muppetgirl - I find with crumble that if you put a liberal dose of sugar over the top, that helps to make it crunchy. I also use 1/2 oats, 1/2 flour ,,, I'go and see if I can dig out the recipe ...

J2O · 12/11/2008 12:17

muppet-how about some nice fish or pork loin? (can't remember, you're not a veggie are you?)

meant to say, muppet-sorry about your headache, its one of the worst pains ever along with toothache imo.
Ft-I have got my fingers crossed that Alex lets you get some sleep soon, i have the upmost sympathy for you, thank God Shannon has been going through lately, i feel so tired as it is, i know i couldn't cope. I can't work out why i'm so tired, i think i should get out in the sun more, maybe i have a bit of that SAD thing ghoing on.

LES- i would have probably done the same when angry, but if i could have calmed down and not done it, i'd have tried not to cos i wouldn't want her knowing that she has upset me.

muppetgirl · 12/11/2008 12:38

Tles -yes please sorry I've been a bit crap.
Crochet/thanks for ideas x I've started ordering a veggie box and you get what you get which is actually quite good as we'll eat stuff we'd never had bought iyswim. Spring greens and cabbage being a good example!

I have oranges, what can I do with those as no-one here likes them whole as such. Would orange curd work? I have a great recipe for lemon curd that we all love.

TheLadyEvenstar · 12/11/2008 14:28

Crochet.....can you knit/crochet wool soakers???

crochetdiva · 12/11/2008 14:39

Have just looked on ravelry, and there are patterns ... how many do you want? What size? Do you want to get the yarn, or shall I?

So many questions ... I have now finally finished sorting out the photo stuff ... on photobox they've got an offer on for 25% off photobooks - that's the grnadparents' Christmas pressies from the kids sorted out! (Well, actually, my parents' pressies - I refuse to sort sort out the IL's pressies this year...)

J2O · 12/11/2008 14:54

Crochet, errrr 2 will do to start as I have one I made from a recycled sweater lol its cool though!!

Zachary is in 24m clothes..he weighs 28lb hope that helps!!! and if you can get the wool that would be easier as i have no idea what worsted wool is lmao

FloriaTosca · 12/11/2008 17:00

Muppet; My Mum taught me crumble toppings but I do it by feel rather than exact weight... I know she based hers on a scone recipie but add sugar ... and we do tend to put a little more butter in than most recipies... (and a cheats method is use Tescos own crumble mix). Deep, deep sympathy on the migraine.. those are classic symptoms (not everyone gets the flashing lights).. as far as I'm aware there is no effective pain killers you can take for it while pg either ...I used to suffer them with horrific regularity so totally understand how difficult it is to function while suffering, well done for managing as well as you did...for me I avoided them by never having red wine, cheese, caffine or cream and treated them by laying down in a dark room with cold compresses as already suggested.

..got to go teach....back later

crochetdiva · 12/11/2008 18:24

tLES - would this one be ok?

strawberrylace · 12/11/2008 21:34

Hello everyone!
You have indeed been very chatty - not sure what I have been doing whilst I've been away, but nothing exciting springs to mind!

Stefka - just wanted to say sorry that you didn't get the job - hope you manage to keep your spirits up, as you obviously did very well to come second to someone with so much experience. Not that that's really any consolation I know
Muppet - we get a veggie box too, but no great ideas for cabbage - its the one thing that always sits in the fridge for ages!
Crotchet - have emailed about the secret santa - i loved doing the birthday one!
Heinz - welcome - and now I am going to be forced to join facebook to learn your secrets
To everyone feeling under the weather - hope you are back to your normal selves soon

TheLadyEvenstar · 12/11/2008 21:44

errrr being blonde who am i emailing about secret santa?

LisaLessLumpy · 13/11/2008 07:51

tLes - You are emailing Crochet

she said...

Secret Santa - I?ll do a thingy on facebook too, but what I need from you is your name, address and MN id (although I think I know most people?s now!) ? I think I?ll say I need them by This Sunday ? then I?ll match everybody up ? we?ll be buying each other (not the kids ? they get quite enough, thank you very much! grin) a pressie up to the value of about £7.50. Home-made things are fine, but you should try to match it to your spoilee ? anyway ? email me at Eirian Thomas 232 AT googlemail DOT com if you want to do it ?

Stefka · 13/11/2008 12:37

Hey all,

catching up here as I didn't post yesterday - didn't feel like being on line. Thank you all for your lovely thoughts. I feel a bit better today. Muppet you made a really good point about if the woman with eight years experience was struggling to get work then the fact that I can't get a job isn't about me. It's hard to keep going but I just have to and hopefully something will come up soon.

Inzi - I am going to look into something like call centre work. I tried to search on the job centre page but it kept giving me jobs in London! Might have to go down to the local centre or something. As for how often I go out - I often have days at home. The weather is vile apart from anything else. Dareh isn't walking yet so that isn't an issue.

Crochet - well done coming second! I would like to do something like a choir - singing is good for the soul I think. I hadn't thought about a franchise. It's not something I know anything about actually so I will have to do some research on that. Let me know how you get on with your weekend away. I haven't been away from Dareh over night yet and am wondering how the boobs will cope if I ever do it.

LES - that was some email! Did you decide to send it in the end? She sounds awful.

We had some good news. Seven years ago my DH lent £700 to a Bulgarian friend that we worked with who buggered off back home to his own country before paying us back. We were pretty shocked at the time as he was a decent bloke. Anyway found out he is back in the UK and he has arranged to get the money back to us! It's going straight on DH's credit card as we are desperate to get rid of those debts - they are really expensive so we won't see the money as such but it will help reduce our monthly payments. Never thought we would see that money again and it really couldn't come at a better time!

HeinzSight · 13/11/2008 13:29

Hi all, just popping in (oops, almost wrote pooping in!) to say hi quickly. Have spent ages reading all posts since I last was on, blimey I need to get back on track!! I've joined the facebook group, my initials are NH, profile pic is of me and DH (in bow tie). Was going to write loads of stuff but DD has decided to wake up, but I'll forgive her that, she has been asleep for a while. Life is just SO hectic at the moment, I hardly seem to get a chance to stop, I WILL eventually catch up and have all the mess in my house in some sort of order! x

FloriaTosca · 13/11/2008 14:56

Stefka; That is one bit of good news at least... lets hope it is the first bit of light at the end of the tunnel

Inzi; I get outside with Alex most days...the dog needs walking so we go out with the pram..I rarely let Alex walk as it is very rural and far too muddy but we often end up at the park so he gets to see other los..and we have talkfirst classes and swimming lessons and bounce&rhyme to go to as well as meeting up with some of the other mums and los from the baby massage class we went to.

J2O · 13/11/2008 15:04

have added you Heinz

Stef its good that you feel a littlr better and great that you're going to be able to pay a bit of the cc off.

hi to everyone else, Shannon is really whingy today and my car failed its MOT so not in the best of moods. I suppose i should be greateful i haven't got one of them toxic mils that seem to be popping up all over MN lately!

FloriaTosca · 13/11/2008 16:39

...got interrupted by a pupil arriving early.....

...I was going to say that the mums from massage do tea and toy mornings (play dates)so it doesnt cost us anything and it gets us all out.

J20;sorry about the car...theres nothing more frustrating,(can't you tell I have been in the same situation a few times) I hope it wont cost too much to get it through its retest...my cars have only ever done it to me when I was skint!

I'm going to have to get on facebook and catch up

strawberrylace · 13/11/2008 17:37

hello everyone!
I have a poorly DS today, so have had to spend the day working from home. He's got a high temp and is snotty, and has been super-cuddly all day. not his normal self at all. cried for 15mins solid this morning and would not be comforted - that may not sound too bad, but he never cries like that! so i decided it was not a good idea to take him to the childminder. and i have managed to get on with some work, but not sure what my new boss will think....

Stefka - that is really good news about the payback
J20 - grrr about the car....
