goodness me miss a few days and lots to catch up on HELLO MRSMC really nice to hear from you.

Charlie doing well eating 3 meals a day. In fact last couple of days ate a few lumpy things yesterday she had a rusk or bit of toast which she gummed down and today ate a few pieces of chicken out of my sandwich.

Am finding that if you mix the veggies at lunch with some milk and cheese she likes it much more.

organix muesli with banana and apple is quite good for brekkie.

charlie still sleeping straight through night still.

no moving at all here but talks nearly all day, no teeth yet but i fear some are on the way.

manic weekend of business

also i went out thursday night and friday night whils dh looked after charlie so early bed for me tonight.

thanks for blooming marvellous tip need to buy highchair any suggestions

Housemum · 27/07/2008 22:57

I've bought a Tripp Trapp for longer term use as 3 kids and only 4 chairs at kitchen table but best highchair I've used is my Ikea Antilop at about £13 - we paid an extra £5 or £6 for the tray. No seat cushions - they are a pig to clean anyway. If you go to someone's house you can click the legs out to put it in the car easily. It's the one they have in their restaurants - you can get them mail order if you're not near Ikea, but don't think you can get them with trays mail order.

justkeepswimming · 28/07/2008 05:24

hey mrsmc, welcome back where did you move to?

up at 4.30 again here with ds2
the last 2 mornings i have fed him, put him back in cot, then just gone in to 'shush' him and he has gone back to sleep.
was planning to try just shushing him today and not feeding him, but dh woke up (he NEVER wakes up!!!) started huffing a bit, so i brought ds2 downstairs, of course no point in shushing him now so fed him
now ds1 has woken crying, at 5.15 when he only gave into sleep at 8.30 last night. not enough sleep all round....

ds1 gone quiet now, he's not allowed out of his room till 6 but can't see we can all last that long.
gawd i hate mornings!

mixedmama · 28/07/2008 09:52

How freaky that we just spoke about MRsMc the other day.

Welcome back - I think you were moving to spain.

Hello to everyone... our infections seem to be clearing up and i am back to work tomorrow until thurs when we are on holiday.

simpson · 28/07/2008 10:45

Are LOs born with a built in radar? Right mummy hasn't eaten she is just about to, so I'll start to scream. Grrr...

madmouse · 28/07/2008 15:01

Nathan made me laugh last night. Gave him a nice cool bath, cuddled him before bed, he stood up in my lap, bum in air, grunted a bit. Hey, nice solid poo. Back to the bathroom, bottom washed and back to bed. Next feed, holding him upright to burp, sticks bum in air, grunts, does another nice solid poo, feels sooo chilled, puts head on my shoulder zonks out. Wakes up on his changing mat with this astonished look on his face. Mum, you are not washing me again!...baaaaaaaaaaah, until he was back in bed. Poos are like buses here

Bought an ella's pouch to try after nap. Hard fought nap, he had no intention to go down.

Am going to aquarobics at 9pm tonight, late I know, but it is the time that Nathan is reliably asleep.

hope you all keeping cool!

Amani · 28/07/2008 16:04

Hi Mrs Mc - nice to see you back - missing your legendry postings!

Simpson - agree with you compeltely. Don't think I've had a meal in peace for months - always a drama, crying, baby/toddler wanting to sit on my lap....

Hello everyone else - DD2 eczema has return so had a hard few days again...

simpson · 28/07/2008 19:21

Amani - Sorry to hear sbout return of eczema. Must be awful in this heat

DD now absolutely refuses to eat my purees Have got loads of it in the fridge. Am going to resort to mixing it with jarred stuff and ella's kitchen till its gone. Wasn't planning on making anymore after that anyway as hoping she will be able to feed herself finger foods. Keep offering her finger foods each day and today she had a lick of a grape and a chomp of a breadstick

Madmouse - first real poos here today 2 straight after each other. Gave DD ella's kitchen pouch the green one it looks the most vile puree almost black but of course DD loved it

Hi to everyone else

madmouse · 28/07/2008 19:57

Simpson, the spinach, apple and swede one? Nathan had that one too and for him he ate a lot of it (about a third of a pouch though, not as much as yours).

There seem to be some really good eaters on here. I am curious whether they are generally the big and bottlefed babies as opposed to my fairly small and breastfed example (Nathan weighed in at 14lb two weeks ago). Any ideas?

nicky6 · 28/07/2008 20:07

charlie was nearly 17 lb a couple of weeks ago so not that huge.

Went for a mamas and papas high chair in the end and bought one of those material ones you can take out and bought a baby door bouncer with 40% off the whole lot was £85 not bad i thought.

Question - charlie had cod and vegetables with cheese sauce today - i put peas in and wish i hadnt as it made it a bit hard to eat. As she was hungry i was giving her bits of whole food whilst it was cooking she ate a few bits of cheese and some cod - it is ok for them to eat lumps of things. she actually ate half a banana out of the skin the other just chomping it down - quite lumpy i assume thats ok??

Very hot and charlie's head very itchy cradle cap/ possible excema me and dh both suffered as kids .

anyway hope everyone well apparntly the forecast for london today was rain and thunder storms

lilyloo · 28/07/2008 20:32

Hi all (esp Mrs Mc )

Well lot's of days out in the garden here too am glowing

DD's exczema flared up again here too Amani which makes for more unsettled nights

On the weaning front we pretty much leaving the purees behind now and she having chopped up whatever we are having and she seems to be managing fine. She is now rolling front to back half way across the room and is also sitting too. It is flying by i can't believe it!

Hope the weather holds as i have just ordered loads of food from butchers for dd's christening barbecue on Sunday

Sorry for lack of personals but it so busy here with school hols i am just short on time take care all

Madmouse - Thats the one DD managed about a third too which is average for her for one meal. I think she prefered the peach one she has yesterday as she ate pretty much the whole thing. Last got her weighed on 18th July and she weighed 14 lbs 6ozs. She is ff though. Bf is more tailored to individual Lo's needs so maybe less need for solids yet?...

Am v impressed with everyone who is starting to give a few lumps. We are a looong way off that

Oops - went to get drink and did not realise I had already posted message

lilyloo · 28/07/2008 21:31

Ladies help any good punch recipes and/or cold pasta/potato/rice salad ones too please

OP posts:
Kelix · 28/07/2008 21:45

My DD demolishes the Ellas pouches (any flavour) and still wants more!! She is not so little now tho, not been weighed for ages!

She even a had a little lunchbox thing from Asda today which had cheese spread buttys (two tiny ones), a little youghurt, a banana, juice (kept that til she is older - she had water - cruel mummy) and some little pizza bites things that she gave to her big cus as I dont think she is quite ready for them yet

lilyloo - I do a cold tuna pasta (not very adventourous but seems to go down well) basically just pasta, usually spirals, tuna (from a tin ) salad cream, mayo, sweetcorn, black pepper, a little vinegar and chopped up cherry tomatos and sometimes cucumber. Its great cold we usually just make it as a snack when feeling hungry but cant be bothered to cook.

simpson · 28/07/2008 21:53

Lilyloo - How about this one?

Crunchy salad
cook 250g of pasta (looks good with multi coloured pasta if you can get it)drain and keep slightly warm.
Then seed and chop a red pepper and cut a 7cms piece of cucumber lengthways. Then cook 60g of sweetcorn kernels, spring onion (having been chopped obviously) Then bung everything into a serving bowl together with 8 cherry tomatoes quartered, 25g pine nuts,25g sunflower seeds, 2 tbsp mayo,3 tbsp natural low fat bio yogurt Hey presto Done!!! (Can add sliced celery if you want)

Do this salad dish quite a bit Think this serves about 5/6 BTW.

Have got receipe for potato & ham salad if you want

gingeme · 28/07/2008 22:22

Evening ladies.
Have discovered two tiny bits of top teeth poking through today could explain the nappy rash and bad temper.
Hes been sleeping through till 5.30am which is great except he thinks this is getting up time I got him up yesterday morning while dh slept and dh got him uo today while I layed in. Hope he can squeeze a bit longer soon.
George also eats loads. In fact ds4 was eating a banana today and he was nearly crawling up him to get to it
He loves all the jars and purees I'm giving him. Tried him with a lumpy jar the other day. It was so funny watching this pea pop out I pushed it back in it popped out again I pushed it in and it popped out again so I gave up. Tried him with a Tommee Tippee cup today with some juice. He wasn't sure what to do with it and kept pushing it out with his tongue. Will try again tommorrow.
Sounds like your all doing well.
Oh don't know if I mentioned but dh has been diagnosed with high cholestarol so weve chucked all the 'bad' things out. I'm doing the diet with him as a bit of moral suppport and I jave actualy lost 2lb so has dh

madmouse · 28/07/2008 23:00

Just back from aquarobics such bliss, I am all glowing. Please remind me of this tomorrow when I will be moaning about pain ev erywhere

Having picked the time so that lo would be asleep lo was not asleep so had to leave him with dh and hope for best. luckily dh managed fine, weathering nathan's entire trick box (smile, giggle, coo, look questioning, crank, try to play, cry, smile etc). He woke upas soon as I came in so had had little more than an hour sleep so far . Oh well, may get a lie in

Night all

justkeepswimming · 29/07/2008 07:23

well done madmouse - hope not too achy today

and well done gingeme on the weight loss hope dh is losing some too. good news on the teeth

we are on a sort of diet, well dh is on one as he has a fair bit to lose for him!
i am not dieting properly as still bfding but still losing some weight too (hooray!) as ds2 is dropping feeds slowly. prob down to 5 or 6 a day plus one at night still.
was 4.15 last night and he went back to sleep thank goodness.
we were awake at midnight with the thunder and lightning, was v ferocious!
and awake on and off hot or cold depending on where the sheet/duvet was.
ds1 not up till nearly 7 today must be near a record for him.
so a slow start here.

ds2 is 18lbs2, got him weighed on thursday. he's still bf, has something to eat 3 times a day, mostly blw, tho i do spoon-feed him yoghurts and fruit pots.
may try an ella's pouch if we get stuck somewhere out.
tho at a party at the weekend he had:
tomato, potato, and chewed on some cheese sandwich so that was fine, and easier than spooning something in.

he can drink from a tommee tippee cup now, and can sometimes pick it up properly himeslf but mostly needs a little help to tilt it.

lilyloo - good luck with the planning/cooking for the bbq and christening. think it may be cooler but still sunny which should be nice.

amani -sorry to hear about the eczema coming back (and lily too), must be awful in the heat we've been having.
ds2 has patches that flare up and down but really nothing major. sympathies.

ok, breakfast time

lilyloo · 29/07/2008 08:25

Thanks ladies
do you think i could make up the pasta dishes before the service at 12 and then cover them to eat when we get back ? Or are they best done fresh ?

OP posts:
betterhalf · 29/07/2008 10:11

Well done on the diets ladies. I could really do with shifting some weight, just need to get myself motivated.

I'm going to take Toby to be weighed at clinic tomorrow. Haven't been for ages so it should be interesting. I've gone and lost my Red Health Book. Do they just replace it do any of you know? I think it got chucked out with a load of paperwork DH was sorting through! DH reckons it will turn up but I have had the house upside down looking for it. Quite sad I've lost it actually as it's a record of how he's progressed.

LaTrucha · 29/07/2008 10:32

Just quickly

MM- I think dd is a good eater and is bf and about the same size as Nathan. He'll get into it. dd ate tons yesterday then refused breakfast this morning. poos also ve numerous here!
