Spin -lol, have 'been there, done that' with the new Thomas theme - that is my special tactic for keeping him awake in the car on the way home from places - have been known to sing it all the way through at least 10 times

thefortbuilder · 03/09/2008 13:23

cb have you got the thomas tunes book from elc???? it's jacob's very very very favourite thing - music book he shouts.

well accidents galore this morning and then one at nursery on his own not getting there in time and then one when he said he was finished and hadn't really....but he did use the toilets there as well even for pooing which is great (none of his dad's hang ups then...) and apparently had a great time and is going 9-1230 tomorrow!

had first order from my website so v pleased about that

am managing (just) to stay dry till thursdays and we are cutting down what we drink on saturdays and sundays so getting better.

I can't forget any of the engines as Josh knows which order they come in and says the name of the engine before I do!!

Flick - he has a couple of Thomas tune books, is it the 'tap along' one that also has a circle of coloured lights which make noises aswell? He has that one which someone bought for his birthday plus one with a microphone which plays tunes and you can speak into the microphone. Both have the theme tune on it and within seconds Josh had worked out which engine to press to get the theme tune (including the fact that you have to press Percy three times to get the theme tune back round) - the lad is obsessed

TheGoddessBlossom · 03/09/2008 14:22

I have to say that both my boys have never expressed the slightest interest in Thomas. And I must say I am releived, as if I do have to have Kid's TV on in the background I'd rather have Lazytown/Fifi/Ben 10/Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on anytime over Thomas. It's so boooooooooooring.......

Congratulations on your first order Flick! How exciting. Glad to see you are "making a fist of it" !

Spin, I concur, men are numbnuts about booze, fact. I could and do happily make a bottle last 5 days. But don't as DH gets hold of it. Pixel I am like you, once I have eaten I don't drink anymore. It's exactly the feeling that Spin describes, switch off, duty done, etc.

Going for a meeting/interview with the company that bought the one I used to work for before I had Toby next Wednesday. Got high hopes, as they know I want to work part time and the guy has already said he think's I'd be an asset to his team! So that's a good start...

Just made a banana bread and it is sunken in the middle and tastes horrible! Don't even think the boys will eat it...will offer it anyway after I pick them up...

thefortbuilder · 03/09/2008 14:27

blos what recipe do you use? i've never made it and need one...

i'm a bit on the other way when it comes to booze - i'll happily start with one glass whilst eating but if i know there's some still in the bottle i'll just have a couple more glasses...so best for me to stay dry for most of the week and then be ok with having a few glasses on a thursday night.

that said all this talk of it is making me think it's a good idea tonight!

Hello ladies!
Well, after last night, I'm off the booze for a MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DH surprised me with a babysitter, and so we went for a pint and a curry. I must have drank the beer too fast or something, cos i was pissed really fast. Anyway that made him say that I could never give it up, and I drink too much (although it's the same as him ) and I would never last...
So I challenged him to not drink until his birthday which is 6th Oct.
Now I know that was stupid, and I was drunk, but hey, a challenge is a challenge!

He also said it was very selfish of me to drink red wine! Cos he doesn't like it (I've only just discovered how lush it is!!), it's selfish of me cos he has to either drink BEER, so he'll get FATTER than me, or drink a WHOLE bottle of white wine all by himself...
I dunno where he gets his reasoning from. He's also miffed cos it costs more in a pub.
SO let's see who's skinny and rich in a month's time eh?
(Chances are it won't be me...)

Anyway, other than that it was a delightful evening!

Not much Thomas love here, either, at the moment it's Little Einsteins, Peppa Pig (STILL!), Mickey Mouse, and probably anything at all you'd have on...

Bloss, exciting news on the job-front!! I think he's right, you ARE an asset!! Very nice boots too.

CB, Roary the Racing Car also a favourite.

Must go girls, I have a little tiny bit of work coming in!! What?

x

Annieannieannie, [shakes head ruefully] school girl error my friend! Rather you than me. We tried a month off, DH managed it, I got to week 2.

HumphreysCorner · 04/09/2008 10:31

Oh Annie, couldn't do it myself. Would get the jitters.

Fingers cross Bloss.

Took Emma to school today and she was fine. Sophie seems OK too without her.

Big wave.

Hello ladies!

Well today is the beginning of the end of the booze! DH insisted on drinking the champagne last night (we never got round to it after the curry on the actual night!) so that just proves my point, HE is the one that makes ME drink. I was quite happy to resist. Didn't even enjoy it that much, I felt like it was forced on me, and it was twinged with guilt. However, starting today, that's it for me. I expect to lose loads of weight, CB, I lost loads when pg!! All down to the booze. Not really an option though now.
I expect I will have the jitters by Sunday though...

Have spent all morning sorting toys out - I'm missing a Little People Turtle AAAAAaaagh! But I still have a huge box to get through... Feel like packing everything up and then just letting one out at a time...

Spin, LOL at my mozzies packing their bags! I wish... All I had to do was take someone to a restricted area to ask for access. Easy really!

Mimi slept crap last night. Although she stayed put in the bed, she must have woke around 4 times, and a few times I found myself waking up freezing on the floor next to her... Oh well.

Gosh I do ramble on don't I about sod-all, sorry girls!

Back to the crayons. [groan]

annie i just felt i had to ignore your booze abstinence idea for fear it was a terrible dream although yes cb i gave up both times round, not a drop for well over 7 months each time! (remember both my boys were early!)

nothing else to report here - jacob doing fine at nursery, went and bought rain slickers for them both today and got £25 off in petit bateau - a great result given how blardy expensive it is in there.

au pair less for a week starting sunday - cue irritated flick household next week!!! sounds awful but at least jacob is at nursery so his time is taken for a bit of the week...

i've managed to get through so far with no booze this week, although i bought a case at majestic today - does that count??? so may crack open a bottle of white tonight - not sure if i fancy red - sorry annie are you sure you want to do this???

TheGoddessBlossom · 04/09/2008 17:49

we are all alkies - DH has just brought home bottle of white at my insistence.

Had a busy day today, went to a friends hosue this morning to do her hair and nails for a wedding, our boys all played together. Then straight off to Fizzy Kids with two other friends. Got home at 4.

So T has had a grand total of 20 minutes sleep and boy can you tell. What a whinge bag, doesn't know WHAT he wants. I know what I want - him to go to bed ASAP, so off to do bath time now.

xx

PixelHerder · 04/09/2008 17:59

Annie ? nooooooooo!!!!!!! Sorry, that wasn?t very encouraging was it Okay ? encouraging thoughts? if you?re anything like me you would certainly lose weight, plus you?ll save money (unless you buy loads of expensive chocolate to compensate of course, as I would?) Good luck though ? now you just have to find ways of getting your DH to crack before you do. (Oh and incidentally re the red wine whinge, you could mention to him that white wine in boxes neatly gets around the bottle problem, and is so handy being on tap in the fridge )

Flick ? great that Jacob?s settled in nursery, it?s a worrying time isn?t it. I?ve got to do the raincoat thing too soon I guess (bloody weather). Good luck with the Baby Show, when is it?

Hang in there with work Ceebee, keep on slipping in the odd bit of MNing to get you through the day

Agalch ? sorry to hear you?re not well Hope you can get it sorted soon and on to a quick recovery. Wow re Elidh?s hair ? it sounds stunning!

Emma went through a brief Thomas obsession a few weeks back, she?s decided she?s so over him now though! Latest obsession is Andy Pandy but still loves Peppa and (yawn) Barnaby fecking Bear. (I try to keep her Bananas in Pyjamas DVD?s well hidden though Spin )

Good luck keeping dry now girls (in both senses for some of us!) ? feckin? weather?

PixelHerder · 04/09/2008 18:08

Bloss - Emma has just done a big round of whinge bagging too, v wearing. Have sent her out in the garden to cool down with daddy, ha. (DH being out of work has some compensations)

HumphreysCorner · 04/09/2008 19:01

Crikey, picked Emma up from school and she was in a foul mood. They were fed, bathed and in bed by 6pm.

Big Wave
