off! It was still sore on Friday am so I took myself off to a hand clinic at work and to cut a long story short I have sprained an important ligament at the base of my thumb and must wear a splint for at least 2 weeks before going back. I won't be able to operate or do my on calls and probably won't be able to do anything involving patient contact as I will not be able to wash my hands properly and the splint itself is an infection risk!

Changing nappies and doing bits and pieces at home is no picnic either but I am getting there... Going into work tomorrow am as normal but will need to see occ health and infecton control to find out what the crack is... I'll keep you posted!

inzi, how VERY exciting!!!!!!!! Why are you having an MRI scan?

alicet, ouch ouch! I take it you're a surgeon??

We had a lazy day yesterday, a DVD day as we often call it! Today we went to a Turkey farm for a tasting day. The Turkeys were hilarious, they all came running over 'gobble gobbling', thought Niamh might be frightened but she loved it. Am glad the sight of these alive and happy birds running around didn't make DH want to turn veggie again! He was a vegetarian for 18 yrs (no fish or anything) and started eating meat 2 yrs ago!

Sorry about your knee inzi, hope that doesn't make ahem difficult

Lisa knows our story. But briefly, DH was involved in a hit and run 2 years ago and was knocked off his motorbike, he has a paralysed arm. But shortly after his accident he was having loads of post operative problems eg wounds not healing etc. A couple of nurses (on separate occasions!) asked him if he was a veggie!

He made lots of life changing decisions after the accident, inc agreeing to having our gorgeous DD!

I seriously don't think he'd go back to vegetarianism, he LOVES sausages too much! They have to be 'Finest' cumberland, he's quite particular

HeinzSight · 16/11/2008 21:56

I curiously did click on 'link' , was intrigued at the ahemness!

Yes Heinz I am a surgeon (I work 3 days a week plus on call). Love my job but the thought of a couple of weeks chilling certainly has it's appeal too SOrry to hear about your dh's accident although not sorry your gorgeous dd resulted . Did they get the shite person who hit him?

Inzi I was about to click on the 'ahem' too although I read it wasn't meant to be a link first!!!

alicet · 16/11/2008 22:31

Anyone else watch i'm a celeb? Vow not to each year! Need to slap Kilroy-Silk already!!!!
