Amani · 22/08/2008 10:07

just keep swimming - DD2 usually wakes up around 6:30am so another early riser here. First time in months DD slept from 8:30pm to 6am, quick fee then up at 6:45am...yeah got a good solid 7 hrs sleep....couldn't believe the time when I woke up...

AngeChica · 22/08/2008 12:39

DS is clingy at the moment, but he was like this when we first got to Bulgaria then settled into a good routine.

Bless him he was as good as gold on the flights, tho a bit fidgety on the way back, having gained so much more mobility in the time we were away. Re: Holiday =

Cons: a lot of time lurking indoors under the air con. No high chairs in restaurants, no changing facilities anywhere. Terrible pavements. Terrifying drivers on the roads. Odd varieties of baby food. Pampers that aren't as comfy or leakproof. Water getting cut off in village, making bottles with boiled mineral water . Big thunderstorms and power cuts. Buying toys of low quality to entertain DS. Ho hum.

Pros: Time spent together as a family and DH learning loads more about what makes DS tick. Girls day out at a spa with some friends from the village, longest I have ever left DS (6 hrs). Cheap eats and beer!

Washng mountain still there .

LaTrucha · 22/08/2008 13:51

Damn Angechica - and I sent the house elves round too! I'll go and kick their arses for not doing your washing

Early rising here too, JKS and Amani. She's full of smiles and we're almost dead!

Sabela took her first bump today and it was in public! She fell backwards while sitting onto a wood floor just at the moment I had taken my hand away at the bf group.
Seems ok though.

nicky6 · 22/08/2008 19:39

madmouse · 22/08/2008 21:04

mutter mutter mutter one week on holiday and the whole lot ups sticks without leaving a forwarding address....

Hello I am back

Welcome to those who joined in my absence, look forward to meeting you properly.

Susie noooooo was insanely looking forward to meeting you and Sabela . Let me know when you can come or another place we can meet.

So who is coming to Brum on Monday (yes this Monday - I hope- next Monday Nathan has physio so I cannot make it until later)

Did you post about dd losing weight Susie? When Nathan was last weight in hospital two weeks ago he had not put on any weight in two weeks, but then his ear infection was just clearing. He is now suddenly chubbying up a bit and feels real heavy. The crease on his left wrist had disappeared and it is now 'growing' back day by day. Will get him weighed next week to see what he has done.

Just back from a lovely week in Northumberland in a cottage (glad not camping, cold and wet)on a remote farm near hadrian's wall. The only sound was my goddaughter (19 months) clomping up and down stairs in the next cottage at 6am and soooo dark. Spent lots of time with our friends but also as a family, saw nathan thriving on the presence of dh and the two bonding closer (dh loves carrying Nathan around everywhere showing him everything and telling him what he is seeing, and nathan loves sitting on his arm) and made some nice trips. Am a bit of an archeaology and history nut so all that roman stuff was great. also made a long wanted trip to Holy Island (Lindisfarne) but was disappointed by the tourist trap it has become.

Oh well, enough. sorry not more personals, not really caught up yet and laundry waiting before bed.

night all

LaTrucha · 22/08/2008 21:20

Hi Madmouse -

I'm really sorry about it too, but I realised the money aspect was really stressing me out when I woke up worrying about it. Will really try and make the next one. If you every fancy a trip to a small Welsh town you would be very welcome! It is pretty and we deo have a castle - well, ruins..

Yes. Sabela lost weight after advice from HV . I should have considered her advice more carefully, but she promised me more sleep so I swallowed it whole. Basically it involved getting Sabela to make three radical changes to her diet (larger amount, more frequently and more variety). Had I not been sleep deprived I would have done this one at a time. We're still iving with the consequences. She was such an enthusiastic eater before

Has anyone managed reusable nappies? I've done it a bit but with this weather and no tumble dryer it's just impossible.

madmouse · 22/08/2008 21:26

I have lots of reusable nappies in the wardrobe, but they look ridiculous on my skinny little man and I think it really impairs his mobility to wear them. and with all the physio and exercises he can't be doing with that, so they stay where they are

which town are you in?

Lilyloo · 22/08/2008 21:34

Madmouse . Ange glad you had good hols welcome back
phew you found us

Nicky have lovely hol

Betterhalf Toby sleeping

LaTrucha i think i am going to have to keep close eye on her she not really red though (see pic) but very sensitive although she flared up in m&s today getting ds uniform so could be teething too! Hope dd ok after bump!

Jks your early mornings how was swimming ?

Amani yeah a full night would be glad for more than 3 hrs here!

Lucky dogs ?

Well really pi£$%d off here, DP was to start new job on Tue he gave weeks notice as directed by agency they agreed to pay him until Wed so only half week with wages until Tue. We now find out today he won't start until wk on Mon! We so skint this is enough to tip us over the edge r/e bills. Basically he can't argue it with new job and the bloke from agency off till Tue! Am so sick of one step forward ten steps back! Just doesn't seem fair we have lost weeks wagesdue to incompetance of agency, new job!

Hi all,

I brought home a greyhound today to have as emergency foster. He is skin and bones and has lots of cuts alover him. He's an ex racer who had shown no interest in the cats at the centre.

Got him home and a miss-communication between me and DP and Lucky and "Logan" got together, Lucky has only just got back 4hours later. Luckily no cuts on her just a couple of chipped claws from climbing the fence so fast.

So he's going back tomorrow and we've agreed no dogs with poor ol' lucky. We think Salem would love the right dog but lucky would never be comfortable and with her background of a being a rescue cat no-one knows what kind of experience she's had with dogs before and this incident has made it worse.

I've agreed to foster for cats and kittens but thats about it as couldn't cope with anything else due to all the cleaning out.

So.... there we go. It's a real shame as Logan is a gorgeous dog. He's scared of DP and cowers really quickly but going on the marks on him chances are when he stopped winning he got beaten and neglected. He really needs some TLC and bringing back to normal weight. He was an absolute star with DD as well.

Lilyloo · 22/08/2008 22:08

Lucky but at least you know.
My sis offered to have our dog for when we were away but she and i ahve rescue dogs.
They didn't hit it off and lickily wee had practice session first.
You never know what rescue dogs/cts etc have been through so at least you have tested water.
My dog and sis dog hated each other but at least we know and they havesuffered little ill effects.
Am sure they will find him suitable home!

LuckySalem · 22/08/2008 22:13

I hope so cos he REALLY needs it.

MrsMcJnr · 23/08/2008 00:27

Hey ladies, I discovered tonight that Xavier has 2 more teeth, top incisors, so cute and he is so proud of them

Quiet on here, I was expecting to come back to pages and pages after my night off!

Lucky ? hope you are feeling much better, sorry to hear about the clash between Logan and Lucky the people downstairs have a kitten and a Yorkie puppy and it is so cure watching them chase each other but they are similar sizes and weights for now!

Lilyloo ? you a troll, never!!!! sorry to hear about SP?s wages

Betterhalf ? wow! Great sleeps from Toby, let?s hope he keeps it up!!

Armani ? posted for you on your other thread, hope things are getting better!

Hey Angechica nice to get an update from you glad you had a good time.

LaTucha ? poor Sabela, hope she is ok after her bump! I wanted to use real nappies but the real Nappy Project in Scotland really let me down hopefully next time!

Nicky6 ? have a fab time!

Madmouse ? welcome back, sounds like a lovely holiday!

justkeepswimming · 23/08/2008 06:17

5.30 today, so getting later...

lucky - so sad for you and poor logan too, makes me want to give him a home! i suppose you have to put those you already have first. there'll still (sadly) be dogs in need of tlc in years to come.

madmouse - welcome back! yes i was watching the old thread for a day wondering why it was so quite before i realised we'd moved!!
holiday sounds fab and chilled and you brought a tear to my eye about nathan and his dad!
poor ds2 doesn't get as much time with dad as i would like as ds1 takes so much of it.

lily - hope it's 'just' teething not sunburn then. ds2 got really overheated yesterday afternoon and wouldn't stop crying, calpol at bedtime and he seems ok so far today.
swimming was really good, we were all knackered afterwards! in the water for nearly an hour, ds1 could have stayed even longer i think but it was ds2's first time so didn't want to push our luck. (tho may have as he was so unhappy later on?) oh and bad luck re dp and jobs/wages! argh for you!

mrsmc - yey to xavier's teeth! think ds2 will have his eighth any moment, then hope we can have a pause (8 in 5 weeks, eek!)

LaT - used reusables loads with ds1, only on occasion with ds2, oops! really should try harder!

right feeding time for ds2!

LaTrucha · 23/08/2008 10:08

MM - I can easily see how you'd think the nappies impede Nathan. Most of them do with Sabela, except the Imse Vimse ones. We are in Aberystwyth. Tempting description here. Sounds liek a lovely holiday. My parents went to Holy Island on Honeymoon. Sad to hear it's become commercialised.

Sorry about Logan. A grey hound is a big dog, though. Maybe they can give you something smaller? OR are you not allowed to be picky?

AMAZING! Sabela slept from 8.30 to 5am, then another hour after feeding . I, of course, kept waking to check on her

Helo all!

Lilyloo · 23/08/2008 10:10

anybody who wanted that 7.50 bouncy castle from woolworths it's back in stock!
here

MrsMcJnr · 23/08/2008 11:00

Wow JKS that's a lot of teeth!!

LaTrucha - yay for a better night! bet you feel so much better!

madmouse · 23/08/2008 14:07

Susie yeah for better night. Nathan did 8.45-11.30-3.30-6-7.30-8.40 . I am giving him another week and then it is bottle at night. Shame as he seems to be doing very nicely on milk and solids atm. of course we had this travel day yesterday, so maybe tonight is better.

toptip for travelling/holiday: Tesco disposable bibs are fab. 2.79 for 20, they have sticky tabs for fixing to clothes and even a crumb catcher. I wasn't planning to wash a lot in the cottage and I have had dirty bibs gone mouldy on me before .

Lilyloo · 23/08/2008 14:12

anyone else have this

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 23/08/2008 14:37

Ugh MM. Nights like that are grim! Hope he is sleepy tonight! We're trying to get her on a bottle. We're starting with a cup during the day, with a little bit of success. She just chews bottles ATM.

Hello MRsMC and Lilyloo!

AngeChica · 23/08/2008 16:16

hello everyone... trying to catch up a bit more now.

My "boys" DH, DS and dog are all asleep on the bed upstairs. Since we got home from our hols DS has been out of sorts and I wonder if he is getting more teeth as pulling ears a lot. Waking at night crying which is a bit draining. If he wakes around 6am I cave in and let him in our bed, he will then sleep for another hour at least but I tend not to be able to get back to sleep anyway. Also cries if we leave the room when had started to be able to leave him safely with toys for a little while. Oh well, hopefuly will settle down again soon.

He has 4 bottles a day still. I was reluctant to cut out more as I have a real struggle getting him to drink juice or water even from his regular bottles. I tried putting formula in a cup to tempt him but he just gets upset with cups - have tried a variety of them. I suppose I just have to keep going back and trying again?

He also has 3 good meals a day. Tried a stage 2 food last night as he will be 7 months next week, but he didn't like the lumps at all - the only time he's ever refused food. Oh well will try again in a week or 2.

NB has anyone tried the good night milk with any success. DS still has a dream feed of 3 or 4 oz at 11 which I don't feel confident enough to cut out yet.

DH still off for another week before schools go back. Then I have September to enjoy before I go back to work on 1 October. It's actually my annual leave so the last time I will be on full pay before dropping to half time wages - eek! Will have to get new "fat" work clothes, if anything I put on weight on hol despite vows to eat lots of healthy salads turned out to be lots of kebabs and bread . I just look pregnant still and boobs still bigger despite no more BF. It's quite depressing .

A Very Annoying Thing happened yesterday. Before we went away the high chair broke so John Lewis were going to deliver a replacement yesterday between 12-2. DH therefore dismantled the broken one, which is one of those wooden ones that convert into a little chair and table so quite a job to assemble etc. Well at 11am John Lewis rang to say the replacement had not turned up at the depot and would call us to say when new delivery slot would be. They never called back and it seems pointless to put it all back together so we are sans high chair for the foreseeable .

The Northumberland coast is beautiful isn't it Madmouse. We have a few favourite spots apart from Lindisfarne. How is Nathan?

How is la vida en Espana MrsMc? Whereabouts are you? Just wanted to let you know, some of the old regulars (eg Awen, Beller, Naetha) are on our Facebook group "Mumsnetters Due January 2008" (which isn't very active but handy to share pics and add friends)

PS Had a quick glance at old thread and if Isabellasmam is here still, I'm in the NE too (just north of Newcastle).

horsygirl · 23/08/2008 17:59

oh my god i'm pregnant again

help, guys! I'd only just started to feel human again

LaTrucha · 23/08/2008 18:47

Hooray Horsygirl! Congratulations. Everyone I know who had two under two says it's a really nice age gap.

LuckySalem · 23/08/2008 20:30

Horseygirl - First of all congrats. Secondly you dont seem as though you want congrats. How can we help?

We've said no to dogs for now to allow Lucky time to get over it. DP wants a dog for DD when she's older so I'm gonna see if a couple of rescues will allow some sleepovers with a completely cat safe dog to get her used to it.

Meet up on Monday I'm soooo excited. It's 11am at the sealife centre yes? Who is actually coming now?
