Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PortAndLemon · 27/08/2008 21:29

MadameO -- I think it's fairly normal around five months. Last time I let it delude me into starting to wean DS and it made no difference at all. This time I am sticking to my guns until 6 months.

Peachy · 27/08/2008 22:54

She's taking on the discrimnation case; good on her!

Bas ha a big growth spurt at 19 weeks, 0.5lb which for him is HUMUNGOUS. He is doing well on his food now though- hardly surprng when a meal is as calorie packed as sweet potato, avocado & parsnip follwed by bm lol

sagitta · 28/08/2008 10:35

So sorry to hear about your friend, Peachy - hope it works out better for you.

Are you all still sharing a room with LOs? Its driving me bonkers - i really want to reclaim our bedroom. I'd like to open the curtains, clean, fix the lights, clear up all the mess. I am sick of living in permanent darkness and waking LO up every time I go in. But while she's still waking up at night, I don't know what to do. She can't go in with dd1 yet, and although there is just about space elsewhere, its miles from our room so we would have to go and sleep on the floor nearby. I don't want to move her too soon, but I am going mad with sharing a room with her. She wakes up because of us, and it would be much easier to get rid of a night feed or two by letting her cry, if I wasn't three feet away. What to do, girls?

VictorianSqualor · 28/08/2008 11:22

I've put Alex in his own room as of last night.
I had to feed him at 3 and agaiun at 5:30, then he woke up at 8.
Soooooooooooooo much better without him snuffling in ym ear!!
Plus we actually got to have sex in bed last ngiht, lol.

OP posts:
sagitta · 28/08/2008 11:29

And it wasn't too much of a pain having to get up twice and feed him?

VictorianSqualor · 28/08/2008 11:34

No, not really, I didn't wake up with every little sound he made so I had better sleep the rest of the night.

sagitta · 28/08/2008 13:02

I've got an ear infection at the moment and am deaf in one ear, which has been great. Put good ear on the pillow and I can't hear a thing. But I'm going to the Dr this afternoon, and I suppose he will fix it!

VictorianSqualor · 28/08/2008 13:22

Alex just sat up!!
With no help!

He was in his bouncy chair and sat up to grab his toes!!

OP posts:
DonDons · 28/08/2008 13:34

well done Alex! Clever boy. They are growing up so quickly aren't they?

I am also in a quandry over the same room business. The problems I have are that

a) we have some building work starting next week (I hope) which will be next to Amelie's room, so I am thinking of moving the big cot into our room for daytime naps and

b) I am suffering from separation anxiety (!) and can't cope unless she is laid right next to the bed in her little cot. (I have tried moving it away fromt he side of the bed and keep pulling it back after 5 minutes )

I think I need to get a grip

scorpio1 · 28/08/2008 14:13

We cannot wait for our own space either. Always have sex in the front room, lol. She will be having her own room at the end of September, we hope.

Got all our France stuff through today, yay!

Well done Alex for sitting; they change so fast don't they. Mimi keeps trying to steal our food, lol. (i take it off her - 19 weeks tomorrow)

DH is away this weekend, gone today, back Sunday.

VictorianSqualor · 28/08/2008 14:17

Alex grabs mine too if he is on my lap during dinner, but he then throws it straight on the floor!

scorpio1 · 28/08/2008 15:09

oh poo. I have to go out to pick R up from sports thing, and M and J are asleep! Not Fair.

VictorianSqualor · 28/08/2008 15:14

A and B are asleep too. LOL, I have an A/B and D. I better have a C next time, eh?

I mgiht use this time to have a nice soak, thoguh I know I should really do some packing.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 28/08/2008 15:40

My friend has an A & B, and is pg....her H is C though, lol.

We are S K R J M Z. Fancy an L next....Lacey, Lexie, Lila (oh yes am planning girl, lol)

sagitta · 28/08/2008 16:24

Aaah. Spending the day killing caterpillars. 20 down so far. They are eating all my precious tomatoes.

Our other room problem is that dd1's room is too small for them to share, so we need to move a nearby toilet, put in a bathroom and make her room bigger. We've only had a year to sort this out, but have done nothing yet. Its got to be soon though - I am a long way from having separation anxiety - is there an opposite?!

LadyBee · 28/08/2008 16:42

well done Alex! We had a front-to-back roll here this morning, but still no back-to-front.

I've been thinking about leaving B in his room for his final night sleep, he's in there for all his other ones, but i also feel sad at the idea of not having him beside me when I go to bed.
Think I will try it soon though as I don't want to end up moving him and going onto solids at the same time, would rather do one change at a time.

B's grabbing at my food too - I took a photo of the little monkey the other day, which will post after this.

Sagitta, why would you need to sleep next cot if you moved her? Is it a hearing her if needed or can't be bothered to move too far in the middle of the night thing . If hearing - monitor?

My sympathy for the caterpillar carnage, I'm not brave enough to look but judging by what happened to our peppers the tomatoes will be for it next. Problem is, I'm squeamish and DP is buddhist so won't take it on and doesn't really like me killing them either. I did sneak some slug/snail pellets down one day when I was fed up with losing all my seedlings, but the sight of their fizzing bodies the following day was too off-putting to continue.
It would be poor form to chuck them over the neighbour's fence wouldn't it. Plus, their dog might decide they were for him and would be too terrible he got ill because of that.

VictorianSqualor · 28/08/2008 17:36

Is it eggs shell or onions that snails/slugs/caterpillars don't like? One of them is suppsoed to make them not go near it.

DP has his uniform

OP posts:
Peachy · 28/08/2008 17:55

VS Bas can do that too- scary isn't it? He also- wait for this- crawled last night. Admittedly not since, and bloody tyoically I didn't witness it, DH did- he just got his back up and crawled a step or two.

But no doubt it'll all be over babywise son Boo hoo. I liked ds3 who dragged things out a bit more that way.

Peachy · 28/08/2008 17:56

The ds's are S, S, H and S. Daft poele (like the Head ) all say 'all S/ D you like S then?'

er no, can you not spell?

VictorianSqualor · 28/08/2008 18:01

Alex brings his knees up but then falls back down, sure it won't be long, I love it when he lays on his belly, he lifts from his waist up and plays with his hands whilst tapping his legs

OP posts:
MommyHasaHeadache · 28/08/2008 18:39

Aww all our clever little babies doing things now! Gigi has started rolling onto her tummy - and then gets stuck and grunts away! Very amusing! She has also started grabbong and holding her feet and taking toys if offered to her. So proud! It is so much fun watching them learn all this new stuff! Oh and she also tries to pull herself up into a sitting position - only when she is in her growbag though - she pulls on the growbag and it semi lifts her.

We are B, G and T here. If it is a boy next time it will be a J!

I dread not sleeping with Gigi anymore - I have to admit I'm with DonDons - I love it!

We are off to Italy next Sat - can't wait - it had better be sunny!

Oh Sal - must tell you - we are meant to be getting Gigi's SA passport tomorrow! Have you got yours yet?

MommyHasaHeadache · 28/08/2008 18:41

Oh one more thing - I am convinced Gigi is teething. Always chomping down on her fingers, drooling, poohing more and very grizzly. Do I have to speak to a HV before giving her teething powders or can I just go ahead and give them to her?

MadameOvary · 28/08/2008 18:45

Mommy - teething powders should be fine. Which ones did you have in mind?

MommyHasaHeadache · 28/08/2008 18:51

Thanks MadamOvary. Ashton and Parsona Infants' Powders are the one's the Boots lady directed me towards. What's better - the powders or the gel?

MadameOvary · 28/08/2008 19:05

I use the powders but you have to halve each dose under 6 months which can be a bit of a faff. I also used Boots Alternatives which DD liked as well.

PortandLemon - invaluable advice re weaning! I will see how DD's weight is tomorrow but i have already bought the baby rice. I really want to wait till 6 months [determined emoticon]
