hi i remember you!! sorry to hear u were poorly, its terrible isnt it

how are your dc?

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 13:31

Hi theirmum! Glad to hear you're feeling better.

scorpio1 · 29/07/2008 13:40

mimi hasnt pooed since saturday evening...

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 13:52

Is it annoying her, Scorpio?

scorpio1 · 29/07/2008 13:54

no, she seems normal. lots of wet nappies too, she must a belly full, lol

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 13:57

I read that for a breastfed baby that's ok as long as they aren't in any discomford. If it's bugging her, you might try the following (hmm, can you guess I've been through a couple of these lately?):
tummy massage (clockwise)
"cycling" movements with her legs
warm bath
1 spoon of brown sugar dissolved in some lukewarm water
I normally try them in that order, as he likes the first ones anyway, so I reconed it can't do any harm. As you only breastfeed, I'm not sure about the sugar and water one - maybe someone else knows.
(Oh, and then, if she's like Roelof, take cover)

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 13:57

oh sorry, x-posts

just take cover then, hehe

scorpio1 · 29/07/2008 13:59

i thought about doing the tummy thing after her bath tonight, just to help. normally her poos are quite big anyway....

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 14:00

With the fewer nappies lately, I'm kind of tempted to try cloth nappies. (But am a bit of a whimp, so will probably not do the change just yet.) It's just, every week, when I look at the bag full of disposable nappies, I feel so guilty! But then, after a really "bad" nappy, I'm so glad that I can just close it up, bag it and bin it.

Mum2BabyRoo · 29/07/2008 14:26

Hello all! CONGRATS Ellie!! Can't wait to hear all about your big day!

Sal - I have tried the sugar in water one before and it works - but only give it early morning - I gave it a little later and it made Gigi a little hyper!

Hi thiermum - welcome back and glad you are feeling better now

I met Carey87 yesterday - she is really lovely and her LO is adorable! She might come to the next meet up which is good!

Went to see a specialist today about vertigo which I keep getting - going for a MRI scan on Monday, which I am dreading as I'm a bit claustrophobic...

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 15:06

Mum2BR - hmm, I'll keep the "morning sugar" in mind. I'm quite rubbish with details, so can't even remember if it gave him a boost! Better be safe and rested though...

Good luck with Monday's MRI. Well, just see it like this - it might be a little uncomfortable during, but it might make you feel better long term. Will think of you all day Monday (won't be posting, as away for long weekend then).

I'd like your opinions on a Christening gown for Roelof, please. Feel free to be brutally honest. Christening thread

Mum2BabyRoo · 29/07/2008 17:11

Where are you getting R christened Sal? And defo go for a christening gown for him! He will still be a baby so will get away with it.

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 17:29

In South Africa, M2BR. DH's dad is a minister and as R has his names, I think it should be really lovely. But we have to wait for his SA passport first, and they "lovely" people at the SA home office can't tell us when that will be. They estimate end of August!!! So we'll probably go end of Sep for 2 or 3 weeks (I'll most likely stay a week or 2 longer than DH, although he doesn't think it's a great idea )

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 17:39

OH, I forgot to tell you: Our cats caught a big ugly squicky (yep, it squicked!) frog last night. Urgh!!! Obviously brought it in as gift!

EllieG · 29/07/2008 21:35

Hello ladies!

Hi theirmum, fab to have you back. Sorry you've been having a hard time, have a gentle and reassuring hug from me x

Will put on photos of wedding when can find some flattering ones - am REALLY wishing had had a bit more will power and lost more babyweight as I look like a Big Girl in them
But that aside, was fab day, just small, but all my dearest friends and lovely food and lots of wine and best of all, a babysitter for the evening so could enjoy it! Molly got christened at the same service, and she was so good and smiley and lovely. So she's all legit AND going to heaven. Which is probably good.

SalLikesCoffee · 29/07/2008 21:38

Ellie. Congrats again, that sounds lovely!!! Can't wait to see the pics.

VictorianSqualor · 30/07/2008 09:27

Congrats Ellie. Glad it went well.

How many of you are getting LOs christened? We haven't done it for dd1 yet (DH doesn't really approve), but I think I'd quite like to.

SalLikesCoffee · 30/07/2008 12:40

Sagitta, do you think your DH would object, or is it just something that he's not particularly keen on doing, but would be ok with?

VictorianSqualor · 30/07/2008 13:08

I am getting Alex christened, the other two were done a few years ago as a joint ceremony.

With Alex it's both for the religious views and the introduction to the family. Extended family will be there that haven't yet seen him, and it will be a celebration of his birth, it wasn't the same with DD&DS1 as they were older but a good day all the same.

How disapproving is DH? I know some families that weren't particularly religious but one partner was pretty vocal about how they wanted the christening just to introduce the child to the family so the DH's kind of went along with it.

OP posts:
sagitta · 30/07/2008 13:14

Yep - its partly the religious aspect, but probably mostly the introduction to the world that I'd like. DH would agree to some sort of blessing, but not in a church. (We couldn't get married in a church either.) So I just haven't worked out how to do it, or where, and don't even have a solid enough 'why', iykwim....

VictorianSqualor · 30/07/2008 13:16

My friends DD was blessed in a 'naming ceremony' at the registry office.

OP posts:
sagitta · 30/07/2008 13:18

That's an idea.

scorpio1 · 30/07/2008 14:35

none of mine have been christened - dss has but only becuase his mother wanted a party

DH has taken the day off and i am making him do lots - he has already said he cant believe i do this, lol

Mimi finally pooed last night - OMG it was massive, lol.

Not much else to report here.

Still trying to find scampmum...

VictorianSqualor · 30/07/2008 16:11

Scorpio, DP is home for he next couple of days.
I may sit on my arse all day and show him just what the house looks like when I don't do anything....
