i will coming in to waterloo from woking

SalLikesCoffee · 28/07/2008 10:59

VS - if you take the Oxford tube to Victoria (no idea about how long that'll take, maybe you know?), it's really easy - get off at Victoria, and then take the Distric & Circle line 3 stops to Embankment. Once we know where we're meeting (I assume same place, but in case not) I'll link you walking directions.

Scorpio, if same place as last (Canteen on South Bank), it's Belvedere Rd, London, SE1 8XX. Here's their website: Canteen @ Royal Festival Hall

scorpio1 · 28/07/2008 11:01

do i have to get another train from waterloo?

SalLikesCoffee · 28/07/2008 11:31

Scorpio, sorry, thought you're driving to Waterloo. No, it's about 5 to 10 minutes' walking from Waterloo - I'm walking from there too. As far as I know Waterloo's the nearest station to it anyway (and VS, Embankment very near too - you'll just have to cross the bridge ).

scorpio1 · 28/07/2008 11:32

oh walking is fine Thankyou

Soph73 · 28/07/2008 12:28

Hi all. Haven´t read all your posts. It´s our anniversary today & a friend of ours babysat last night so we could go out. Went for Chinese - very yummy.

Wow, all this talk about ttc, etc. Funnily
enough DH asked me the other day if I´d do it again and I said yes However he was a bit tipsy and when our friend was talking about 3rd children the other day he was adamant we will stick to 2. Saying that we don´t really have the room for a 3rd and there´s no way we could afford to move - or want to for that matter

Our friends are back this evening so it´ll be nice to get back to our own house tomorrow. DH & I have been running around like mad things this morning trying to tidy their house so it (sort of) looks like it did when they left I´ll be knackered by this evening as we were up at 6.30 to get breakfasted, etc before Sam´s appointment. DS1 wanted to come with me but fortunately he can get his own breakfast and get dressed himself so it wasn´t too much bother!

Well that´s my update for now. Hope you are all well. TMI probably but I´m a very happy bunny as my 5 week period seems to have stopped

scorpio1 · 28/07/2008 12:36

5 weeks, goodness!! Glad you got out, i love it when me and dh get to go out. BTW, dc3's are the best

Soph73 · 28/07/2008 12:55

Yes, it was becoming a little wearing!! It was the first time we´d been out since Sam was born so it was nice. I´m sure they are

Sam´s up now so I think we´ll take a walk, mainly because it postpones more cleaning I hate housework - thank god for DH, he´s so much better at it than I am

See you all later xxxx

scorpio1 · 28/07/2008 15:36

wonder how ellies wedding went?? a honeymoon baby ..... wonder where she is?

EllieG · 28/07/2008 16:27

I got married! It was nice.

Tell you all about later x

MadameOvary · 28/07/2008 16:50

Congrats EllieG and MtBR!
(bearmama btw, changed my name)

I have had a nice eventful day here in Scotland, doc's at 10 then first-time Mum's group at 11.30.
DD loved seeing all the babies and hearing all the chatter and was so chilled that she fell asleep on my knee

Afterwards we went to a nearby bar for coffee/lunch which was quite nice (low lighting, big sofas, space for all the prams) but I had to rush of as I had forgotten the health visitor was coming

Nights here have been v hot too - DD is just in her vest but was v. windy last night so neither of us got much sleep.
She nodded off a sort while ago tho so is now in her swinging chair as, while she was happy to sleep on me she woke as soon as I put her down. Poor thing making big effort to settle herself (thumb in mouth etc) but suspect she may be at the start of teething.

Interesting reading all your wishes re more DC's. I dont know if I could. DP and I dont live together and I have no familial support so I may have to reluctantly stop at one. However Ellis has two sisters and a brother so is not strictly an "only".

Anyway have gone on long enough. How is it down South? Always seems more extreme weather-wise down there.

scorpio1 · 28/07/2008 19:04

CALLING SCAMPMUM - Have emailed you

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 11:30

Where's everyone gone? I've got nothing to add, but miss my morning chat!

Ellie, not sure if you're checking, but congratulations if you are!!! Can't wait to hear (and see pics if you don't mind!)

scorpio1 · 29/07/2008 12:02

its so quiet isnt it!

I only have 3dc today, lol. J has gone to nursery until 3

sagitta · 29/07/2008 12:06

Hi Sal, I'm here!

Congratulations Ellie! Hope you had a wonderful day!

We had a lovely weekend. I got a paddling pool which dd1 is obsessed with - worth every penny of the £4 it cost! But we had another casualty to the river - the £40 nozzle of a hose we borrowed from a friend. On the plus side, dd1 found a ball in the river, and a stranger quite randomly gave us a rowing boat!

Finally, my brother and family came over yesterday, the first time he has ever seen somewhere I've lived. But he didn't want even to look around, and just spent the whole time focusing on the kids - (his, mainly) which was sweet but it would have been nice to have had at least one adult conversation. Him and his wife didn't ask once about A - nothing. Their two ds (twins) are the same age as dd1, but seem much younger. But sil told me that the boys don't tantrum 'because we talk everything through with them'. And they are totally potty trained, no longer have a lunchtime nap, and sleep in beds. (none of which applies to dd1). So I am now feeling totally inadequate, wondering whether I should take dd1 out of nursery and give her as much attention as they do with their boys. But I know I'd go completely mad. So now I just feel really guilty. But I know dd1 is happy, and even thought she can't pee in the right place, at least she can speak well and doesn't hump the floor while playing with herself, (as the boys did) . Sil said: We think its really sweet when they play with themselves.' I know its normal, but I have to admit I'd probably try to discourage it.
It feels strange when you have a child exactly the same age as someone else, and the results are so different.

scorpio1 · 29/07/2008 12:09

Sagitta - don't worry, every child is different, as is every parenting style. How old is your dd? They sound quite pushy to me tbh. And i discourage playing with yourself infront of people - in private fine but not openly!

Ignore it/them.

VictorianSqualor · 29/07/2008 12:09

Tantrums are good sagitta.
It means your child is happy to express themselves
DD was a tantrummer when she was about 2ish, but I just ignored them, With DS1 I just say 'Can't understand what you're saying, talk to em when you're calm' and leave him to it.
He still tantrums though! It's just what kids do to express the huge range of feelings they are having that they don't understand/can't control.

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 29/07/2008 12:11

I never mention playing with themselves in any way other than 'put it away, I don't want to see it' because I don't, that's it.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 29/07/2008 12:12

i just say get your hand out of your pants, lol. jamie is a big willy-fiddler

Soph73 · 29/07/2008 12:20

Morning all, congrats Ellie Well, our friends are back so we´re off home soon. It´ll be nice to be home, although now I´ve got to go and clean up another house - yuk. Also means no computer so will have to make myself go to the internet cafe a couple of times a week to catch up with you all. It´s been great chatting to you all again.

Hopefully I´ll be back soon. Enjoy

sagitta · 29/07/2008 12:26

It's been nice having you around again Soph!

Thanks for confidence boost! I wonder actually if, as dd1 seems much older somehow than her cousins, despite all the advanced things they can do, they just haven't started tantrumming yet. I hope they do [evil sister emoticon]
(All of them are 2.7)

sagitta · 29/07/2008 12:28

SIL was perfectly happy for boys to do a serious 10 minute naked humping of floor, with hands on willies. Weird, if you ask me.

scorpio1 · 29/07/2008 12:35

a little odd IMO too....to allow it especially with guests.

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 12:43

Hey, good morning all!

Sagitta, I'm sitting here cracking up with laughter. I'm sorry, but your sil sounds like a nutter to me. Fair enough, for all I know R might end up as some weird little, uhm, self-entertainer, but not publicly if I can help it! I had two brothers and never, ever saw them playing with themselves, so I'm sure my mom discouraged the public display like Scorpio and VS as well, lol. You're a great mom with a happy dd, so just ignore her.

I've had a really quiet morning so far, as Roelof's been sleeping most of it. I wonder why he's so tired (he's healthy and eating fine btw), but is not complaining, as it gave me a chance to do loads of house work that I've been ignoring the last couple of days.

Soph, hope to have you back soon, was great chatting.

Hmm, spoke to soon, little mister waking up! Back soon!

theirmum · 29/07/2008 13:07
