Muppet - sorry that you're not well - hope you are better soon. Thanks all for your birthday wishes. We had a good day although Rory isn't well and had been up through the night and then from 4.20am . It was a bit too much like 1 year ago!!! However we did manage a lovely walk and then cupcakes and juice in the garden with his grandparents, sisters and dh who'd nipped home from work. His favourite present was a £1 soft football from the supermarket
Tomorrow cousins and aunties and uncles are coming so hopefully he'll be feeling better then.
I have no idea where that year has gone ....

alicet · 03/10/2008 22:06

Muppet big hugs hope you're feeling better...

Crochet have posted on your other thread hope you manage to get it sorted...

Hello everyone else! Just trying to make all the food for Adam's party tomorrow so will have to be brief. Hope all is well with you all xxx

strawberrylace · 03/10/2008 22:42

Hello everyone
What a wierd day! Spent most of it shopping for birthday presents with MIL - who insisted on buying practically everything, including new shoes for DS . Lost the car parking ticket, which cost us loads to replace... (tho MIL paid again, and i felt really bad, cos I'd had the ticket, but she refused to let me pay)
DS still has bad cold, so I had to leave early from the kids birthday party we'd gone to this teatime, to get him home to bed - by which time he was all croaky and overtired, and wouldn't eat any tea.
And have ended up leaving DH there, drinking with his friends, cos it's his birthday today, and I felt bad about dragging him away. So this is the second rubbish birthday he's had, as this time last year I was stuck in the hospital over night, as they had started my induction for DS, but had to stop it cos too many others giving birth
So I am home alone with a poorly baby

J2O · 03/10/2008 23:02

hope you're ok muppet and tucked up in bed.
strawbeery thats nice of mil we tried to get Shannon fitted for shoes today at clarks, she was a 2.5 in one shoe and a 3 in the other, Richie offered to buy her them for her birthday, but i thought i'd wait a few weeks till she is actually walking, she always loses her socks, so i'd be pretty annoyed if a £20 shoe got chucked out of the pram and i didn't notice! Oh and re the parking ticket... Richie came to pick us up from the shopping centre, he was very pleased that he got a P&C space, sniggering about the dirty looks he was getting, knowing full well he'd be coming back to the car with Shannon, we get back, and i'm looking in all the P&C spaces, can't find it, turns out he parked in a disabled one, a couple of spaces from where the P&C finish and got a £70 fine! stupid twat.

Shannon has been ill the past couple of weeks, she screamed all night for 2 nights this week, can't wait for her teeth to come! she's still snotty and grumpy, but seems to finally getting better.

Inzi- sorry about dhs jpb, you're not having it easy at the moment are you hope things look up really soon for you.

hi to everyone else, I have no chance of catching up with everyone, but have tried to keep reading what everyone is up to.

Oh and Shannons secret santa gift arrived today, but i wasn't in so will probably have to pick it up on Monday as i don't think it will be back at the sorting office till then!

i'm going to go to bed and cross my fingers that i don't get another screaming fit tonight.

love to all xx

I did write to school to ask for the thur and fri off but I've head nothing though Ollie was off thurs and fri this week. They aren't bringing their daughter, our niece as we've not met her and they are away sat night at a wedding so it wouldn't be fair to leave her with us. very as not met her but I am determined we will get over to Canada next year.

Muppet sorry to hear you're still feeling crap. Hope you feel better soon!

Had a lovely party fo Adam this am with a few friends. Choc and her dd and dh came too and they are all really well. R is a proper cutie with curly hair and Choc looked really well. She has been back atg work so a touch busy!

ChocolateHobnob · 04/10/2008 15:30

Hello everyone! Long time no chat. I miss you all but it's v busy working and parenting - any spare moment you have is gone! Anyway trying to remember what everyone has said and failing - will just say Happy Birthday to all these los. How can they be a year old already?! Time has flown, really.

We've been to Adam's party today. He's so tall and grown up!!! Alice provided yummy food and the highlights for me were her DS1 Sam shouting 'cake!' at the appropriate time and the ecstatic expression of a baby as she tucked into chocolate cake! Rebecca had a lovely time and left exhausted, but of course has refused sleep ever since.

Work is fine: hectic. Rebecca likes nursery, thankfully, 3 days a week. And I am juggling things just about (exhausted emoticon needed...). Ages till she's one! Anyway I promise to be better at staying in touch from now on. Take care all! xx

Stefka · 04/10/2008 16:12

Sorry you are poorly muppet - take it easy and I hope you get better soon.

Nice to hear from you choc!

Just got off the phone from the perfect sister in law. Her DD is of course doing a million things that Dareh is not. She's really nice but she can't half make me feel like crap. She mentioned she had bought her DD a walker thingy. I said we had no money at the moment - and we really don't. We are in financial trouble. She said "Well we have no money either but it is important for her development". I wanted to tell her to fuck off. They have two wages coming into the house for a start which we do not. There is a difference when you really have no money. Also I hated the suggestion that I was not doing the best for Dareh's development.

Then she started going on about what we were doing for his birthday. I said not much (money again) - something simple on the day which is a Tuesday. So she comes back with ' So you are not doing anything for him then' umm no that is not what I said. She then said I've to call her and let her know if they should come stay the weekend before or after his birthday for the party . ! I would love to see them and all that but I didn't bloody invite them to stay any sodding weekend because I was not planning a big birthday for Dareh because we have no fucking money!!! Also I just know that we will have to go to their DD's which will be a total extravaganza and make me feel total crap not to mention that it will cost us money to get there.

OK - moan over.

Mine · 04/10/2008 19:57

blimey Stefka, i'd avoid talking to SIL like the plague if it were me! Anyone that makes you feel that bad about yourself and your parenting should be banished from your life!

Muppet - i hope you and the little ones are feeling better, and i have my fingers crossed for your DH. Those tests are horrid and should not be a determining factor in getting a job.... but thats just me!

J20 i have posted on your thread.. i still can;t believe how nasty some people can be on here .

Well, work is in a terrible state. I'm very stressed, tired and emotional. To top it off my dad, who suffers from early dementia, has taken a turn for the worse and i'm really worried how my mum is coping looking after him and my ds AND a 6 years old (after school only).
I'm taking mum out tonight to the cinema.. just me and her on a girlie night out to watch The Duchess with a big bag of popcorn and diet coke! I know its not enough, but i just thought she could do with some time away from looking after everyone else for one night.

I'm going to come over all soppy now, but i'm in constant awe of my mum, she is a constant support to me, my sister and the family. I hope i'll be as great a mother as she has been to me. i love her soo much. I just wish i could do more to make her life a bit easier.

Anyway, enough of the soppy stuff!
Eren has started crawling now and he just will not stop investigating every crevice of the house!
Only down side is that he's also started having tantrums when he doesn;t get what he wants. I can;t bare the crying fits as it just takes me bad to the bad old early says when he was a newborn with seriously bad colic... oh the 24/7 crying was a nightmare...... and i just can;t stand it, but i can;t give in either.

This too shall pass........ (hopeful emoticon)

Hi to everyone i haven;t mention, i'm off to dive into my popcorn

crochetdiva · 04/10/2008 21:00

Stefka - your SiL sounds like she's got her head so far up her own backside she could lick her own tonsils!

Seriously though, Mairwen has a walker (if you really want one), but hasn't even touched it since my mum and dad bought her a buggy for her birthday. I'd be more than happy to wrap it and put it into the post for you ...

choc - lovely to see you! glad all's going well!

alice - glad you enjoyed the chocolate!

muppetgirl - sending you fervent get well soon wishes!

Mine - repeat ad infinitum "this is a phase: it will pass"

hmm ... can't remember what everybody else said!

Rhydian was 6 today, and we had a party for him at a soft play centre down on Barry Island - a lovely time was had by all ... I got my 'great mummy' badge as I actually made his birthday cake (gasp!) - a pirate ship - using the tin from lakeland ... if anybody ever needs to borrow it, I'd be glad to lend it out!

DH is away this weekend though: he's best man at our very close friend's wedding in November (when we'll be having a child-free weekend), but as they don't live in the UK, and had to come over for a meeting with the vicar who's marrying them this week, the only possible date for stag / hen parties was this weekend ... so DH has paid for Rhydian's party ... and has given me a voucher for a hot stones massage ...

I'm now going to go and have a large glass of wine as I'm exhausted!

Night all!

Theladyevenstar · 04/10/2008 21:07

Stefka,

I had to giggle at your posting about sil's dd being able to do a million and one things Dareh isn't! A woman where ds1 goes to school was bragging to me the other day how her 10 month old grandson is on holiday with his parents in Spain and has called her everyday this is apparently how the call went..

"Hello Nanny how are you, I am having a good time"

Oh have you got mummys phone again darling?

Yes nanny i wanted to call you"

NOT BAD FOR A 10 MONTH OLD EH?

Also he can feed himself with no mess, is potty trained, can walk up 3 flights of stairs but not across school playground (HMMMM) and ....i know you'll all like this one cos i am still laughing at it......HE CAN READ!!!!!!!!

Mine,

Zachary has also started having tantrums as well!!!

He took another 4 steps today then sat down clapping lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ben and Olly!
WWAJC-for some reason i thought it was Anyas birthday today too, I'm sure there is another one who was born on the 5th.

we've got Shannons party today...and i think shes got S&D.

shes been sick 3 times in the past 2 nights and had dioreah(sp) last night. I don't know whether to cancel it or let people know and let them decide whether they come or not...maybe i should do a AIBU thread titled 'shall i let dd2 come to her own party?' What do you all think?

anyway, off to dunk her in a bath, love to all, hope the bithday los have fun xxxx

FloriaTosca · 05/10/2008 08:39

bother!!!! why didnt I take off the caps lock or proof read first?[shakes head in despair]

J20; just read the first page of your other post, not had time to read more...I take it things got nasty after that...I think the post at the bottom of page 1 was a good answer (marmadukesomething or other)... An awful lot has happened in the last year to you two, it doesnt make things easier to cope with for you but makes her attitude a bit more comprehensible when all around her is in a state of change...I hope you find a solution that doesnt alienate her...and I hope Shannon has a lovely day today.

Choc; great to hear from you...sorry you are so busy..we miss you.

Alice; glad Adam had a lovely party and ditto your feelings about this group [dabs a tear from eye]

crochet; you are a superwoman! glad you had a good, if exhausting time too. Those lakeland tins are fab arent they? Mum bought the train one for Alex and it was lovely too.

Mine; sorry things are not going smoothly esp you dad deteriorating, it is heart breaking(we have been through it with 3 members of our family)Lovely that you appreciate your Mum so much and I'm sure she appreciates your efforts to make give her some respite.

Stefka; Your sil really has no concept does she?... try not to let her get to you...you are doing everything you can in a difficult situation and when things eventually buck up you will no doubt lavish Dareh with every luxury money can buy because you feel guilty for not having it now, but his development isnt being held back for lack of a walker or any other expensive prop, ...he has your hands to hold on to, what more does he need? And the most used toys at any of the parties we have attended were the wooden spoon and pan to bang, plastic bottle 90% full of coloured water to roll and plastic milk bottle with stones/lentils to shake type....honest

this has taken far too long to write...got to go get breakfast cooked...sorry those I have missed individually...bye for now

Mine · 05/10/2008 09:06

happy birthday Ben & Shannon!!!
I really fancy a slice of birthday cake now!!

Out to lunch with my sister and best friends today then taking MIL out for her birthday dinner...... my diet is going to be ruined!!

have a lovely day everyone (despite the rubbish weather!)

5th November - Henry (muppetgirl)

Stefka · 05/10/2008 10:07

Happy Birthday Ben!!!!!

Thanks for the support with SIL. She's nice but totally insensitive! She kept going on about the new toy box her DD had that is "full to the brim" with all her developmental toys. I told her Dareh had a box of rubbish that he plays with! Which he does- empty cartons etc. He loves them!

Ops he's destroying something back later!!

Stefka · 05/10/2008 12:00

He's asleep now. Aren't they nice when they are sleeping!!!

Crochet that is really kind of you. I am not sure if I am using the right term though as I think a baby walker is one of those things that the baby sits in which would drive Dareh nuts - he hates to be contained! I don't know what you call those things that a baby can practice walking with though - you know those push toy things. She's unbelievable sometimes my SIL. I remember the last time I saw her and we were just starting to worry about money then and she started going on about her recent pay rise and how much money she was making! Even my brother (her DH) told her to shut up at that one!

I can't believe you made a pirate cake - that is so impressive! I made some lentil soup yesterday which Dareh enjoyed. He keeps farting today though!

LisaLessLumpy · 05/10/2008 12:27

Hi all, can't stay on long as I'm rushing around preparing everything for 3pm when the masses turn up

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANNON J20 I hope you sorted the dd1 situation.

I have made Ben a Pirate ship cake too, will post pictures tomorrow when I have more time

Ben has started letting go of furniture and walking to me, on average he is managing about 8-10 steps before falling into my arms
He also says what sounds like 'all gone' when he has finished his dinner, and puts his hands in the air palms upwards. Oh and he also does high five and hits my hand He is a real cheeky monkey now

I'll try and catch up properly tomorrow, need to go and get myself tidied up a bit now.

xxx

Theladyevenstar · 05/10/2008 12:33

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN SHANNON AND OLLY.....

HOPE YOUR MUMMYS SPOIL YOU TODAY LOLOL

Stefka · 05/10/2008 13:03

Ops I missed out Shannon and Olly!

Happy Birthday Shannon and Happy Birthday Olly!

Good luck at three LLL!

Dalrymps · 05/10/2008 13:52

Happy birthday Shannon ! Happy birthday Ben ! Happy birthday Olly !

Hope you all have an absolutely wonderful day

Sorry I haven't cought up properly for a while everyone. Have gotten so far behind now I don't think I ever will!

Muppet - hope you feel better soon

Stefka - Ignore SIL, they don't need "develpomental" toys at all, Dylan has loads of toys (mostly bought by granny) and he prefers to play with my shoes or the dvds off the top of the dvd player! Oh, and she bought him a walker but he just pushes it over and spins the wheels on it. He also likes an empty pop bottle, keeps him amused for ages

Choc - great to hear from you!

Mine - sounds like you have a lovely time with you mum. I'm going to MILs to watch mama mia with her ans SIL this week, we're going to pig out on chocolate too, can't wait.

LLL - well done Ben with the walking!

J20 - hope Shannon recovers from her S&D quickly, poor little mite.

Inzi - Hope everything is ok re the redundancies, ((((hugs)))) to you.

Floria - A little quetion about the AD's... Did you find that you gradually felt better and better on htem or that you just reached a point of feeling 'ok' and stayed at that level? Also, once you cam off them did you find you stayed feeling ok or did you mood drop down again as they wore off? Just wondering, don't think mine have fully taken affect yet, i'm definately feeling a bit better but not a lot better iyswim. I am on the lowest dose at the mo though (10mg) and have to see the doc this week to see if she wants to put me up to 20mg, she was going to last time but decided that as i'd suffered with side effects she'd leave me on the 10mg for a bit longer.

Hi to Strawberry, Katsh, Alicet, Les, Crochet, Apricotle and anyone else i've missed.

I'll try to keep up with you all better from now on.

Well, off to paint some testers on the bathroom wall, chat soon x

Well Dareh has just said his first official word. He has been doing lots of mumumumumum's when he is unhappy and dadadadada's when he is happy (how's that fair!!!) but today he said a very definite word......'boob'! He wanted some milk and started pulling at my top and said boob! He said it again just after I took my bra down. I can't believe that was his first proper word lol!
