LaTrucha · 23/07/2008 11:50

At least he wants to.

DD is currently refusing her nap. Refusing day naps has only happened since we've been away and I find it really upsetting. I don't know why. Feels like everything is falling apart when it happens. probably because she's well cranky!

simpson · 23/07/2008 11:53

Tell me about it!! DD is in such a bad mood!! She really needs to sleep but try telling her that [hmmm] A long daytime nap for her is 40 mins.

On the toilet training front DS keeps saying he needs wee have taken him up to the loo 4 times in the last 5 mins. Grrr...

LaTrucha · 23/07/2008 18:43

Where IS everyone today?

justkeepswimming · 23/07/2008 18:44

i'm here

but knackered, back later if i can keep my eyes open...

simpson · 23/07/2008 18:58

I'm here too

Well toilet training over for the day he is night time nappy

Will check in later...

LaTrucha · 23/07/2008 19:33

Ah! But DID he pee in the toilet?

lilyloo · 23/07/2008 19:37

Evening all wow very quiet here!

LaTrucha same here with the good first sleep why can't they keep it up all night

Well we made it to park for picnic arrived at 11.30 left at 4.30 but the logistics of watching 3 dc's on a playground toilet runs/watching bag,table/pushing dd1 on swing/getting ice creams etc was enough to wear me out! But dc's had lovely day surprising what a bit of dry weather can do!

I made parsnip and roasted red pepper puree and then made parsnip chips and dipped them in cream cheese for tea tonight and dd loved them !

Well am off the wine so off to make a cup of tea.

OP posts:
simpson · 23/07/2008 19:42

LaTrucha - He weed on the buggy (with a towel under him) while popping round to corner shop to get paper, he weed in the toilet ,pooed in his pants & then weed in his pants. So 3 accidents one success!! But as DH pointed out all accidents were when he was in garden so too ingrossed in playing etc.

simpson · 23/07/2008 20:29

Do you reckon its ok to give fromage frais yougurt to DD? She is not quite 6mths. 6 mths on 29th July. Will 6 days make that much difference? She has not had cows milk yet just pureed veg & baby rice.

LaTrucha · 23/07/2008 21:28

Has she ever had any formula milk - it's based on cow's milk, so should give an indication of any allergic reaction.

LOL at potty training. Bet your washing machine is getting a workout!

Hello lilly! Have you seen this -interesting post by Kirsten towards the end. Perhaps a new book to buy? This way madness lies.

simpson · 23/07/2008 21:42

LaTrucha - she is ff and has been fine since we switched from SMA to cow & gate around 2mths ago.

Washing machine deffo getting workout as DD pooed herself horribly in the zoo yesterday and the changing facilities were not great. Also when I went into town this afternoon another one all over herself Also forgot how much pureed carrot stains

Forgot to say earlier went to Next sale and found a lovely cute dress for DD's christening We have an old fashioned family christening gown she will wear for ceremony but want her out of it straight afterwards so its not ruined. So she can now wear her new dress. Although the rate she is going she will probably poo in it

gingeme · 23/07/2008 22:45

Hi ladies just a quick post as am off to bed.
My new washing machine is fab. Very stylish and very quiet and very good. Makes me want to go out and buy new kitchen appliances to match it. Its silver with a blue door.Zanussi Moon in case your interested.
Lo was real hit and miss with his naps today. Mind you he slept right through till 4.45am but then fussed till about 6am when dh could take no more and took him into the front room so his day started way too early for him and dh which must have threw him off course a bit.
simpson good luck with day 2. The only advice I can give is PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE the successes but don't scold the accidents. Above all be patient. He will get there in the end
Right off to bed. Chessington tommorrow. Can't wait. ds3 is tall enough to go on almost all the rides now. Wonder if he will.
Night all xxx

Kelix · 23/07/2008 23:37

Hello everyone long time no speak Took me ages to catch up but I tried.

Been a busy few days here - my birthday get together was a great sucess with everyone invited turning up which made me happy. Also got b-day cake (chocalate) and flowers delivered from DP whilst he was at work, (1..2..3.. aaahhh) hes a sweetheart.

DD is doing well, still sleeping and eating pleanty, I swear she has doubled in size in the past few weeks! DP says she gets bigger everyday. She has started getting into a crawling position and shuffling backwards so house is slowly but surely being made toddler safe (ie move everything up about a meter) also managed to move in her babywalker (on carpet) yesterday and wont stop triing to stand up when you try to lye or sit her down!

Real poo - yeah got that here too! A bit strange but I think easier to deal with than the runny stuff (I cant believe I just said that lol)

Washing machines - Ours broke just before DD was born and I paniced, then decided to take the dirty washing to my mums We got a new one but nothing as swit swoo as a milee?

Next sale - I braved it on Monday just me and DD, wasnt too bad. Managed to pick up loads of t-shirts, couple of pairs of shorts pleanty of socks. Then ended up spending twice as much on the new lines that they were just putting on the shelves - oh well.

Simpson - Good luck with potty training seem to remember my mum asking me to show my little sister how to use her potty when I was about 7! (cant believe I just said that either rofl) As for ff I gave it before 6 months OK.

Lilyloo - sounds like you had a very busy day out! Love to go for a picnic some time or even just to the park but it keeps raining here.

Gingeme - Enjoy Chessington, never been but herd good things.

Hello to everyone else, hope you are all well. My brain is starting to hurt so I guess I should stop typing now

simpson · 23/07/2008 23:52

Waves at Kelix - Happy belated Birthday

mixedmama · 24/07/2008 08:49

Am about to catch up. We are in hibernation as DS2 has scabies.... Turns out FIL caught it whilst in Bangladesh and didnt get it treated so now my 6 month old baby has it and has impetigo to boot on his cheeks. We have all been told we are to go to work for 7 days and are being treated and we fly out on Thurs next week. So annoyed about the whole thing. Am knackered as well as DS2 is hardly sleeping as he is itching so much.

Sorry to be on a downer, hopefully will have something more positive to say once i have caught up.

LuckySalem · 24/07/2008 09:19

Hi all,

Really feeling for you all with the sleep issues as we are starting to get it again here now.
DD will not nap in the day anymore. She used to be so good and go to sleep from about 10-12 then around 3-5. Now its an argument everytime - she sits there rubbing her eyes and yawning and moaning but she will not go to sleep. It's almost as though she's scared to miss something. It's now starting to effect her sleep.
Last night she didn't go to sleep till 12:15 and was up again at 5:20 [yawn] this is hard cos i'm used to her sleeping from aroun 9 till 6 and it's killing me.

MM - Hope that was a tooth it might help him sleep better. I wish DD's teeth would appear as she keeps pulling at her ears and there is now a nasty cut in the crease.

Washing machines - Ours is currently broke. One of the wires came out of my bra and has ripped the plastic that goes between the door and bowl thingie. Been broke for about 3 weeks am having to go to mum's each week. Looked into getting it replaced and the cheapest we've found at the mo is £50. (Can get a new washing machine for nearly that much - except ours is a built in washing machine so wouldn't really work)

Kelix - Happy belated birthday

I'm really sorry if I missed anyone and hope your all ok!!

mixedmama · 24/07/2008 09:22

Something slighty amusing last night... DS1 went off to bed. An hour later he comes out of his bedroom having emptied a WHOLE little tub of vaseline onto his hair and spiking it up like gel... I had to laugh as i may have cried. Washed his hair (with him screaming the house down)but still really greasy today.

Fragolina · 24/07/2008 11:12

Lololol Mixedmama - vaseline's so annoying to wash off though
Feeling much more cheerful - had a proper blow up at DH on Monday night, poor guy made a silly comment, and I just went off like a volcano. Was actually really good though, as I needed to let things out (although maybe not as harshly as they came out!).
Gingeme - enjoy your new washing machine! We have a Zanussi too and its great - although am with lilyloo in remembering to get one that has a time display next time. Would have loved a Miele but couldn't convince DH that it was worth the extra.
Lucky - wow £50 sounds like a bargain on a new washing machine!
No personals again, apologies - am becoming a rather crap mumsnet friend , BUT I do read everyone's posts...just too sleep deprived to then remember all the things i thought while reading!
Oooh, positive news - DD had first full day at childminder's yesterday, and came back happy and well fed. Have now gotten over my inital misgivings as DD seems to quite like her, and that's what matters.

LaTrucha · 24/07/2008 12:07

We have a tooth! What can I expect now? More pain? More teeth? I haven't a clue.

We had an appalling night, but baby is asleep now - but must dash in case...

Hello everyone!

lilyloo · 24/07/2008 12:29

Qick one from me too
Simpson yes think fromage frais fine now!
La Trucha yeah a tooth expect a few more sleepless nights yet Saw that thread my problem is she does have 2 hourly naps in day and she is never fed to sleep. She always settles herself after going in the cot awake so why does she need feeding in the night
Mixedm oh no poor ds!
Kelix happy belated birthday
Waves to everyone else
DD1 at nursery today and ds just gone bowling with my friend so am trying to catch up on some ironing!
Is it ok for lo's to sleep on their front now ? DD keeps rolling onto it but can't roll back yet!

OP posts:
simpson · 24/07/2008 16:42

Lily - cheers for that she had some today and loved it. She also devoured 2 ice cubes of parsnip with no babyrice mixed in for the first time

DS has only done one wee ALL day which is concerning me. The one he did at 9am this morning was in loo though. He has drunk loads but suspect he is holding it in

DD been good today and has had a 1.5 hour nap at midday and is now having another cat nap.

madmouse · 24/07/2008 20:39

Hiya all

Lovely relaxed day here. Nathan and I spent time in the park under a tree. He looked at the leaves, played and he had a nap while i had lunch. It was very symbolic for me, as I had always dreamed of just this, sunlight through the leaves and stuff and then when they said he might be blind I remember saying oh no he will never see the leaves well, he does .

He ate apple and cinnamon this morning, but was not terribly interested in carrot and potato at 6 tonight. I guess he was too tired. Is it too late in the day? It is just that we then all sit together at the table. Guess I should try lunchtime.

Bargain alert: I bought a Woolworths worthit stick blender for £6, one speed and limited motor power, and perfect for purees. Feeling chuffed. There is a smoothie type blender on my food processor, but that just doe snot work for purees.

Oh, and won a travel cot on ebay, it said local pickup, Coventry. And I am 5 miles out of Coventry, so why does this woman live 18 mies away from me? Oh well. Will manage.

Simpson, hope ds has weed now. i was going to suggest a bath. I think you may still find one or two hidden puddles though. Holding in a number 2 isone thing, but wees all day?

night all

justkeepswimming · 24/07/2008 20:51

am lurking as too tired to keep up properly.
not as bad nights as some of you but been doing too much during the day too.
had a more relaxed afternoon in the garden with boys & dh and hoping for early night soon so may be back on track tomorrow - plus ds1 at nursery so less frenetic hopefully!
got 2 2-yr olds birthday parties this weekend so that won't help!

ds2 loves petit filous too

right, bed calling

simpson · 24/07/2008 22:48

Well Ds finally did a mamoth wee at 5pm all over pants, shorts, shoes & socks then 30 mins later another one.

We are braving it out with him tomorrow to toys r us to get his scooter. Lets hope he can hold it in then.

DD is good and is really starting to get the hang of solids now. Tomorrow she has potato and broccoli the first thing that she has had not sweet tasting so will see how it goes down. She is rolling over all the time now but can't get back yet. We have a plastic sheet covering sofa in the day for potty trasining reasons and she managed to pull it off and drape it on herself!!

mixedmama · 25/07/2008 09:15

Simpson fingers crossed for you. We are started DS1 once we get to Turkey next week. Not looking forward to it.
