he will prob get very shouty with you, i would be tempted to offer water, then put down, wait. repeat as you like!

I have eaten snails before.

PortAndLemon · 29/08/2008 16:49

When DS was little and had whooping cough we were waiting to see a paediatrician and he projectile vomited an entire feed all over my top and down my cleavage (really, it kind of filled up the bit in the middle between my breasts). Then they decided to admit him, so I was stranded on the children's ward in a rapidly-congealing-and-frankly-getting-rather-cheesy top and bra until MIL managed to pick me up a change of clothes.

Ah, happy memories...

SushiMama · 29/08/2008 16:52

Ahh I see, I did notice that LO was waking up more than once a night now. Good to know that she's not the only one in the club! And the water thing sounds good Scorpio. Will try that tonight.

By the way, my LO might have chickenpox. Just got back from gp but there's nothing to do but wait and see.

So that's scuppered my return to work

VictorianSqualor · 29/08/2008 16:54

Alex has stopped waking at as many times as he was the last two nights but has woken up at 3am and 5am ish both last night and the night before, which is odd, why 5?!

Have had DD's friend over today, yes that friend, when she had been here a few hours she told me she was hungry and could she have something to eat, so I said, no, lunch is in half an hour, you can wait. Then when I did their lunch she informed me the poor child hadn't had any breakfast!

Also, Dd has just told me that apparently the Narnia book she lent her (DD has a set of all the Narnia books) has been lost, the girl took it to a park and lost it. Fucking great, I feel like telling the mother to buy a whole new set. I'd never let Dd take something she had borrowed to the bloody park.

Thing is I know this mother doesn't deal with things how I would, the child would probably get a smacked butt and bawled out so I feel like I can't say anything to her, but that means DD loses out, and the child doesn't learn how to respect things she has borrowed. Argh.

PortAndLemon · 29/08/2008 17:01

Chicken pox is going around here as well. I am hoping DS doesn't get it, as we're going on holiday in a week's time, and then I just know DD would go down with it too.

SushiMama · 29/08/2008 17:11

Just read some more posts. Yes our LOs are definitely getting clever now

Ladybee I notice that your LO rolls from front to back and not vice versa. Just wondering on that cos my LO only does back to front and then gets unhappy like MHAH's LO. Wonder if one comes before the other or is it just random depending on the baby.

Yes VS I would find that VERY annoying too. I hate it when people don't respect things they have borrowed off me. It's so much worse when it's your child's. Not sure what I'd do in that situation. Watching for your solution!

MommyHasaHeadache · 29/08/2008 17:12

Sal - glad you have your meds - hope you are feeling better. We got the passport posted to us - got it today - but we are still waiting for the birth certificate to be returned!

LadyBee - I've also signed Gigi up for swimming lessons - the underwater type ones too (Aqua Tots). We start in October. Like you I am dreading the swimsuit part!

I've tried the water thing - all Gigi did was scream the house down! Plus when she wakes (at 3am normally) she tends to wolf the whole bottle down - so I guess she really is hungry. I have tried all sorts to get her to give up that witching hour bottle but she still wakes... sigh...

Chicken pox better not come anywhere near Gigi - we are also off next Sat - cannot be coping with a sick baby in a foreign country (looks up chicken pox in Italian!)

VictorianSqualor · 29/08/2008 17:26

Argh, the child is still here.
She is normally picked up by 4pm at the latest, nice of her mother to let me know she was going to be late
Any bets on how much later she thinks it's ok to be??

OP posts:
MommyHasaHeadache · 29/08/2008 17:44

Gosh how annoying VS! And how unthoughtful of the mother too - as if you are a childcare facility! And very annoying about the book - I really don't like lending my stuff out for this reason - people just don't seem to respect stuff that doesn't belong to them - I wish I knew why.

PS - I bet she will be there at 6pm.

VictorianSqualor · 29/08/2008 17:48

Gets better, she didn't turn up at all, but sent her boyf.
He has literally just picked her up, so I told him that in future if she is going to be late, as I was expecting her at 4, then a phone call might be a good idea

LadyBee · 29/08/2008 18:16

feel all aaaarrrgggghhh on your behalf VS.

So am I going to be the only one here in a couple of weeks? Sounds like the whole of MN is going on holiday

I'm with Little Dippers.

It must be quite fun working for a child-oriented company, coming up with the babyfied names...I love reading the names of the reusable nappies fluffles, bimbles, etc etc. The americans do it best though, my three favourites are

*My Brest Friend - breastfeeding cushion
*Hooter Hider - sort of apron thing you use to, well, you know
*Peepee Teepee - these..from the things-you-never-knew-existed-and-really-probably-shouldn't store

Good grief, just saw the length of my last post . I'm never going out all day again, because obviously I then can't shut up!

northeastmummy · 29/08/2008 21:50

Helllooooooo there everyone ! Not sure if any of you will remember me but I used to post here quite a lot ... for some reason I've not been able to keep up since i left work. Must be something to do with the time available ... what does that tell you!? Anyway, it's lovely to be back - I've been trying to catch up with some posts but think it'll be a while before I work out what all is going on.

It sounds like some of you have been getting the same frequent wakenings as me. My DD2 has been so good since she was born (one feed a night) but the last week or two has been a nightmare! I'm lucky if I get 3 hours sleep in a row. Oh well ... I don't resent it as she's such a smiley sweetheart during the day.

I've also ventured into the world of potty training with DD1. Boy, she's SO good in some respects (goes to the potty by herself, takes down her pants, pees, wipes ...) but SO awful in other ways. She just doesn't get the whole poo thing. Anyway, think we're going to take a step back for now. It's too hard with the lack of sleep as well.

Hope you're all doing great...

MommyHasaHeadache · 29/08/2008 22:12

Tee hee at the Peepee Teepee! Had a look at the rest of their stuff - they actually have some really cool stuff!

Glad you got the passport Sal - sorry that you had to wait so long though - it is always the way there though! Gosh you really had a busy day didn't you? I must get Gigi a library card as well and start Baby Bounce in September. Thanks very much for the First Aid invite - have emailed you.

NEM - of course we remember you! I wondered hwo you were and if we would see on here again. Sounds like your DD2 is going through a growth spurt (if I have learned anything on here). I just know I'm next... dreading it. Don't do very well on no sleep (well does anyone?!) - it does seem to aggrivate the old vertigo though.

Gigi has been particulary grizzly tonight. Falls asleep for 20-30min then wakes up grizzling. Have no idea what is up. Oh dear - there she goes again...

MommyHasaHeadache · 29/08/2008 22:25

Okay - just tried her on some gripe water - hope that it helps settle her now. DH is with her gently rocking her. Poor little thing - my heart breaks when she is unhappy.

northeastmummy · 29/08/2008 22:31

Hi Mommy! What a lovely welcome back - thank you I was wondering if it was a growth spurt and I think you might be right. Let's hope so. If it is, then hopefully it'll stop soon!

I find the sleep deprivation really messes with my emotions. I think my friends are getting a bit worried because I keep bursting into tears at the stupidest of things. It doesn't help that half of them are getting married and all of the emotional roller coaster that goes along with that.

I know what you mean about your heart breaking when they're upset. They're so dependent aren't they - without us where would they be???

KnitterInTheNW · 29/08/2008 22:33

I have some peepee teepees!! Saw them in a shop window while on honeymoon in Vancouver last year, and got them for a friend who had just had a baby boy, with the understanding that when she was done with them, she'd give them back. I did try using them on George when he was tiny, but they don't actually stay on. Very funny though!

My little porker is 14lb 10oz now, and has put on 12oz in the last 2 weeks. He's over double his birth weight now, he was 7lb 2.5oz. Makes me feel so proud that I've done that all by myself!

northeastmummy · 29/08/2008 22:37

Oh I'm with you Knitter - doesn't it seem incredible that they can put on so much weight just from our milk alone???

KnitterInTheNW · 29/08/2008 22:44

Completely! Shame he hasn't taken my fat away though, I was a size 18 before I ws pg and now in size 22 bottoms. I really need to do something about it, I just can't be arsed!

SushiMama · 29/08/2008 23:06

Hey Knitter, your LO has the same birth weight as mine! But I've no idea how heavy she is now

KnitterInTheNW · 30/08/2008 01:36

All the babies are born weighing 7lb 2.5oz!

ARGGGGHHHHHHH....

Why have I got insomnia on a night that George hasn't woken up for a feed or anything? I went to bed at 11, lay there for an hour listening to DH snoring, then got up again and did all the ironing! It's taken an hour and a half and I'm not convinced I'll sleep if I go to bed now. I'm going to hve to go and try at least, tomorrow's going to be a long day.

We're going to Leicester tomorrow ready for a friend's babies christening on Sunday, for some reason I offered to make cheesecake for the buffet afterwards. So when we get to my parents' house I'm making lemon cheesecake for 30 people. That's 40 digestive biscuits, 7 tubs of philly cheese, 12 lemons and 2 pots of double cream. Wish me luck, I've never make something that big before!

At least I can doze in the car for a couple of hours on the way there, that's if George lets me...

KnitterInTheNW · 30/08/2008 01:37

All the best babies are born weighing 7lb 2.5oz...

scorpio1 · 30/08/2008 09:56

or 8lb 9oz......

I have lost 9lbs in 3 weeks!

KnitterInTheNW · 30/08/2008 11:12

Scorpio that's fantastic!
