hi perapera welcome

My Nathan is 2 days younger than your dd

I am also still bf, but have bought baby rice today which i am planning to try soon

Nathan feeds about 6 or seven times a day including once at night, but he is efficient so does not take forever.

lucky why not make your own, much cheaper and better.

Afternoon ladies. A coooler household today re Georges temperature. He went up to 104 last night so went to bed in just his nappy. Woke at 12 for 4oz of milk then slept till 7.40. Hes been a bit grizzly today and dribbling like mad so Im keeping an eye out for teeth.
Welcome perapera is your dd your first child?
Weaning, everyone has there own pace of doing things lucky but the way I do it is like this: Week 1 First bottle of the day 7.30 then some baby rice or porridge.
Week 2 First bottle 7.30 of the day then some rice or porridge.
Lunch 11.30 bottle of milk with some pureed veg or powdered food from Heinz.
Week 3 the same breakfast and lunch then introduce dinner at 3.30.
Don't forget at the moment baby is reliant on their milk for their main nutricional needs and the food is a bit extra at the moment so if their not keen on something don't panic just try it again at a different date.
Hope that helps.

MM - I keep reading how things can upset their guts so i'm sticking to tried and tested things until she's 6 months. Then ill give her homemade stuff.

I found in tesco's they're doing Hipp 10 for £4.00 which I could swallow so I just went and bought 20 lol

Cheers for the plans gingeme. She's had breakfast for a week and half so It's about right to introduce lunch now.

I want to know where all the powdered savoury food has gone 4-6 month stage? I have bought some jars but if he doesn't like them they go to waste iyswim? I have been buying Ellas Kitchen pouches which he seems to be enjoying but I find the powdered one are easy too.

Will look out for them lucky

regarding your question about religion: You can teach your dd about the religions of the world and she can make up her own mind. Don't teach her anything you do not believe in.

I come from a home where my parents were certainly not Christian and were in fact bitterly disappointed in the church. They never put anything in my way though and I very much have a living Christian faith (since I was about 20, but it started earlier) and in fact met dh in the student church at my uni .

My dad and stepmum have attended my baptism and confirmation etc and are keen to attend Nathan's baptism.

It won't let me upload them and I have the cutest picture of Aaliyah as piglet.

Anyone have facebook? lol I don't know if this will work

I'm going to just hope she doesn't ask and makes up her own mind as I just know if she asks i'll get all tongue tied (same as I will when sex comes up... lol)

works for me and it is a seriously cute picture! Funny to see you in real life though. If you want to add me as a friend my first name is Inger and you will recognise me as I have Nathan as a profile pic!

very cute lucky she looks so bright eyed.

dh doesnt want me to upload any pics - as our job makes you a bit weird about it - seen too many child porn cases so am hoping to see a few at the v and a then you can see charlie

she has such a bad cold ( caught from me) that cough this morning brought up all milk - saved winding though annoying as we were meant to start swimming tomorrow but i suppose i shouldnt now

Hi all,

We're just getting over colds and things here. Hope yours are all better Gingeme!

Despite all your advice (sorry!) we've bought a pretty conventional highchair. It's all adjustable and has a removable tray. Sabela loves it. She sits in it for ages with her little hands up on the armrests like a mini Bond villain. It was £60 so not too bad a price and I think it looks quite nice too.

We're having Sabela baptised a Catholic as Daddy is but I'm a very low church protestant (Mum was a Quaker and I'm much more in sympathy with that style of things although haven't been to the meetings here yet). We go to the Catholic church here sometimes. so I'm not quite sure what we'll do. Muddle through I guess.

I can't believe Sabela is 5 months old today!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone

yes, DD is my first baby

I'm interested in all this talk of high chairs - when are they able to sit in them? I can't imagine DD being able to sit in one - I think she'd just flop forward or to the side after about 10 seconds. Are the babies who are nearer five months sitting up without support?

lol on the bond baddie
Had a rough night. ds3 woke at 10.30 just wanted a drink and a wee. Soon settled.
ds4 woke at 11.30 not sure why but took an hour to settle after a bum change, drink, cuddles and some Calpol
ds5 woke at 4.30 had his bottle, bum change and took aaaaaaages to do a burp so he settled back after an hour.
Ds's 3 and 4 woke at 6.55 to start their day. Left them to play for an hour then got up and gave them breakfast leaving ds5 to sleep till about 9 where dh got up and gave him his breakfast. ds3 has gone back to bed for his usual 11am nap now.
I just hate getting up feeling so so tired but still have to muster the energy to keep them all entertained
Ah well looking forward to the meet up. Any dayes yet nicky6?
Going to a farmers market this afternoon. Hope you are all having a good day xx

Hi Perapera,

Sabela - my DD - can sort of sit up but she seems to get enough support from the chair. In fact, she hates the chair or her pushchair in a reclining position. She likes to supervise and survey all around her!

Report
LuckySalem · 01/06/2008 13:13

perpera - DD does slouch in the chair but she is VERY secure and very happy in it. I think she needs to grow a little more and then will be sorted.

She does sit pretty much unaided now so I think she slouches on purpose. In fact those who can see facebook i've just uploaded some more. One of which is her sitting on my knee on her own.

MM - I can't find you. I need a clue. Is inger your surname or first name? lol.

Yesterday (I think it was yesterday anyway they're all kinda blurring) aaliyah was gurgling away as usual and managed to say Hiya. Now me, I thought it was cute and congratulated her then moved on. DP however, is sure she's talking and keeps saying "DADADADADADADADADA" to her. It's really funny.

So have I MM - hope you don't mind.

just to remind people we have a Facebook group of January(ish) Mumsnetters, to which Beller, Awen and others not so recently seen on here belong, if anyone interested who is not already in the group. Not that we have chatted recently on there either!?

MIL is gone... I dropped so many hints about babysitting but she remained oblivious til 9.30 last night when I had to directly ask her if she minded if Dh and I popped out to the pub for an hour. WHich was so nice. What has happened to pubs - they all seem to be dying a death - since the baccy ban i suppose.

DS seems a little unsettled since i put him on the bottle. My milk seems to have gone for a burton now . Boobs a bit painful but did it so gradually hoping they will be OK.

gawd - can't keep track on here.

am on the facebook group too (Katy)

Love all the photos, really MUST get some new ones on, i get so far behind, only printed out ds1's first year ones when on mat leave with ds2!

that sun night feeling dh off tomorrow morning early not back til after bedtime thurs.
got a friend coming tonight til tues am so that will be a distraction.

Not started weaning yet, holding out as long as poss, tho ds2 was eyeing up ds1's breadstick yesterday was tempted to give it to him but held out. will we make it to 6mo??? will anyone else?

ds1 slept til 6am hooray thinking of a face chart for him, a smiling mummy face for 6am+ and a sad mummy face for before 6, dunno if that might be mean tho!?
ds2 up at 3.50, feed, noises, then up at 5.30, we came downstairs again, grr. we had it sorted til ds1 started messing about.
ah well, sure it will calm down again, some day.....

so sorry not answering your questions, can't keep up.

mixedm (i think) - re favouritism; i think others have made good points about time to get to know the child in question.
i get that overwhelming feeling more often with ds1 than 2 but sure it is because he is doing so much more, poor ds2 can hardly compete.
does that help?
as for gparents and dh, that's not nice. tho maybe dh is feeling the same as me? esp those men who struggle to bond with babies, but like kids when they are football-kicking age? trying here

gingeme - loved the poo story

right, off to let someone else have a go
