Afternoon all,

Hope you and your LOs are well. Things have improved marginally with DD2, instead of being awake for a 3 hr block now, it's been reduce to 1 hour. Think I'm going to start up a thread on eczema support (keep saying I will, but never get a chance) just to see how other mother cope especially in the warm weather - it's the wrap them up so they don't scratch themselves (even if they wear gloves) or let them wear whatever despite the risk of itching themselves silly.

Lucky- thanks for that advise on the creams - think I will try that tonight.

Madmouse - I'd love to try and make a B'ham meet up. Let me know details and I'll try and see what I can do.....

Nicky - enjoy your evenings.

Gingeme - DD2 loves her solids too, especially sweet pots. How many meals do you give in a day? Do you offer anything in between? I give DD2 3 meals and milk for in betweens

Mixedmama - don't worry - I know it's hard to pick the phone up when you are busy with kids. By the way I think when my phone was in my bag it accidently rang you - hope you didn't hear me having a nervous breakdown with DD1 in Morrisons (she thought it would be great fun to rearrange the sanitary towels isle when I realised my phone was going)....

Hi everyone else!

LuckySalem · 09/06/2008 16:40

I hope you get some luck Amani and LMAO at sanitary towel

Aaliyah is having a HUGE sleep at the mo, she fell asleep at 12 and is still sleeping now. I slept with her till about 1/2 hr ago.

mixedmama · 09/06/2008 16:55

ROFL at the sanitary towel thing

LuckySalem · 09/06/2008 19:20

Ladies can I ask - What other health checks do the DC's have to have? Are there development checks etc?

Naetha · 09/06/2008 19:23

Lol at your DD Amani :p

Unfortunately Ben didn't take your advice MM, and is currently doing exactly the same thing in his cot right now, despite only having had about two hours of nap time today!

One thing I'm really gutted about, is that my bladder condition has come back I have a condition called insterstitial cystitis that gives me chronic cystitis all the time (although I'll admit it's not as painful as the bacterial one). I was absolutely over the moon when it went away after I gave birth, and hoped it was gone for good, but since I stopped breastfeeding it has gradually come back, and now it's as bad as it was before

LuckySalem · 09/06/2008 19:33

aww Naetha - Can you get something from the doc to make it better?

susiemj · 09/06/2008 19:37

Sorry about the bladder condition Naetha

My friend had her baby - a traumatic delivery, ending in an emergency c-section. but they're both ok now, thank God. Little by named Oscar James.

I was hoping she was going to have a normal delivery so she could tell me exactly what it was like, but now we can swap c-section war stories. She found it every bit as traumatic as I did - probably more so as she actually did stop breathing during the op. It's made me think about it all again. Scary stuff.

Had idyllic day gardening, pottering, shopping and playing with Sabela, though. So it was all worth it.

justkeepswimming · 09/06/2008 20:21

naetha - sorry about the cystitis

susie - sorry your friend went through a trauma why does it go 'wrong' so often??? at least she has you to swap stories with.

lucky - afaik the development check is around the 8mo mark (some areas are running behind so may be as late as 1yr). it's a weird thing cos you feel like your LO is being tested and you want them to 'pass', in a way it's worth finding out from someone else beforehand what kind of thing they ask, but it can feel like you are coaching them then!
there used to be a 2-ish yr one but most places seem to be dropping it i like my ds to show off and pass!!!

nicky - hope you can make the 24th now?

hi to everyone else

gingeme (and anyone else in a flat) was really thinking of you and your boys today, as we spent most of the day outside, how do you cope on such hot days??? maybe we shd have a southend day out?

ds1 wouldn't nap today boo, on the plus side he went to sleep no probs at 7, will wait and see what time he gets up tomorrow and maybe think about changing it to 'quiet time'....hmm

ds2 still up once a night for a feed, 3.30 for a grizzle, 4.30 for a feed and wide awake, gave up and put him in cot after a bit and he went back to sleep without any fuss. sometimes i wonder if he actually wants to go to sleep and i am keeping him up , then ds1 woke him at 6

had ante-natal friends round this afternoon, one of them has had her 2nd and the other is due next month, when we all have our seconds not sure what we'll do!

so, waffling now, meant to be ironing not on here! bye for now

madmouse · 09/06/2008 20:34

Yay, we have finally done 'it' .

This morning with Nathan talking to himself in his cot next to the bed. I looked up just before the best bit when it had gone really silent and saw two huge eyes . I bet if I start a thread about this I get slaughtered for child abuse. We told him it is normal for people who love each other

Blooming hot here today. Don't like hot. At least Nathan has cooled down. I think a tooth is about to come through, but it is not where I expected it to be will see.

Anyone wants to suggest a date for a Birmingham meet up? Can't do Tuesdays as this will be dh' day off in lieu of Sundays.

LuckySalem · 09/06/2008 20:36

Well I can't do Tues, Weds or Thurs. But can do other days. Will have to think of an excuse of where I'm going cos if I tell him I'm going to meet people off the internet I might get in trouble. lol

Amani · 09/06/2008 21:17

Lucky - call it a child development meeting

Would anyone like to add any comments to my thread I've started re:eczema

madmouse · 09/06/2008 22:05

Lucky by then I will be a respectable minister's wife does that help?

LuckySalem · 09/06/2008 22:07

hmmmm - maybe lets see.

ME: "Dp I'm going to meet the mumsnet mums"
DP: "Do you think thats safe? You don't know them they might by murderers"
ME: "ahh but one is a ministers wife, so it'll be ok"
DP: "so she says, how do you know its not the minister himself and has wierd ideas?"
ME: "oh grow up"

lol

barristermum · 09/06/2008 22:17

Hi gals!
As ever missed you all. Work has been full on with the case sitting long hours and we've been away every weekend. Last weekend we took Cerys to her ancestral home of Swansea. She tasted the very tip of her first Joe's Ice cream (legendary swansea secret recipe ice cream cafes) and paddled in the sea for the first time. She was completely underwhelmed by both experiences - found them both too cold I expect! As the sea rolled towards her she looked at me meaningfully as if to say "you are going to pick me up in a moment aren't you?" and was thoroughly disgusted when I didn't, tho' in fairness she didn't protest only looked cross.
Are anyone else's babies finding the hot weather a bit much. It is 26/27'c (where is the degree symbol?) in her room and she is sleeping in only a light cotton suit and no other bedding over her but she had a temperature last night and has done 2 projectile vomits in the last 24 hours. In herself she has been fine and apparently unaffected and her temperature has gone. I don't know if she picked up a slight temp I had on saturday which has gone now, if it's the weather, if her insides object to the baby rice or carrot I have given her for the first time in the last few days which seemed to go down fine or something more serious than either. And of course I feel terrible leaving her, even tho' she looks thoroughly fine when I go through the door.
Sorry for no personals - have still got some work this evening and am going to feed my girl her dream feed and see if she's ok.But love you all and hope you and your babies are ok - better than ok, thriving!

gingeme · 09/06/2008 22:17

Lol madmouse could be worse we were caught once by ds2. I think he was about 7 at the time
We had a similur conversation when I had my first meet up with my October thread. Turned out they were all lovely ladies after all
Justkeepswimming our flat is always boiling. We have two fans in the front room. Our flat seems to be split on two the front room and boys bedroom is always bathed in sun where as the bathroom and kitchen and our room is always in the shade so lovely and cool.
Its very rarely we stay in anyway. We go out as much as possible on dry days.
Whats everyone getting dh/dp's for fathers day ? Ive got dh a thing that looks like the front page of a newspaper with 'Dad of the year' as the headlines and a photo of dh and a piece that looks like the boys have been interviewed. Very clever.
Anyway off to bed after Eastenders.
Goodnight all xxx

gingeme · 09/06/2008 22:20

xpost barriestermum.
Glad your all ok. Sounds like you had fun at the weekend. All my boys have had high temps and a bit of vomiting over the past few weeks. All passed on its own and all fine now. Take care. xx

simpson · 09/06/2008 22:58

simpson · 09/06/2008 23:23

thanks L.S!!

Does your DD totally hate the heat? Feel the worlds worst mum today as ds (2.9) did have sun cream on but not enough and had burnt face when he went to bed so had obviously not put enough on!!

Luckily was totally paranoid about DD and she was ok.

madmouse · 10/06/2008 08:50

Hi Simson. Surely your dd is not that tiny? My Nathan is a few days younger (1/2/08) and only weighs about a pound more. Tbh he is fairly low on the centiles but so chubby! Mind you I am 5ft5 and dh is 5.6 so what do you expect

gingeme · 10/06/2008 09:58

Welcome Simson
Where about do you live? We are having a meet up on the 24th at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Your welcome to join us.
Hello everyone else. Beautiful day again. Lo still has his cough but it tsn'e making him bring up his milk any more.
Hes got his last lot of jabs Thursday morning.
Park this afternoon.
Take care xx

susiemj · 10/06/2008 12:02

Hello Simpson! My DD is only about 13lb something. Someone has to be small! And she was born on the first of January. Small babies rock!

I'm beiong brave today and NOT going to get Sabela weighed. We've done it every week and she's always gained consistently. She'll always be a little girl, I think. But that's not too bad. I think I'm going to go every two weeks now.

Anyone else still go?

Gingeme - Hope jabs go ok. At least they've had all these vaccines before.

JKS - I hate it when they won't nap! HOpe you're having a peaceful day today. Soemone once suggested that babies are really on a 48 hour schedule and Sabela does seem to have one wakey day and one sleepy day.

I'm having some success with the pram. We've been out for two short walks with no crying. My parasol is getting on my nerves though. Anyone got a good one?
