Susie I got one off Ebay its an actual sunshade which is like an extension of the hood of the buggy iyswim?
I have also won on Ebay (Ebay addict here ) a swiss bibi stroller erm thingy. It looks like the back part of a penny farthing which you attach to the side of your buggy and the older child sits on it. We have a buggy board too which my cousin is currently borrowing so well have a choice. I am lending our double buggy to my friend whos expecting her 4th baby next Feb so my 19 month will be old enough to use it by then.
We are doing a sponsored toddle on the 29th for Barnados. Looks like a good day as they do face painting and a pic nic and that sort of thing. All at our local park.

susiemj · 10/06/2008 12:32

E-bay addict too! IS it s shade-a-babe?

gingeme · 10/06/2008 12:35

Erm don't know what its called. Its white and shades baby down to the toes. You can fold it in half. The material just slips off for washing. I hang loads of toys off it for George to look at. It clamps on to the sides of the buggy.

simpson · 10/06/2008 13:01

Hi

Thanks for welcome!

Gingeme - thanks for invite to meet up. Live in Uxbridge so V & A is doable but have to go to to DS pre school to meet his teacher as he is starting in Sept. Maybe next one. Also think I have same sun shade as you but mine is black. Its fab though!!

Madmouse - Everytime anyone sees DD They comment on how little she is. DS weighed 15lbs at the same age!!Neither me or DH is very tall either so she is obviously going to take after us!

Susie - I got DD weighed last fri and I won't bother going again for a few weeks it is such a hassle!

Also can't remember who mentioned the toddle walk but DS did it last year and loved it he got stickers and a little medal!!

lilyloo · 10/06/2008 13:08

Hey all we are back safe and sound !

No chance of catching up so if anything happened if you could give me round up !

Well Martha loved the hol as did we , she was a star , slept all way there and back on plane and was great over there too.
Am now sinking under washing and ironing but it was all worth it.

How is everyone , hope you all good was no net over there so no chance of catching up so did lot's of reading instead!

OP posts:
gingeme · 10/06/2008 13:42

Welcome back lillyloo. Glad the hols went well and lo was good. Did she not scream as you took off/landed because of ears popping?
Simpson we had the starting school interview this time last year. Hes going to reception this Sept. Where has the time gone?
George has just woken from a mammoth sleep he went down at 10.15am and woke about 10 mins ago. Currently guzzeling his bottle now.

lilyloo · 10/06/2008 14:00

No she was fine i fed her on the way up and she nodded off and didn't even wake up on the way down!

Just to let anyone know who is getting mat pay when you fill in your tax credit renewal you can discount £100 per week of your mat pay from your yearly income. I just realised this and have never claimed it before as didn't realise

Hi all

We are staying with family getting ready for my dad's 60th. LO has had his first cold and I am absolutely loaded too. It's been difficult I just want to curl up with hot lemon but have to deal with snuffly baby so can't

Hi Simpson my DS was born on 29 Jan too!

I'll be interested to see the prog tomorrow about Britain's Biggest Babies. As you remember ALek was born 10lb 14. Bit annoyed about the blurb implying its because the mums eat junk food, though. DH and I ate really well, we both like cooking and eat fresh food generally. I had to keep off the sugar as I had very high sugar in wee. I'm sure that's something to do with why he grew so big. He's still big - over 19lb now, 19 weeks. He gained 6 oz a week when I was BF but the last couple of weeks he has been gaining 8-9 despite spewing formula a lot!!

HV says nothing to worry about though. He is not really fat, just large-scale. Last couple of days has taken baby rice OK and noticeably vomits less after feeds - hurrah!

LuckySalem · 10/06/2008 22:03

Right - Spent the day at Mum's today which was nice. DD has been a lovely girl although didn't fancy "proper" dinner today, I don't mind though - its only to stop her being sick. She was playing in a bucket at mum's which she adored - was really funny.

We're going to Llandudno tomorrow which will be nice - first time in the sea (scared of how it'll effect her eczema but i'm sure she'll be ok) We're going to see some wierd alice in wonderland thingie.

Just bought her a sippy cup and a bottle with a hole in the middle (so she can hold it) as she loves her juice I thought it might do her good to try holding it herself. Tried it today and she' not strong enough to tip it so although i'm going to keep using it for her juice I'm not going to push her into holding it.

Amani - Hope you had a better sleep
Simpson - DD not a big fan of the heat but as long as you keep her out of direct sunlight she seems ok. It's 28 degrees in our room so she's just got a vest on tonight.
mixedmama - I had a quick look at your thread but i'm afraid don't know how to help. I hope everything is ok and you got some good results.

Everyone else - i'm really sorry I didn't reply personally and hope your all ok!

Oh and ARE WE STILL HAVING A BIRMINGHAM MEET?

justkeepswimming · 11/06/2008 05:52

right, have surfed around, checked emails & news, and there's still nearly half an hour to go before i want ds1 to wake up!
he woke at 5, woke ds2, then i managed to get him back to bed, but the damage was done, now downstairs with ds2 waiting for time to pass...

lucky - have a lovely day out are you watering down her juice? just if she gets used to strong fruit juice now, you might find it hard to get her to drink anything else when she's older?

simpson - hi my ds2 was born 21st jan. welcome and hope you find it helpful & supportive on here.

ange - just as someone has to be small, so someone has to be big. but yes, were you tested for gestational diabetes? sounds like you had it even if it didn't show up. i saw one thing about big babies a while back and they all had it basically just they didn't know. so i wonder what's the biggest baby without gd? what channel is it, will try and watch later.
hope the family thing is going ok?

mixedm - not sure, guess you have to back to basics, lists of pros and cons of each decision. nice to have the job offer tho and to get rid of the other woman
job security atm is prob worth quite a bit, but kids are only young once....

nicky - bring your mum if she's not scared off by us that is! hope you can make it, forgotten already what's the test? is it a stressful one that you shd really be at home revising/relaxing for?

lilyloo - welcome home how's the laundry...! glad you all had a good time. don't know about all the allowances, i'm getting an occupational maternity pay thing which is different i think

susie - think the 48hr thing might be true. OR he was teething and perhaps if i'd given him just a half dose of calpol he might have had a lovely long sleep (erm, oops, mummy error!). ah well, he seems happy enough this morning, at 5 am!!!
well done with the pram, we have a pepeny shade thing that ties onto any buggy, quite good but can stick out a bit at the sides.
re weighing - since my bf group lost it's hv i've only had ds2 weighed once! i like to get the dots in the book (cos i'm anal like that) but can't be bothered with the faff of going elsewhere, and dragging ds1 along too.
figure my arms are aching so he's getting heavier

gingeme - that penny farthing thing sounds good. i have been given a buggy board, just haven't figured out which buggy to try and attach it to. must give ds1 the chance of trying it tho i think he will just run off...
ds1's room gets the sun during the day so i have learnt to leave the curtains shut for the morning so it's not too hot for naptime. our kitchen is always cold - great in summer, not so great in winter when it's freezing!
having spent time in africa growing up, i love the sound of a ceiling fan, especially going to bed, think i would like one in my bedroom

barristermum - am impressed with your brain power, dealing with work and stress, etc. my brain is so mushy now and i can't see how i would manage at a proper job!

right, think that's long enough, sorry if i didn't get back as far as you, a general hello will have to do sorry!

ds1 off to nursery, then ds2 and i are checking out a poss pre-school for ds1 for next year (starting on the road to school already, terrifying!), then annual trip to vets with both cats (what fun trying to catch them both, take them both to vets with baby in tow, not). then a few hours relaxing hopefully.

ps argh re cats last 2 days: cat sick and live mouse, nice....
not convinced but think they have managed to bring mouse back in, argh argh argh argh!

lilyloo · 11/06/2008 09:48

morning all
wow jks think they don't count £100 per week of any mat pay. I am getting stat pay and occupational pay too.

Is everyone feeding their lo's now ? Martha still ebf and hasn't had any food as yet other than a suck of watermelon on hol

OP posts:
justkeepswimming · 11/06/2008 10:32

snap lilyloo - ds2 has sucked on a watermelon piece and a piece of pear the other day, seemed to really like both - then dh said that was weaning and i said it wasn't, so i haven't give him anything else as i didn't want to wean him yet! silly argument but there you go...

waiting till he can sit up in a high chair properly i think as an indicator then will go the blw route, can't be *rsed to puree and freeze second time round

so of course he nearly sat up properly this morning! no henry, wait a few more weeks ok?!

susiemj · 11/06/2008 10:36

Morning!

JKS - you're right about the dots inthe book! I like them too!

Lily - welcome home. Glad the trip was good. I'm still bf Sabela with a couple of ounces of formula in the evening. She's 5 months plus 1 week now but I don't think we're going to start feeding her solids until almost 7 motnhs because we're going away. ~I gave her a bit of water in a cup yesterday and she didn't like it so i don't think she's ready anyway.

Just going to have alook Mixedmama

Lucky - I have eczema and the sea is good for it! Hope she enjoys her paddle.

Can't believe it - Even when Sabela sleeps well I still wake up. I woke up at 1 and 3 yesterday. I ended up waking HER to feed her at 3.45 as I thought I may as well. I think bodyclock is way off kilter.

AND I discovered that the hood on my pram moves round to function as a sunshade (I THINK that's what it's for). Grr. Needn't have bought parasol. Still it's useful for the garden. I lay her under it.

My friend is home from hospital TWO DAYS after emergency c-section. I'm shocked. I was in for 7 days afterwards. 5 days was standard. Has anyone else had this?

gingeme · 11/06/2008 10:43

Morning all.
Oh justkeepswimming I totaly sympothise. Not sure what with but I feel your stress just reading your post. Hope your day pans out and the trip to the vet is a success.
lillyloo George has 8oz of Aptamil followed by a bit of 'something' mostly 3 times a day. He doesn't feed 4 hourly like my other boys used to. He generaly has breakfast at 9am which is a bottle and porridge or baby rice with some Ellas kitchen pouch mixed in. Then he'll have lunch about 2.30 bottle and some Heinz baby veg meal then a bottle about 6 and depending how tired he is sometimes will have the rest of the Ellas kitchen pouch.
He also loves Farleys rusk.
Good point on the juice front jkw. I'm just giving George water every now and then though he's not that impressed. When I gave the other boys juice I always realy diluted it even though it says on the bottle its already diluted. Neither of them will drink water on its own unless its fizzy with a bit of flavour to it.
Seem to have fallen into a good morning routine here at the mo. As I said George will have his breakfast about 9 and will have finnished and be washed and dressed about 10 then Edward, my 19 month has his nap about 10.30 and so does George A couple of hours peace. aaahhhh.......

susiemj · 11/06/2008 10:55

Gingeme!

gingeme · 11/06/2008 11:00

Sssshhhhh.......don't shout susie

susiemj · 11/06/2008 11:03

Would you believe it! I just got a bloody annoying 'computer' phonecall and it's woken up Sabela. Grrrrrrrrrr

justkeepswimming · 11/06/2008 12:41

blardy annoying susie!

gingeme - hope you enjoyed your peace! ds2 had a 45mins nap, where have his long several hour naps gone????

lily - will ask dh re allowances, i'm not the money person in this house!

susie - i came home 2 days after em c-s with henry, had him at 4am mon, home at 10am wed. couldn't wait to get out of there! they did say i could go tues afternoon but would prob be back in with problems, would normally have kept me to thurs morning i think but let me out early (not for good behaviour i don't think!). depends on the person, first-timers i would think would want longer in there, maybe to have help bfding or just get over the shock. i wanted to be at hom and see ds1 and in my own bed! and feeding wasn't an issue for me.

well, dropped ds1 off at nursery no probs, went to visit his poss pre-school (a walk away instead of a drive to nursery), seems v nice, he could start in sept! i was thinking jan or may next year... then home, cats to vets (got him to worm them, so much easier), lunch, window cleaner (had forgotten about him, luckily scrounged enough cash from the change pot!), not wondering how to spend my 3.5hrs of toddler-free time.... sun is shining and grey clouds, walk or not....hmmm

right, waffling sorry! back later!

simpson · 11/06/2008 12:49

Morning all!!

Just got back from picking DS up from his playgroup. Woman running it said he did the biggest poo ever and she had to change his nappy, so at least its one less poo for me!! Just wish he would go on the potty though (sigh)

We got £50 of M & S vouchers in post this morning for "recommending" someone to sky. Am hoping DH will let me spend them on myself!!

DD not in the best of moods today but she did start the day at 6.00am which is not like her so probably tired. Going to get highchair out of loft this weekend in preparation!! Going to wash it down in shower first!

lilyloo · 11/06/2008 13:23

ooh mucky highchairs another good reason to delay the weaning Simpson

OP posts:
mixedmama · 11/06/2008 14:29

hola all....

well i have decided to take the mornign job.. seems a large bulk of time might be better than 2.5 hours int he morn and 2.5 at night.

Re: weaning. I tried ds2 with some baby rice a while back but he wasnt interested so we will probably get to the six month mark.

I tend to stick with water mainly but DS1 has recently started actually askign for juice so now I allow him to have juice once a day (with dinner or lunch) and he seems happy. also, i am tryign to stick to water myself so just easier. He does have milkshake though as that is the only way he will drink milk at the minute and has started asking for tea when we have some, so when i take my tea bag out i put it in his mug put in the tiniest amount of water and some warm milk and he thinks he is having tea with us.... he loves it, he gets so excited.

I am picking up my bumbo seat from my mums today so that DS2 can start sitting up more... he really liked it when i dropped him off today.

JKS - I got given a buggy board the other day and whilst DS1 sort of likes it, he would rather walk so he has now got into the habit of walking and is doing really well so quite pleased, but it folds up anyway so doesnt really get in the way.

Have to get myself a new sling though as my mum accidentaly threw mine away, have seen one that lasts till 18 months and basically sits on your hip. Means i only have to take my zippy mcclaren out and ds2 can generally be in it but if DS2 gets tired he can get in and i can use the sling.

ahhh the logistics of transporting children.

mixedmama · 11/06/2008 14:31

lily - i am going feed DS1 in his bumbo seat and get rid of my mucky high cair... i have one of those chairs that strap to a big chair and folds up so will revert to that if needs be or worse case get a plastic one that straps to the chair.... high chairs are just so big as well.
