HC - poor Em - have a look at this thread re post-school crabbiness, you are not alone it seems www.mumsnet.com/Talk/43/599496

Can't remember, is she in Reception or Year 1? (I only learned of the existence of both of these today I am a school system ignoramus)

Was shocked to learn from the HV that my Emma will be starting school in exactly 2 years time has no-one noticed she's only a baby!

HumphreysCorner · 05/09/2008 10:50

Pixel-that thread is so funny and so true. Knew I was doing something wrong taking Emma to Bsllet on a Friday evening-starts again tonight. Last night they were in bed by 6pm but less than 2 hours later I heard wailing and found Emma wandering about on the landing muttering. Carefully put her back to bed-bless. Sophie starts in 2 years time but she is my baby and that shouldn't be allowed to happen. Sent Emma to nursery at 2 as I couldn't keep her entertained but Sophie is so easy to please so won't be going to nursery until at least aged 3 and a bit.

Raining, pouring here. Joy oh joy. Dad has told me how to blanch cooking apples for freezing so guess what I'm doing next?

Love to all

Day Two of Booze-Free Month:
Still going! Well it's only lunchtime...
For all you non-believers: I think the more people I tell I'm doing it, the more incentive to stick to it? No? I told some people at work and they just laughed at me...

A girl at work has just had her laptop stolen, and two others their wallet. Her laptop contained her WHOLE thesis which she was just finished writing and hadn't backed up for a while, AND a paper she had written. She's so upset. Lots of us are in shock, as I always just leave my bag on my desk it could have been my bag. Bastard, whoever did it. Security can do nothing. Idiots.

Mimi woke loads last night. I went in at one point and she was sprawling around on the middle of the floor, trying to get comfy!! I put her back in and she went straight off again. Very funny though!

And we have appointments for JOEY to see potential schools for him... . Whatever about our two year olds starting in 2 years, he's starting next year...
And Pixel I'm about as clued up as you about it, it's taken me ages to work out what to do...

HC, hope Emma is ok, she'll settle in in a few days.

HELLO PAVLOV!

ceebee74 · 05/09/2008 16:01

Ok, so am I the only one who is actually looking forward to my baby starting school?? (I know I probably am as all my friends with young children are also dreading it).

I honestly think Josh will love it and I just keep thinking about the money we will save - maybe it is because I pay out so much childcare costs and am looking at it from a financial point of view I have already got plans to put that money in a 'holiday fund' and am quite upset that baby no.2 will be born in November so I will have to pay an extra year's nursery fees for him

HumphreysCorner · 05/09/2008 17:35

ceebee-I would have paid to send Emma to school when she was 2. Well ready for it then. She has been a bugger at dancing tonight and came out crying and refused to go back it. Don't know how to punish her as she doesn't know she has done anything wrong.

Forgot to say hi to Pav.

Cracked open the vino (sorry Annie). Final of BB tonight-yay! Going to miss it though.

thefortbuilder · 05/09/2008 17:54

i cracked open the vino last night couldn't resist.

well jacob slept well but the bastards across the way having their house renovated had an alarm go off at 2am which was still going at 830. i've been pretty much awake since 2am and shattered although i did sleep from 330 till 520 so that has helped. playdate today with a woman i can't help but be irritated by irrationally (if jacob is doing something her daughter is doing it as well - that kind fo competition), and of course jacob decided to behave atrociously. and me being shattered didn't help. lots of "don't worry hun youre just shattered" - she's pregnant so i can't even be snappy with her

anyway, apart from that, have made 3rd sale for business!!! WOO HOO!!!!

book crossing is where you register books and then just leave them in public places for other people to pick up, put o nthe site they have picked them up and read, then repeat the process, so you can see how far books get. although i'm attempting to release a jilly cooper later which i'm sure will get nowhere

anyway must away far too much to do even though giorgia is with jacob!

Hi everyone, finally caught up with all the messages. Im booking our hol for next year and were thinking of going all inclusive. so due to the hotel and food being quite important I have spent every night this week reading all the online reviews for the hotels I fancy. Im actually fed up of looking now and couldnt care which one we go for.

Weve had a terrible sleepless week. DS sleeps in a bedroom with a velux window and hates the rain on his window(we cant move him to another room) it means he has refused to sleep in there all week and only our bed. DH is complaining he cant sleep properly so last night I resorted to getting DS old cot matress and setting it up on our bedroom floor and he slept on that. Worked quite well and he slept all night- bliss.

DD started back to school this week which she loves and DS is due to start nursery on Monday, I wonder how long he will actually stay! He will prob be the first and youngest to start school, he will be 3 next august and will start school in the septemberso only a year to go.

I certaintly dont win the longest mariage, Dh and I have been together 14yrs but married for 3 of them.

We have had the most boringest day ever. Its rained constantly, DH is in work and all our friends are busy. We have sat around the house all morning doing various play things then ventured to the park for 30 mins before we got soaked and now were watching boomerrang/cebebes/dvds we are all going stir crazy and I cant wait for dh to get home.

kbaby · 06/09/2008 17:05

Update- DS is now colouring but DD has told him 'remember now when you finish colouring to put all the lids back on the pens because otherwise I will not be very happy'

No wonder he loves it when shes at school

TheGoddessBlossom · 07/09/2008 19:52

Hey KBabes. Where are you thinking of going? Our Egypt trip in November is AI. Had to pay the balance of it today actually which leaves me officially skint.

Had a nice weekend, DH worked yesterday so had some friends round for lunch and then went to another friends' for tea. Angel MIL came to stay the night so we drank too much wine and did our nails and she got up with the boys this morning so I had a lovely lie in till 8.30am bliss. Then took boys swimming this morning, and round to my parents this afternoon.

This week is their last week in nursery. Playing squash tomorrow and then have loads of jobs to do including cleaning the house, getting various bits organised for H's birthday on Thursday and his party on Saturday etc. Plus starting to look at schools for him as have to get choice of schools in by November etc. Busy busy busy who's got time for a job?

xx

aGalChangedHerName · 08/09/2008 08:28

Morning all

Just a quickie before the school run!!

Heard on Friday that it will be 4-6 weeks before i get a date for my scan to check for gallstones and then after seeing a surgeon (god only knows how long it will take to see one of them) it will probably be 6-8 months before i get the op

Really wanted to shoot myself when the doc told me on Friday. So no alcohol or any fat in my diet till next year. Will be shite going on hold in April to Cyprus then eh?

On a positive note tho my ds1 was 17 on Friday. DH had him out in a dual controlled car yesterday and he did really well. Stalled the car 2-3 times but managed hill starts etc. Will be paying for driving lessons as his birthday present so hope he passes soon. Think they are around £25 now

Anyhoo better get the pests to school/nursery and toddlers.

Hope you are all doing ok xx

Oh and Spin Eilidh's hair is no longer at her bum. Had to get it cut as Niamh had made such a mess of it lol. It's slightly below where a bra strap would be.

thefortbuilder · 08/09/2008 09:08

wow agalch below bra strap level is still pretty long! dh is laying down the law re jacob's hair and as soon as it gets a bit shaggy looking dh demands to get it cut. jacob however won't go near the hairdressers

quiet weekend here and it's less than a month till we go to malaysia. our new au pair still not arrived so fingers crossed her visa is sorted soon. girl next door doing some babysitting this week so i can sort out website and stuff for baby show!

our washing machine is broken - well i think a pipe has come loose at the back as the water is now draining out onto the floor. plumber coming this morning!

and i have a girls dinner on thursday night - would this be ok if you were given it for dinner - beef and mushroom casserole (non meat eater is having cod) in red wine gravy with saffron mash, buttered carrots. then for dessert chocolate and raspberry roulade from COOK. then probably cheese. and lots of wine. there will be 8 of us so casserole the easiest thing to do in my smallest oven in the world!

Am just hoping that it is easily fixed whatever it is

HumphreysCorner · 08/09/2008 22:29

On the plus side is the fact that i have lost 6lbs in 2 weeks. Maybe i will get to my target lol

TheGoddessBlossom · 09/09/2008 08:51

morning all.

Two job interviews tomorrow. Wish me luck. One in London in the morning, Bracknell in the afternoon. Nervous, I hate interviews.

Ironically it is the boys' last day at nursery tomorrow, just as well as god knows how I'd do it otherwise.

Having a day at home today, apart from squash with my sister at lunchtime. Got to make H's birthday cake, do you think it will be ok for Thursday tea time if I make it today? Shall I ice it or not?

thefortbuilder · 09/09/2008 09:09

it'll be fine if you make it today just ice it later on in the week?

how are we all today? i'm trying desperately to lose more weight again.....

OP posts:
HumphreysCorner · 09/09/2008 09:16

Good luck Bloss-you will be fine. Agree, make the cake and ice it the night before.

flick-put on yet another 1/2 lb at WW last night so well over Goal Weight. Today I am back to writing it all down and weighing things.

Waves to all.

i know that one HC... at least with giorgia gone home and our new au pair not here yet I'm not having full meals every evening! trying to have a good breakfast and then light lunch and dinner.

at least now mondays and tuesdays i do pretty much three round trips to where nursery is, and it's 20mins pacing each way so although that's a lot of time not doing anything constructive it's exercise at least!

bloss and anyone else interested, the christmas cake recipe is on the christmas cake thread in food

TheGoddessBlossom · 09/09/2008 11:04

thanks Flick.

I lost 4 pounds last week, merely by eating zero crap in the evenings. No biscuits, choc etc. Cereal for brekkie, bagel and yoghurt for lunch, whatever DH havng for tea. Snacks are fruit. NOTHING else. Very boring but it works for me. And can drink wine....

Solicitor just rang and it appears the company that made me redundant have agreed to pay me my commission they owe me! Won't hold my breath till I actually have it but very pleased!!

thefortbuilder · 09/09/2008 11:28

that will be good bloss when it comes through.

yes i must start eating a bit better - dh suggested curry takeout for dinner on sunday and miss no will power here caved within about 10 seconds. that and a bottle of wine between us.....
