LadyBee · 16/08/2008 12:47

It sounds like you're doing what I'd do too - not that I'm an expert, but if I was trying to do what you're doing, I think I'd do it that way. IYSWIM.

EllieG · 16/08/2008 12:50

Thanks scorpio glad you said that about 3rd day being worst - it so is! She wouldn't sleep at all this morning and was yelling massively. Little bugger

EllieG · 16/08/2008 12:53

Ta ladybee x

EllieG · 16/08/2008 14:26

Argh she's crying again [Ellie goes slowly mad]

Denny185 · 16/08/2008 15:19

Would agree Ellie, cold turkey is probably less confusing for her but a bit of a shock to the system. If you think shes getting v distressed I would go in but not otherwise. Hopefully by Scorpio's rule thing should start getting better tomorrow.

Well in-laws have gone (after inviting themselves to stay), my FIL is a royal pain in the butt and the last 3 days have felt like a fortnight! MIL is great by herself but the pair of them together are bloody hard work, feel like have have just run a hotel for the duration.
I dont know if its just me having unrealistic expectaions but I kind of think if you have prepared/cooked dinner everyone else should wash up, they however seem to have other thoughts so I have spent the last 3 days doing lots of cooking and clearing up.

EllieG · 16/08/2008 15:23

Don't know what you're moaning about denny, it's not like you've got anything else to do

scorpio1 · 16/08/2008 15:24

strict rule here - i cook, he does dishes

Ellie i emailed you

Denny185 · 16/08/2008 15:43

I know I just sit on my arse twiddling my thumbs all day

scorpio1 · 16/08/2008 15:45

so do i. drinking lukewarm tea and watching telly!

dh has taken J out just me & M at home; R is at his dads all weekend (for a change)

having marinated salmon for dinner, yum.

scorpio1 · 16/08/2008 15:46

M slept 930 - 830 last night fed at 830 then slept 9am - 1045am!!

thats last 2 nights now.....fingers crossed she is back to normal now.

EllieG · 16/08/2008 15:48

Yes, cos 4 month old babies practically look after themselves.

I want lots to eat today. I have a hangover.

Scorpio - have replied.

scorpio1 · 16/08/2008 15:51

Ellie

EllieG · 16/08/2008 15:51

Can we swap babies for a few nights scorpio? You can get Mol sorted and then I'll have her back when she's sleeping through

scorpio1 · 16/08/2008 15:52

lol

you will have to pay postage though

EllieG · 16/08/2008 15:58

Fair 'nough.
Am going to put baby tv on now and have cuppa cos she's woken up.

[lazy mummy emoticon]

SalLikesCoffee · 16/08/2008 17:49

Hello all. Ellie, you've got guts, I have to say! Hope tomorrow will be all easy going to give you a break. I read somewhere once that "posh" moms gave their babies muslins to play with / suck instead of "common" dummies. Not sure whether that's rubbish, but sounded somewhat more soppy to me

Denny, glad you survived. I think there should be a strict rule that no visitors (especially inlaws, nice or not) are allowed in the first year unless they actually make your life easier. I had this conversation with dh after the extended il stay. Never again.

lol at scorpio and ellie's babyswop. hehehe, you could sell the tv rights and all.

Have spent the day in Bluewater trying to buy clothes. I hate clothes shopping with a passion. Ended up buying dh 4 nice shirts, but only two things for me and that wasn't even what I was looking for - more so that I could at least show something for the trip. Seriously consider nudism, but worry that it might be classified as a crime against humanity...

Roelof slept 8 to 5:30 last night!!!

Denny185 · 16/08/2008 18:48

LOL Im posh then as DD2 has a muslin and DS has muslin with some ribbons sown on

Sorry about your unsuccessful shopping trip, I too hate shopping and subsequently tend to live in tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts. You were v brave doing blue water on a Sat it must have been heaving.

SalLikesCoffee · 16/08/2008 19:10

Hehehe Denny. Sorry you have to mingle with us "commoners" I've wondered on the muslin thing (not because I'm aspiring to poshness, sadly rest of the place is in too big a mess to even try and pretend...), but because unlike a dummy, I assume they can find it again themselves. Do you just give them a muslin and let them chew away etc? The ribbon one sounds pretty!

Bluewater was horrible, yes - heaven knows why I thought it would be a good idea this morning. From now on only online shopping, and only if I really, really have to (which I have to now, because I only have suits and maternity wear )

scorpio1 · 16/08/2008 19:12

mimi loves chewing on a muslin, she doesnt 'get' dummys anymore.

SalLikesCoffee · 16/08/2008 19:14

Oh dear no, I'm getting paranoid now...

Peachy · 16/08/2008 19:39

I also spent day shopping- trying to find something suitable for nephews Baptism that allows for BF and isn't OTT expensive and DH likes (he vetoed the waistcoat / trouser combo I liked)

did find a dress eventually but not convinced- it'll have to do though it's the 23rd)

I did make the decision to return to weightwatchers after that though!!!!!!

Denny185 · 16/08/2008 20:30

I find trying to buy nice clothes when your bigger than normal depressing. Went to a wedding the other weekend and managed to find a v cheap outfit, skirt in the sale and top from a cheapie shop. Glad you managed to find something to wear to the baptism Peachy.

Sal DD2 kind of pushes the muslin over her head to fall asleep (I do go in and remove it once she is asleep) aswell as chews it. DS's ribbon one came about as he used to flick the labels on bibs whilst sucking his thumb. I remember being upstairs putting ironing away with no bibs to hand so gave him some clean knickers to play with the label on them. You can get the shop made ones 'taggies', but for muslin size I think they were £16 so we made our own.

SalLikesCoffee · 16/08/2008 21:01

Denny, that sounds great - I'm going to steal your idea if you don't mind. Lol at ds playing with knickers.

Hahaha, between Ladybee's ds for whom I suggested a porn shop nursery outfitting trip (as a joke, before someone worries - but he likes cuddling to sleep) and Denny's knicker-playing ds, let no-one say the April babies are boring!

Peachy, great on getting something both you and dh likes that's also practical for bf and affordable! It's hard enough getting something you like on a normal day, isn't it.

I hate hate hate diets, but will probably have to start doing something about my permanently expanding waistline. I asked dh earlier whether I should buy a bigger skirt or lose weight, then he got this "scared to death" look and offered to make coffee and rapidly ran away, rofl. Guess that's more excercise then. [sigh]

Denny185 · 16/08/2008 21:16

Dont mind at all.

I brought a post natal exercise video a couple of months ago but its still in cellophane, must make more of an effort.

Denny185 · 16/08/2008 21:17

LOL at your Dh BTW
