VS, sometimes the longer the garden the better

LOL at your growler ladybee

Sorry to hear some of you are having a rough time with night waking/ growth spurts/ teething, hope everything settles down soon. Scamp you seem to be having a really tough time of it, 15 weeks is such a long time to be sleep deprived it's no wonder your relationship with DH is strained, my heart goes out to you.

We went to a wedding at the weekend, lovely to catch up with everyone, some folk were there that we havn't seen since we moved up here 4 1/2 years ago. Funnily enough all of us that have boys between 18months and 3 years opted to leave them home with grandparents/ sitters but all the girls came . My parents brought the DD's some beautiful dresses from monsoon, by 7pm DD1 was in leggins and a t-shirt, the poor dress was at major risk of becoming rags due to climbing on and off concrete walls. DD2 only slept for 2 half hour spells between 11am and 11pm but thankfully was v happy people watching and was angelic all day.

LadyBee · 04/08/2008 17:20

Hi Denny, wedding sounds fun. Little boys are like puppies right? At least that's what my mum keeps telling me.

Sal, your name has made me want to have a cappucino RIGHT NOW. However, I am also in no fit state to leave the house, so will have to make do with something I make myself.
I suspect it is the chocolate stuff on the top of the foam that I really want, though. Have been trying to ease of the chocolate but not doing a very good job. I've definitely developed an addiction.

Scorpio, you are not a crap mum, and can definitely get it right, it's just a bumpy patch - you know yourself that it will pass, it just feels like hell while you're going through it. Maybe you should get out and go for that walk? Just a quick one to get some air and light might be enough to throw off the storm cloud mood?

I'm still working very hard not to be a complete cow to DP. I have discovered I have an 'evil hour'. It's around 9:30-10:30 in the morning, and starts when I get into the shower while DS is doing his early nap. The internal voice starts up with all my resentment and annoyance and 'it's not fair' stuff, and by the time I'm out and dressed I've devised at least three evil schemes to make DP understand just how difficult all this really is and how easy he has had it and how unfair it is that he gets a son with no major life changes whereas I get stretch marks, trauma, no sleep and 90% of the nappies. My latest idea was to make him get rid of the tv. I don't know why, maybe I thought that was a sacrifice he'd really feel . I told my friend this and she reminded me that if he had no tv then I'd have no tv and that this might not be a good thing late at night or during those long feeds.
Still...the evil scheming will continue I'm sure.

SalLikesCoffee · 04/08/2008 17:32

Ladybee, I almost fell off the sofa laughing while reading your last post.

I did all feeds last night, then DH took over this morning when R woke up wanting to play so that I could have another hour or so. I fell back to sleep, then woke up hearing DH say to Roelof: "Well, obviously you're now done with the things of a child. From now on we poo like monsters" (or the Afrikaans equivalent). That was after, apparently, the biggest nappy ever. Half-asleep, I thought it was hillarious! Oh, and yesterday afternoon they were obviously playing too rough, and R puked all over his chin, neck, tummy, etc etc etc. I couldn't help it, laughed uncontrollably. Should really work on my sick sense of humour, shouldn't I?

SalLikesCoffee · 04/08/2008 18:44

VS and Scorpio, how are Alex and Mimi now? Have been thinking of you all afternoon.

VictorianSqualor · 04/08/2008 19:23

He slept for 3 1/2 hours in the garden
We got to eat dinner/talk about DP's first day as a police man/tidy up etc before he woke up so I'm cool.

SalLikesCoffee · 04/08/2008 19:37

VS, that's wonderful news! Sounds like DP's firt day went well then. Fingers crossed for the good news to continue with a good night's sleep.

scorpio1 · 04/08/2008 19:37

VS - good you sound better now

DH came home at 3.30. he cooked, did dishes, run me a bath, did boys and has bathed mimi, so im perking up a bit.

SuzeM · 04/08/2008 19:57

VS and Scorpio, glad to hear you both sounding more cheerful.

Scampmum hope you get a full night's sleep soon.

Hi Sal, funny about Roelof and your DH. Yes, I am pretty organised, it is more that my relatives will think I am too obsessed with Emilia's routine! Although my DH is helpful, he works long hours so I feel that I need to have some structure to the days.

My SIL already thinks I am mean because I don't give her a soother. E is a happy, smiley baby so I don't think she cares. I tried to give her with a soother last week and she spat it out at me!

SuzeM · 04/08/2008 19:59

SIL thinks I am mean for not giving E a soother, not that she wants me to give her a soother. Although it might shut her up.

SalLikesCoffee · 04/08/2008 20:13

Scorpio, good on your DH, and glad you sound so much better.

Suze, you never know, I feel you should try that soother on the one that moans the most

Urgh, DH just complained that I'm on here since back, so good night all. Best wishes to all of a long, quiet night.

Denny185 · 04/08/2008 21:47

Ladybee you are funny

LadyBee · 04/08/2008 22:37

I am feeling very guilty, is what I am.
DP came home with a big bunch of flowers for me today.
I will think better thoughts in future.

SalLikesCoffee · 04/08/2008 22:46

I'm back (obviously). How lovely, LadyBee! Don't stop the evil masterplans now, it seems to work! I'm tempted to join you

VictorianSqualor · 05/08/2008 08:53

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

HOURLY FEEDS, FUCKING HOURLY ALL FRIGGING NIGHT!

And then I've been up since seven to do DP's packed lunch (though he told me not to, I can't let him go off with no food for the day).

Oh, and to top it all off, I have DD's friend here today.

paranoidmummy · 05/08/2008 09:08

i love you all... i thought ds2 had become satan overnight. suddenly just NOT sleeping past 2 days, feeding incessantly and generally screaming his head off - oh the joys... i have almost cried with relief at not being the only one...i nearly took him to the dr not sure what i'd have said... 'he won't sleep, eats loads and keeps crying' ermmmmmmmmm yes pm you have a baby! u wouldn't think i'd done this b4!!! in my defence twas many moons ago... ds1 starting school in sept - sob
sorry for random post, i try to keep up to date but keep getting caught up in everything else going on. hearing aids fitted next fri - scary but i an't wait for his sake.
ps. ds2 is really fat and i mean a real roly poly... i really think he could do without this growth spurt!

paranoidmummy · 05/08/2008 09:09

sorry vs x posts... i do feel your pain

SalLikesCoffee · 05/08/2008 09:43

Good morning.

Big hugs VS and paranoidmummy. Wish there was something I could do, but failing that, thinking of you.

scorpio1 · 05/08/2008 10:26

VS - have you expressed for dp to a bit in the night? I know your pain, hang on in there. Maybe if you want to do dps lunch (i like to as well, its nice) i make it when im making my lunch and refrigerate it for next morning so it doesnt feel like another job iyswim.

Mimi just woke at 5am, and 8.30. DH did 5am feed, she drunk 5oz and fed from me! Went back in her bed and i woke her at 830 to get Jamie to nursery.

A dog followed me to nursery today; had to ring the dog warden. it was soaking wet had obv been out all night.

R is currently throwing a wobbly cos i wont let him play the wii - i wanna watch this morning!

VictorianSqualor · 05/08/2008 10:38

No, DP is working his bollocks off with this training thing, he's coming home and immediately after dinner reading going through his work books etc so I've been doing it myself.
I've had a text from DD's friends mum, she isn't coming today so I can go back to bed if I want to a bit later.
I'm fine anyway tbh, nipples are a bit raw and I'm tired but coping. I'm still smiling

Oh, I forgot to reply to your email, doh! He gets his full uniform in week 4 and has to wear the whole thing (shirt, not t-shirt) daily during training.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 05/08/2008 10:44

ahhh, i see, he sounds very busy already. dh's work is a bit slack of late so easier for him to do more. Try and get a rest

lol @ you telling me about dps uniform

dh heard back from fire brigade - they said he cant offer high enough cover - they need day too which he cannot do. if his cirumstances change they said to ring was v proud of him.

scorpio1 · 05/08/2008 11:27
