This toilet training lark is exhausting We have had one accident so far today, hopefully he won't have one in the middle of the toyshop. Have to buy DS a new bob the builder hat as his old one got broken in the garden with all the kids playing with it.

(Waves at everyone) Will be back later...

betterhalf · 25/07/2008 12:50

Hello all

Toby is 6 months old today. I just can't believe how the time has flown by and how much he looks like a little boy now and not a little baby. Tooth no. 2 has started poking through now as well.

So pleased to hear about Nathan looking at the leaves and how much that meant to you Madmouse.

Am reading with interest the toilet training trials! Thank goodness its a few years before I have to go through this with Toby!

Have a good day everyone and enjoy the sunshine.

Amani · 25/07/2008 16:03

Afternoon all ...not been on for a while (well a couple of days but have so many postings to catch up with)....Went to Drayton Manor yesterday and can't believe that although my DD1 is only 2.7yrs she was raring to go on the rides for older children. Took her to Thomas Land and she was so in awe and actually believed she was on the island of Sodar..!

betterhalf - happy 6 mth birthday to your LO!

Simpson - well done you with the TT - am so glad I'm leaving DD1 to wait for another 7 weeks until I return to work...yikes I can't believe time has flown....

LuckySalem · 25/07/2008 21:08

Hi everyone

JKS - Congrats on your wii fit age. I want a wii but can't afford it. I have to make do with my dance mats on the PS2!!

Well you're probably all gonna think i'm nuts but i've signed up to be a foster home for dogs so they don't have to stay in kennels till they find a new permanent home.

I don't feel safe in my area after being told by a neighbour that she had a brick thrown at her window and seeing a few other broken windows lately. But we can't afford to move. So I thought a security dog would help but we can't afford to have one and we don't know if i'll be staying home forever so I looked into fostering and the rescue's will help with vets bills and food etc (although we could easily afford the food so we're not accepting that donation)

I also want to get out more and have abit more companionship - I know i've got DD but she's not much company at the mo as she wants to play by herself or hit me!

So there we go.... I'm waiting to hear if we've been granted foster status and will possibly have an 11 month old lab as our first foster!!

simpson · 25/07/2008 21:19

Evening all!!

Well DS is a very happy boy as he is the proud owner of a bright yellow lazy town scooter Went to toys r us to get it today, did not take him in the end as my dad forgot to put carseat in so he stayed behind with DH. On the toilet training front 2 hits and 3 misses. So doing ok for day 3

DD is a cheeky madam, after saying yesterday she has liked all food so far, she turned her nose up at broccoli and potato, not sweet enough I guess Well tomorrow I am going to introduce some breakfast and she has carrot and courgette for lunch. Will see how she gets on.

Happy 6mth birthday to Toby

Amani - can't beleive you are back at work so soon, time definately flying

JKS - woo hoo on wii fit age - you deserve a glass of red/white

Gingeme - Cheers for advice re toilet training. How long have you got your older 2 boys for?

Mixed mama - The toilet training is going better than I thought it would (have probably jinxed it by saying that!!)Nice weather deffo helps and you should have loads of that in Turkey (and the marble floors will help )

LuckySalem · 25/07/2008 21:20

oh I knew I'd forgotten something.. Congrats on the TT simpson

simpson · 25/07/2008 21:23

Lucky - X post. Think its a fab idea to foster dogs You can get out to walk dog etc but if it does become too much hassle you can just stop doing it iykwim. Good luck with getting foster status.

LuckySalem · 25/07/2008 21:29

Thanks Simpson - DP thinks i'm nuts but has said if it's that important to you then ok but he doesn't think its the right time.

So I'm hoping they'll send me a really cute one so I can change his mind!!! lolololol

simpson · 25/07/2008 21:43

Lucky - I don't know if you remember post about my neighbour who was found dead in flat? Well she had a lovely natured dog and I wanted to take it in but on the advice of another neighbour (who has 4 dogs) she said not good for dog to be so near to its old home etc. But I was DESPERATE to have it.

Personally i would also like a cat but DH got real phobia of them and says if I get one he goes If I ever want to get rid of him I know what I have to do. LOL

LuckySalem · 25/07/2008 21:48

Yeh I do remember that - poor lady. I hope the doggie finds a home.

I've got 2 cats (piccies on profile) who are lovely and so loving... They're rescue cats too, I don't think i'd ever "buy" an animal again when there are so many in rescues.

simpson · 25/07/2008 21:59

Lovely pics of cats I want one (stamps foot!!)

My mum has a rescue dog who is the most lovely natured thing ever. She had a rough start in life but has never gone for anyone ever. Great with the DCs too.

LuckySalem · 25/07/2008 22:01

DD got to play with a puppy while on holiday and she loved it!! She couldn't stop giggling at it chasing it's tail etc so I just know she'll love doing this as much as I do. I just hope I can give them to their proper home at the end of it all!! lol

Hey if you want a cat - I can catch one of the strays from round here if you want!! lol

gingeme · 25/07/2008 23:20

Evening ladies.
Just a quickie before bed.
Simpson my big boys are here till 9th August. We have a wedding to go to on the 8th so theyre pleased about that.
Lo sat in the proper seat of the shopping trolley today next to his big brother. He realy enjoyed it and didn't fall sideways once. He was giving everyone big smiles when they stopped to chat to him cheeky monkey.
Right off to bed now.
Night all xxxx

lilyloo · 26/07/2008 09:55

OP posts:
simpson · 26/07/2008 10:15

Morning all!!

Looks like it is going to be another lovely day here again

Am getting very into the painting lark and have painted our garden fence, have started painting our neighbours fence as they are elderly and said i would help. Then when that is done am going to paint the front of the house.

Hopefully DD will let me and be happy to watch world go by from bouncey chair All this painting means I can keep an eye on DS while playing with the other kids as he is the youngest by far and they try and take advantage sometimes.

Tried to give DD some weatabix this morning and she would only eat it with pureed fruit in it, definate sweet tooth me thinks

LuckySalem · 26/07/2008 17:17

Good on yer housemum

Doggie update - Just need to pass a home check then will be having an 11 month old labrador called zebedee for foster!!

LaTrucha · 26/07/2008 19:24

Woof Woof Lucky Salem. Just checking in! Hot isn't it? We're finding teething quite tricky here. Any chance she'll cut about eight teeth at once and be done with it?

simpson · 26/07/2008 20:15

La Trucha - if only

Lucky - fingers X How long would you have to have zebedee for?

DD definately getting into this food lark, tries to grab spoon off me Gave her a mini ricecake today but she didn't seem to know what to do with it so DS took it off her and ate it himself! Going to try sweet potato tomorrow.

DS toilet training not too good today. Think I deserve a glass of wine but I don't drink when DH is on early shift as he leaves house at 3.30am. So will have to wait till Mon night.

LuckySalem · 26/07/2008 20:20

Until they find a new home for him. They want to see how he deals with a home environment as well as so far he has been sent back from 2 foster homes cos he's sooo boisterous but i'm used to things like that and am hoping long walks, games etc will tire him out. lol
I've also agreed to look into training him if I can afford it! lol

simpson · 26/07/2008 20:24

I quite liked training dogs and when I was about 15/16 we had a spaniel I used to take to classes and a couple of shows etc. We did quite well. The dog my mum has now I started to train and wanted to do agility classes with her (collie lots of energy LOL) but got pg so stopped

LuckySalem · 26/07/2008 20:28

Thats what I think I will enjoy. DP doesn't think i'll be able to as DD will take up all my time and I kinda agree but i'm also hoping she will enjoy going out for walks with the doggies and as she gets older playing with them. Also I'm hoping there will be a training class thats not too expensive on a weds or thurs night so DP can have DD for a couple of hours or an hour whatever and I can take doggie to learn something.
