Hi Jukie, welcome! I've tried cutting my grass with a strimmer so many times as we always seem to be breaking our lawn mower! It takes frigging hours and it's back breaking!

James, lol to the muttering under your breath, I seem to do that a lot too! I'm amazed that f* wasn't his first word. I really need to stop actually as yesterday I did see him sat going 'f-f-f-f-f-f' but I assumed he was trying to say frog but maybe not! He does seem to take so much in nowadays, it's scary!

Hope everything is OK with all the pregnant ladies: Knickers, Tokentotty, April, Lizzie, are you all doing OK?

I am actually less broody now. One of my best friends gave birth last week and it seems to have taken the edge off my own broodiness! Also my cousin phoned me last night to say that her and her bloke are going to try for a baby early next year so there'll be plenty of babies for me to coo over and I don't have to go through any of the sleepless nights, wohoo!

Had another 5:30am start here, dh at work so I'm bored and everytime I try and put own on the TV, Joseph keeps changing the channel at the sky box to the Polish music channel

Anyway, off to entertain him!

meandmyjoe · 23/08/2008 06:24

Gill, xposted, glad the funeral went as well as it could. Hope the family are all OK. I don't think my body clock will EVER get used to waking at 5:30, never mind 5am! I'm so envious of all these mummies that get to lie in til 8:30, I was one of them not so long ago but then it all went pear shaped!

lizziemun · 23/08/2008 07:39

Welcome Jukie.

James yes i am getting lots of rest around going out for day trips. Although by the end of next week i will be glad to see the back of DH when goes back to work . I was getting realy stessed last night with him, because he normally goes out (poker night) at 8pm and he was still here 8.30pm I kept asking him if he was going out.

GillL your ds must be realy clever ' I've got no plans this weekend. Ds is helping his mate put in a new floor (joists/floorboards) today and tomorrow .

GillL · 23/08/2008 07:53

Lol lizzie - oops Glad you're keeping well.

meandmyjoe - just put 2 and 2 together and realised that Joseph must be almost as tall as my 3 yr old dd. She is only just coming out of 18-24 months trousers! She still has some 12-18 months from Matalan that fit her. I'm not sure but I think she's about 92cm. I'll have to measure her later. I was expecting ds to be bigger than he is because dh is 6' 7". His whole family is tall. All of the men are well over 6' and the women all tower over me, even his nan. Ds has to wear 12-18 months tops but he still fits easily in 9-12 trousers although some are too short, I guess it depends where they're from.

GillL · 23/08/2008 08:03

Dd must have had a growth spurt recently, she's now 94.5cm. She has been eating non-stop recently including lots of fruit and veg. Not sure if that makes much difference.

meandmyjoe · 23/08/2008 08:45

I'm sure the fruit and veg are doing her good! She must be putting them to good use.

My ds is 86cm now, he is enormous, off the scale for height and on the 99th centile for weight. He's a bit of a chunk but always has been! He was over 20 lbs when he was 6 months old and was about the height of a 1 year old then! I used to get people staring at him when I took him to baby groups and loads of women asked me if he was walking yet when he was 6 months old! He'd only just learnend to sit up! I think they just thought he was a very lazy toddler!

It's so strange when he's walking now though cos people just assume he's about 2!

GillL · 23/08/2008 09:20

Wow! Must be annoying for you but I would think the same as them comparing him with dd. He would come up to her eyes I just looked at her height chart and she was 83cm when she was 2 so he is probably taller than a lot of 2 year olds.

Dh has always been huge. His mum had to tell her neighbour to stop her 15 year old son playing so rough with him. Apparently they thought he was the same age but he was only 10.

meandmyjoe · 23/08/2008 12:08

Aww your poor dh! He is taller than my friend's 2 year old but he is half Japanese so he is quite petite.

My brother was always really tall for his age though and he's now 6ft 5 and my dad's 6ft 2 so I think Joe just takes after my family. My dh is 5 11 so is average height but he was nealy that height when he was 12 and just stopped growing by the time he was about 14! Maybe Joe will do the same and it'll all even out in the end. Or maybe he really is a giant! Not sure, the health visitors say he's fine though so I'm thinking he's just going to be a big lad!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 23/08/2008 19:09

KNICKERS ---> ffp 0-3m boys clothes

Well, I think she means 0-3 months, and not years, anyway!

hello all! welcome to the thread jukie! congrats on the bump, hope the morning sickness eases off soon!

how's darwin doing james? i cannot believe you've called him that! when we get our two kittens (one day) we're calling them Perdy and Darwin! or at least we were going to! Darwin is where i met DH and i just like the name Perdy although for the cat i'd have spelt it Purrdy! reminds me of when i refused to tell people what name we had planned for dd in case anyone nicked it, and when my fiend had her babe a few weeks before i was soooooo scared she was going to use it. found t later it was their second choice so it was a close thing!

hi knickers - how're you doing? think i saw you on another thread about nappies? i've got some mothercare smart nappies that we don't use, only used them a few times when dd was about 4 months. they're prefolds and yours ffp if you fancy them? let me know what you think!

hope you do make it to bluewater tomorrow gill! used to live in south east london/kent so it used to be a regular haunt! i guess our nearest similar lace now is milton keynes which has a charm all of its own (i hate it!) glad the funeral went ok. difficult times for you all.

meandmy - he's ceratinly a big lad isn't he bless him! all the more to cuddle! dd's fairly tall but seems to be slimming down at the moment.

so after that mammoth sleep the other night she had a rough night last night settling. think it's teethng. she's still not dropped off yet tonight. i put her amber teething necklace back on today which i think helped. had to stop her wearing it a few months ago because she was incessantly chewing it. she didn't seem to realise it was on though today. she norammly goes to bed between half seven and eight. for a long time she'd wake between six and half past. now it's normally between seven and ieght but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. her naps are totally erratic too.

right i'm off to see what's being talked about elsewhere on mumsnet. night all

My2 · 23/08/2008 20:11

8.30 lie don't think i've had one of them for about 4 years!

hiya - been awol for ages. dd2 is now getting her eye teeth through - poor wee thing just seems to be getting them all at once with no breaks - think we are now on no14 so only 6 more to go. she had her hib and men c yesterday and only cried for a few seconds - but the poor nurse got a real nasty stare and angry babble shouted at her (all with arm waving too ). she's also doing a few steps herself, but starts giggling which then makes her fall down - very funny to watch.

i've got tickets to take dd1 to see Milkshake on friday - peppa pig, noddy etc so that should be good fun . lots of pre-schoolers screaming, figiting etc.

have skim read hope all the pregnant ladies are ok (has april outed herslef yet and i've missed it?) whingey babies are no longer whingey, are sleeping better etc etc.

take care all and have a nice weekend. is it just a bank holiday in england?

well have told my sister now (purplerabbit), so am outing myself here (although sounds like you'd all already guessed anyway).

Due 24th April - pleased but taking me a wee while to get used to it, despite going on about being clucky etc before - didnt think it would happen that quickly.

my2 - a lot of the banks are closed on monday, but apart from that think everything is normal here.

forgot the notepad for the rest, but will keep up to date from now on.

lizziemun · 24/08/2008 08:06

Congrates Conkertree

GillL · 24/08/2008 08:06

ds slept in til 7 this morning so I've let dh sleep in even though it was his turn to get up.

I don't know if I'll get to Bluewater today. Dh normally does the food shopping on a Wednesday but he still hasn't been yet this week. He'll be back at his mate's today working on the floor so I guess I'll have to go today. I suppose I could do both but I feel sorry for the dcs when I drag them round the shops for too long.

meandmyjoe - I'm sure he'll even out at some point. I'm hoping my dd will shoot up as a teenager. I would hate for her to be the shortest in her class like I was. They say you can estimate their adult height by doubling their height at age 2 (or something like that). If that's the case dd's stuffed. She'd be well under 5'.

Hi My2. Hope you've been well. I can't believe your dd2 has 14 teeth! Ds still has 1 which is barely visible at the gum's surface if you look really hard (bless him). I'm just getting a bit fed up with having to cook everything to death so he can chew it with his gums. Hopefully the rest will follow soon so I can stop cooking and freezing apples and pears.

Congratulations conker. I think we had all guessed it was you A lot of people are surprised how easy it is to ttc after the first one, even if they had trouble with dc1.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/08/2008 10:35

Will read and answer properly in a bit, just wanted to let the universe know of my displeasure at being woken up on a sunday morning, not to a baby crying -no, no, by some miracle James was still fast asleep- but by the sound of a very small cat pissing near my head!!

Conker, CONGRATULATIONS! I knew it was you as your posting style is rather unmistakable, so when you mentioned eczema I knew it had to be you, after poor Struan's skin problems! I'm so pleased for you, bet he will loving a little brother or sister to play with.

Gill, I wouldn't worry too much about Alex having no teeth, they're all there under the surface making the gums hard. James has only got 3 teeth now (well 2 and one sliver!) but it doesn't stop him munching almost anything, the only things he has problems with are tough meat and fruit skins. Raw pear was his first food actually (though it was very ripe) I wouldn't stop steaming the apple though yet, they say it's the easiest thing to choke on, don't they?

Back later x

J's bedtime is usually around 9pm so dp gets to spend a decent block of time with him after work before J goes to bed. J generally sleeps for about 11 - 12 hours whatever time he's put to bed (except when teething etc, when it all goes haywire) so we get up at 9ish usually.

His bum is better than it was, thanks for asking. He doesn't seem to be in as much pain at all with it now, though it's still quite red. I do think a lot of it is because he's teething, his poos seem to be quite loose, frequent and acidic a lot of the time, he must have done about 5 yesterday, and three today so far. (sorry for tmi)

OP posts:
meandmyjoe · 24/08/2008 13:29

Congratulations Conker!!!!!!

Glad J's bum is better, sounded painful, poor little boy.

Woah, knickers 10am!!!! I'm sure even if I put my ds to bed at 9pm he'd still be ready to start the day at 5:30 . I have experimented with his bedtime from 7pm to 8 then 8:30 just to see if it made any difference but all I got was a very over tired and cranky baby who was still up at 5:30!!!!!! So it's back to putting him to bed at 7pm as at least he gets a bit more sleep that way. It could be worse, after his awful separation anxiety at 9 months when he needed rocking to sleep and wouldn't be put down, up every 2 hours, I'm drunk on sleep!

I can't believe how many teeth some of the babies have got! Joseph still just has 6. They are so cute though, he keeps doing this really odd grin where he wrinkles his nose and flashes his teeth off! It looks more of a grimace than a smile but he chuckles while he does it so I'm guessing it's a smile .

Anyway, dh taken ds to see his mum so I've got the house to myself for an hour or two! Woohoo, now should I use this time on my own to gorge myself on crisps or clean the bathroom I wonder?????!

meandmyjoe · 24/08/2008 19:45

The crisps won!

leifmum · 25/08/2008 10:41

congratualtions conker! how exciting! (but maybe just a little bit scary too!)

glad the crisps won meandmy! salt and vinegar?

hope you were woken up in a better way this morning james! not the best start to the day, especially if james was sleeping late for once!

well i've been at work since 8 and time is going soooooo slowly! i'm in the office because it's bank holiday, the only person here and no radio or anything! brought my ipod but it had been left on so don't know how much battery is left. leaving it until this afternoon when i get really bored! i'm supposed to be preapring some reports. look quite straight forward as long as i can work out how to get the info whihc i fear may be very time consuming so i'm delaying the inevitable and posting instead!

had a good day yesterday. went to see my sister and her 3 dc in the morning then went to a friend's baby's birthday party. dd spent the whole afternoon pointing at balloons and eating cake! then once she was in bed played wii with dh. very tired arms today from doing breaststroke! god only knows what we'd have looked like if anyone glanced in the windows!

hope you all enjoy bank holiday!
