NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 19/06/2008 20:26

so how would i go about getting someone to visit me at home and show me what im doing wrong? would i have to pay?

LittleMissNorty · 19/06/2008 20:28

Evening all....just popping in in-between throwing up....DD and I had two hours nap this afternoon on the sofa....which made me feel much better and it was lovely to get big cuddles with her (don't get as many these days ) even if she was snoring her head off

I just made Gordon's breaded escalope of chicken with cherry tomato and mozzarella from the F word the other week....it was scrummy...served it with brocolli and sauteed potatoes ....shame I couldn't keep it down ...I wasn't like this last time

Sure you want another Natty?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/06/2008 20:31

Oh yes...please find me a dress! I'll give you my requirements...I want sometime a bit exciting, not black and white; either strapless or full straps, not spaghetti straps; I am a size 14 and quite busty, so nothing too sheer or that I couldn't wear a bra with; and under £50! There we go, don't want too much do I? !

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 19/06/2008 20:31

norty i have never been so sure lol
sounds yummy.. very jealous!

LittleMissNorty · 19/06/2008 20:31

Meant to say Sputnik....hope DS feels better very soon...poor little thing....he's been ill for a while now

lackaDAISYcal · 19/06/2008 20:34

bumper....we did frubes as well

natty, there should be a peer supporter organisation local to you and your HV should know who or what they are. There will also be a local babycafe. you can also call the main helplines and someone would either talk things through in the phone or come to you of you were really struggling. And of course their is MN, and kellymom and a host of other web based support.

Where in the SE are you again Natty?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 19/06/2008 20:34

Hi norty, sorry you are still feeling shitty. You have my deepest sympathy! Hope you manage to keep somthing down, you poor thing.

That Frube test is cool bumper! I love a nice sucky frube!

Natty, your MW or HV will be able to get a BFC to either come to you or arrange for you to see them at a clinic or at the hospital. It is completely free!

lackaDAISYcal · 19/06/2008 20:35

right...back soon holly

Bumperlicious · 19/06/2008 20:36

Norty, god I hated being pg!

Natty a BFC might come out to you, you could pay someone (a lactation consultant). But there might be a local peer supporter who could come out to you. The best bet is to go to your nearest bfing group which your HV should be able to point you in the direction of.

Holly I would love to do BFC training. I've considered it, but want to get settled back into work first.

So Natty, there will be plenty of people around here to help you! The phone lines are actually quite good too. I rang one sobbing once. She was really nice.

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 19/06/2008 20:36

what kind of things would you like to know regarding breastfeeding before you have another baby?
how to deal with a baby that feeds every half hour for only 10 mins at a time? isthat poor sucklng wrong attatchment or poor milk supply?

I think I'd like to be an HV MHC because there are so many crap ones around spouting all sorts of rubbish, I could be a different sort of one!

There is a HV that comes to toddler group that won't even talk to me because I ignored her advice! Ds was 7 months and was still only on 1 meal a day, which was fine with me and him. She told me that he needs to be on three meals a day by 9 months otherwise he will suffer with speech problems. I told her I didn't think he would and we would just carry on as we were. She didn't like that at all!!

Bumperlicious · 19/06/2008 20:52

Just before I go here is a piece of advice from my BFCs 4 year old DD upon answering the phone to a woman needing some help: "I can help you, I know what to do - you do tummy to mummy, nose to nipple, wait for the gape then pop them on" she had heard her mum say it so much that she felt qualified to offer advice. The BFC was mortified but apparently the woman needing help found it a welcome relief!
