Bloss - congratulations!! Fantastic and what a bonus, being based from home

Flick - no wonder you had a rant - some people are so convinced their way is the correct way, that they can't see that it doesn't work for everyone else. I am a firm believer that some babies are good sleepers and some babies are not and some are in the middle and it is luck of the draw which you get - obviously there are some things that you can do to help but you can't cure a 'bad' sleeper by following a book fgs!! Josh has been the most fantastic sleeper from day 1 - but that is not down to me and DH and our actions, not down to a book - purely because he is a good sleeper! I can honestly see why you got so mad as look at my rant and I don't even know these women

thefortbuilder · 18/09/2008 14:13

bloss sorry in my rant i missed your news CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

yes i'm waiting to be flamed from the other thread! as it happens sam is a much better sleeper thank jacob but he is bigger and doesn't need so much food inthe night. saying that he's up there wailing so must go and get him poor little man

thanks for all the congrats ladies, youre all so lovely. edd is 5th may by my counting, went to docs yesterday so just to wait for scan appt to come through, im approx 7 weeks just now.

spin - thankfully not a july baby, however we have never had the temperatures of july 2006 again which we'll all remember too well

bloss - congrats on you job, well done you

hc - agree that woman sounds mad, glad you just trying to forget

flick - what nonsense, no baby is the same and completely agree they all fall into their own routines for everything, if only babies were textbooks as many hv's think they are but then wouldnt life be boring. Good you had your say and rant away

dh should be on his way back with pizza so best be off, good night xx

PixelHerder · 18/09/2008 22:32

Hi girls

Beadmum - wow congrats!!! So pleased for you - 7 weeks awwwwwww Your holiday sounds great, lo #2's already well-travelled then!

Bloss - fab news re the job, you are a fount of talent! Well done!!

Flick - grrrr, ignore 'em, they'll learn the hard way - then they'll be begging you for advice

HC - well done for drawing a big line under mad woman, hopefully her delinquent DS will scooter face-first into a big pile of shite before long

Kbaby - well done on going for the course, your cakes are fab!!

Annie - glad Mimi and Joey are doing fine at nursery as well as bedtime, result! Emma's not a nursery 'joiner inner' either, she just looks at people as if they are mad when they try to lead group sing-songs and the like. She's fine at dancing around like a loon at home though Well done on the abstinence, couldn't do it myself so am full of admiration.

All fine here but have been a bit preoccupied with finding out about ttc - who knew there was so much to it (obv have been spending much more time on the internet than actually doing the deed )

Emma can now count to 10 - actually I think she's been able to for a while (her wall-to-wall Cbeebies regime finally came up trumps then ) but she's been muttering it quietly under her breath so no one notices, it took me a while to figure out that's what she was saying, bless her.

I won't go on or this will be a monstrous post - hi to Agalch, Spin, Impy, Ceebee, Rhinestone and anyone else I've forgotten

xxx

Morning ladeez,

Bloss, congrats on the job, it sounds just ideal! Well done you.

HC, sorry you were so upset by Stupid Woman and Son, I think I would have been too - how dare some people think they have a right to speak to you like that. You handled it well though, and good for you drawing a line under it!

Spin, of the champagne glasses! But not the tantrum!!

Flick, I can see your point completely, but in my experience you should always follow the books to the letter and baby will sleep perfectly from day one. And I should know.

Pixel, LOL at Emma dancing like a loon at home! I so know what you mean!! At the moment it's kangaroo hopping rather than dancing though... Good luck with the TTC! My only advice is to try and relax about it, you too HC, but hey, whaddoo I know.

Rubbish night of sleep last night, Mimi was up for HOURS screaming. the only thing that calmed her was taking her into the living room to look out at the moon, the 'fluffy moon', but as soon as we went back to bed it was scream city again. Eventually calmed her down, and left her putting cream on her hands herself 'I do it Mammy', and crawled into bed, expecting to be called back momentarily, then when I heard 'Maaaaaa-meeeeee', I actually burst into tears!? WTF?? No idea why, though me and DH had had a bit of a barney about how I shout at her earlier and I was probably still brooding on that. Luckily DH took over then, and I think he was up for the rest of the night with her.

Took Joey for his pre-school jabs yesterday and he was soooooo brave! He didn't cry or anything, and afterwards wanted to go back to the waiting room to finish reading the story we had started!!
Later in the evening, DH went to put camomile lotion on his arm, it was a bit itchy, and J flinched, as if he were expecting another jab, but now he knows only the nurse does it. My big brave boy!

Still off the booze (it's Friday!) though DH was moaning about it today, he wants a pint! Well he can have one, I'm not. Two more weeks! Finally beginning to imagine I'm losing a tiny bit of the pg belly, but it may be all in my head.

Best go girls. Toodles

Spin- I soooo wish it was that hot here. Weve reached the dizzy heights of 19c today.

DS seems to have settled into nursery now although he is still only going for their suggested 2hrs which is convienient for them when im having to pay for 4hrs! Going to wait until wednesday and then tell them he'll have to go for 4hrs.

Congrats Beadmum on your news and Bloss on your new job.

I believe that each child is a differnt sleeper. DD was a nightmare sleeper until 2yrs old and no book or controlled crying changed that( I know as I have 5 sleep books because I was convinced something would work)
DS on the other hand wasnt a great sleeper either but in different ways luckily controlled crying seemed to work for him. Each child is different.

Bloss- Im with you on one child beaing easier although it doesnt feel like it at the time. I love my times alone with only 1 of them. I can actually talk to one without having the other rabbitting away. Plus you dont have to seperate any fights.

TheGoddessBlossom · 21/09/2008 18:41

well I am babysitting tonight and they have broadband thank god so looks like that's me on MN all evening! Apart from during Tess of the D'urbervilles obviously! And notsurehomuchi'llbepostingastheirspacebardoesn'tseemtoworkverywell!!

Had a good weekend, was very hungover all day yesterday after dinner at friends'. went to bed at 8.50pm last night!! Went to the market this morning, the weather was amazing today, and went to the park this afternoon, DH taught H toride without his stabilisers which was so exciting!!!

About to press BUY on a pair of UGG boots and an ipod Nano.Going back to work does have a few compensations!!

Back later no doubt- am about to attempt solo bed time of my two charges, should be interesting....

aGalChangedHerName · 21/09/2008 18:51

Evening all

Had a great day, went for shopping/lunch with 2 mnetters i am friends with.

DD2 was sick yesterday (only once) think it was chocolate overload and dd1 very feverish and "ill" looking. Oh joy,she will prob not be at nursery tomorrow.

DH has booked a table at out fabby Indian for us for Xmas day. I texted my mum last night to say how much it is and left her to decide if she wants to book up too. We are obv hoping she doesn't. If they do want to come (with my db) i will be telling them they are paying for their own and also that db's new tart GF is not welcome!!

Feels great to be deciding for ourselves at long last lol

Hope they go to bed with no carry on Bloss!!

HumphreysCorner · 22/09/2008 09:39

agalch-only seems like yesterday that you were planning last Christmas Day's meal. Hope this is a success and nobody ruins it for you.

Bought some shoes for Sophie last week and she is now a 4 1/2 G so grown lots. Also bought 2 HumphreysCorner outfits in size....................................12-18 months. My little dot.

Was bitten by a mouse yesterday-phoned NHS Direct and am still alive at the moment.

After 2 lovely warm days of solid gardening am knackered and today it is raining. Saw the mother of the scooter boy at school and didn't nearly pass out with nerves this morning like I did on Friday when I saw her. She was stood 10cm away from me as the boy's peg is 2 along from Emma's. Bloss, spin, flick, kbaby, agalch, ceebee et all-I need some of your strength to deal with these situations. Am a total wuss!

Have a good day ladies. Hope it's a good one!

good dinner party on saturday night - will tell you all about it later, got to wake jacob up to go to nursery now....hmm should be a joy as he turned into tantrum boy this weekend. dh nearly lost it and nearly smacked him

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 22/09/2008 14:15

Morning ladies!!

Good weekend, but hardly any sleep. I feel alright though! Lots of Mimi waking, and just moaning and whinging, not actually awake properly. Couldn't even do anything, she didn't want milk (yaay!), if I cuddled her, she'd kick or push me away... no idea. Must be dreaming. And the fairies came to take her bottle away, so she hasn't had a bottle for two days, but a Pink Fairy Cup. She has had a little at night, but by morning it's gone again.
Toilet training is still on-going... we have to keep changing strategy, stickers one day, bored of them, chocolate buttons the next, bored of them, set an alarm for wee-wee time, bored of that...Has anyone ever grown up still wearing nappies? Cos that's what Joey is going to do. He knows how to, just won't... [sigh]

Had a dilemma on Friday eveing - a colleague decided to provide a load of beers and wine for her birthday, so I had to just sit there politely and say Why I wasn't drinking. I think she was quite disappointed in me...

HC, how on earth did you get bitten by a mouse?!?! Sophie is so diddy!!

Can't think of anything else at the mo!
Laters!

thefortbuilder · 22/09/2008 15:55

well done on not giving in though annie! I have so much respect for you not doing it for a month

so the dinner party on saturday night (sorry annie in advance) was to drink a 1993 magnum of st emilion wine we bought on a holiday there a few years ago. basically i've been going through all the wine in the cellar checking if it's to be drunk or kept, and turns out this needed to be drunk pretty much straight away. so had another couple over, and the menu went like this:

cod cheek (yes you read correctly!) risotto with pan fried scallops on the top

double thickness lamb cutlets roasted with steamed new potatoes carrots and sprouting broccoli, with lamb gravy (gravy went a bit wrong and was a bit thick)

cheese

and we got through the magnum and 4 other bottles of wine, and there were only four of us but strangely enough i wasn't hung over the next day

anyway, not much else to say except we finally managed to get jacob's hair cut on the way to nursery today.

TheGoddessBlossom · 22/09/2008 19:30

can I come next time Flick! Sounds like my kind of a dinner party

Annegirl you rock, so proud of you.

Spin, I too am a total cow. I am a GREAT friend (even if I say so myself) but I can be a total bitch if I put my mind to it. But you do have to really piss me off for that to happen....

Squash today, 2-2 so feel ok about that. It was great fun, we are getting good!

Have to send prospective boss an email now asking for particular accounts to own. Yawn. Perhaps should have done this before wine intake....

thefortbuilder · 22/09/2008 21:17

just make sure you preview the email bloss

Flick, Toby is juuuuuust coming out of a CAPTAIN WHINGE stage. It lasted a good month maybe more.

Potty training has kind of taken over in this house despite my concerted efforts to not do it yet. Toby wanders around naked on his lower half all the time we are at home, and says "Mummy I want a wee in the potty" and proceeds to sit down and do one! I am ruining it by putting nappies on him when we go out, which goes against my own potty training beliefs, but as no-one actually consulted me if we were even doing it yet I am being stubborn!!! He's doing it by himself. Little monkey. I wonder if I say "I do NOT want you to become a proffessional football player and earn millions of pounds, and whatever you do do NOT buy me a house and jewels and clothes galore" it will have the same effect???

thefortbuilder · 23/09/2008 19:32

o'h god o'h god o'h god jacob is just testing me at the moment. we have the radio on when we are getting sorted out upstairs before bed, and both boys love it. but.....this evening when we turned the radio off when sam was having the last of his feed and being settled i had "music on" whined and winged at me with tears constantly until i had put sam in his cot. i mean FFS just stop whining at me

sorry had to get that off my chest.

all else fine here - jacob shattered and not feeling very well which i know is what all the whining is about which makes me feel even worse for not being sympathetic , sam eating well already - apple and banana for breakfast and dinner today and he's probably eaten about 80g in total! most at dinner which is great. jacob was really slow to start picking up the amounts.

not much else to say really - crap weather here today hope it picks up a bit for the rest of the week
