ps - wilkie - shit/easy job for now. get all the perks you can and have another baby. Then reassess career after number 2/3/4 have come along. If you go for a career job now, you may end up getting overly stressed which could affect when you get pregnant and how you deal with J.
When I have had (IF) another baby, then obviously I will be Miss Career Woman again! - not sure if I still fit into my power suits though!

Wilkiepedia · 17/09/2008 20:17

Thanks girls - sound advice as always and you are of course right. I just feel like I have taken a massive step backwards in terms of career at the moment and it is taking a bit of adjusting to IYKWIM. I am used to having quite a demanding, well respected job and I am just one of the minions (sp?) ATM.

Lizz - I stick with what I said. The woman is obv a friggin' weirdo so I would suss her out a bit more before broaching. You could maybe drop some lighthearted hints i.e. 'Stop there, too much information thank you!' or 'ew gross don't want to know, Ive just had my breakfast'. Very odd.

Mmmm Lizz she sounds lovely. Just your normal everyday conversation then

Wilkie is the job a secondment and when wouold it start? I'm going against consensus here and I'd go for it personally if it was a secondment rather than a 'new' job. Only you know when youo're going to start trying for #2 and how long you reckon it'll take you to fall pg. I feel strongly that you can have both a reasonable job and take maternity leave, but maybe I'm just one of the fortunate ones. Maternity laws are on your side to try to halp you have both an ok career and a mother.

Katw3kitts · 18/09/2008 09:11

Hmm. I'm with Reggiee on this.

Reggiee · 18/09/2008 18:15

Lizz have you got another tip of the day or is someone impersonating you?

Dragonhart · 18/09/2008 22:21

Wilkie- I would go for the baby. As Rgee said , you never know how long it might take to get preg so if you put it off, then it takes longer than you think, then the age gap between them could be larger than you think or want.

Lizz- I wouldnt say anything. But then I am not good with confronting people like that. Maybe she is just nervous. I hate it when people talk about really personal things when you dont know them though. Makes me squirm. I also hate people who talk to you on buses, trains or planes. My nan does it. She is always talking to weirdos when she is out!

£5 or £10 is fine with me.

Oh and you are all obsessed with Irons! I hate all irons, ironing boards, and ironing. I am a big fan of the tumbledry and fold technique.

Lizzzombie · 19/09/2008 07:57

Rgee - what are you talking about tips? I don't understand!

Reggiee · 19/09/2008 10:47

tHE TIP OF THE DAY YESTERDAY AS FROM 'lIZZ'. WONDERED IF IT WAS YOU (oops shouting)

Reggiee · 19/09/2008 10:49

Had a fun morning so far involving taking the cats to the vets for minor ops. DH opened the door to go to the car, and a cat escaped after keeping them lockedin overnight with no food. Much amusement trying to catch him whilst shaking a box of cat biscuits.

Lizzzombie · 19/09/2008 12:26

Ooh no, not me! There seem to be quite alot of Lizz'z on here though. I keep waiting for some inane thread about "someone stole my MN name" to pop up about it!

Poor cats. And both at once?

I've had the morning from hell. We had a 'party' here from 4-5am until I got fed up and plonked him back in his cot where he fell asleep until 7.30am. Went to playgroup this morning and whilst waiting for them to open (it gets mega busy so you have to queue to get in) DJ threw a MASSIVE tantrum infront of all the other babies and mothers. I was sooooo embarrassed. He has no shame and was basically banging on the door screaming "open, open, open" Y'know...when you just want the ground to swallow you up!
He has just gone down for a (hopefully very long) nap now and I have a million things to do. Unfortunately they don't include curling up and going to sleep!
Laters xxx

ps - LTH - Am going to Polegate carboot sale on Sunday morning...!

DP will be picking one up from Hove tomorrow, heavens knows where we'll keep it until xmas! I am sooooooo chuffed x

eandh · 20/09/2008 15:51

I have packed and unpacked and repacked we seem to have so much stuff for 4 days, doesnt help that we don't know what the weather will be like so have short sleeve tshirts, jeans and some skirts and short t's etc.

Girls at mum and dads till 6.30, they are having a roast and then come home after bath time so enjoying my few hours of peace (DH at work)

Reggiee · 20/09/2008 18:40

EaH have a fab time. Have you worked out how you're telling E?

Yawn to Ryder Cup.....

eandh · 20/09/2008 19:13

We don't go to Monday but am at Christening tomorrow so busy all day!

E knows we are going on a train to France (been proacticing sating Bonjour, J'Mappelle Ellie and Sil vous plait and merci beaucoup!!) but thinks we are coming home Monday night. We've decided to give her the brochure and the minnie mouse ears Laughalot sent her and then mention that we are off to meet the princesses - cue hysterical screaming!!

They've just come home and are full of it so doesnt look like we'll be doing a late bedtime (ordered chinese so they can have some) and then going to relook at the case again

I have banned ryder cup from lounge TV he can watch it in bedroom, kitchen or playroom!!

Reggiee · 21/09/2008 19:56

Hope you had a lovely day today Eah, and have a fun week. Look forward to hearing all about it.

Vino keep meaning to ask how your dh is re work.

Ryder cup bore and no-one here all weekend to keep me entertained.

2Happy · 21/09/2008 20:31

Have a great holiday eah
PCF hope the sickness improves soon
Reg lol, did you catch the cat; clever thing, must've known where you were taking it!!

Reggiee · 21/09/2008 20:38

Hiya 2H. There is life after all
Yeah dh caught the cat through means of cat biscuits smell. Ha ha. Both cats had teeth out. First op in 8 years and I can't believe dentistry isn't covered by my pet insurance as it is 'preventable'. Yes, I oftn brush my cats teeth . Bye bye £400 squid.

2Happy · 21/09/2008 20:42

£400? Ouch! On shakey ground though if I start talking about how much vets charge

I had a dog who had terrible tooth problems, and was given special doggy toothbrush and toothpaste. But blimey, can NOT imagine pinning a cat down long enough to brush its teeth. Certainly can't imagine managing it more than once!! ....dh says Hill's (and probably other companies) make a "TD" diet for teeth, definitely for dogs, and he thinks for cats too. (No doubt your own vet will already have fleeced you for suggested that already!)

eandh · 21/09/2008 20:53

Evening

Rgee at the vets bill!!

2happy -

Christening was lovely, our godchildren were there as it was their weekend with their Dad so Ellie loved playing with Goddaughter (same age) and our Godson is 6 and occupied Hattie all afternoon (which was great apart from the fact she didnt nap so was in bed very early tonight)

Everyone laughing at Hattie as she was constantly hanging around by the buffet

laughalot · 21/09/2008 20:54

Just a quick post eah have a fab time ill miss our daily texts xxxxxxxxxxx

eandh · 21/09/2008 21:04

daily more like hourly texts (don't worry you'll get at least one text a day )

Lizzzombie · 22/09/2008 08:26

Morning!
So I guess eah is on a train somewhere under the channel at the moment!
How exciting. I am really looking forward to when DJ is old enough to go so we have an excuse to take him!
In the meantime - 2 weeks till we go to Alton Towers (without baby!!!)

Am slightly worried as to how my Mum will cope when we are away as he is a total insomniac at the moment. Was up from 11pm-2am last night. And then up properly at 6.30am. I am dead on my feet and have no idea how I will last the rest of the day!

Went to carboot sale yesterday and brought a fab Thomas book. Its a puzzle book, and on each page is a puzzle which tells a story. Not so great doing it in bed at 1am this morning - its now been hidden until I can face it again!

Bleurgh I want to go back to bed so badly!

Hopeyouall had a good weekend. Its been very quiet on here! x

Lizzzombie · 22/09/2008 08:27

weird!

LTH - just watching channel 5 - Thomas & Friends. They appear to be at Wilmington looking at the Long Man. Very surreal!

Wilkiepedia · 22/09/2008 19:29

Have a lovely time EAH

Reggie - ouch ouch ouch at the vet's bill. Wouldn't it have been cheaper to have sent them to cat heaven??

PCF - bleurgh to sickness. Hope I don't get it next time round

Work has improved busy-wise but am stuck in an office with a woman who seriously needs to retire. All she does is pick fault with EVERYTHING I do or say - she is basically waiting until next year to retire - can't come soon enough IMO. On the plus side, have made a really good friend who has a DS of 15mo so that is nice. We met up at the weekend and although J was beating her DS over the head at every opportunity with every toy he could find it was nice

2Happy - think it is time for a new thread!
