Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 10:40

Me too scorpio, I've been up all night.
Every hour or so since midnight and he didn't go to bed until 10:30pm, then I got up at 7 with DP to see him off on his first day of training when I could really have done with staying in bed. I'm considering putting DD&DS1 in front of a DVD and taking Alex back to bed.

scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 10:43

i'm the same. keep thinking about giving her a bottle, she has woken up every night for the last WEEK

hv was great, said not to give a bottle if i wanted to continue exc bf.

i am so fucking tired i want someone to help me.

what are you doing to get past this? will this stop?

VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 10:47

I'm not getting dressed or doing any housework and the elder two can look after themselves!

I've also not put him down, he sleeps better if he is on me, for the last three hours we've sat here and MN'd with my boob out and him on my lap, he sleeps for about ten minutes then feeds again. I think he is shattered but with his teething coinciding with a growth spurt he's finding it hard to sleep.

It will pass, soon, it's the biggest growth spurt they have around now which is why people (wrongly) think it's time for weaning.

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 10:49

Do you have any EBM? Could you express one breast whilst feeding from the other? (I know you probably feel really empty but you're not) then maybe DH could take over this evening and you could get some kip ready for the night time?

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 10:49

oh mimi is not having food yet

i wanted to go out for a walk today (feel so fat) but will see. have expressed 5oz so dh can do a night bottle

hv said pretty much same as you. said it will calm down soon.

scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 10:50

x-post

i feel quite full actually which makes me think this will stop soon.....

am going to do one side feed one side express today

VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 10:54

Don't think I could face the outside world
It's one of those days that if I was famous I just know the paps would be waiting.
Hair thrown back n a pony tail, no make-up, an luminous green vest top, grey too short, paint covered leggings which if I had to go out I'd probably team with flip flops
Thankfully it's the school holidays!!

scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 10:58

lol

i have chucked my normally lovely hair back in a ponytail since my shower last night

i have baggy size 12 jeans on and a scabby shirt dress. i have no-makeup and swollen eyes

i am so hot right now lol

Scampmum · 04/08/2008 13:09

hello! good to hear you're all suffering too - DD2 has been growth spurting for 5 days. Having got to (twice!) 6 hours between night feeds she is back at 2.5-3 and with still taking an hour to feed/settle I am getting max 2hrs sleep at a time. This makes me knackered which makes me argue non-stop with DH which makes me have insomnia. Ad nauseam. Not good. Hence why I haven't been on (though have been reading) as not exactly at highest ebb !

Also am not eating curry or broccoli again until finished bf.

Scampmum · 04/08/2008 13:10

ps Scorpio DD2 has woken up every night for the past 15 weeks!

Scampmum · 04/08/2008 13:11

(that was a 'if I don't laugh I'll cry' kind of wink)

scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 13:12

oh my goodness Scampmum Hang on in there. I don't suppose you want to express? I have been even through this growth spurt, even though i feel like a walking milk carton.

Sorry to hear about your DH, are you both tired? Was it you who had the maternity nurse - could you do that again?

Everybody is having a bad time i think. Millie just screamed the house down for half an hour, now has gone to sleep.

scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 13:13

Sorry Scampmum i know others have it harder than me, just when things change for yourself you feel very sorry for yourself iyswim?

SuzeM · 04/08/2008 13:56

Hey ladies, it has been a while since I have logged on here. Sorry to hear some of you aren't getting enough sleep. We follow a routine here and it seems to work as E has been sleeping through the night (she sleeps 7.30 until 10.30 in the evening, and then from 11 until 6 or 7) since she was 10 weeks old.

We are going to Dublin on Wednesday for 10 days so hope her routine doesn't get messed up. Or maybe a growth spurt will hit!

VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 14:00

Alex slept through a few times but was mainly on a 8:30-4 4:30-8 routine, which I'm cool with cos I don't do much except latch him on, go sleep and move him when I wake and he's asleep, but we're at a maximum sleep time of an hour for the last few days, and not even settling with a feed when he does wake.

He's not stopped screaming for the last half hour

Scampmum · 04/08/2008 14:20

Don't worry, Scorpio! I realised just now I had a dream this morning that I had some decaf coffee (instant) delivered in a package and was really delighted, then I noticed it had your name on the package. Decided to keep it as would be cheaper to give you money and buy more than send it to Cornwall. What an exciting and creative subconscious I must have. Having said that, I had an amazing dream the other night about chasing Heath Ledger (dead) around the space-time continuum in a solar schooner trying to reunite him with his lost love (and trying to get as much physical contact with him as possible in the process ).

Things with DH are difficult but I think mostly because I'm so tired and I'm being unreasonable (don't let him hear me admitting that, though ). Compared to loads of partners he does masses, but it seems as soon as he tries harder I just still concentrate on the stuff he hasn't done. He's right - I am really negative. I think it's because I'm a bit obsessive/perfectionist ( you should see my house) and this gets WAY worse when I'm tired/stressed/down, to the point where I have to fight back tears if I'm going to be 5 minutes late for a goal I have set myself i.e. no-one else even knows about it let alone gives a f*ck! I called Relate just because we need to learn how to argue/resolve issues better. He gets really defensive if I criticise him and then he becomes unreasonable. I'm sure it will all be better when I get some sleep and he often tells me as much, but it annoys me when he comes back to every thing I say with something I could do to change the situation, as if because I'm sometimes unreasonable it means I'm always unreasonable, and therefore if I'm angry because he was out until 12.30 on Sat night and so couldn't help me with a horrific night (by 5am had had an hour's sleep) that's just because I'm tired and unreasonable, not because he is an idiot. I'm not being fair, actually, he admitted he was an idiot for staying out that long (and being uncontactable owing to no phone battery)!

I didn't help matters by accidentally getting totally wrecked on Friday but it was great fun!

Re expressing - I was boasting about how much I had in the freezer but unfortunately it all seems rancid immediately on defrosting. DD2 might have had a slightly tipsy feed at 4am on Sat because the milk I had defrosted was clearly off . I am expressing fresh stuff (hard with a growth spurt, though - yesterday 'saved' left boob and expressed 220ml in one go, today boob was same size this am, she was still hungry after right one so put her on left and when I expressed afterwards there was 30ml there!) and DH is doing a 10.30 feed but a) I am finding it really hard to get to sleep at 8/9 and b) it doesn't seem to make much difference to her first waking - last night he fed her at 11 and she was up again at 1.30.

VS, sorry to hear you're having a rough day. I would love to be a fly on the wall when someone suggests baby rice! . So glad you're all better now. Perhaps some higher power is telling you you're too good a mum to be using contraception!

VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 14:36

Scamp, you're seep deprived my lovely.

But sleep deprivation is like PMT IMO.
How many times have you said 'Just because I'm angry and due on doesn't mean it's PMT?'

DP and I had a hard few days last week, really hard but I think we're over that now

Now can someone stop this baby screaming!!!!!

OP posts:
LadyBee · 04/08/2008 14:42

oooh no. Millie, Alex, and Eve are all within days of Benedict...pleeease may the gods of growth spurts accept your sleep sacrifices and not demand it from me & Ben too ... we hadn't slept through, but we have just got early to bed sorted finally, and I'm ok with our one waking a night, whether it happens at 2, 3, or 4 in the morning. Just so long as it doesn't happen at 2, 3 AND 4 in the morning.

Scampmum, I wonder if the curry we had the other night is causing B to be such a stinkpants at the moment - contents of the nappy all seem to be normal but my boy is doing the most horrendous farts these past few days.

VS, get thee into bed and have a lie-down with Alex. The DVD idea sounds like a good'un to me for the other DC. Do NOT for any reason, leave the house. I repeat, do NOT leave the house. Unless you have a trench coat that can be flung over your rather charming sounding ensemble. Or really really need some chocolate to get through the rest of the day

We have been having extremely long feeds in the evenings again. Maybe I'm getting a growth spurt by stealth?

SalLikesCoffee · 04/08/2008 14:48

Hi everyone! Just came back from a break in Bath, which was absolutely lovely. We left yesterday morning, got a babysitter for 3 hours in the hotel while we lounged around in the spa, relaxed properly for the first time again in a while (I'm a complete pain in the ..., I can't relax, it's as if I get crosser and crosser and then explode about something really, really trivial ) Anyway, I'm actually tired but relaxed now, so all is good. I hate it when i can feel myself becoming unreasonable and stressed.

I feel so silly about moaning the other day, you all seem to be dealing with a lot more (and a lot better at it!) Good luck to all of you!

Suze, enjoy your holiday. I wouldn't have thought that it would majorly upset your routine (says the one that has none, but you seem very organised).

Mum2BR, not to worry, could always do again. And you're coming to the London meetup anyway, aren't you?
Ladybee - great, thanks! Thought I'd list it here too as I always forget to check local threads.

Scampmum, hope things will get better soon. I'm amazed anyone's marriage survives a baby to be honest . Or maybe it's just me handling tiredness, stress and the (occasional) mildly annoying DH really bad...
If a possibility, I would highly recommend a spa break, but be sure you get a babysitter for the children. Obviously we won't be able to afford it again soon, but I found it brilliant in that we were "forced" to spend 3 hours just relaxing and talking. It actually took me the first hour just to relax, but after that we could talk again with no rush, no stress, just us.

scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 14:57

VS - Mimi is doing very loud screaming today, she is just crying to sleep - she literally does not want ANYTHING.

HV is seeing me at 11.30 on Weds, i bet she thinks im a right useless cow.

And to think i want(ed) more dc when i cant even do this right

Scampmum · 04/08/2008 15:00

Scorpio!! You are a brilliant mum! You cope so well all the time, don't let one day get you down. Have some chocolate (it tones the stomach muscles, you know).

LadyBee · 04/08/2008 15:01

scampmum your problem with the 'off' thawed milk sounds familiar - heard/read about this somewhere recetly. It's something to do with an enzyme breaking down fat. You can do something to prevent it.

LadyBee · 04/08/2008 15:08

here

I expect faffing with scalding milk before freezing isn't exactly high on priority list rght now, although poss could collect milk into large batch in fridge and get DH to do processing once a day as a way of helping out that doesn't need to be done at any particular time, just done IYSWIM?

SalLikesCoffee · 04/08/2008 15:12

Scorpio, don't be silly, you're a wonderful mom!!! Honestly, I'm not just saying this, but you're lovely and caring and does everything so well! And deal with loads of other things on the side at the same time, I'm always amazed at how "easy" you make things sound (which of course they're not!).

VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 15:32

I feel like Claire Verity today.
I've shoved Alex in the garden.
