aaarh DD in the wars again! she has had a reprise of the chair on toe try to climb on chair trick, but it caught the edge of her slippers so no damage done. Next one, she climbs on the back of the sofa ane today d onto the windowsill where she usually zsits and looks out and slathers the window in drool. Recently she has been obsessed with the cords for the blinds......cue her trying to reach the cords this morning, but unfortunately there is no sofa directly in front of them so a drop to the floor. I saw her slip out of the corner of my eye, but she had the cord in her hand and was dangling mid air and screaming. She's lucky she didn't dislocate her shoulder; just a fright, but god if she had got it round her neck! Those fecking blinds really have to go .

the only reasone we haven't any up is the existing cutain pole is some godawful gothic brass affair with a cord close system and all our curtains are tab top and won't shut becuase of the bracket locations and we were waiting to decorate. having shitty vertical blinds for three years with no curtains is a bit poor though

Well I thought I HAD broken a rib, that's why I went to A&E!! They said no, 'just' pleurisy. It does hurt.

Lunch sounds just grand
I'm in!

HellHathNoFury · 16/09/2008 11:45

Storm, using the code SAVE will get you 30% off a midweek break at longleat. Haven't checked weekend.
No good for me sadly, they don't seem to do discounts on week long stays, bastards.

HellHathNoFury · 16/09/2008 11:46

oooh the codes DOES work for a weekend, good stuff.

Sputnik · 16/09/2008 11:47

Maybe I should warn you it's a vegetarian restaurant. Very good though, and you will leave stuffed.

Daisy, sounds scary, can you hitch the cord up in the meantime? When does your redecorating get underway?

Bugger, I have to zoom off to pick up DD, she is on half days. Poor baby Sputnik is sleeping, will have to wake him up.

HellHathNoFury · 16/09/2008 11:49

We are fine with eating veggie

Daisy you are having a shit run yourself aren't you?

Riaonabroomstick · 16/09/2008 11:53

sounds nasty fury. How far from home is A&E?

LackaDAISYcal · 16/09/2008 11:54

We have accepted I have been persuaded that it isn't going to happen now until after Christmas or until DH is up here permanently, whichever comes first.

not bad luck fury....just children with no sense of danger and a deathwish to boot!

I need a moan (again). Why can't we have DSS to stay on weekedns twice a month instead of this open-ended visit once in a blue moon? I don't want to be mean and nasty, but I would like to know how much longer I have to stretch my already tight foopd budget for another adult (and a half). We have got through 2 bottles of squash since Friday. (that would usually last 2 weeks +).

I want to be able to wander round my house in my PJs!

On the plus side DS2 didn't have anightmare last night and slept in his own bed all night, on his own, but he had wet his pull-ups.

My mum had a not insignificant codeine addiction from taking philcodeine linctus to suppress her smoker's cough. Took her a while to get off the blardy stuff

ouch ouch ouch at DS1 storm

I heart edinburgh zoo.....we had family membership and went every other week when DS was little. I miss the penguins!

Riaonabroomstick · 16/09/2008 13:12

ouch for DS1 storm.

Sputnik · 16/09/2008 13:33

Ouch Stormy!

Does anybody else's LOs drive them crazy by refusing to sit down in the bath? Mine insists on standing up and every few minutes slips and and falls in nearly giving me a heart attack.

He used to have one of those little seat things, and I used to get on with things like cleaning the bathroom , handwashing etc. Sadly I can't squeeze him into it anymore.

HellHathNoFury · 16/09/2008 13:36

Sputnik, DS was just the same, we humoured him for a few weeks then I decided enough was enough and the little blighter was going to sit. After a 15 minute screaming marathon during the next 2 baths, he got the hint and sits down fine now.

LittleMissNorty · 16/09/2008 14:14

Hello everyone

I got an extra-long bath mat (from Mothercare) for DD when she got too big for her seat and insisted on walking around the bath and apart from the odd dunking episode when she tries to climb out, she hasn't yet slipped. Poor DS Storm....sounds painful.

We had to get emergency electrician out last night as we lost our ring main at 6.30pm.....back out today.....to find water in one of our kitchen sockets .....god only knows how much the bill will be ....under "home emergency" on our house insurance policy it says "Not taken"....ooops!

LittleMissNorty · 16/09/2008 14:17

Hope you feel better soon Fury....codeine is addictive....and very good at constipating you....I always refuse the stuff.....there are very good alternatives available.

HellHathNoFury · 16/09/2008 14:23

I am on dicloflex now, whatever that is

Hi all

Enjoying a brief period of calm as DH has take DD to his mum's so I came home from work early to chill out!

Sorry for all the ouches! Poor LittleStorm Daisy we have really long cords for blinds too. We have hooks to wind them round but DH has also knotted them all the way up so DD can't get her head stuck within the cords.

Fury , you poor thing . Take it easy. I think we could probably manage a day trip to Longleat next year so keep us posted.

Norty, what a PITA about your 'leccy.

I am knackered, DD was literally screaming for about an hour last night. Not sure what was wrong with her, but the shrill screaming thing has been added to her repertoire recently, it adds a little drama to the basic "I want that remote control" or "Pick me up" cry .

HellHathNoFury · 16/09/2008 18:33

DS is growing so quick. I struggle to get over it. I was pretty shocked when he started to play football, nothing special he can just kick the ball, but now DH takes him shopping and then when they get home DH gives DS things and says 'go take that to mummy' and he picks it up (sometimes heavy!) and waddles into the kitchen with it to give to me. Bless.

He's turning into a fat little bugger though, seems to like his food as much as his mum and dad do.

Hmmm yes, DH has high hope for DD as she too can kick a ball . It's just so amazing how they go from this thing that can't do anything to knowing that their shoes go on their feet or that a CD might go in the wii (!) and feeding their babies from their cup. Oh and another favourite of DD's is to do some "cleaning" with a babywipe - get 'em while their young, that's what I say.

I don't know what you think fury but I think that having a full of head of hair makes them look older too. DD just looks so old as though she is tiny she has a full head of hair and is very steady on her feet. I guess she is a toddler now

HellHathNoFury · 16/09/2008 19:48

I agree bumper, I very much have a toddler now!

TALLULAHBELLE · 16/09/2008 19:55

Dangerous talk all this "they grow up so quickly" stuff. Before you know it you'll all be joining Daisy, Norty, Natty & I iykwim! . Seriously, can't wait till the point when the new babies can also go get their own shoes & put stuff in the bin for me. Not looking forward to them dropping everything down the loo like DD likes to though, that's just not fun.

Ohforfoxsake · 16/09/2008 20:05

They might be able to get their shoes and put stuff in the bin, but they won't!
