peachy, just wanted to say I caught up with your thread last night and think you're doing a splendid job in hugely difficult circumstances. It does make me very annoyed to see people having fight and struggle to get people/institutions/companies to do properly what they should be doing in the first place. Just once I would like to hear of someone receiving the care/service/attention to detail they should have a matter of course. Must be mentally and emotionally exhausting to constantly be on the look out for the next institutional screw-up, I hope you have some good support to help re-charge, relax and regain some faith in humanity regularly (lots of a re in that sentence )

SaintPeachy · 26/09/2008 11:47

Thanks lady

Soph Sam has darh hair doesn't he? At least you can see that pmsl- Bas is fair (I think, that little hair!!)

Shock- bas actually drank from a cup yesterday! not breastmilk (no chance!) but drank nonetheless (peach flavoured soya milk- fortunately a goody two shoes organic no added anything type). As he never had a bottle either it meansds DH can actually feed him! As can my Mum- I mght get a haircut or a night out pmsl- YAY!

Just got the boys wii fit delivered for Christmas . They'll be chuffed.

VS- if you want (or scorpio) to join ttr- the yahoo group of sn mums, ttr is time to rant- e-mail me, and I will nominate you.

VictorianSqualor · 26/09/2008 12:29

I've just been up at the school in the head teacher's office.
Have a look here

I'll email you in a bit Peachy, DS wants lunch lol.

Morning all. SaintP - yes Sam does have dark hair. Do you think I could try Sam with a cup? He´s always been bottlefed & can´t remember when I tried DS1 with a cup. Please try not to mention the word "fit" round me though as I look positively pregnant again - I´m not btw, it´s just fat

SaintPeachy · 26/09/2008 13:26

tell me about it soph- lost half stone on ww but now losing motivation. trouble is dh and I often make up for no babysitting by making nice food- , but then again dont wanna go ball gown shopping in november all lardy!

SaintPeachy · 26/09/2008 13:27

oh yes try him with a cup- theres lots of types though so can take an attempt or two- bas likes the tommee tippee and we've got ds3's doidy cup too

LadyBee · 26/09/2008 13:52

SaintP, where are all the saints springing up from? I've suddenly noticed a rash of them on chat. What's going on?

third time lucky, let's hope DS is now convinced that he is tired and it is time for a nap, he's been asleep-awake-asleep-awake-asleep-awake-asleep since 12.

I blame my DP for my lack of further weightloss and continued sweet addiction too. He can not let an evening go by that doesn't have some sort of biscuit, icecream, fruit toast with honey-type treat. Wouldn't be so bad, but I can't let an afternoon go by without the same so I'm having double helpings.

SaintPeachy · 26/09/2008 13:56

ah the sains thing- the sn board users get told 'you're all saints' so ofen we decided to agree

Soph73 · 26/09/2008 13:59

DH has just given me a box of milk tray because this is my first week back at work and to cap it all we have to work tomorrow as it´s the school open day Very sweet gesture from DH though, you´ve got to love ´em ... sometimes

Soph73 · 26/09/2008 14:01

VS - go and give the school a rollicking. We´ve never locked a kid outside and neither should they, especially as he was wandering near the main gate.

Soph73 · 26/09/2008 14:04

LadyBee - We consider ourselves extremely lucky over here. Sam has been having 3 physio sessions a week since he was 2 mnths old (all arranged for us), is being assessed in a couple of months time for state help & we can request any check-ups for anything at any time. Also has a bi-monthly check-up with the Dr at the hosp he goes to for his physio.

Soph73 · 26/09/2008 14:05

LadyBee - I remember the first night I read a book, in bed, with the light on - sheer bliss

LadyBee · 26/09/2008 14:15

That's very sweet Soph, bit rubbish having to work the weekend too though - you deffo deserve the milk tray.

Ah SaintP, this does of course mean you're not allowed to rant at all. Everything must be accepted with a calm and enigmatic smile, upturned eyes and an offering of the other cheek to be slapped about with an inadequate statement of needs. ok?

VS, hope school sorts out their gate/door policy, it's really not good enough for them NOT to be able know for sure their young charges are where they're supposed to be and safe.

Such a lovely afternoon - I feel a bit like I've been let out of school early, giddy with possibilities. Sadly, all I've got planned is a couple more loads of laundry and a stroll around the block

LadyBee · 26/09/2008 14:18

Back on duty...DS awake..have a nice evening all, probably won't be back on til late.

SalLikesCoffee · 26/09/2008 14:38

Nice morning's chat to catch up with to make up for last night's MN-withdrawal!

Your dh sounds very thoughtful Soph! Sucks re tomorrow, but at least once-off.

VS, I'd have been very upset to find out my 3-year old was locked outside, and quite a cheek to pretend he was being naughty. He's three for heaven's sake.

Nursery this morning, and again R not sleeping there. I'm worried they'll ban him, as every time we collect him the one girl is devoting 100% of her time to him, as he is tired but refuse to sleep! Dh reckons he's just getting value for money, as he then sleeps for 3 hours when we get home, lol!

I had an eye test this morning, and has been referred to see an Opthalmologist for potential pigment dispersion syndrome. No damage yet, so probably fine, but I got quite scared - eyes are a bit weird, you never really think about them, but it would be SO hard (I think impossible, but obviously not, as lots of people manage) without good sight! I've called Moorfields Eye Hospital, who said to go to their A&E dept to see one (saves waiting for months for a referral through GP). Will try to go tomorrow morning so that I can relax about it.

SalLikesCoffee · 26/09/2008 14:42

Ladybee, impressed with your strength on the first night alone! at B's midnight fun. Brilliant that he's so settled already.

Soph73 · 26/09/2008 14:53

Steady now LadyBee, don´t want to see you getting carried away now! That´s always been one of the upsides to not breastfeeding, being able to indulge when I feel like it, which is probably far too often

Soph73 · 26/09/2008 15:00

Sal - hope everything turns out OK with your eyes. It sounds like they´ve picked up on it early though so hopefully you´ll be able to get it sorted without too much hassle (fingers crossed). Can they ban a child from nursery just because they don´t sleep - surely that´s something they have to deal with as they work in a nursery

Soph73 · 26/09/2008 15:23

Well, nearly home time, at least this afternoon I´ll get to spend some time with Sam, it´s normally home, bath, feed & bed as we don´t get into the house until about 5.45pm. Should be back by 4.30 tonight - yippee Have good weekends everyone, see you on Monday xxxxxxx

VictorianSqualor · 26/09/2008 16:05

Soph, I overindulge even though I'm breastfeeding

OP posts:
SaintPeachy · 26/09/2008 18:59

Sal- my eyes have no special syndrome but are pretty poor- borderline driving. you get used to the sight you have- the glasses are ! i've had mine 3 weeks and stare at people now, its as if i've never seen them before

LadyBee · 26/09/2008 20:27

Sal, sorry to hear about the eye problem, I hope that getting it looked at promptly will help successful treatment.

What did you do with your free time today? Or shouldn't I ask
I didn't mention yet, but I went to see the same nursery/childminder group and it looks like they still have a space for another under 1, so I've signed up there - will be able to stalk you for real now I think I'll start taking him in closer to December for a few sessions.

LadyBee · 26/09/2008 20:29

oh duh...eye test

SalLikesCoffee · 26/09/2008 22:06

Ah, thanks everyone.

Well, from what the optician said, no damage yet (I wear glasses, but weakest eye -3, so not all bad), but she thinks I might have pigment dispersion syndrome, and if it is that and it's left untreated, it could lead to a form of glaucoma. Guess it's fine then - worst case I'll need a minor operation on my eyes, but probably just medicated eye drops and regular checkups to ensure the drainage never becomes blocked.

Ladybee - ah, cool. They really are lovely, and all the babies seem to love it. I've never seen anyone left bored / upset / unhappy there. Also, the owner (straight blonde hair) has a black belt in karate, so if we're still here when R's about 3, I'd like her to give him "lessons" (not proper karate, just preparation of the body really). A friend whose baby will also be starting there would be interested as well, and I think karate is really good for self esteem and discipline. Whoooow, getting ahead of myself there, poor things is only 6 months I know, but nice comforting thought.

Yes, I went for the eye test, but also strolled around the shops in Canary Wharf a bit - still deciding on what to wear for R's Christening. At this rate I'll have something by next year - I absolutely detest clothes shopping. Shoes on the other hand... Was good though, only bought - wait for it - cold medicine!

Hahaha, my life is so exciting: Tonight's "date night", and dh and I used it for our weekly Tesco shopping. However, on the way there we spent a good hour in Toys r Us, and bought lots of unnecessary toys for R! Thinking about the cold dark days now fast approaching

SalLikesCoffee · 26/09/2008 23:05

Peachy, ever since I've read your post above I keep giggling about the thought of you going through town, freaking everyone out by constant staring, hehehe.

So what was everyone up to today then? Talk to me people! Urgh, just checked the time - you're all probably either having a nice cosy evening or already in bed. I should really go to bed earlier. Think I'll have a nice warm bath and bed then...
