Have I missed something re knickers?
DS! loves my knickers, wears them regularly, and hides the under his clothes

I agree cold turkey is best, three or four days of serious kick ass better than weeks of wishy washy ness.

eeek!!!

mine do that VS, ds1 took a dirty pair to school once pmsl!

just updated Bas's pictures on ptrofile: now he looks truly miserable doesn't he

VictorianSqualor · 16/08/2008 22:31

Awwww, he looks so grown up!
Can't believe there is only a week between him and Alex.

Peachy · 16/08/2008 22:37

LOL vs- i was looking at the pic of alex and tinking he looked the grown up one!!

SalLikesCoffee · 16/08/2008 22:38

Awww Peachy, he's gorgeous (if only you could do something about his bad moods ). Those eyelashes!!!

LadyBee · 17/08/2008 09:29

I remember seeing those 'taggies' things when I was online browsing ages ago and couldn't understand the appeal, but now that I've seen DS merrily munching on the silky tag of his muslins, a couple of soft toys and his bibs, I'm starting to get it.
He also likes to suck on the corner of a muslin, but I'm a bit squeamish about it because I never know which one (of the five that are always out at once) he's picked up and hate the idea of him using one that I've just done a mopping job with. Am seriously contemplating buying a set of coloured ones to reserve just for comforting.

DS did 8 hours straight on Friday night, 9-5, but no such luck last night, he wasn't that interested in feeding before he went down so roused for a small dreamfeed at 11 and then woke for a huge feed and nappy change at 3. He gets so distracted at the moment, EVERYTHING is worthy of long stares and is way more interesting that silly old breastfeeding

We're off to the baptism of our friend's new baby today. Quite looking forward to it but not the driving, fingers crossed there aren't big delays on the roads. Probably should start thinking about what to wear - BFing does limit the options a bit.

We measured DS at home yesterday and he's shrinking! well, not going backwards but he's not growing as tall as he is round, IYSWIM. He was on the 99.6th centile when he was born, 98th at 6 week check, but now he's at 75th...but still at 91st for weight. Oh well, I guess he'll even out eventually.

I've just realised it's DP's birthday next week and haven't organised anything
Sigh..don't have the energy to think.
Maybe another cup of tea would help.

EllieG · 17/08/2008 12:07

Always good to have another cuppa.

DSD is back from her week away today. Sigh. I am horrid step-mummy but was SO nice having a break (and having DH to myself tbh)

And she is all tired and over-excited and has spent a week being indulged.

Have to go DD crying as tired.

VS you are SO brave. DSD thinks sex to do with pro-creation at moment as far as aware and I never want to see her bits in that much detail. Ever.

EllieG · 17/08/2008 12:20

But I think you answered her question brilliantly, very honest but appropriate.

scorpio1 · 17/08/2008 17:24

vs - you did and said the right thing

mimi did 920 - 830, so appears to be back to normal.

SalLikesCoffee · 17/08/2008 18:19

Scorpio, that's great! I can kick myself for yesterday's bragging, as I think he knows - we were back to 12, 3, 6 last night...

SalLikesCoffee · 17/08/2008 18:19

SalLikesCoffee · 17/08/2008 18:20

Oops, sorry.

Denny185 · 17/08/2008 18:36

, really feel 4 u guys getting up several times a night, i find sleep deprevation the hardest thing about having children. Hope R does a good night again tonight.

VS - so glad my DD hasnt asked anything like that yet, she is 6 but quite young 4 her age IYSWIM think that level of detail would go way over her head at the mo.

Day started really well DD2 slept till 8am, DD1 till 9.30 and DS till 10.15!
We took kids swimming to a fun pool (there are some strange folk in Stoke, saw a guy sporting a rats tail, havn't seen one of them since the 80's. Just thought they may be back in fashion and Im just really fuddy duddy ) all loved it, DD2 v fascinated by the bubbles in the water. We had to come out after an hour and a half though as DS had the squits, thank god we put him in a swim nappy, im amazed they really work! We had only just said that we need to get him some proper swimming trunks too.

Peachy · 17/08/2008 18:40

al bas s in the same routine! drat, eh?

VictorianSqualor · 17/08/2008 18:48

Can I have some help here ladies

OP posts:
LadyBee · 17/08/2008 22:59

have racked poor brain VS, but can't help I'm afraid, maybe something will occur to me tomorrow.
I had a bit of a melt down today - was feeling down this morning, and quite draggy yesterday with a negative shadow hanging over the christening today. Got in the shower and just couldn't stop thinking about the drive I would have to do, about an hour and 15 mins on M25 & M23 (I think) mostly, and the thought popped into my head of how tired I was, and how if I had an accident it would be my fault and how could I stand it if DS was hurt, and that was it, I was sobbing and gasping and shaking. I made it down to where DP was, who was great, calmed me down and said that we could go by train instead, which is what we did.
I don't know whether to be worried about it or not, on the one hand I felt out of control, completely panicked and such an overwhelming response to my negative thought..on the other, to be nervous about driving when tired is pretty rational.
Most of all, I really don't want to let myself get scared of driving completely, so will make an effort to go for a quick drive this week, just to reassure myself (hopefully!)
The christening itself was lovely, but I feel shattered now so must crawl into bed.

SalLikesCoffee · 17/08/2008 23:14

Oh poor Ladybee. I don't know anything about pnd, so not sure if my thoughts complete rubbish, but it sounds to me as if you handled it perfectly. You were tired, and you were worried about the drive and road already on Friday (which is reasonable - we went out yesterday and the one road had delays for hours!) And despite all this, you still went out, just didn't drive. Hope you feel better after a rest, and I'm sure if you do the planned quick drive you'd be fine. Maybe just take extra care of yourself (and shout if you need help or want some company, please) if you feel like things might be getting you down a bit.

SushiMama · 18/08/2008 00:38

Sorry to hear about your meltdown, LadyBee. Hopefully you'll feel better after some good quality rest. Good decision to have a quick drive this week though, so you don't get put off driving completely (kind of like me).

I know it's not the same, but I've kind of freaked out the past few nights. DH is away, and DD has been waking up constantly hence I've been co-sleeping (which DH is not really keen on) whilst very tired. And I keep panicking about DH's feelings ()if I were to suffocate DD. So I don't get to rest well even if I do manage to nod off. And then I get more scared. And so it's a vicious cycle.

On a somewhat brighter note, I think DD has gone back to sleeping through- last night I couldn't sleep at all, sort of waiting for her to wake up like she has been, and she didn't till around 5. (I fell asleep around 4.30!)

VS- I think you did really well with your ocnversation with DD. Jolted me to the reality that I will have to deal with that too one day with DD (unlike if I had a DS and could have left it to DH)

PS: I had no idea about the tags on clothes- I've been cutting them OFF!

DonDons · 18/08/2008 11:05

sorry to hear of your bad day ladybee. i also have days when the black dog comes to visit and suffer with similar thoughts but i think that you did the right thing. i am sure part of it is down to hormones although i am no expert.

dd is full of snot. she was up 3 times in the night as she couldn't breath. is awful - i never have colds so no idea where she has got this from. big shock for me gettingupin the night too as been going 7-7 for weeks now. poor little mite. she doesn't have a temp though so hopefully nothing serious.

sorry no caps- am bfing.

Denny185 · 18/08/2008 11:06

Is everyone having a lay in this am?

We have injections later so galavanting off for us today.

DS is sitting infront of the washing machine as he has spied his taggie going round, he has a spare in hand I guess its just not the same.

Denny185 · 18/08/2008 11:07

x-post DD, have you got one of those nasal aspirators? I was v sceptical but they really work.

DonDons · 18/08/2008 11:09

ooh no - what are they? where do you get them? am trying to manage by catching the stuff when it pops out iyswim! is tricky when you can't tell them to blow their nose!

DonDons · 18/08/2008 11:11

aah have googled - off to m-care this afternoon then

Denny185 · 18/08/2008 11:46

Sorry been cleaning the kitchen, I got one at our local chemist, might be worth a try there b4 you go to mothercare. I use saline drops as well to try and keep it loose and to make them sneeze b4 a feed .
Hopefully will clear soon and sleep can resume.

SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 12:19

Good morning!

Good luck, DonDons.

Denny, is this the 3rd set? R's having his tomorrow as well. He didn't feel groggy or anything after the 2nd lot (in contrast to the first ones), so hoping it gets easier. Let us know how it went later.

Quiet morning here really. Napping, feeding, short play, repeat. Looking at this you'd think babies are a doddle!!!

I'm dithering about whether or not to put an open vote on Am I Being Unreasonable later re tomorrow's jabs actually... When I had to book, I felt a bit down and asked dh whether he would work from home one day and take R in for his jabs, as "I hate it" and don't want to be there every time something horrible happens to him... He agreed immediately, said it's no problem at all, booked and is now taking him tomorrow.
BUT - I am now fine again, and think it's rediculous of me to ask him to go and sit in the drs office in his lunch hour when I'm at home every day.
Oh, no point posting it there, as I'm typing this I know I'm being unreasonable. I'll take him for the jabs tomorrow and rather use his lunch hour for a coffee down the road or something nice. Thanks for reading!
