jammy, arse about the pay....get on at them though. If no-one complains they are quids in and have no incentive to improve!

foxy...you were in HR weren't you? If you know anything about maternity pay...will the fact that I'm signed off sick for the eight weeks before my maternity leave is due to start mean I'll still qualify for SMP? Is SSP enough to take me over the NI threshold? Am seriously concerned they'll say I'm not elligible!

lackaDAISYcal · 30/06/2008 21:29

where has everyone gone? are you all watching the tennis?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/06/2008 21:32

OK. SO DH got the nappies (all 10 of them) in off the washing line, while I unloaded the dishwasher. He then sat down doing whatever he does while I loaded the dishwasher, cleared up after tea, folded the nappies, got everything except bottles ready for nursery tomorrow and folded up half of the dry washing from the airer. I asked him to help at this point so he washed the bottles and poured milk in them, while I finished folding the dry washing, hung up the wet stuff out of the machine and got some more dirty stuff from the wash basket to load the machine. So why do I feel guilty and bad for asking him to help?

lackaDAISYcal · 30/06/2008 21:35

don't feel guilty jammy......you both work so should split chores 50/50 (says the woman whose DH works fulltime, is away four days a week, and still does more then I do )

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/06/2008 21:36

Thanks Daisy. I will get on at them. They made a right mess of my mat pay so I know they are capable of all sorts of cock ups, and last time I moaned at them it saved me £1300

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/06/2008 21:38

On days I'm at home I feel it is fair if I do a bit more (though DH kindly and rightly says my job then is to look after the jamlet and if housework gets done it's a bonus), but on days we both work you're right things should be shared. I just feel so bad that I have to go ask, it makes me feel like a nagging old harpie!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/06/2008 21:38

Thanks Fairy for the sponsorship!

lackaDAISYcal · 30/06/2008 21:42

I'm sure he doesn't see you as a nagging harpie jammy....i know that my DH does what he sees is necessary but wouldn't think to do other things at all....like clean the kitchen floor or the toilet or wipe any splashes off the cupboards.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/06/2008 21:58

Well...my dp is a useless cock! He finished work at lunchtime today and has done nothing since then. I have been cooking all afternoon, I've made chicken soup and 2 lasagnes (one veggie, one meat) and all the washing up is in the kitchen still because I have been for a driving lesson and had a bath and bathed the dcs and had the bloody cheek to eat my dinner!

The nappies sound good daisy! I'm sure you'll get a few of each type. On my highchairs form it says to use each one for at least a week so you can get a good feel for it. I'm sure that nappies would be the same.

Well done on the win foxy. What you gonna buy?

I can't believe it's 10 already, it's nearly bedtime and I've only just sat down! Crap!

foxythesnowfox · 30/06/2008 22:04

DPs not home from work yet, he's been there since 8am.

am lonely

don't know Holly. Its bebeco. I'm definately going to get one of the cute bathrobes for LO.

lackaDAISYcal · 30/06/2008 22:04

and at least with nappies, they won't make you hand them back

i need to eat but we have feck all in the house and it's too late for ordering a takeaway.

foxythesnowfox · 30/06/2008 22:06

Sorry Daisy, you asked a question, umm, I'm too out of touch I'm afraid. There is a new HR thread with lots of lovely people on it. I wonder if they'd mind if you hijacked it for a post or two?

I just sent you a big long message on FB, but deleted it as was rambling.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/06/2008 22:06

Holly - tell him the story of Hugh King, a man who lived in the village where my mum grew up. The day he retired he said he'd worked all his life so wasn't going to work any more. And he sat on the sofa and that was that! His wife did everything for him, mym mum used to have to take him his beer in the evening (her dad managed the pub), and when he died he was too large to get out of the house without removing the door frame. If my Dad is being a bit lazy, mum just calls him Hugh King and is up and about like a shot!

DKMA · 30/06/2008 22:10

Evening

Well the horsebox passed it's MOT and all I can say is thank f*ck for that!

Foxy - fabo for winning that money - how good is that?

Daisy - great that you had a fab break

Hi Holly, Ria, Andi, Mhd and anyone else that is still about

Jammy - Just this very evening I was having the same thoughts about dh and I decided I might make a list entitled 'Things dh NEVER does without being nagged' some of the items would be as follows:

Wipe down high chair
Wash out bottles after use
Wipe down surfaces (esp after toast!)
Put the iron away
Empty bin
Throw rotting food out of fridge
Throw nappies away (yes he will change a nappy but he will leave it OPEN in lo's room!)
Clean skids out of toilet bowl
Wash hands after leaving said skids in toilet bowl!
Put shoes away
Put shopping away (he gets it allout of the bags and puts it all out on worksurface?)
Shower before bed when he's a sweaty minger!
Make me a cup of tea when he makes one for himself.
Any clothes washing AT ALL.
Spend money without bitching like a harpie!

Oh I could go on and on ...........
Please feel free to add!!

foxythesnowfox · 30/06/2008 22:11

this for sure!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/06/2008 22:13

Hi DKMA!

Lovely dragon, Foxy

foxythesnowfox · 30/06/2008 22:14

PMSL at that list DKMA!

What my DP does:

pays the cleaner.

And I write the cheque out for him to sign!

The list of what he doesn't do is endless.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/06/2008 22:15

DH does do stuff, he's not all bad. I just felt hard done by tonight.

OK, bedtime for Jammy

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/06/2008 22:18
DKMA · 30/06/2008 22:18

Ahh see - I knew that list would make you feel better Jammy!

Does anyone else have to skid check the bog bowl before visitors?
DH just doesn;t see the problem with it but I would just be mortified if any of my friends saw his pooh

lackaDAISYcal · 30/06/2008 22:19

oooh, that dragon is lovely

thanks foxy...I'll start a thread in employment issues. It's only a few weeks away from me telling them when i want to start my maternity leave, so I'll find out soon enough what the score is!

foxythesnowfox · 30/06/2008 22:21

I am going to approach DP with a wad of loo roll and say

"I've just peed on the floor. Mop it up for me, would you?"

Well, I've done it enough times for him!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/06/2008 22:21

My dp is quite good about that actually DKMA. He usually manages to squirt a bit of bleach down to get rid of the skidders, but he doesn't see as far as wiping dripped piss off the toilet/floor!

lackaDAISYcal · 30/06/2008 22:23

lol at your list DKMA.......I think my DH does half of the things on that list without nagging (in fact it's him who nags me ), and he is some kind of weirdy in that he has never, ever in the 12 years I've known him, left any sort of skidmark in the bog....he also has non-smelling poo ..unless he is ill and then it can be a teeny bit fragrant....and he doesn't do smelly farts, if he farts at all! He has the weirdest bowels ever........not that I'm complaining you understand.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/06/2008 22:24

Swap daisy? My dp fucking stinks!
