Hello. It's freezing in the office again. I've been wearing my coat since about 9:30 and I'm still cold. I'll have to remember to bring an extra jumper tomorrow. I did a bit more Christmas shopping on Saturday. I've only got a couple of bits left to get. I can get those on my day of next week though.

meandjoe - hope your Christmas day is more enjoyable this year. Glad Joe is getting better.

helibee - glad you enjoyed your holiday. The glasses have definitely made a difference to my headaches. I thought I would only need them for driving, tv and working on the computer but I wore them all day on Saturday and that was just for shopping. My sister has been to a migraine clinic. She get headaches all the time like I do. They've prescribed something to help her body learn to manage pain again so she can stop taking so much paracetamol. If it works for her then I'll definitely be going.

I've got hypothyroidism too. Before I started taking Thyroxine I used to fall asleep after dinner every night, wake up to get ready for bed and then sleep all night. It's amazing how much difference it made.

lizzie - sorry to hear about your mum. Hope she's ok. How's the pg going?

Hi hollytree. How's the pg going? Hope the work picks up in the new year. Is it generally quiet this time of year anyway?

Is anyone taking their lo to see Father Christmas? I'm definitely taking dd but I don't know if it's worth taking ds. There's a ride that he'll probably enjoy and it's free for under 2s so I might take him anyway as I won't lose anything.

hollytree · 01/12/2008 21:08

Hi Gill - our firm are cutting back on most things but they dont seem to thinkk of cutting down on heating bill so the office is always roasting.

better than being too cold but still not great and i cant bring myself to open a window in december.

things are normally quieter at this time of year, but since its been a quiet half year, the firm are increasing their overdraft every month and cant do that indefinately.

we are taking ds on the Boness steam railway on 20th december and santa will be on the train - going with my sister and her two so her ds1 will enjoy the santa bit more but the two wee ones will enjoy the train hopefully and might avoid crying at santa.

snotdroolanddirtybums · 02/12/2008 19:10

hiya, lo only got seen at the hosp yesterday. he had to go to a hospital further away because they refused to see him at the one nearer to me as hes under peadiatric care of the one further away because he was born there because there was no room in any closer and needed one with a scbu....confused? me too.

so was seen yesterday and his chest has been clear for about 3 days which i told the doc but she didnt pay much attention and sent him for an xray and she was able to tell me he doesnt havea chest infection i was able to tell her that without an xray and without being a doctor but i can also tell them that within the next 2 weeks he will have had at least 1. so she'll see him again in march. they weighed him at 15lb something and i questioned that and asked for it to be redone, he then weighed16 pound somthing and i said that still sounds quite small so she checked again and thats what he weighs. he weighed 17lb something about6 wks ago.....fed up. he wont drink, i always thought you need to drink fluids but apparently he must be getting enough from his food

im not happy im gonna phone docs tomorrow

meandjoe · 02/12/2008 19:47

Wow sorry you are getting messed around snot. Sounds a bit like they are dragging their feet a bit. Poor little mite. Hope things get sorted for him, it must be driving you nuts with worry.

Hollytree, love the new festive name!!! Hope the kiddies enjoy santa and don't cry at him!

Loads of people seem to have their Christmas decorations up in our area so I am looking like the Scruge of the road! I wil have to brave getting the tree out soon but I know it will be sooo much temptation for Joseph!

Anyway, Joe's cold is all gone, even his cough has gone. He has ANOTHER molar through now, finally one at the bottom! He has nearly all his top teeth and just three bottom teeth, only 2 incisors and now this one molar so not sure when the others are plannning on making an appearance??!

Anyway, just pleased he's better and happy.

Hope everyone is ok.

hollytree · 02/12/2008 20:38

poor you snot - just sounds like nobody can give you any answers about whats going on or what they can do to help. so frustrating.

wow with the teeth meandjoe - struan still only has 3 on the top and 4 on the bottom.

had my 20 week scan today - was good - they spent ages with us and all looks good. they wont tell us the sex but was looking anyway and i thought i saw the turtle of a boy but ds thought he saw the three lines of a girl so since neither of us were very sure, we are no further forward with guessing. am going to assume its a boy so can stop saying "your little brother or sister" to struan as it gets a bit annoying, and if it turns out to be a girl, that will be a nice surprise.

hope everyone is well - will reply to your text helibee - am just working out whats happening then.

meandjoe · 03/12/2008 08:43

Why wouldn't they tell you the sex Holly?? Or have you already said why? Iwill scour the thread to see if it's been mentioned before! Great to hear that all looks well.

hollytree · 03/12/2008 09:45

its just the forth valley nhs policy not to say - i wondered if she was hovering there for a bit cause she was saying - look there's the bladder, and there's the cord so thought she might be letting us look for ourselves, but then later she went off to do something and dh and I looked at each other and he said - so its a girl just as i said, so its a boy.

so am a bit disappointed as hoped i would see something conclusive, but think i will go and buy a little rainbow coloured babygro that I saw in babygap a wee while ago as I wanted to buy something wee for it soon.

meandjoe · 03/12/2008 18:44

Ooo holly that would drive me nuts if i wanted to know. It will be a nice suprise though. I think if we do have another baby then we would want it to be a suprise anyway but first time I couldn't wait to find out!

Well I had a lovely day with my best friend today and dh had Joseph all afternoon. Longest time I've been away from him and only the 3rd time altogether but it was nice and certainly something I will be doing more of. With dh working 12 hours, he doesn't get to spend much time with Joe on his 4 days at work so on his 4 days off he says he'd like to start doing more father/ son things so I get some much needed 'me' time! Very exciting really as I do feel a bit suffocated sometimes. I've always worked and been at uni so being at home alone for nearly 16 months has deffinitely made me realise how much I need a bit of time away (and I know that sounds selfish) but dh agrees that it would do us all good.

Just off to put ds to bed!

snotdroolanddirtybums · 03/12/2008 21:25

meandjoe- good to here the little man is feeling better and your me time sounds very exciting. my xmas tree has been attached many times and as a result currently only has baubles at the top lol wee monkeys.

hollytree- they told me the same when i was pg with ds1 but then told me sex of ds2+3 i think it depends on who you get aswell cause i know a few people who have been told that. i was looking at a girl from class' scan today and i could clearly see boy bits but it was the scan of her daughter.

my ds2 is turning into a right wee cheaky monkey, he really makes me laugh. hes still not talking but can communicate really well and understands everything, i really love the 2s....appart from the tantrums lol i can see ds3 copying different things he does and my ds1 is sooo excited about christmas he keeps saying is it christmas yet. cant wait to take him to see santa he'll be blown away.

hope everyone is well. im off to get organised for desperate housewives comin on lol

Uki · 05/12/2008 10:25

Hi All

been working all week, it was so tiring. I really don't know how people work full time and have children.I take off my hat to you.

tasha- nice to hear from you,i've missed you.(like the new name, although old one is easier your house sounds like mine ds1 ultra excited about christmas too, he keeps having dreams about his presents, and LL is the cheeky one, he likes to run off with the remote control.

holly- that's frustrating you wanted to know and they wouldn't tell you, a suprise is nice, I always wish their wqas more cute unisex stuff out there, we could all save money that way.

helibee- wow hypothyrodism, what will that mean? common in cats, well that's how i know of it, my cat ate like a horse and lost weight. I hope progestrone treatment works, it's normally pretty successful isn't it?

lizziemum -sorry to hear of bleed and mum,
hope things are better now, what a scare.

I had first dr's appointment today, i have been so worried about pg progessing, I have a scan booked on dec. 17th now so will find out then. will either be a good christams or a really sad one.

meandjoe · 05/12/2008 19:11

Fingers crossed for a happy one UKI, I'm sure everything will be fine. How you feeling? Hope all the pg ladies are doing well. xxx

hollytree · 08/12/2008 10:31

hi folks - uki have you any reason to be worried, or is it general pg worry? hope its the latter, and I'm sure it will all be great.

came into work today to find that all the paralegals have been put onto 4 day weeks, and the bosses have taken a 20% pay cut but will still be in 5 days, so its all worrying again. They'd like me to start mat leave as early as possible - I am hoping I can stay till the start of March cause that would make money slightly easier, but at the same time, I'd like to still have a job to come back to (I think) so am happy to compromise as much as I can.

Having got used to being at work 3 days a week, I'm slightly nervous about being at home full time (although part of me can't wait as well). I wish we'd managed to move so that it was easier to go places with ds but we will manage - just have to accept a fair amount of bus travel in our week if we want to go to bigger places.

helibee · 08/12/2008 14:23

hi, we're all recovering from the flu here-dh, C and i spent most of the week curled up in bed together (i'm sure the bugs loved that ) anyway dh and i are slowly getting better but C seems to have caught the sickness bug now!

snot-hope ds3 remains well and puts on lots of weight and thats so exciting having kids old enough to get excited about christmas with

hollytree-glad the scan went well and hope the mat leave/money sit works out just right for you.

uki-hope everything is ok with pg. Your cat sounds like it has hyperthyroidism rather than hypo-I'm hoping the thyroxine will help but because of my FM/CFS the joint pain and fatigue i live with every day anyway so i don't think i'll notice much difference there.

meandjoe-glad joe is better and that you had a lovely day with your bf. I'm a bit like you, the only time i've had apart from C is with dh on our anniversary for a few hours, some me time would def be appreciated now and again.

On thurs night C would not sleep, not one wink until 5am, then hardly slept during the day and was the same on fri night then on sat my dad was here and i pretty much slept from 5pm till 10am yesterday and then from 4-8pm last night (i woke up for top gear) Hopefully he'll be back to normal once he's better or else i'm going to end up a zombie by christmas!

My2 · 08/12/2008 20:12

hi everyone - i want to say ' stop the world i want to get off'!! everything is so hectic.

we're all just getting over the latest round of colds/coughs/sore throats etc. dd2 ended up having to get a decongestant from the dr, she had thrush on wee bum and had to get cream for that. so i reckon that we'll have 10-14 days of good health then all catch the next cold in time for xmas day!

helibee - poor you and C, hope you are all better soon. did you get my text? the 12th dd1 is at nursery and the 13th is mil's birthday so we are off to hers for the weekend. 19th could be a possibility for us?

hollytree - would you be able to do any kilts if you started mat leave early? it's a worrying time. there's a development of 3 eco houses not far from mine and the last one has taken months to sell. suppose this time of year doesn't help either. and wrap up warm for santa's train - bo'ness is not the warmest of places!!

uki - fingers crossed for you, do you feel like everything is progressing? are they doing scan earlier since you have had problems?

i'm taking dd1 to see the cbeebies show at the SECC on thursday - can't wait! haven't told her yet so it will be a nice surprise for her.

the 2 of them have got an xmas pary tomorrow and santa will be giving out presents - but dd1 is terrified of santa so she's informed our childminder that she has to go up and get the present and dd1 will stand and watch and take a photo

oh well off to get stuff done

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 08/12/2008 23:37

Uki, fingers crossed for you xx

Hope all poorly babies are feeling better soon.

helibee · 10/12/2008 07:28

i can't sleep! but at least my wee monkey is tucked up and snoozing away for a few more hours yet, hopefully it'll give me a chance to get a few more bits done indoors.

Oh i forgot to add to last weeks woes that i had delerium with a fever and told dh i was going for a walk at 2.30am? and before he could catch me i passed out cos of the fever and cracked my head and got concussion! I then forgot for a few hours that my mum had died and kept asking dh why he was hiding her from me Apparently i also tried to concoct a cunning plan to kidnap my dad from a his new evil boss who needs drink and drugs when you have concussion

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 10/12/2008 19:10

Oh dear Helibee sounds like it was an eventful night!!!

Well tonight dd has gone into a big girl bed. She has only been there 15mins but so far, no screaming or shouting

meandjoe · 11/12/2008 06:12

Oh dear helibee , your dh must have been a bit panicked! Are you OK now then? Must have been very scary. Hope C is OK now.

My2 My friend's ds is scared of Santa, she has a total nightmare at Christmas time trying to stop him from ever seeing a picture or Christmas card with
him on! Is everyone over the colds/ thrush now?

Holly, hope the job is OK and safe. My dh has been told that is things don't pick up soon then everyone at their company will have to take paycuts and not get their quaterly bonuses, which aren't a huge amount of money but the extra couple of hundred quid every 3 months really makes a huge difference to us, not sure how we'd cope without it.

Anyway, Joe is OK. Think he's getting another molar on the bottom again though, his cheek is very red and I can see his gum is quite swollen but he seems happy enough for now.

Hope all is OK Knickers.

xxxx

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 11/12/2008 06:19

Hope the tooth comes through ok for ds MeandJoe.

It took dd 2 hours to fall asleep, on the floor but I picked her up and put her in bed and she has been there since Piccies on profile

Next thing to tackle is bedtime dummy

meandjoe · 11/12/2008 06:36

Awwww Knickers! Bless her, fast asleep on the floor. There's no way I could put ds in big boys bed yet, he'd just never go to sleep! I think he'd just get out straight away and cry at the stair gate til I 'rescued' him!

I'm quite glad that even though he's really tall, he hasn't yet discovered that he could in fact climb out of the cot if he really put his mind to it! He tends to go to sleep really quickly after being put in his cot so hasn't ever tried to do it yet.

She's still very young really, plenty of time to get rid of dummy at night as long as he isn't plugged up all day then I'm sure it'll be fine. DS would never have a dummy and I really wished he had but I suppose it's one less thing to worry about taking off him! He still has bedtime bottle which my HV said I should have taken off him at 9 mnonths , I really don't think he's ready for that yet though!!!

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 11/12/2008 06:45

She was trying to climb out of her cot but hadnt managed it. Really wanted to get her into a bed before we moved ds into her room so she didnt feel pushed out iyswim. I took her dummy off her through the day months ago, way before she turned one and she was fine. DD just has a sippy cup for her bedtime milk but nothing wrong with having a bottle of milk before bed. And dong know where she has got 9months from You do what you feel is right

DD got weighed yesterday and she was 26lb4 but apparently she is 'solid' but inline with her height. I feel abit bad because she hasnt been out of the house much since I have had ds so she ahasnt been getting any proper excersise. We used to go to soft play at least once a week and she would run around like a nutter for the morning!

lizziemun · 11/12/2008 06:55

I hope everything ok UKI

Meandmyjoe Lizzie had her only bottle of milk at night until she was 2 then she chose her sippycup (which she has with nighttime milk in and she is 4.10yrs). I think as long as your ds is not having drinks during the day in a bottle then i don't see the probelm.

meandjoe · 11/12/2008 06:55

I'm sure things will settle down soon and then you can start taking her out to soft play again soon. I can't imagine how the hell I'd cope with 2 babies. I still feel knackered with just one. You must be super mum!

I dunno where HV got 9 months from, she told me when he was about 8 months old that I should start getting him off the bottle (he only as 1 a day now and has cups throughout the day). I still had to feed him to sleep til 12 months so there was NO way I was taking it off him then! He settles himself everynight now and I'm sure he'll give it up when he's ready. I have friend's who still give their 3 year olds a bed time bottle and as long as I brush his teeth after I don't really care as long as he's happy. Might have to lie to the HV next time though cos she seemed horrified a couple of months ago when I told her he still had it.

26 lbs, she must just be 'well built' like my ds! Took him to be weighed last week and he was nearly 29lbs but is also off the chart for height so not worried!

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 11/12/2008 07:55

I wouldnt lie to her meandjoe, he's your child and if you think thats best for him then so be it. I asked hv if she would say if she was worried about their weight and she said 'what would you do if I was? Put them on diets?' shes right though! Was funny how she said it!
In the car now for the trek down to London!
Morning Lizzie, how's you?

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 11/12/2008 07:56

Supermum? Nah just brave!
