too many messages ill have to read back later.

razzle dazzle had 3 wee babies yesterday. they are so cute and surprisingly big for all the size of her. had to put pinkydinkydoo in a different cage as he was trying it on again

GillL · 21/08/2008 10:45

Xmas party plans already Hersetta? At my place they normally leave it til the last minute (literally) to organise our xmas party. Then it ends up as a p**s up in the local chavvy pub or night club with 2 free drinks and a few sandwiches. Then they wonder why hardly anyone turns up. I've never been to a work xmas party here and I've been here 10 years.

I used to get mistaken for at least 5 years younger than I am. When I was 16 I was once asked at school if I was a 1st year. I was mortified! Then once when I had been working in a particular supermarket for 3 years my boss said he thought that I was 16 when I was actually 19. It doesn't tend to happen these days (I'm 30 now). Years of lack of sleep have taken their toll and I'm getting wrinkles and normally have red eyes. Not a good look. I really should wear make up more often but I have enough trouble dragging myself out of bed on time as it is.

Hope everyone's having a good day so far.

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 10:47

we were going to be ttc soon anyway meandmyjoe, but its a happy surprise - dh is happy but disappointed to miss out on all the bding! I am taking a wee bit of time to get used to the idea, as it is a bit of a surprise - but then shouldnt be really - i knew how it worked, so shouldn't have taken a chance if i wasnt happy.

aprilitisthen · 21/08/2008 10:51

me too gill - i'm 26 and sometimes feel i should be trying to be more glamorous so that when i am 45 and look back i can think i at least made an effort but my skin is allergic to loads of things so cant really wear makeup without coming out in a rash.

GillL · 21/08/2008 11:11

Congrats Razzle Dazzle. Love their names BTW. Our next door neighbour has 2 new kittens which she has called Fatty and Mischief.

GillL · 21/08/2008 11:14

I can sympathise with that april. I get really bad skin when I wear makeup too often and I am allergic to perfume

shrinkingsagpuss · 21/08/2008 11:28

Thanks for teh happy birthdays to Evie - she was a miserable grump all day, having not slept, then fell asleep at 11 am, had to wake her to get her out of teh car, and she then refused to go back to sleep!!! She (and Billy) enjoyed opening presents and stuff, and eating cake.

Aprilitisthen...... got to be one of the 2 scots!! congratulations.

got loads of family coming down this w/e - sil and my sister too, plus friends, for a summer party (ha ha ha), dh has told people its a birthday party, ut I didn't want him to, as I don't want people thinking they have to provide presents.

oh.. hang on, evie is eating something. child has a death wish. that and the 5 am starts EVERY morning...... we are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not having any mroe!!

Evie babbles, but she does sign too - she's learned "please", which is used for everything! and now we're working on sleep. she deos hello and bye bye too, and nods her head for yes, and shakes it for no.

meandmyjoe · 21/08/2008 11:56

Wohooo! Joseph slept from 7pm to 7am this morning, not often he sleeps past 5:30 so I just wanted to celebrate!

I'll catch up later.

leifmum · 21/08/2008 12:38

hello all! dd has finally gone down for a nap, only 3 hours later than normal! she's very trying today but mostly my fault a very bad pmt. had the worst period pains ever yesterday evening, not like me at all but seems much better today. bit odd.

my excitement at our weekend away has been tarnished as in-laws are very annoyed that we haven't asked them to look after dd. i could easily start ranting but i'm going to restrain myself. suffice to say they have totally overreacted and are now not talking to us and have told dh not to go up and see them with dd next week, they're too angry and heartbroken. its a frustrating situation.

my heart goes out to those of you with early risers. i really would not be able to cope with that! and i can't believe how well some of the little ones are communicating!

went for a nice walk and picnic yesterday but today our activity is asda and maybe aldi if it's not raining!

congrats to new mum razzle dazzle!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 21/08/2008 15:22

Gah, too many messages! I'll have to get out my notepad or I'll forget everything.

hersetta, glad the new job is going ok. Caitlin sounds like a right little chatterbox!

Leifmum, your surf trip sounds exciting! I find my period pains and pmt have got worse since having a baby, felt like crap the other day. Oh fgs at your inlaws, why are some people so incredibly selfish?

Gill your dh's method of redecorating sounds painstaking! doesn't he ever just make do?

TT happy birthday to Paddy, hope he had a nice time. J liked the helium balloons best too. Hope the pg is going ok!

Knickers, tell the tutting people to feck off, it's none of their business! I will try to get round to sorting some clothes out this weekend if that's ok, having a cleanup today.

april, I definitely know who you are now, big congrats to you my dear!

tasha, congrats on the guineapig babies! I might be getting a tabby kitten tonight, I'm so excited, just trying to get through to the guy giving him away now, no luck yet!

Hey all, so much to read !

Thanks for the birthday wishes James, now just have the party to get through on Saturday. So much for loads of people not being able to come because of summer holidays and it being the Bank Holiday, reckon there's about a hundred coming . will be sat in a corner rocking before they all even arrive I reckon. Never again I tell you, never again...

Hersetta, the I* Xmas party sounds like a marvellous idea. Will deffo come along to that unless it's on Friday 12th December as have just booked with friends to take our boys to see Father Christmas at Harrods . How cringy are we ?? #

congrats on the new additions Tasha !! Will you be able to keep them ?

Oh, and another big hooray for Meandmyjoe's little fella - gotta love those 12 hour sleeps.

GillL · 21/08/2008 15:56

Hi sagpuss - hope the party goes well. It's supposed to be dry on Saturday. Fingers crossed for good weather. I can sympathise with your early starts.

Ds varies but is normally up between 4:30 and 5:30. I don't put him to bed before I know he's definitely tired so I'm not sure there's anything I can do about it. It was dh's turn to get up with him this morning. He was trying to get me to feel sorry for him and let him sleep in but no such luck.

FGS at your inlaws leifmum. It's the first time you've gone away so you had to choose one of them. It's their loss anyway, cutting of their nose to spite their face, as they say. Easy to say but don't let it spoil your trip.

Dh is very frustrating James when it comes to diy. I suppose if we do it all properly now then it won't need much work when it comes to selling. I'd love to do our bedroom as it's 2 different types of wallpaper (where we removed a built in wardrobe), one being bright yellow and the other is brown and orange flowers 70s style and a manky blue carpet. I might try and work on him after he's done ds' room. Even if we just get some textured wallpaper to paint over and a cheap carpet it will be better than it is now.

Good luck with the kitten James. Ds is a nightmare with our cats. He's always trying to pull their fur and whiskers out. He does give the older one lots of hugs though - it's really sweet The younger one doesn't let him get that close.

Hersetta · 21/08/2008 16:30

TT - you're safe with your santa visit. the 12th is the day of the I* charity day - fancy dress to work and general all day piss up I am led to believe. i think the childrens party is going to be the next week.

Good luck with your mega party - can't imagine catering for that many. We have over 35 coming to Caitlin's which I think is too many - but everyone said yes, i was expecting more people to say no!

James - she is a chatterbox- never stops warbling in fact. trying to watch anything on tv is nearly impossible due to her incessant chattering.

Good luck with the kitten - within 2 days I expect your hands to be torn to shreds.

Congrats on the guinea pigs tasha. My DH loves GP's - we have nine (yes nine) of our own!

leifmum · 21/08/2008 20:15

dd is asleep in bed and i am very relieved. i know i've been a rubbish mum for her today. was just one of those days when every little whinge seemed to get to me and i was uable to behave rationally. at one point she started crying and then i did. it was like one of those very early sleepless nights a year ago when you just couldn't do anything else. poor little love just stopped and stared at me looking all worried, then i cried even more because i love her so much blah blah blah... anyway she's had her bottle and has gone down and i'm starting on my bottle!

tomorrow will be a better day! have a great evening everyone.

snotdroolanddirtybums · 21/08/2008 20:59

leifmum- poor you we all get days like that enjoy your bot of wine

joining you james and getting a notepad!!! back soon

snotdroolanddirtybums · 21/08/2008 21:30

ok i most def know who april is now too! congrats. glad your keeping well and hope the no ms carries on for you.

TT- wow! at your party. i definately wouldnt even know that many people hope everything goes well and you have plenty of people pitching in. I already have a home for one of the gpigs but im gonna feel bad splitting them up. they are so close to their mummy they follow her in a wee line about the cage then evil big giant comes and takes them awaylol

knickers i get that all the time. dont worry yourself about them they are just people with boring lives and they probably moved on to their nex victim within minutes lol. i got ided for cigs last xmas eve and its still 16 here how much longer you got left? it must be so exciting having the moses basket out again.

im completely frightened by the xmas party plans! ahh i have quite a lot of birthdays to get through first then halloween. anybody any plans? ill prob have a little spiderman, a little monster and a vampire he he he.

gill lol at your neighbours cats names

need a smoke and coffee break...........

meandmyjoe · 22/08/2008 10:51

Leifmum, sorry you had a bad day. The in-law situation sounds very frustrating and upsetting for you, not to mention the pmt on top of that! I still have days with Joseph where he's whinging and I could gladly throw something at him because I had so many horrendous months of it non stop so I kind of resent him when he's grumpy now, which is awful I know.

meandmyjoe · 22/08/2008 11:05

Sorry had to go as someone at the door! Just wanted to offer you hugs leifmum, hope the in-laws have stopped overreacting.

Things here are good, joe now points out the window at brds and says 'bud' 'bud'! It's so sweet! He walked down the high stret with us yesterday with me holding his hand and he was grinning at the pigeons and straining to get to them! He's becomming quite a little cutie.

Tasha I can't believe you got ID'd for cigs! That's as bad as me getting checked for the lotto ticket at Asda! There's no way we look 15 surely! Kind of a compliment though, I'm sure when I'm 40 I'll be over joyed if someone asked me for ID but at 24 it's just boody annoying!! Also I have no ID at the minute as I've sent my driver's liscence and my passport off as they were still in my maiden name so I thought after 2 years it was about time I got them changed! LOL

Shrinkingsagpus, hope the party goes well and that the weather is nice for you.

leifmum · 22/08/2008 14:27

thanks tasha and meandmy! having much better day today, largely due to neither of us waking up until 8.45 (said in hushed tones so as not to upset early risers!)

took dd to toys r us this morning. she would have happily spent all day in there! she adores just watching other kids and follows them around just staring! i'm quite happy to let her carry on but after a while i feel as if i'm looking suspicious just loitering! went into next as well. they have such gorgeous clothes in there. i could happily order their whole winter collection which i think i might this weekend once i've won the lottery!

anyone got plans for the weekend? dh is home tomorrow so we'll go somewhere. sunday i'm taking dd to a birthday party which should be good.

must go, i'm needed to help sort shapes

meandmyjoe · 22/08/2008 14:48

Glad you are having a much better day today leifmum. at 8:45! What time do you put lo to bed??! Is there a secret formula to get them to sleep past 5:30am?!!! DS goes to bed at 7pm but is mostly up at 5 . I'm just glad he sleeps through to be honest though! I know it could be a lot worse and occassionally he suprises me by sleeping in til 6 or 7 but 'tis very rare lately! He used to sleep from 7pm til 8am and I was soooo smug!

I love the clothes in Toys r us but they are rather expensive so just get s few really nice bits from there and then get the rest from Matalan or Tesco! My ds grew so quickly in the begining that he would rarely be able to wear anything twice so I just bought really cheap clothes but he's slowed down now but is still in 18-24 month trouser, he's soooo tall.

My dh is suprising me tomorrow, we are going out for a day but I don't know where. It's our 2nd wedding anniversary on the 26th but he'll be working so we are celebrating early!

Anyone else got owt planned?

lizziemun · 22/08/2008 19:03

Happy Birthday to all those i missed this week. Have copied the list again as i lost it again

Splodj - 23rd August - surprise girl - Selam
Ilovebabies - 25 August - Girl - Chloe Margaret Irene - 10lb 1oz
Pengy - 26th August - Girl - Ruby Clara - 6lb
PinkRanger - 27th August - Boy -Tate - 8lb 5oz
loler - 28th August - boy - Euan George - 9lb 7oz
Babbit - 29th August - Boy - Oscar - 7lb 9oz
Boobooma (NEW NAME STIGOFTHEDUMP) - 29th August - surprise girl - Caitlin Iona - 8lb 12oz
Lizziemun - 30th August - 7th September
tasha22- Bradley- 4lb - 30th august
Hersetta - Caitlin Sophie - 31st August - 8lb 5oz

Have had a busy week taking dd's out and about this week while dh is on holiday.

meandmyjoe I don't think there is a magic formula in geting early risers to sleep longer. Although Lexie has been waking about 4.30am this week and i have just gone in and given her dummy and rabbit and she has gone back to sleep until 6.30/7am which i can cope with.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/08/2008 22:01

Hi TT, hope Paddy enjoys his party, sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun!

Gill I suppose it's one good thing about having to do all the DIY etc myself, as I make all of the decisions. But, on the down side. I have to make all the decisions...

Hersetta, I can't imagine incessant chatter, he barely says anything during the day, but chats a bit at mealtimes. Nine guinea pigs? Good lord.

Leifmum I had one of those days today, not fun. Glad you're feeling better today. I've never been to toys r us, sounds good though.

Tasha, no halloween plans yet, but ds has a deil costume and a dragon costume so he'll be whichever one he still fits!

meandmyjoe, I know what you mean about getting frustrated when they're whiny, don't feel bad. I find muttering "fuck off" under my breath helps lol Joe sounds really tall, J is just fitting the 12 month trousers, height wise. Hope you have a nice time tomorrow!

Lizzie hope you've enjoyed having dh home and he's been giving you lots of rest.

Well, I got my kitten! He's very cute, we've called him Darwin, he's 7 weeks old, not 9 as I previously thought. I thought I'd done the wrong thing today as I've had a day of it and having a kitten bouncing around and weeing and throwing up and jumping in the fridge etc didn't exactly help, but I hope think we'll all settle into a routine soon enough.

James had a huuuge screaming fit today which I thought was a tantrum because he was overtired, then I attributed to teething, but he was getting more and more hysterical. I gave him calpol, and then finally wondered if it was his nappy. He had done his fifth poo in a day, and his bottom was red raw. He was absolutely hysterical as I cleaned him up and bathed him. I've put him to bed with metanium and bepanthen on it, poor boy wouldn't sit down in the bath it was so sore, I was almost crying myself. Hopefully he'll be better tomorrow. No real plans this for the bank holiday, just time together as a family as we're at mil's next weekend.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

jukie · 23/08/2008 00:23

just read back, dont make much sense sorry drunkin snot was helpin me

GillL · 23/08/2008 06:12

Hello.

It's taken me about half an hour to type this. Ds keeps pressing buttons and deleting stuff that I've typed. He's in a bad mood and I think he wants to go back to bed. He was up at 5. I was awake before him but I think it's my body clock having got used to waking at that time.

The funeral went well yesterday. It was nice to catch up with some of dh's relatives that we hadn't seen since last year, obviously would have been better in nicer circumstances.

I would also be interested in the secret to getting los to sleep past 5. Ds does it sometimes but it's more of a fluke. Doesn't make any difference what time he goes to bed or eats.

I've got no plans this weekend. Ds is helping his mate put in a new floor (joists/floorboards) today and tomorrow so I'll be on my own probably til tea time both days. Going in to town today and might have a trip to bluewater tomorrow as it was pay day yesterday although dh will still tell me not to spend any money I desperately need new shoes for work and I want to try and see if I can get a few bits in the sales for xmas presents. I'm not working Monday (for once) so we might go out.

Poor little James. Hope his bottom is better today.

Hope the wine did the trick leifmum. I still get days like that sometimes.

Welcome to the thread jukie. I've got 2 dcs - dd 3.5 and ds 12 months. There are lots of walking talking babies here. My ds is saying a few words but he's not going to be walking for a while yet. Good luck with the pg. Hope it's going well so far. Do you know what you're having?
