Hello Girls.

Got Mimi's feet measured today (well, DH did, I'm at working of course, slaving hard), and she's a 6E.
Had an excellent night on Monday, she slept through from 8.30am til 5am!! I think that's the best ever!! But then last night she woke as usual about three times. She's more or less stopped the milk too, and hasn't asked for her bottle since Monday I don't think. She has also abandoned her Teddy Bear though, and positively chucks Tigger out too!!
And the whining... not so much during the day (though yes, she does sometimes) but at night, when she 'wakes', she keeps her eyes closed and just whinges and moans and it's like there's nothing I can do...

And Joey's favourite word at the moment is 'NO!'.
Do you want a drink? NO!
Do you need a wee? NO!
Eat your pasta please. NO!

and 'NOFING' is a close second...

He did, however, do a wee at nursery today! I asked them to ask him if he needed to go, and when she did, he did! And he got a star! So maybe, just maybe...
He also claimed he didn't want to wear a Yappy anymore yesterday (though we made him wear one to bed) so perhaps...

Bloss, sounds like you will get lucky on the potty training, when you do actually 'do' it!

Flick, I can't believe Sam is starting solids already! It seems like he's only just been born!! Your menu sounds delish (for the dinner party that is, not for Sam!), and I'm there with Bloss, my kinda dinner party! Get you with your wine cellar! Reminds me of my friend we visited the other week, he doesn't have a wine cellar, but has so many bottles of champagne hanging around, we just had to drink some...

And CB, how's your bump? How many days left at work now? Must be nice to see an end it sight...

Spin, I'm sure Roshi isn't like that ALL the time!! But I do know the feeling... [yawns]...

Rhinestone? How's your liddle bump doing??

HC, I'm still waiting for your mouse story!? Hope you're ok.

Right so, better get on with it...

Love to everyone else too

thefortbuilder · 24/09/2008 14:48

annie it's just our cellar that is the existing one under the front path - the old coal vault - nothing more fancy than that!

am now onto planning the menu for my birthday dinner party at start of november - think am giong to fillet of beef in a sort of beef bourginon sauce but you cook the fillet as a whole and then cut it into steaks at the end - it ends up being pretty perfectly cooked and stays really tender. that and mash and probably some fiddly starter - and jsut lots of cheese for dessert i think. and my vegetarian friend will be wowed with a sort of upside down aubergine thing i'm going to try!

just ordered jacob some new shoes in size 23 and 24 as he's going to grow out of them over the winter and no one stocks them unless it's summer.

Evening all - I can always tell when I have been slacking and not posting on here as it drops off my 'Threads I'm On'

Flick - your dinner parties sound divine - my mouth is watering just reading the menus you are creating! And I totally echo Annie in that I can't believe Sam is starting solids already - god time just flies by doesn't it?

I have a whinger here aswell - and it is SO frustrating. He will just say no in a really whiny tone and throw his head back to everything you offer (sometimes I think he doesn't know what he wants ) - his favourite phrase at the moment is 'not like it' to whatever (food, clothes etc) Although it is quite funny that he will say 'not like it' to a plate of food, have some and then say 'do like it'

Bump is fine - I feel a bit like I am treading water at the moment as 40 weeks seems an age away. I finish work 4 weeks on Friday (although the last 3 weeks, I am only doing 2 days a week so really I only have 1 proper week left ). I have so much to do, like sort the drawers out in the nursery, sort Josh's clothes out but I just can't do them whilst he is around so I have to wait until I am on mat leave and he is at nursery - it is so frustrating as I am itching to get things sorted (I guess that is my 'nesting' instinct coming out - some people want to clean, I want to sort out clothes )

We are eventually going away this weekend - have had no holiday this year so even 2 nights in a hotel is a treat! Have booked a room with a sofa bed for Josh, rather than a travel cot - so it should be fun as it will be his first night's sleep without bars

Josh has also become a bit of a whizz at jigsaws these last couple of weeks. He has a '4 jigsaws in a box' Thomas set which is for 3+ and he does it without even thinking - he even told DH that there was a piece missing from one of them when he still had 6 or 7 pieces left to put in. He also found a piece in the wrong pile (we do have to sort the pieces into 4 piles for him) and gave it to DH saying 'not this one'

Sorry this post is all 'me me me' but I can't remember what everyone has posted - I do read it at least once a day but don't seem to have the time to post messages back. Once I am on mat leave, I will have all the time in the world of course

HC i would be so frustrated!
not much to say this morning except jacob slept in his own bed till 530 which was an improvement, but then was awake....
o'h and dh is being a right PITA at the moment - everything, absolutely everything is my fault mainly because i am so bad tempered

anyway, just getting on with stuff here and hoping to goodness that our au pair turns up this afternoon - just have a really bad feeling about it

Day 2 of potty training. No accidents so far this morning but it is only 8.30,..

Went to a friends' house last night, to watch SATC in their cinema room , we all had to wear LBDs and heels, 10 of us, was really good fun, drank cosmopolitans and blush wine. Don't feel too bad this morning considering. Having a pyjama morning. Lovely not to have to be anywhere.

HumphreysCorner · 26/09/2008 13:32

Oh spin-bottoms to your rubbish day. Good news about Roshi.

Bloss-putting me to shame as not attempting potty training until the New Year. Hope it goes well. Need a different tactic as when I started Emma at 2.5 she just didn't get it and did wees all over the house. Put pants on her then and she pooed and did wees in them. Nightmare!

Annie-re the mouse incident. Marmalade turned up with said mouse in his mouth, I made him drop it. Picked it up and took it into the front garden in an attempt to put it in the fields across the road so Marmalade lost the scent. Mouse came back to full strength and jumped onto the grass, I tried to pick it up again and it bit me. Later when cutting the grass I found it curled up fast asleep in the grass so nearly mowed it over. Shooed it away and it ran under the car never to be seen again. Next time I will let Marmalade keep the mouse.

Hope all OK and big wave.

and Roshi Sugar steps up to plate. You go girlfriend.

Still no accidents. Even being left with GPs this morning. Have to fight to get a nappy on him at sleep time.

Flick - sorry you are feeling so down. Big hugs to you honey.

xxxx

HumphreysCorner · 27/09/2008 21:29

flick-big hugs coming your way. {{xx}}

Did I mention that the Sophster fell on a cactus at my mum's on Monday night which brought on a mahoosive rash all over her face, ears, arm and tummy where the spines stuck in which has now scabbed over nicely? Doctor prescribed anthistamines. The plant has been thrown out and MIL was horrified that my mum had it in the first place. Been to the circus this afternoon followed by the Pizza Hut-yum, yum.

Have a good weekend and good luck potty trainers.

Look at this godforsaken hour! And I have been up for an hour . We are at a friend's house, stayed over last night, had a great evening, kids went to sleep beautifully, but true to form Toby woke at 5am, woke H up, and I had to bring them down stairs to stop them waking the whole house up! Lucky they have t'internet!

DH came to bed after me, totally plastered, and looks like he failed to find our bedroom as he was in with the kids.... He was talking scribble when I went to bed so god knows what he was blathering on about after. He's going to be fun today, not....He PROMISED to take H fishing today so he'd better come good on that.....

TheGoddessBlossom · 28/09/2008 06:00

Ouch HC that sounds really nasty, poor Sophie!

Hello again!

I might pop along a bit more, see how you are all fairing in this wonderful, happy fun, exciting, challenging time of 2 and a bit!

DD is just the best, but when she is tired, or hungry, or bored, or if I am ill, she is well, IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!

But, would not have her any other way.

Might see how you all deal with the impossible though!!! .

Beadmum · 28/09/2008 23:00

hi everyone, just checking in.

bloss - well done toby on potty training, have been putting charlotte on at nappy changes to try and introduce it but may just try pants and see how she goes.

flick - big (((hugs)))

hc - poor sophie, hope she is better

spin - that is exactly what i would do, i will think of your story when i put on those pants

all fine here, morning sickness is coming and going so much better than last time or maybe looking after a toddler makes it more bearable as ive no time to stop and feel sorry for myself got my scan date through, just over 2 weeks away, cant wait as want to tell friends but decided to wait until after scan, going to tell my mum when she is down visiting next week as dont want to do it over the phone.

Anyway off to bed, goodnight xx

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 29/09/2008 10:59

Morning girls.

It's the last week! Only five more days and I can have a drink! Woo hoo! I'll probably fall down after the first one and get in a right mood, but we'll see!

Well done to Tobes and Roshi on the potty training! It's ongoing in our house too, but it's still going to be years before Joey 'gets' it. He knows what to do, but just won't stop what he's doing to do it. Occasionally he will, but it's like once a day, six in his pants. Mimi also insists on wearing pants, but just widdles everywhere. Each time is a complete surprise to her...
Cadbury's are going to pull a record profit this year I tell you.

HC, that's mad with the mouse! How thoughtful of you to try and save him!! Little shit though. Gratitude eh? Hope Sophie is better, that sounds like a right dose!

Bloss at 5am start! 6am is usual for us (well, after 2am, 3am, 4am...) and I just can't function at that time, I wouldn't be able to see the computer, let alone turn it on and log on and TYPE... On the mornings when it's DH's turn to get up (depending on which side of the bed Mimi goes to) it's just lovely to roll over and have the whole bed to myself! Well for about 10 minutes.
Sometime in the night last night Mimi got out of her bed, gathered up Bear and Tigger, shuffled round her room, wandered out into the hallway and just stood there for a few minutes, waiting... for what, who knows. It was very cute though! Got her back to bed with a little milk.
It was still dark this morning though at 6am. I hates that...

Spin, good news on Roshi's tests. Looks like she's in the clear?! Phew!

Looks like Mimi's daytime nap is gone gone gone. Unless we go out in the car or pram. The other night she literally fell asleep 6.30 ish eating her dinner. The head dropped onto her plate, wobbled, and I only just stopped her from getting a faceful of sauce.

Better go girls. This was meant to be a short one...

HumphreysCorner · 29/09/2008 12:49

Annie-5 days to go. Wowser! Jolly well done there.

Am feeling grot today with a sore throat, blocked ears and achey. Not going to WW tonight-good job as we went to the circus on Saturday afternoon followed by the Pizza Hut therefore much heavier today.

Throttled Emma this morning as it is photograph day at school and just as we were going out of the door she came out of her bedroom with felt tip all over her polo shirt. Was livid!

Really need to lay my head down but Sophie is very lively today.

Big wave.

not much to report here thanks for the hugs ladies though.

jacob was a bit of a nightmare this weekend and dh pretty much lost it with him on sunday early evening when he took jacob up to the loo and jacob instead of pointing his willy down pulled it up and sprayed pee all over the toilet seat, the floor and.......dh - i heard "YOU LITTLE...YES YOU SHOULD BE UPSET...JUST WAIT FOR YOUR MOTHER TO COME UP HERE...NO DON'T FOLLOW ME...STAY HERE AND WAIT FOR HER".....jacob in floods of tears, dh shaking he was so angry....and he's the one that tells me not to shout at jacob anyway, that was the low point of the weekend and i did pretty much tell dh that if he was going to be like that he could stay here and not come on holiday.

and i should really be either working or napping as both boys are now asleep.

new au pair lovely and seems to be working out well.

well done roshi for asking!!!

much better day today - and sam is taking to food like no tomorrow - 100g for breakfast and the same for dinner - it used to take 3 days to get that amount into jacob.

both boys much more settled today although apparently jacob a bit clingy and overtired at nursery - i think he's got molars coming through though

not much else to say except hope you're all ok!
