madmouse · 24/08/2008 19:03

Lucky it looks like you and me so lets reschedule. Can one of you Welsh ladies take theinitiative to pick a good time. Shame though

Bluebell sorry you are poorly. Hope better soon. Am planning Touchwood on Friday, fancy a coffee?

Big change in Casa Madmouse: Moved the cot into the nursery. Bad night or good, we will see! but it is time Nathan moves out, and dh still has two days off so won't be hit so hard by sleep problems.

Dh actually requested a BFP for his birthday next month but I have not even had a period yet and our sex life is non existent, so i think it will be a while longer. And although i would happily have another child, I am not sure about another pregnancy!

LuckySalem · 24/08/2008 19:08

MM - I know exactly what you mean about waiting a little while longer LOL.

As for meet-up we'll reshedule (sp) for next month?
Best dates for anyone? I know I'm not free for saturdays most of next month and can't do tues/weds/thurs. (i'm a pain I know)

Same place?

madmouse · 24/08/2008 19:10

La Trucha is it sickness you suffer from?

I had an easy pregnancy, but the nightmare started soon after and there is the issue of having been advised to consider c-sections from now on.

Still hope to have three kids though and have a feeling it will be three boys.

bluebell82 · 24/08/2008 19:54

hi madmouse, that sounds fab should be feeling better by then, my dh has been feeling a little rough but put it down to long hours at work so think it might be a little bug! Ruby's fine though!

Let me know about fri and I'll pop up I'm only 5mins away, you've got my mob number haven't you?

As for more meet ups I can't do saturdays next month but could do any other time except 16th/17th.

We are actively trying again now, probably why I'm feeling so grotty!!! But then that would mean my dh is pregnant too

LaTrucha · 24/08/2008 20:34

What a pity about tomorrow. I'll have a muse about dates.

MM - good luck with the cot! How do you feel about the c-section issue? I'm very unsure about what I want. I had a condition called hyperemesis. If you think of what a migraine is like in comparison to a headache, that's what hyperemesis is like in comparison to morning sickness. It's grim, and unfortunately mine lasted all the way through. I could only walk steadily from about week 29 but was still on medication. There's a good chance I'll get it next time so will definitely need help with Sabela. Makes me feel very sad about bf though as the time-frame means I'll probably have to give up rather than have her self-wean. I know I could be pg and bf but if I have hyperemesis again I think I'd end up in hospital trying to do that. Sorry, probably more information that you wanted!

madmouse · 24/08/2008 21:25

Susie that sounds awful. I was mostly queasy during the day and more when I was tired but despite commuting never was sick 9good thing too i am scared of being sick - still call for my mother and she has been gone 11 years!)and only for 3 months, so can't imagine what it would be like! Have you tried an osteopath for yourself?

I can imagine that you would have to stop bf if you cannot eat enough to sustain a mature baby's needs. So you are hoping to bf until Sabela gives up? I am planning to wean nathan when he is 8 months, as that gives me 2 months before going back to work and by then he should be well established on solids. To be honest I have had enough of bf. Yes, we are good at it and he is thriving on it, but the bad nights are wearing me down and he can be demanding, especially with a tendency to split a feed in three with something exciting to do in between or insisting on feeding when he is tired or unsure.

I am not sure about the c-section. I was advised by my consultant in Oxford, Lawrence Impey, a very well known obs specialising in high risk and with a particular interest in causes of brain damage, so well placed to advise me. He is also considered anti-section so that lends it more weight still. He thinks I have a number of risk factors that come together under the stress of labour, but that I can consider a trial of labour as long as I bail out at the first hint of trouble.

I really want to labour without epidural, actively like I planned, and feel myself push out my baby, preferably in an active position. I want to have the baby on my tummy when s/he takes his first breath and feed straight away. But labour is only a day and I do not want a repetition of the nightmare we had with Nathan.

So at the moment I am thinking elective at 39 weeks or so (I am also not allowed to go over dates or be induced) and hope I go into labour before that and have a standard straightforward second labour, with an emergency section of at all needed.

What a ramble, sorry.

By the way I have printed off the entire 'support thread for madmouse' and put it in Nathan's memory box. It was such a lifeline!

MrsMcJnr · 24/08/2008 23:55

Hey ladies can?t believe the weekend is almost over again we had a lovely afternoon at the beach today, just the three of us, a huge parasol, two enormous towels and some Fisher Price bricks

Madmouse ? hope last night was a better night, Nathan waking up so much must be hard on you those bibs are great aren?t they? We have the problem of ants if anything like that is left around! I missed all you went through when you had Nathan, I?m sorry you had such a hard time hon

Lilyloo ? so that?s what those marks are?! sorry about the Thomas train

Hi LaTrucha don?t worry too much about next time round, you never know and as for self-weaning, that?s it DS hasn?t fed from me since last Sunday and I think my milk has now gone so that?s that book closed ? feel both sad and happy about it.

Hey Angechica hope DS settles down soon, I had a week like that a couple back. He sounds similar to mine in terms of still needing 4 feeds. He was 7 months old today so I am starting stage 2 tomorrow. I?ve tried him with the Hipp night milk and with a Spanish version and he loves it. The Spanish one (which is by Milupa) is really thick so I mix it ½ ½ with his normal milk. That?s very annoying about your high chair Say hello to all the others for me, why don?t they post here anymore?? I am a Facebook phobe I?m afraid, had a bad experience with a weirdo from school so I don?t use it.

One the subject of milk, what formula are you all using and are you using follow on milk? I know my HV wasn?t keen but I can?t remember why.

Horsygirl congratulations hon!!!! I am really hoping to join you in that wonderful state again soon!! Haven?t even had an AF since DS was born though so I may have to wait a while!

Luckysalem ? enjoy the meet up big hugs over the doggie, so sorry hon!

Poltesco so glad things are back on track for you. We have a BT 1500 for something, it has a really good range and I?m really happy with it

JKS ? I don?t know how you keep on going hon!

Bluebell ? I hope you feel much better soon

Betterhalf ? me! me! I?d like another baby soon never say never!

justkeepswimming · 25/08/2008 06:21

up from 4-5, then up at 5.45

yawn.....

LaTrucha · 25/08/2008 08:39

Morning ladies,

Sabela out of sorts this morning. Hot and whiney. We're hoping it's teething, not another UTI.

MrsMc - did he do that by himself? I'd love it if Sabela dod that but she is a booby fiend still.

JKS - So sorry! Poor you.

MM - I too still have the feeling of wanting to birth my next baby 'normally' but I'm scared of another horrible time. Yours sounds like a sensible plan. It's a peculiar feeling that it's so out oo our control, isn't it? Yet we are so fortunate in the rich world to have this care.

I've had an osteo for my back. Would they be help with sickness?

I'd love to know how the weaning goes. I'd love her bto self-wean, but I don't think it's going to happen. We have offered bottle but at the moment it just gets used as a teething aid or a drum!

Lilyloo · 25/08/2008 09:52

Hey all that train saga goes from bad to worse it was bid on by someone from Italy despite me putting UK only.
Basically it's too big to send at cost i quoted him.
So have decided to refund and hope he agrees to withdraw from sale. Otheriwse i am going to be hugely out of pocket not good start to selling!
On a positive note i think we are going to join my bf and her dp tom for two nights camping Never been before so any tips if any of you have been with lo's much appreciated.

Can't beleieve all this talk of concieveing again it's very exciting! But doesn't make me want to join you

Mrsmc sounds lovely could do with some sunshine here it's constant rain!

JKS sympathy on early starts and the olympics finished too

MM how is the 'move' going ? We going to keep on with bf for forseeable future but it has got easier now as she is only doing 1/2 feeds around 11/3 am which is a massive improvement!

LaTrucha hope Sabela feels better soon we had few rough days with teething tried to get some of the ashtons powder at asda yesterday but they had none!

Hope everyone else ok

madmouse · 25/08/2008 10:34

Lily stop right there, you are under no obligation to send him the thing for the p&p quoted if you selected UK only. Either he is a cheeky so and so or he has not read properly, any way not your problem. Email him with an estimate of what it will cost to send it to him and he can take it or leave it. if he agrees send him an invoice for the correct amount and do not despatch before you have the money cleared.

calculate postage here

madmouse · 25/08/2008 10:37

sorry lily I think i might have come on a bit too strongly there but just realising you are new to selling got a bit defensive on your behalf

Well Nathan does not seem to mind the nursery, but still did not sleep much better.

Had to resettle him at 10 and 11.30 (when he insisted on 4 mouthfuls or so of milk ), then dh brought him into the bedroom at 2 wide awake and very hungry, and he fed again at 4. Then at 7 and back to sleep until 8.30.

And me awake listening out for him a lot of the time

Guess it will settle down

Have a nice bank holiday everyone

Lilyloo · 25/08/2008 11:04

Thanks mm i did tell him it would be £9 but that is going to be way short as i did that dependant on weight and didn't realise it had size restriction
Now i have refunded and will take it to post office tom and get an actual price to post. I will then contact him with this and see if he wants to resend correct money or if we can mutually agree to withdraw from sale as don't want neg feedback
It seems a lot of hassle for a few quid think i may knock this selling on the head tbh!

He seems to like comfort from you as does dd actually ds who was like this still likes lot's of cuddles unlike dd1 who is very 'independant' so swings and roundabouts as them cuddles are very precious when they get older.

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 25/08/2008 14:35

I'm formula and we're on Heinz Nurture (used to be farleys) We're not doing follow on milk someone told me its thicker than the hungry milk which is too thick for DD to have more than 1 bottle a day of so we're not having it.

betterhalf · 25/08/2008 17:30

I use Aptamil. I did try the follow on milk but Toby found it too rich and it kept making him sick so I just went back to the first stage one which he loves.

madmouse · 25/08/2008 20:03

Wow, I made some carrot pasta and tuna puree for Nathan. I was doubting whether it was enough for two days but was worried it would not keep so piled it all in his bowl and he left a good teaspoon behind he is really taking off and gaining weight. It took him 6 weeks to gain 230 grams, but according to my scales he has gained 700grams in the last 3 weeks . That should bump him back up the centiles!

betterhalf · 25/08/2008 21:04

How heavy is he now MM?

Lilyloo · 25/08/2008 21:14

Madm thanks for ebay advice. I have sorted it amicably with buyer luckily he was really nice and has agreed to withdraw from sale and even left nice feedback phew!

All packed here ready to leave for camping tom my friend just rang she went down today and said it is VERY muddy what am i thinking

OP posts:
madmouse · 25/08/2008 21:18

betterhalf my scales have him at 7kg or 15lb and an ounce or 6, so still a lightweight!

AngeChica · 25/08/2008 21:21

I was using Aptamil first. Switched to Hipp because I was told by Aptamil helpline that you couldn't get Aptamil in Bulgaria. Of course when we went to the supermarket it WAS there but was very expensive. Hipp is cheap (in UK too) but - I'm not sure if I'm imagining it but it seems to get used up quickly .

My HV said follow on milk is only necessary if you have a fussy eater otherwise first milk is fine to carry on with if they are getting a good diet of solids.

It's been a crap grey bank holiday weekend here. DS grouchy in daytime, the top teeth definitely coming in. Has slept 11 hours straight at night for last two nights though (phew).

Advice wanted please... I'm starting to think about childminder now and how it might be difficult for her because DS is really not at all used to being away from me. Other mums I know up here are always parking their babies on relatives but I don't have that available. To settle him for naps or the night I still cuddle him to sleep. Sometimes he'll let DH do it but more often than not he just wants me. I think he likes to feel my boob a hang over from BF I think! This is really bad practice I know and can feel quite "binding" at times. I would love to get him to self settle with minimum distress but am really unsure how to go about it so any tips welcome. Ta!

betterhalf · 25/08/2008 21:27

Sounds like he's doing great MM. What a good little boy gobbling up all his food.

No advice AngeChica I'm afraid. I'm still the one here who puts Toby to bed and gets him off to sleep . I think I'm a bit of a worrier and I haven't left him with anyone other than DH yet. He's 7 months today so I really need to loosen up a bit. I need to go get my highlights re done but that would mean leaving him with someone for a number of hours! Oooooh deep breaths needed.

justkeepswimming · 25/08/2008 21:27

betterhalf - i wouldn't mind if it was just a few days a month (think dh would rejoice!) but it has been several times a day every day for a while now. though not today, even though we were both shattered, so maybe i've turned a corner?
feel so bad for him as he's walking on eggshells and never knows what will set me off this time....
want to be myself again. did have much worse pmt after ds1 than i had before so maybe my hormones are still messed up, wish i hadn't started the pill after ds2.

madmouse - hope the 2nd night goes better, and you start sleeping too!! now that nathan has moved out, a bfp might be more likely
and well done on the cooking and eating front
i would say you have it right about labour - if you wait until your body goes into labour and be ready to go for a c-s at any hint of trouble, then you know the baby is ready to come out, and should help with bf.
will be so cool for nathan to read that thread when he's older, he prob won't believe it all.

susie - hope hyperemesis doesn't come back for you - is it likely if you had it once to have again?

mrsmc - the beach trip sounds lovely and relaxed - ds1 makes sure there's no relaxing when we go to the beach! sent dh out with both boys this afternoon so i could go back to bed for 45mins, lovely. not sure how i'm still functioning either! tho others on here have it worse - i think!

lily - do the zips up so they finish at the top, then LOs can't undo and escape...!
don't expect much sleep, lol! otherwise, enjoy!
and i know - what will i watch at 5am now???!!?!?
just curled up on the sofa under a blanket while ds2 played on the floor this morning, really hope he 'gets it' soon!
glad you got the ebay thing sorted out.

dh's birthday tomorrow, have bought him silly presents really:
kiwi knife - he always chops up kiwi for the boys
juicer - he makes pancakes for breakfast and we love lemon juice and sugar on them
beach hut money box - he said he wanted the beach hut ages ago (not for the money box, just as an ornament) but the shop had run out.
a meerkat! - a little one, his favourite animal from when we lived in africa!
and i made him a card with a meerkat picture.
so it's just tea in bed and dinner out tomorrow i think.
hope we get some decent sleep in first tho otherwise we'll be too tired to go out!

right, night all

betterhalf · 25/08/2008 21:29

Meant to say that Toby is still in our bedroom. Am I the only one stressing about their baby moving into another room? I am dreading it. I reckon I'm going to be up loads during the first week or so just checking on him. And if I'm honest I am really going to miss looking up and seeing him fast asleep in his cot.

madmouse · 25/08/2008 21:31

Ange,(Here she comes again ) The Babywhisperer technique, where you put your baby down awake but calm and sleepy, then when he cries pick him up and pat and shush until calm put him back awake and repeat until baby gets the message which is:

  1. I can go to sleep on my own
  2. Somebody will come when I cry so I am really quite safe.

It does not involve leaving baby to cry which I like.

I will do it more once Nathan is off the breast as at the moment him finishing his feed and him falling asleep happen at the same time and I am never quick enough to get him in his cot awake.

Your childminder will find her own way though, and she will not have such an emotional bond so may well find it easier.

JKS is it one of yours that naps in nursery but not at home?

justkeepswimming · 25/08/2008 21:33

yes madm - ds1 sleeps at nursery but WILL NOT at home - unless something really different has happened. he will fall asleep in the car if we go out somewhere tiring like this morning! and we are desperately trying to keep him awake to get home for lunch!!

they have to wake him up now at nursery cos he will sleep for 2hours then wont go to bed!
