Helllloooooooooooo!!!

Been busy with my family over the weekend. Mum, Dad and my sister came down yesterday and have just gone home a little while ago. We had a lovely day yesterday. Went to one of the National Trust places which was open for free, then played at home with Jamlet later in the afternoon. Dad and I went swimming this morning too which was great. And last night they all babysat while DH & I went to a wedding reception

Have read through what's been happening and promptly forgot it all . Would go back and check again, but Jamlet waking from a nap now though, so got to go ...

Ohforfoxsake · 14/09/2008 14:11

Thanks everyone, you lot do make me smile

I think the name will stay - took me long enough to think of it!

Funny how friendships change. I find I don't have time for some friends. Actually, the truth is I've withdrawn from a couple of particular friendships because I found they had different values, shall we say.

Hi!
I am waiting for lo to wake up so we can all go shopping .............. for shoes for me to go with my slutty dress
Had a very brief catch up and all I can say is it's bloody hard to keep some friendships going post baby .......... expecially with the high maintenance ones! Which I have just backed away from!
I am luck though - I have one very good friend I have known since school and we are very close but low maintenance, and I have a tonne of horsey friends who are a lot of fun! Then I have my girly friends who I catch up with every so often - but I now feel a bit frumpy when I'm with them as they are very glam (usually going out with footballers / actors etc and hanging out in VIP areas etc)!
I think I need to wake lo up - the shops will be shut soon!

Yes, good luck with the shoe hunt DKMA.

And yes, I got a bit tipsy last night, and then remembered potential of early start and also that I'd promised my Dad an 8am swim, so stopped drinking before it got too bad. Also, the fact that my Dad was picking us up stopped me wanting to get too drunk (it was like being 16 again!) And hey, I've obviously not defalted as badly as I thought since finishing BF: a woman last night was of my boobs

I didn't have too many friends in this area before DD anyway. And a couple of women have started at my work since I went on ML and I think they are becoming my friends now, and I feel that one of my RL mummy friends is actually turning out to be a proper friend rather than just someone I can pass time with with the LOs IYSWIM. So I feel I've actually got more RL friends that say 18 months ago

And just remembered I am on annual leave tomorrow (Imagine the if I hadn't remembered and had turned up to work). And Jamlet is going to nursery, so I am now going to dream about/plan what I am going to do with my day...

Bumperlicious · 14/09/2008 16:49

Storm, that's crap about your friends, it is really hard. We have quite a few "couple friends" who we see though not very regularly, and I have a few mummy friends, but I really miss having good girls friends, one's who know you so well and will be your back up and do stupid things with you (like a burlesque night - I was such a loner when I did that on my own!). Since moving here 4 years ago I haven't made any good girl friends, just the coupley friends and on the weekends they are usually doing coupley things (while DH works on a saturday) or going off to their old towns to see friends they like better. It doesn't help that DH isn't very proactive, nearly all our friends have been made through me. I feel very lonely sometimes and I am majorly paranoid about people not liking me as much as I like them. Fortunately 2 sets of our couple friends are now expecting babies, so hopefully that will bring us closer.

We saw these two families with a bunch of kids running around the country park today and I just thought we have no-one who we would do that with. My best friend lives in N Wales and I don't see her v often. I sometimes wish I had just forked put for NCT classes. They seem to make really good friends with each other.

What sort of shoes are you after anyway DKMA? You sound like you lead a v glamorous life to me!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 14/09/2008 17:41

Bumper, if you want to come over to Oxford on a Saturday I'll bring DD out to meet up with you, assuming we can pick a weekend that's agreeable. And it is hard to make new friends after moving. Like I said I had hardly any friends in this area until recently, when it just happened that a couple of like-minded women started at my place. I wouldn't say they are really close friends, but we went on the hen night for one of them last week and had a great time just chatting.

Ohforfoxsake · 14/09/2008 17:45

ooh, give me some burlesque tips Bumper.

I bought this

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 14/09/2008 17:56

That's nice Foxy. Am that I couldn't wear anything as nice as that.

Ohforfoxsake · 14/09/2008 17:56

Are you all checking out the AS sale now?

I thought it would be on the better side of saucy underwear on account it covers a lot of flesh. And DP has been away a long time.

moving on .....

DKMA · 14/09/2008 19:26

Got some shoes!
Phew! I was strssing as I am in Meetings all day Monday and all day Tuesday and I need them for Tuesday night!
Hey Foxy - That's VERY Foxy!!!

Ohforfoxsake · 14/09/2008 19:35

Ohforfoxsake · 14/09/2008 19:50

DKMA · 14/09/2008 19:53
Grin
HellHathNoFury · 14/09/2008 19:56

evening ladies, sluts and glamour pusses

How's it hanging?

I am in a bad mood. Been ill all week. Thought I was dying. Turned out I was wrong as I am still here.

Want to kill DS as he is teething and making everyone's life a misery.

Put some new pics on FB if anyone gives a rats arse.

Ohforfoxsake · 14/09/2008 20:04

Hey Fury, good to see you, was wondering about you. Are you on the mend?

Sounds like you've had shite time, again

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 14/09/2008 20:04

Hi Fury. You somehoe managed to miss me. I'm not a lady or a glamourpuss. And feeling far too comfy and cosy to be a slut atm

Sorry to hear you've been ill and off work. Hey, good job you got that permy job so at least you got paid!

HellHathNoFury · 14/09/2008 20:07

I am on the mend, at long last, I was in the hosp as they thought I had pleurisy of all bloody things!! Turns out I didn't and just had a whacking great case of bronchitis but it was so bad I bruised my lungs and chest cavity and needed help breathing, was poopy pants, and as a result I have had a week off being a parent, because, well, I couldn't.

Love the new name Foxy!

I have no more a shit time than anyone else I don't think..?

Ohforfoxsake · 14/09/2008 20:13

ohh I don't know Fury, suspected pleurisy and hospital? I think that's pretty darn shite, you poor thing. Hope you are looking after yourself and getting looked after.

Riaonabroomstick · 14/09/2008 20:20

Oh fury that is shit. I notice you were ill on FB, but didn't like to intrude as I've been out of the loop so long. Hope you are feeling better now.

Lurvley frock DKMA - are you going to walk in those shoes?
(No glamour puss here - I bought some lovely PJs the other week though. Huge pink Bridget Jones type things. I think my frock days are long gone - DH must be gutted). That "thingy" is nice too foxy.

All the children are in bed. Yippeeeeeee.

FWIW we live where I grew up and I still have no friends. But, like you storm, me and DH are best mates, so I don't need anyone else. We have maybe made friends with a couple from school (I invited them to the christening on a whim and it turned out really well).

HellHathNoFury · 14/09/2008 20:22

DH has been wonderful and taken good care of me.
I am now trying to persuade him I need a new laptop. Well actually he agrees I do but we can't afford one so we say 'yes, yeesssss, need a new one' and then we go off and do something else as the ones with the spec I need for the business cost about £800+ and we can't afford it. bugger.

HellHathNoFury · 14/09/2008 20:26

I m not sure what to make of all the 'friends' thing.

I too would love some mummy friends but I find it a bit confusing as here we are talking now, I thought WE were friends, on MN, I was always happy to meet up at weekends and offered to go visit people and invited lots of people to DS's birthday and everything but it never really happened.

I am confused as people are saying 'ooh I'd love mummy friends'... well here we all are!! Let's do something then! I have offered!

So perhaps it's just me!?

Riaonabroomstick · 14/09/2008 20:29

I find it all a bit scary making the virtual thing a reality IYSWIM, not that there's that many of us up this way. I have the same trouble making RL friends too though. So I only have myself to blame.

DH is watching that sodding war film again. you know the one that's on every week. and I still don't understand it.Now I remember why I don't ususally put the kids to bed early.
