the curly haired one is ds1, suired ds2, top ds3

and yes he's the spit of sam lol

VictorianSqualor · 05/09/2008 11:04

Well, I managed to get him to sleep by rocking him in his pram and went back to bed at about 8ish, DP went to work just before 9 and kept the kids quiet until then and they (miraculously) watched TV quietly until Alex woke up at about 10am, so I've fed him and left him in bed.

I am under orders to express so I can sleep all day tomorrow, he said he'll take all three of them out and leave me in bed but I my breastpump is packed and I really cannot be bothered to open all the boxes to find it and then have to try and express.

When he wakes he doesn't cry unless he is left alone so whilst I was sat on the beanbag crying he was happily playing with his teddy but as soon as I left the room he screamed. I'm not a pushover either, I do leave him to cry for a few minutes to see if he'll settle down but he won't. At least come Tuesday DS1 will be at nursery in the mornings and Dd will be at school so I can catch some sleep then if he kicks off at night.

As for baby rice ladies He must be a very advanced little fella, he's been doing this since about 10 weeks!!!

Hi all,
Thanks for all your suggestions for cot shopping. Def need to move her soon. Also planning to move her directly into her own room. Notice that some of you have done that already. Anybody know what's the reason for the recommended 6 months?

Deffo a sign for weaning VS . My HV suggested beginning weaning this week too. I don't know why. She said that baby was growing well (even though I feels she is small compared to all yours!). She said about getting them ready so that they can eat well at 6 months! Bah! Still planning to BF till 6 months, and then blw. Does anyone know of a good website for blw? Or have any advice regarding "instructions" for nursery staff for it (baby being 6 months)?

Anyway, nice video. He's so cute and advanced. In fact all your LOs sound so advanced.

MissVictoriaNSqualor · 05/09/2008 12:10

WWW.BABYLEDWEANING.COM Is the best website, I don't know if you know Aitch from this site? It's her blog and it has a forum on it and everything.

DonDons · 05/09/2008 12:55

question .... when do you stop using the head support thingies in the car seats? DD looks really squashed in hers. She can pretty much sit up on her own (on the floor) and has great head/neck control so does this mean it is not needed anymore? Any htoughts/advice??

MissVictoriaNSqualor · 05/09/2008 13:23

I haven't used Alex's for months.

DonDons · 05/09/2008 13:29

oh poor DD!

thanks VS

Peachy · 05/09/2008 13:38

never used bas's head hugger, he hated it

SushiMama · 05/09/2008 13:45

Thanks VS. No I don't know know Aitch, but I think I've seen her posts. Will check the website. Do you know anything about being in the parents' room till 6 months?

Also good question DonDons re the head support- I was also wondering about mine.

It seems like I'm rather behind or maybe too laid back about things. And this is my pfb!

scorpio1 · 05/09/2008 13:47

Mimi doesn't have her head support either We always share until 6 months; its a risk factor with SIDS, so we do it to minimise risk.

Had a terrible night last night - like yours, VS. she fed so much im suprised i dont look like a prune LOL. put her new cot mobile on, dh helped, but i nthe end i went in the front room & dh slept through her mumblings. Arrgghh

I go at about 5 tonight, but will be off here in about an hour.

SushiMama · 05/09/2008 14:08

Surprised you're still here! Have a lovely time away scorpio! Hope mimi sleeps well there. Don't want to be prune on holiday!

Re new cot mobile: I still haven't used ours yet - no cot yet- and I just found out that they are only to be used till they sit up! So not long then.

scorpio1 · 05/09/2008 14:09

ours turns in to a light/music box when you have to take the main bit off (fisher price leaves mobile)

we only have to drive to plymouth, to get there at 8pm - about an hour and half, but will have to stop on way to feed etc.

EllieG · 05/09/2008 14:13

Oooo have a fab time, I am SO jealous. Hope mimi is lovely and quiet and sleeps through every night while you're on hols. Maybe she is having a little growth spurt?

Mol doesn't feed at all at night now, but just wakes up for company. [sigh] Like you VS, she doesn't care as long as I am around, even if I am quietly sobbing and cursing and threatening to throw her out the window. 'Tis a good thing she can't understand what am saying to her sometimes! 'Go to sleep you little bugger grrrrr' is one of my milder nighttime refrains.

scorpio1 · 05/09/2008 14:38

LOL @ window Ellie i didn't actually realise until last night how close you live to France.

LadyBee · 05/09/2008 14:59

Would the babies be ok if your presence was a sleeping one?
DS went through a bit of waking and chatting - he didn't want anything just was awake, so I decided he'd let me know soon enough if he really needed something and just would go to back to sleep myself, leaving him to it. He obviously went back to sleep by himself eventually. He does sleep beside me in a sidecar sort of arrangement though, so he has my company without me needing to move. Are your babies in their own rooms?
Also, my DP is quite a sound sleeper - would it make a difference to try just leaving them to chunter over the weekend? Three nights might be enough to persuade him that he's not going to get any attention in the night and it's not worth waking up.

I've got Healthy Sleep out of the library at the moment, but haven't opened it. Will have a quick squiz to see if it has a helpful suggestion bit or if I have to read the entire thing in depth to be of any use.

scorpio1 · 05/09/2008 15:00

yes baby will be fine is you are sleeping - if they cry you would wake! Mimi shares with us.

MissVictoriaNSqualor · 05/09/2008 15:13

Hahahahaha, do you mean mine and Ellie's babies?
I know Alex is suitably unimpressed if I am not awake when he is.

sagitta · 05/09/2008 15:49

Scorpio - have a wonderful holiday! I 'm a bit envious, we were meant to be going to France in 2 weeks, and A's passport has just arrived, but DH can't get time off work. Have a great time.

Poor you, VS, and Ellie, and all, you're making me feel as if A's not so bad after all. Much better since we moved rooms and turned the monitor off.

Denny185 · 05/09/2008 16:57

Have a great time on hol Scorpio.

Knitter, u do make me laugh

VS, hope u have better night tonight

MommyHasaHeadache · 05/09/2008 19:06

Gigi just plays if I am sleeping and then just goes back to sleep too!

I'm off tomorrow as well - cannot wait to go - Italy here we come!

See you all when we get back! Ciao!

Denny185 · 05/09/2008 19:20
Envy
SalLikesCoffee · 05/09/2008 19:22

Scorpio, I guess I've missed you, but if you by any chance logs on - hope you have a wonderful time!

MommyHasaHeadache - I forgot your holiday is also beginning now! I'm dead jealous. When are you coming back?

No other holidays allowed, it's going to be too lonely here!

LadyBee · 05/09/2008 20:40

ciao bella!

I'm here...sniff sniff...no holidays in sight.

Grrr..finally called the NZ commission to ask after DS's passport and was told 'oh yes, that's been ready for you to pick up for a while, did no one call you?' ...errrrr no?? that's why I was calling you??

and...stupid stupid council rubbish collectors managed to break the bag of nappies or drop it or something and there are nappies strewn down our road, which I'll have to go and pick up arggghhh. I called the council to complain and ask for the collectors to clean it up and was told, sorry, it'll be monday - this is despite the fact that the collectors were still cruising up and down our neighbourhood and a mobile phone call could have got them to return to do the job. grrrr.

Still it is Friday, DS is asleep, and I'm about to have a glass of lovely wine, while I wait for DP to come home.

SalLikesCoffee · 05/09/2008 21:22

Ladybee, with you on passport frustrations this week!!! Firstly the SA consulate did exactly the same as with B's passport - and it took me about 3 hours (!!!) worth of holding on / being disconnected / holding on / disconnected repeat before someone answered, saying yes, it here. Grrr!

Oh, and to top it off, dh's and my passports were sent back to us from the UK home office (visa extentions) via registered mail. Except Royal Mail didn't bother even leaving us a delivery card, so as a result it was sent to the national sorting office or somewhere, as RM said they didn't know where to return it to!!! It's registered mail for heaven's sake, in an official envelope!!! And we only found out when we called UK home office again. So I've spent most of the last 2 days on the phone to RM - they've now eventually found our passports (in Belfast!), and they'll "process" it Tuesday. They can't tell us when we'll get it. Apparently we should be grateful as it "normally takes weeks". Oh, thanks then. For heaven's sake.

Sorry, rant over.

Sympathies as well with the nappies, Ladybee. Hope the wine helped.

EllieG · 05/09/2008 22:21

Oh no sagitta I didn't want to make anyone feel better, I want a perfect baby who makes everyone else feel inadequate in their parenting. Must lie a little more.

Ahem - actually Molly sleeps from 7-7 and wakes giggling and speaking whole sentences. In French.

(No, my sleeping presence is not good enough for Her Royal Shortness. If she is awake, so must mummy be)
