Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
meandjoe · 24/11/2008 19:29

That's similar to mt dh's shifts, he works two 12 hour day shifts followed by two 12 hour night shifts. It used to be hard and I would et very lonely but now I think me and ds have just got into a routine of being just the 2 of us. I find he is actually less demanding when I'm on my own as he tends to go mad when dh is here wanting all daddy's attention and throws tantrums when dh is busy or tries to do something that doesn't involve him! Urrrgh wisdom teeth are grim aren't they?? My 2 bottom ones often play up and it's agony, I do sympathise with little babies going through it for months on end.

Conker, hope you and ds are feeling better soon.

Loler, hope you and ds2 enjoyed the reading. Joe loves it when we read to him, it's the only time he sits still!

meandjoe · 24/11/2008 19:30

Throttle, sorry about your dd, must be very hard going for her and you. Fingers crossed she's on the mend soon. Bless her, hope it doesn't affect ds. xxx

lizziemun · 24/11/2008 20:42

Congratulations UKI.

I've come on for a moan as well. Lizzie bought home from school 'winter vomiting bug' at the end of last week so she was ill thursday night/friday, Lexie had it saturday and Gary had it sunday and i got it last night I haven't been this ill (can not even keep water dawn until a couple of hours ago sorry TMI) for years.

But my wonderfall DH has dealt with it all as i am sick phobic . He has even taken today and tomorrow of work to look after me.

ToThrottleablackbird · 24/11/2008 22:02

Awww thst is nice of him Lizzie hope you start to feel better soon.

We went from dp working whenever he wanted, to being made redundant, then not working for four months then working 10 hours shift. Was very hard but we are now also in some sort of routine.

Uki · 25/11/2008 11:01

Oh Lizzie and conker -sorry to hear of the yucky v bug, nothing worse, hope your both feeling back up to full strength now.

Gill- hope teeth are better too, i had mine out at 16, Do you think you will need yours out? I still remember the absolute gorgeous surgeon I had, and the very kind male nurse that woke me out of my dreamy sleep that included the surgeon.

THANKS FOR ALL THE CONGRAT'S it's still sinking in, nice to be able to tell you all first, that makes it all a little more real.

LL has started to have little tnatrums now, runs off into another room crying if he can't have what he wants.

meandjoe · 25/11/2008 17:12

Hope everyone is feeling better and all the bugs have gone. Joe is slowly recovering, still has a chesty little cough and a raspy laugh but he is eating well and seems happy today, thank the Lord! He is laughing and dancing a lot (he dances like his dad ) but is on the mend I think.

UKI, glad things are OK, Joe has the tantrums too, I just ignore and distract like a loon!

My2 · 25/11/2008 20:11

hi all

meandjoe - glad he's on the mend, it's horrible when they are like that! dd2 loves carrie and david's popshop on cbeebies - especially the 'is it this or is it that song' she does this weird fast stomping of her feet whilst turnign round in circles - i must get it on video!

lizziemum/conker - sorry to hear about the vomiting bug - if it's any consolation if it is the winter vomiting bug i.e. norovirus you are unlikely to get it again as you will now be immune. conker - hope you've not felt guilty about not being at work - you shouldn't be around others for at least 48 hours after your last episode of vomiting (or diarrhoea if anyone has that!)

uki - can't remember if i've said congratulations or not -soooooo congratulations (feeling a wee bit ) but i know i couldn't do it all again, so will settle with my 2 mischief makers

throtle - hope your dd keeps it to herself and doesn't share. is she feeling miserable?

gill - how's the wisdom tooth - can't believe you're teething!!!

both my dds love books - dd1 is getting upset because she can't read - so i've bought a couple of read with me books and she's starting to recognise words. and dd2 loves books too - i tend to sit on the sofa with one cuddled in at one side of me and the other at the other and we read whatever book's been choosen. dd2 gets fed up after a while and wanders off/jumps on the sofa/licks the window/eats a book/tries to sit on my head/pulls her sisters hair/turn the lamp on and off/emptys the dvds/turns the tv onand off......

i'm feeling very proud of myself, i've nearly finished my xmas shopping - just got DPs pressie's to get, and a couple of wee things for the girls and that's me....hooray!

conkertree · 26/11/2008 13:45

Wow my2 thats impressive with the shopping - really must get on with some more.

I was feeling guilty about not being at work but then ds was all cuddled up on me and I thought - I need to be here for him anyway, if not for me cause he just wanted to be with me. But you are right about not infecting others - thats a good reason too. I got this last winter too so is it a new strain, but good news if I'm now immune at least for this winter.

everyone seems to be unwell just now - a general hope everyone/everyones dc are getting better.

ds disappeared yesterday from the sitting room where he'd been a limpet all day so I left him to get on with it. Re-appeared about 10 mins later with his cup in one hand and an empty carton of milk from the recycling bin in the other. He's just learnt to nod so asked him if he wanted milk and he nodded and proceeded to drink two full cups - had to laugh cause he put so much effort in - he got a book to stand on to get to his cup on the kitchen table, and had to clear things out of the way to get to the recycling bin (not lots but make a path through his toys etc) and he'd obviously gone to a lot of effort to make his request known. Made me lol.

conkertree · 26/11/2008 13:46

apologise for bad grammar there - it was meant to be a question about a new strain.

GillL · 26/11/2008 14:11

hello. I felt terrible again yesterday morning with my wisdom tooth. The gum was so swollen that it hurt to talk and swallow and dh had to make a dinner that needed a limited amount of chewing. I'm feeling much better today. The gum seems to be split all the way along where the tooth will be so hopefully I'm through the worst of it.

I've got my new glasses now and they make such a difference when driving and watching tv. I can't believe they kept telling me at the opticians that my eyes have hardly changed. My head has been better the last few days so lets hope it's not just a coincidence.

lizzie, blackbird, conker - hope everyone is feeling better now.

uki - my old dentist was telling me for years that I'd probably have to have both of the top wisdom teeth out eventually. He said that they wouldn't stop moving downwards because there are no teeth underneath to meet.

My2 - well done for almost finishing your xmas shopping. I'm getting there but still have quite a bit to get.

I can't believe all these babies doing such clever things. My ds would never think to put something in front of a cupboard to reach something off the worktop. He'd just stand there looking at me saying uh uh uh uh until I got what he wanted.

loler · 26/11/2008 18:16

wow that is clever. I'm impressed with pointing and saying uh uh uh. Ds2 is so chilled he never really wants anything! If one of the others takes his car he'll scream but that's it.

I guess this is why he is still not walking - did 5 steps at the start of the month and no more since! Today he has a new style of crawling - has a car in each hand and then does crawling legs without moving arms at all! Will have to video it - £250 guaranteed!

He's also following in footsteps of ds1 in his love of pink and necklaces. Pinched his keyworkers jewllery at nursery today and they say he is always attracted to pink stuff (will please dh - think he was hoping for one lad in the family - will have to make do with football mad dd)

Gill - do you feel all clever now with your teeth (every cloud and all that) - mastermind here you come

snotdroolanddirtybums · 26/11/2008 18:53

....hello ladies

hope you are all well. ive had a quick scan through but only really caught ukis news so congrats, hope your feeling well.

ds3 hasnt been good. he had a videofluroscopy done 2 weeks ago that showed hes aspirating which explains allthe chest infections hes been having, his doctor was out to the house all weekend because hes concerned about the noise in his chest just waiting on the hospital getting in contact with me to sort out an xray. hes also been given 2 inhalers and steroids. feel like im going round in circles with the docs. doctor also wants peads to have a look at him. im getting frustrated lol just when you feel like your getting somewhere they throw something else at you......wow sorry for just landing on and offloading like this.

put the xmas tree up tonight and my ds1 is very excited but im trying to explain to him its still a while to xmas!! lol

meandjoe · 26/11/2008 19:32

Bloody hell tasha, your organised! I haven't even thought about my xmas tree yet, it would be waaaay too tempting for Joseph to climb .

Joe was back at the docs today, they think he has flu . His throat is very sore looking apparently and he has a lot of phlem (spelling???!) in his wind pipe but thankfully hasn't gone on his chest. His chest, according to the doc sounds clear but the rattling sound and smokers raspy laugh is coming from his throat. Said he might still be coughing and feeling under the weather for another week or so. Poor little baby, I hate him being ill, it doesn't take him much to be miserable and this has done the trick .

He is still sleeping well but constantly seems tired and been very irritable today but I guess it's understandable.

My uncle has got the flu today too so I am feeling very guilty as we took Joe to see him on Thursday the day before we knew Joe was ill.

He has eaten though but not much for him. He seems to have gone down hill a bit today but doctor didn't seem concerned, doesn't stop me from worrying though!

Tasha, you must be very worried about ds. Is he still fattening up?! Hope they find out the problem and fix it quickly for him.

I am very of all the organised people who've done their christmas shopping! I have got a few bits for ds and me and dh know what we want for his main present as we saw it in a catalogue a month or 2 ago but now we can't remember which catalogue it was in so we will have to traul through them all again. Haven't even thought much about anyone else although we don't go mad on buying lots since ds as people just tend to buy for him and not expect too many things in return which is nice!

Hope all is well with everyone.

snotdroolanddirtybums · 26/11/2008 22:03

meandjoe- awk bless him thats an awful thing to have i got it 2 weeks ago and im only really getting over it now. couldnt even get out of bed for a couple of days so can understand him being so tierd. hope he gets better soon.

yea im normally a lot more organised but this year ive been sooooo busy christmas has creeped up on me. i havent really got many presents just the tree up. but ive so far got ds3 a box of musical instruments, one of them activity cube thingys and a walk along that changes into a ride along. ds2- the sylvanian family cannal boat and a family, a shape sorter bus, a pepa pig bus and figurines. ds1- box of lego, spaceship, skateboard. between them all a table with train track on it. im finding it quite hard to decide what to get ds1 and 2.

ds3 hasnt been weighed in a long time but hes eating well, still quite tiny hes in 6-9 month clothes lol he is supposed to get his injections tomorrow but think ill just get him weighed and wait until hes a bit more up for injections. its fluids that im finding hard to get into him he just hates them and as soon as he sees a cup/bottle he crys.

better get stuck into this assignment...its 20% of my marks.

GillL · 27/11/2008 13:16

Hello. Good to hear from you snot. Sorry to hear about ds3's problems but it's good that he's got the. Fingers crossed things are on the up now. Good luck with the assignment. I think you're superwoman!

meandjoe - poor little joe. Hope he's feeling better soon. He's really in the wars lately.

I'm off to Bluewater with a friend this evening after work. We're going to do some Christmas shopping. I think I've got just over half of the presents so far so I'm hoping I can get most of what's left. Dh wasn't too impressed having to pick up the dcs up tonight I do it every night and never complain. I think the last time I went out shopping without dcs was in July and dh told me that I couldn't spend any money so I'm looking forward to tonight

Hope everyone's having a good day.

snotdroolanddirtybums · 27/11/2008 23:10

gill-enjoy yourself tonight. im not superwoman lol went to queens university yesterday and found out how much work is involved in nursing think it scared me a bit. im so used to being with the kids all the time.

well lo seen doc again today and he said his chest sounds worse so he phoned the hosp again and left a long message. he said he needs more specialist help he doesnt know what to do with him. he vomited everywhere tonight and inhaled some, im sure u can imagine he was very unsettled after that. so gave him some abs which he also inhaled and went blotchy. im taking him to a and e tomorrow cause this has gone on for long enough.

meandjoe · 28/11/2008 07:29

Aww tasha, sorry ds3 is having a rough time. it must be awful for you all. The worry of it must be agonising. I do hope they get him sorted soon. Poor little lad. Let us know how he ges on at A&E.

Joseph seems a lot happier today, he is still coughing but it's not as rattley as it was and he hasn't whinged or cried since he got up at 6, so he must be feeling much better, the last week he's done nothing but complain, scream and moan. He is a typical man when he's poorly!

Gill, at your shopping trip, hope you enjoyed it! I would love to go without ds to do some proper shopping rather than the quick grab and pay that we do with him! I might arrange a trip to Trafford Centre, it's further away but is miles bigger than Meadowhall.

Found out last week that my cousin is pg, really exciting as she had an ovary taken out when we were 12 due to a cyst so has always worried if she'd have problems. We are really close and were almost like sisters so I'm sooo happy for her. I may go to Trafford Centre with her and have a girlie day out!

GillL · 28/11/2008 13:41

tasha that must be so worrying for you. I hope ds3 gets the treatment he needs today. I'll be thinking of you.

meandjoe - lol! Glad Joe is better today. Great news about your cousin Hope you manage to arrange your girlie shopping trip.

Shopping last night was really enjoyable. We went to the Christmas market, which was a bit disappointing actually but I found that they've got a Father Christmas grotto and real reindeer. I was very productive and got 5 presents. I think I've only got 2 or 3 left which I'm hoping to get tomorrow or Sunday. It was so nice not to have to worry about toilet trips, nappy changes and tired, bored, irritable children. My shopping trips are normally like yours meandjoe. I rarely manage to get everything I go out for.

I bought a cosy toes last night. I couldn't believe it was £35! It was only a Mothercare one. How can they cost so much?

meandjoe · 28/11/2008 18:49

Good that you are nearly sorted for Christmas Gill, I have so much to do! Last year Joseph was horrendous, although we tried to make it nice for him. We didn't have anyone round for dinner as it would have been impossible to get anything done and we couldn't go to anyone elses house as Joe just screamed . This year we have invited Dh's parents, my dad and my sister round for Christmas lunch around 2pm so hopefully Joseph will be the gorgeous little charmer he can be (when he's not ill!!!). I have so many presents to buy, it's scary!

He is steadily getting better from his cold. He is still coughing a bit but he seems so much happier and is eating truck loads so fingers crossed he'll be fully recovered after the weekend.

How did Bradley get on at the hospital snot??

meandjoe · 29/11/2008 17:35

Wow, it's so quiet on here I could fart and noone would hear me!

helibee · 30/11/2008 16:22

hi just back from holiday-it was great and lots and lots of snow-when we arrived Callum skidded on the lodge balconey and then steadied himself, turned round to show me how pleased he was with himself and then pcodeeded to slip on his bottom

Uki-BIG BIG congrats on the pregnancy, i'm very jealous but after having been to see the doc last week my progesterone levels are quite low at the moment so he's treating me to see if he can raise them. He also diagnosed me with hypothyroidism!

Conker-hope you and ds are better

meandjoe-hope Joe is better now

snot-how is bradley? hope the hospital did something and didn;t just send him home

blackbird-hope dd's hf&m gets better soon and that ds doesn't catch it

my2-wow at the shopping-i've still got a wee bit too go

Gill-hope the new glasses stop the headaches and that you stop teething soon

lizzie-hope all your family are feeling better
loler-the fact that you manage to read to all 3 makes you supermum! C loves books and if you ask him to read one to you he nods, getsa book and then babbles and shows you the pics and often grabs your hand to make you feel the pages (as his fav books are all of the "thats not my . . . series")oh and he likes topsy and tim too!

Callum can also drink through a straw!?! We gave him dh's drink to placate him thinking that he couldn't drink it and the next thing we see is liquid rising through the straw and Callum saying "yum"! So he's now had his first taste of irn bru

Anyway dh gave C a cold on holiday so i have to go and look after the poorly monkeys (i include dh in that description!!! ) I asked C if he was proper poorly and he looked very solemn and nodded!

helibee · 30/11/2008 16:24

wow mammoth post!

lizzie-dh's cousin is due march 12th so i told her about mumsnet last week-would that make her in your due month?

lizziemun · 30/11/2008 21:12

Yes I am due on the 10th march.

Yes we all better in this house although i had an unexplained bleed last thursday. Am feeling much better now, although my sister had to rush mum to hospital night.

It seems mum has a bad waterwater/blood infection. She now home and my sister at home with her tonight and i go and sit with her tomorrow and try to get a home visit from the docter. We also would like the dr to sign her off for the next 3 weeks which will take her upto when she retires as she is exhusted and needs to rest.

hollytree · 01/12/2008 13:26
