Muppet I love it, I just need to sort out some plants for the courtyard.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 29/09/2008 09:53

Hello all. Well we're just getting over a stomach bug that has caught us all this weekend. I think it may be the one Alex had (sorry FT! - hope none of your other guests were ill and we were just unlucky!) I went down with it Satuday afternoon and we hoped it might just be me but then Anya started throwing up 2am Sunday morning. DH has been fantastic - he was managing not to be sick by sheer will-power, and he got up with Anya 5 or 6 times in the night and did all the clearing up. I was no use as the smell of it set me off running for the bathroom again. Luckily Anya was much better yesterday, just sleeping lots - I spent the day in bed, so lots of brownie points again to dh for looking after her all day. I'm better today but feel totally wiped out, not surprising as I've not eaten for nearly 2 days.

Glad it was this weekend not next. We're having a party next Sunday - about 15 people, mostly adults. We're just doing a buffet, really need to sort a cake out - I haven't made one for so long I think I might play safe and buy one. Then on her actual birthday on Tuesday we're going to take her to Chester Zoo.

LLL - well done to Ben with his walking, such a clever boy! Anya's still not brave enough to let go of the furniture.

TLES - flat sounds fantastic, you sound really happy with it.

Hi to everyone else
x

LisaLessLumpy · 29/09/2008 21:55

I've been busy too

we are all at it!

Nowt new to update you all with yet, been cleaning like a madwoman today in readiness for a house full on sunday. Told DH he has to take the boys out on saturday so that I can do the cake

FloriaTosca · 29/09/2008 23:03

Hi All
Thank you so much for Alexs birthday wishes and for his Mumsnet pressie...it was a gorgeous wheeled wooden duck on a stick which was the first pressie he opened and definately his favourite (not just with him but with most of the other los too)Thank You Sooooo much.. I must admit I found the whole day very emotional...stupid I know but I wanted to cry rather than sing happy birthday...my baby is growing up so fast!.
The truly dreadful thing is that everyone seems to have come down with the awful stomach bug that we inflicted on Anya and WWAJC [mortified/horrified emoticon][deeply, deeply sorry emoticon]...I got it on Saturday and Dh succumbed on Sunday, it was horrible ...we now know at least one of the other children was suffering the same thing Alex had last week for the three days before the party and another childs father who didnt come to the party came down with it too(so at least we know it wasn't my food...after all the anti-bacterial cleaning, floor scrubbing and surgical glove wearing food preparation I did)her Doctor says there is a particularly virulent strain of gastric flu going round...WWAJC I'm sooooo sorry....to make matters worse for me I came down with mastitis over the weekend too

The wedding in Scotland on Saturday was lovely but I was in no condition to enjoy it feeling dreadful and unable to eat or drink anything but water or lemonade and visiting my cousins on Sunday was no fun with Dh in the same condition...we only found out about our party guests suffering today so dearly hope we didnt contaminate all the wedding guests and my family over the weekend ...

Glad to be home now...I need a rest!!!!Off to bed, I'll read and catch up tomorrow.

Theladyevenstar · 30/09/2008 12:41

Hi all ... just checking in to let you know I'm still here!

Not much news here really - Mairwen is having real problems settling with the CM - she doesn't cry why we leave her but if the CM puts her down at all she screams ... I'm worried that the CM will get fed up and sack us!

I'm really enjoying being back at work: absolutely flat out, but am prioritising ~so much better now than I ever used to!

Erm, that's it - Mairwen is 1 tomorrow - this time last year, I was in labour!

Secret Santa Christmas pressie list has completely escaped me (sorry took my eye off the ball a bit!) - can you email me at: eirian DOT thomas AT gmail DOT com if you want to take part? We'll be sending a Christmas pressie to each other rather than the kids: they'll be getting loads anyway! Limit of about £7.50 - handmade gifts also allowed (mine's going to be handmade, and I'm the one organising it, so I figure we can include that!)

Love to all you and yours ... just to update you, DH did have a strong word with the PiLs ... I think my threat of phoning them and telling them exactly what I thought (which, given my thing about the phone showed him just how cross I was!) did the trick!

Ta-ra! x

Theladyevenstar · 30/09/2008 18:38

Crochet lol @ CM sacking you. I think DP will sack me if Zachary doesn't stop being so clingy to me!!!!

Happy Birthday for tomorrow for Mairwen

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 30/09/2008 21:25

FT - oh poor you - at least you can be sure it wasn't Alex who spread the virus round. So sorry that you and your dh got it too (wasn't it horrible!!) DH lost the battle today and has been in bed all afternoon, crawling out only to poke his head down the toilet. Anya is still being randomly sick (though 2am seems a good time unfortunately) and now has diarrhoea but she seems not to mind, she's just very tired. Luckily I'm much better now, although a good night's sleep would do me the world of good. Could be worse - we could have had it next weekend - at least we should all be well in time for her birthday party.

Happy birthday for tomorrow Mairwen!

Hello all... Like Dal I have been reading but not getting round to posting - sorry!

Floria / WWAJC sorry to hear you have all been ill. Not what you need at all. Hope all better soon (and mastitis too - sounds painful...)

Floria glad you had a great day celebrating Alex's first birthday. Totally understand the feeling emotional too. Did it bring Robyn back a bit too?

Inzi will be keeping fingers crossed for your dh...x

crochet great news about your dh sicking up for you with pil's. Fingers crossed it has the desired affects ! Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow too xxx

LES good to hear from you!

Hello everyone else...

Oh and Sam had a POO ON THE POTTY!!!! Over a week of in the pants only and managed tonight. He is doing really well. Choc buttons as bribes incentives seem to be doing the trick!

Anyway Mum will be here next couple of days so will probably be off and on a bit sporadically. Seeing Choc on Sat for Adam's party so will fill you in with her news if she doesn't make it on herself in the interim xxx

Theladyevenstar · 30/09/2008 22:34

Inzi I know how you feel I went through the same with dp a few months ago. worse for us was it took 3 months for the company to decide who was being made redundant and who wasn;t

Keep your chin up hunni xxx

FloriaTosca · 01/10/2008 08:18

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR MAIRWEN
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!

Stefka · 01/10/2008 09:05

Oh Inzi I am so sorry! It is not a good time for anyone right now job/money wise is it. My DH has managed to get some odd days here and there. He did some work for his old employer and he hasn't bloody paid him yet . He knows we are at home with a wee baby too. I hope your DH gets good news.

Happy birthday Mairwen!!!

Dalrymps · 01/10/2008 09:55

Happy 1st Birthday Mairwen!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crochet;I hope Mairwen has a wonderful first birthday. Truly great news about your Dh finally telling his parentsand wonderful that you are enjoying work again ...I'm sure M will soon learn to trust the cm enough to let put her down, at least she is happy in her arms (perhaps she is just making sure the cm is earning every penny of mums hard earned cash by demanding 100% attention)

Inzi;I'm so sorry you are going through this, I sincerely hope your dh is one of the lucky ones...but,if not, then, being a fatalist, perhaps it will lead to bigger and better things elsewhere[hopeful emoticon]...fingers crossed for you though that you dont need to go through any more than 2 days of uncertainty.

Alice; Well done Sam! I hope you have a lovely time with your Mum and that Adams party on Saturday is wonderful. Thanks for understanding my mixed emotions...to tell the truth I don't think Robyn conciously crossed my mind all day..I was only aware of Alexs' growing up so fast that had me so cholked...but perhaps my eternal baby, Robyn, was there subconciously making it so difficult to sing happy birthday.[rueful emoticon]

Well my 1 yr old (can you believe it..a whole year!)has been driving his Dad up the wall, waking every 2 hours through the night for 20-40min feeds, he thought it was us disturbing him (snoring)(nothing to do with the fact that Alex lost over a kilo in weight with his illness last week and is probably making it back up again) so he unilaterally decided that it was time Alex went into his own room So last night he spent 2 hours moving the running machine out of Alexs' room( breaking it in the process and damaging the door frame)and moving the cot bed in. Alex went to bed an hour late because it took longer to rehang the door than dh anticipated and what was the outcome?...I spent 20-40 mins feeding from the chair in Alexs' room every 2 hours instead of from the comfort of my bed ....the single bed from the loft is being moved into Alexs room tonight!...and I'm leaving the monitor on in our bedroom so dh doesn't miss out!
