Oh hi stefka I considered buying a cake, think there's nothing wrong with that at all but I just fancy making one. Don't know if i'll get round to it though, i've never made one before so will be asking MIL for tips.

Morning all

Lots of missed birthdays - HAPPY BIRTHDAY all you lovely LOs!!! and mummies too Strawberry!

LLL - fab cake.

Stefka, Alice - I'm gonna buy one too- a fruity Christmas Cake type cake I'm thinking - don't think I have time to clean the house and make a cake before teh weekend. But DH is planning on icing it - he's the arty one in our family. I'm quite excited about it.

Bought Huw's present on e-bay last night! A push-along-ride-on sheepdog. It's sooo cute. I just hope it turns up in time and doesn't stink of smoke or anything like that. Always a risk with ebay. H was playing with a similar one at the weekend and LOVED it.

Anyway, am at work, and have loads to do.

DD sick at home poor love.

Sorry I haven't had a chance for a proper catch up. I did sit down and make a list to reply to everyone a couple of days ago, but I got called away, and now I've lost the list! And no doubt things have moved on anyway. Hope everyone's ok.

Happy Birthday Anya!!

love

Ax

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANYA

muppetgirl · 07/10/2008 14:29

Happy Birthday Anya!!!!!

Having to take Dexter to the vets today as he spent this morning's walk going for every dog he saw even when I put him on the lead ( I know this can make them worse) He then started limping so I think his bad mood was of the pain he's in as he was like this yesterday but with no limp. I am going to the vet with him on my own with Ollie and Henry so I'm a little nervous as he messes in the waiting room and couple with his off mood I hope we don't meet any other dogs...
He's normally so lovely I hope he's done nothing serious

Raining here so I have been tidying ready for my Brother, sil and nephew's arrival tomorrow night. I am sooooooooo excited as it's been 2 1/2 years and I'm not embarrassed to say I miss him terribly xxx

My £5 pram from ebay is fab. It's an old Inglesina one that I had with Ollie that dh broke but it goes completely flat but sits right upright which Henry already loves. We went out this morning (with the grumpy, in pain Labrador!) and I had it like a pram and Henry nearly went to sleep so that's fab. Dh hates it -he hated Ollie?s' pram so I'm not at all surprised -but as he hardly ever pushes Henry in a pram I said I wanted this one to make my life easier so there you go.

Dal -Are you having any other therapy? I would definitely have a chat with the Dr but would keep in mind that the tablets aren't really designed to make you more motivated as such, more level you out so you can cope with everyday life and situations. Motivation may come after a period of calmness where you feel you have space to look around you and take stock rather like seeing the woods for the trees as it were. I would set yourself 1 small goal per day that is achievable. Don?t think about what you should do, what you could do, you have to take yourself from where you are at the moment. I set myself the goal of trying to get out at least once a day even if it was juts to go and buy a paper I probably wouldn't read! This meant I would see others, take out Ollie etc. What small thing could you do each day? It can be something different and not a fixed 'thing'.

FloriaTosca · 07/10/2008 15:46

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

alicet · 07/10/2008 17:47

Happy birthday Anya!

Sorry just a quickie before boys get home from nursery... Hello to all the rest of you too of course but I will be back later for more chat hopefully

Stefka · 07/10/2008 18:19

Happy Birthday Anya!!!

Dalry - I would also say that therapy is worth thinking about. I had some a few years back and found it hard work but helpful.

Hope the vets went well muppet.

It's my birthday tomorrow - not really looking forward to it. There is something about birthdays that makes you do the whole assess your life thing and I don't feel that great about mine right now (with the exception of my wee boy of course!).

Got the new car seat yesterday. Went for a rear facing one again in the end. Couldn't get the video's of the test dummies out of my head. It is very nice anyway which is just as well as it was expensive!

muppetgirl · 07/10/2008 18:24

Thanks Floria it was a bit of an ordeal but not as bad as I'd envisaged!!
I got Henry out of the car and into his little pushchair, Dex was sat with the boot open all obedient like (more a 'Please don?t take me in there.....) I got Ollie out of the car and then promptly caught his head on the door as I shut it. He was distraught poor thing, I felt awful but Dex still sat in the boot (If I sit here nicely they won?t take me in...?)
We got to the door with Ollie snuffling, the first set was electric so they opened and the second a heavy set of doors you have to open. It was very difficult with an upset little boy, pushing a pram with a dog that desperately wanted to be elsewhere.

Dexter then pooed as soon as we got though the door

I did clean it up and the ladies were lovely about it.

I had to resist the urge to shout
'We're here then -ta da!!!!!'

Dex shook his way through the consultation I nearly cried as he was so anxious. The vet thinks he may have arthritis as it is intermittent. He didn't want to bend his leg so she's given him some anti inflamitories (sp?) to see if that helps and she'll see him in a weeks time for an x-ray if it's not. He is stiff in the mornings, finds the cold tough yet still bounds around like a new born puppy. He loves to swim but we know he won?t move for a couple of days afterwards if he does swim so the stream where we are seems to be good for him to wade in as he gets his water fix but doesn't hurt himself. (this is the dog that bounded down the canal at the bottom of my friend's lane and promptly jumped in not noticing the 2 foot sheer drop that would mean he couldn?t get out! Dh had to drag him out. A wet Labrador isn?t an easy thing to manoeuvre)

So we shall see. I've bought him and Stan new inserts for their beds as theirs were getting manky so he has a nice fresh bed to sleep on.

Floria -do you think a curved bed is a bad idea? Should he just have a flat bed? He does love his bed but I do wonder if this contributes to his stiffness?

Stan has come on leaps and bounds. He loves his brushes now and the walks seem to have cured the pooing. Yay! Long may it last.

J2O · 07/10/2008 20:04

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANYA!

Muppet-awww poor you , Dexter and Ollie, couldn't help giggling at the vet story (not about the diagnosis, the ordeal for you managing to get in) but purely in sympathy for you!

well, everyone came to the party on Sunday, and it seems that well over half of them caught the S&D bug Well...i did warn them, and Shannon likes to share. DD1 has also got it so its a constant circle of washing, running with buckets, tissues, glasses of water, just to start all over again. Shannon seems to have got over the sickness (fingers crossed) but still has been having bad nappies, all up her back.
Both the girls are in bed now, so going to try and get bathed, cleaned up and college work done!

hope everyone is ok xx

J2O · 07/10/2008 20:13

p.s happy birhday for tommorrow Stefka xx

strawberrylace · 07/10/2008 21:01

Happy birthday Anya!
And happy birthday for tomorrow Stefka!

Thank you all for my birthday messages, thanks to my sis Bogwoppit's gatecrashing! I keep trying to forget my birthday as i'm getting old... But i did get a special birthday girl badge from my mum to remind everyone at the party that it was my bday! And a lovely bracelet from my boys - it's a kind of charm bracelet called lovelinks that you add silver and coloured glass beads to - so that'll be all my future birthday/christmas presents from dh sorted

LLL - that is a great cake - i thought about making one for about 5 minutes, and then just went to tescos and bought two flat tray ones!
J20 - hope everyone in your house is getting better
Dal - good luck with the doc's appointments for you and ds

Hello to everyone else! hope you are all ok

Dalrymps · 07/10/2008 21:23

Happy Birthday Anya !

Happy Birthday Stefka for tomorrow!

Muppet/Stefka - Will ask the doc about therapy/counselling when I have my appointment tomorrow. I feel as if it would help but am a little worried i'll have to wait ages to get some or that she'll refuse to refer me in the first place.

I have a lot of issues re my parents and the way they have treated me, I feel on some level it would be good to discuss this but I also feel it would be very difficult as i've gotten sick of talking about it in the past and kind of forgotten/buried a lot of it now as it's too stressfull to think about it.

I'll se what she says anyway.

Dylan had his blood test with the paed this morning, he was a total angel, didn't turn a hair . Paed said he doesn't expect anything back from the results but if there is anything he'll call within a few weeks.

J20 - Hope everyone in your house is feeling better soon.

I spent the day at PIL's today, was nice to have some company and to get out. Had a nice chat with MIL about how i'm feeling, she's such a lovely person

Anyway, off to chill with dh, hi to everyone i've missed, chat soon.

FloriaTosca · 07/10/2008 21:25

J20;glad you had a good party but sorry about the bug, it is truly dreadful and we found passing to all visitors made us feel like we should have been ringing bells and chanting "unclean" Hope the worst is over for you all.

Stefka; Happy birthday for tomorrow

Muppet; Well done on negotiating the vets. Hope Ollie is ok now.fantastic news about Stan it will make life much happier for all of you.Poor Dex having arthritis...fish oil on his dinner should help...swimming in warm water is good excersise for arthritis too (we have a canine hydrotherapy pool near us)When Cindy developed arthritis we did the above,to compliment the anti-inflamatories, and got her a memory foam bed to sleep on...she loved it. I hope the anti-inflamatories do the trick for Dex.

FloriaTosca · 07/10/2008 21:32

x-postd Dal; glad all went well with the paed. Fabulous that you have such a lovely mil...perhaps with that sort of support at home now, having a glance back at the past with a councellor wont be as bad as talking about it before...?... I hope the gp agrees.

I'm off to chill with dh too..night all

Dalrymps · 07/10/2008 21:33

Yeah thanks floria, maybe it will be easier now... Will see.

OP posts:
J2O · 07/10/2008 21:42

Dal-If its anything like here, you could be waiting 6 months/a year to get an appointment with a counsellor. I would think you should go very slowly with the therapy, and from experience, be prepared for the sheer exhaustion you feel from the different emotions you go through in that 1 hour, not trying to dissuade you at all, as i'm sure in the long run it is the best thing to do., just thought i should mention it as my friend has been going through various counselling and now therapy and is really quite affected by it. Good news on the pead appointment

FT-I know! keep thinking...was it the food?? even though i know it wasn't!

Stefka · 07/10/2008 21:56

I think the hard thing about therapy is that it does get a bit worse before it gets better because you are digging through all these painful issues. I think these things fester away though if you don't deal with them and will come out another way. Worth asking about it anyway. I found therapy very hard but very worthwhile.

J2O · 07/10/2008 22:09

Stefka-I find it comes out best after a bottle of Rose wine!;)

Seriously though, it can be a long process, but worth it in the long run.

Dalrymps · 07/10/2008 22:20

Yeah thats what I figured. I can imagine exactly how i'll feel after discussing things and kind of don't want to drag it all up as I know it will wear me out. At the same time I can see it would be worthwhile.

Stefka · 08/10/2008 08:39

I thought I'd post the updated birthday list..are there only 15 of us still posting? I seem to remember there being over 40 of us last year...the only one I know offor certain is Buffythenappyslayer who was moving to a new-build house when she was due and then Scarlett was born with cystic fibrosis (like her older sister)and at just days old needed an operation for a bowel obstruction...Buffy was amazing coping with everything but developed severe pnd after the christening (around christmas time)and though I have heard from her sporadically (my fault I'm a rubbish correspondant)she hasnt posted on here since. Any of you know what happened (apart from the obvious)to any of the others?

J2O · 08/10/2008 09:30

FT-how is Buffy? who was the one that is pg again?

ChocolateHobnob · 08/10/2008 10:23

Anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all the latest babes- Anya, Ollie, Strawberry herself, Shannon, Ben, etc! J20 - what a pain about the bug (same happened to you as Floria - how weird is that?) - but I guess you were doing these people a favour by building up their immunity
