oh and if it cost you extra for packing let me know

LadyBee · 01/09/2008 13:20

For knowledgeable staff I'd say John Lewis are pretty reliable - and usually have a reasonable selection out to view. They still do that price match thing and do free delivery, plus their shops generally have good feeding/changing facilities all of which adds up to a less stressful shopping experience, I think

We got our cot free from a friend who somehow ended up with two, but am happy with it so far. Can't actually remember whether it's cot or cotbed.

I think DS might be on the mend, while I'm on the downward slope, feeling v sorry for myself and just about to go and look up what medicines I can take while BFing. I bet it's just paracetamol, fat lot of good that does. God I can't wait to be able to dose myself up with sudafed or night nurse or something that actually does something...

I get grumpy when I'm sick.

Denny185 · 01/09/2008 14:07

Afternoon all

Hello Knitter, great to see u back posting again to Sheds if she's reading too

Cotbeds, have u looked in mothercare too. Ours came from Argos (6+ years ago) and is still going, despite the abuse suffered at DS's hands. I have just replaced the mattress with each child. Have also used sprung mattresses not foam as they are in them 4 longer than cots IYSWIM. Find one u want and u could prob get one on line cheaper.

Had a few days away down at Luckymummy's house and she gave DD2 a bottle for me, she took 6oz so now I know she will do it when i go away for weekend in Nov. Her DD2 is sitting really well in bumbo and rolling like a trooper I think A is bit lazy she will roll occasionally but thats your lot, def no sitting control going on yet.

Denny185 · 01/09/2008 14:11

Oops not sure what I did there, wasnt supposed to be a link it said [hello to Sheds if she's reading too]

PortAndLemon · 01/09/2008 15:00

I think DD has a tooth! You can?t really see it, but based on feel it?s definitely through the skin. Now it'll probably retreat and I'll have to eat my words.

We went out for lunch yesterday and she yelled until I gave her a piece of lettuce from my plate. Then she slobbered all over it and settled down to sucking her thumb with the lettuce gripped firmly in her fist. She appears to think that this counts as eating .

LadyBee check out the Breastfeeding Network factsheet on cough and cold remedies. Note in particular that nasal decongestant sprays are generally fine so while you can't take Sudafed tablets, you can use Sudafed nasal spray. I found that worked well for me in combination with paracetemol.

SalLikesCoffee · 01/09/2008 15:03

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy for little PAL!!! We want pics once it can be seen!!! :-))))

scorpio1 · 01/09/2008 15:07

Teeth

i will be a bit freaked by teeth and BF - Peachy, VS, anyone else, whats it like?

i am happier today

washing machine man is coming tomorrow or weds hopefully. though found out today i need an extra 150 euros for holiday property deposit

Cottage pie for dinner, yay!

SalLikesCoffee · 01/09/2008 15:13

Scorpio, you sound well. I'm so glad you got to an agreement that makes you both feel better.

PortAndLemon · 01/09/2008 15:15

Bottom teeth are really a non-issue; if they are latched on properly they can't bite you because their tongue is between their bottom teeth and your nipple. You just need to make sure you are being careful with the latch (a few months in you tend not to be checking it like you were in the beginning) and be ready to take them off when they start to get bored and you feel the latch loosening (which is the point where they might bite you just for something to do).

When DS bit, I said "No biting" firmly, took him off and put him down and ignored him for thirty seconds. He only did it a couple of times.

scorpio1 · 01/09/2008 15:16

it's a start, sal after all this i will be sick of the sight of him in a week

SalLikesCoffee · 01/09/2008 15:17

Roelof can almost crawl (he lifts his back and bum up, lifts head and chest from the ground...), but misunderstands it! So he's quite good at retreating now, lol. A good thing the earth is round!

PortAndLemon · 01/09/2008 15:18

Mind you, the happily chomping on my knuckles is going to have to stop...

scorpio1 · 01/09/2008 15:18

thanks PAL, i want to feed for a while yet. when i first started i thought 6 weeks, then 3 months, then 6 months - but i never wanna stop now!! can't imagine me giving up in 6 weeks now!

when we start blw am hoping to introduce cup with lunch of ebm

scorpio1 · 01/09/2008 15:19

Mimi gets a bit cross on her tummy

Peachy · 01/09/2008 17:35

scorpio, bf with teeth is ok- a few nips if teething iirc, but nothing compared to the scratches I get now [ouch]

PortAndLemon · 01/09/2008 17:38

(Peachy -- I have that episode of WDYTYA recorded, now just have to try to get it transferred onto DVD (which I have done before, but it always takes me a certain amount of faff to remember how))

Peachy · 01/09/2008 17:48

Thank you PAL- very much appreciated

luckymummy74 · 01/09/2008 20:19

Denny- the rolling isn't necassarily as good thing, as you well know!! She seemed a bit better today, just fell asleep for midday nap with her face buried in the mattress !!! I checked on her quite a lot! I'm sure I'll get over it.

Will reply to your email later, glad Mr Denny pulled his socks up.

LadyBee · 01/09/2008 21:01

PAL thank you thank you thank you!
I wonder if have any of the good stuff in the cupboard. Otherwise will make do with olbas oil tonight and be off to pharmacy tomorrow.

DS put himself to sleep tonight! I got bored trying to soothe him, so just put him down, tucked him in, kissed him goodnight and left. I meant just to check my voicemail because I'd heard my mobile go, and then go back up and continue. I could hear him thwacking his hand against the monitor and then it just stopped and he sighed and then that was it
I know, he's poorly, probably exhausted, but still..it's a good sign

Peachy, I was getting the scratches too - I ended up getting a breastfeeding necklace which seems to have done the trick. His latest thing is kneading me - either my boob, my finger (preferred) or my inner arm (ouch!)

I jinxed myself yesterday, DP still not home. But he's promised he'll do dinner when he does get home so am surviving on tea and MN til then.

MommyHasaHeadache · 01/09/2008 21:21

After about 2 weeks of really battling to put DD down at night (she would go to sleep quite happily but then wake 30min to one hour later), tonight she has stayed asleep! Can't tell you how happy I am not to still be trying various things to help her to drift off! I read on one of the sleep threads that sometimes when baies are going fro light sleep to deep sleep it rouses them slightly, and some (mine) don't like it and it wakes them - and of course she has now had a nap and feels refreshed and is now bright and breezy! I've just checked on her and she is sleeping, well, like a baby! How sad is it that this really excites me?

LadyBee - I keep meaning to ask you where you got your necklace? DD is always grabbing at my very delicate necklace, and I thought maybe I would get one like yours for me too and let her grab at that rather!

We got DD's cot bed from Next. Got it in the Christmas sales - £95 down from £195 - a real saving I would say! We got our mattress from Babies R' Us - about £65 and a srping mattress.

SalLikesCoffee · 01/09/2008 23:08

Yayyyyyy MommyHasaHeadache!!! I'm in a good mood and all excited on your behalf now too!

Good to hear everyone and lo's are well.

No real news here. Boring morning tomorrow, have to stay in as roofer coming over to do some work. However, am going to the Fan Museum with a friend for a proper "girly" afternoon tea later. Really looking forward to it.

Denny185 · 02/09/2008 08:42

I put DD2 in her big cot at 8pm last night and went to bed at 9.30 in anticipation of a bad night, and..............................

Denny185 · 02/09/2008 08:43

Denny185 · 02/09/2008 08:44
