DP made us watch hostel while DD was asleep in my arms at about 5 weeks old!

simpson · 23/06/2008 22:28

I forgot to say obviously DS was in the front room when we were watching film - moses basket on sofa. Have seen Hostel now thats sick!!

LuckySalem · 23/06/2008 22:29

I didn't like either of them! lol

Forgot to say in my other post. I gave DD a whole banana this morning to play with eat. What a mess!! lol. I had to chuck her in the bath afterwards!

simpson · 23/06/2008 22:38

I can't wait to start weaning DD. Only another 5 weeks to go!! We are going to have to buy another freezer I think as we struggle for space in the one we have and thats for 3 of us. With DDs food as well its just too small. Ho Hum more money to spend...

fillybuster · 23/06/2008 23:04

hi all
i'm a week behind on here and promise faithfully to catch up properly tomorrow but just wanted to apologise to nicky, gingeme and katie that I won't be able to make tomorrows' meetup.
in short, I'm a lightweight , but Tamara is not a sling-able baby and the thought of trekking across London on the tube (especially given the vile amount of stairs at my local station) in order to spend about an hour at the meetup (because I'll have to leg it to pick up ds from nursery by 3pm latest) has made me wimp out. Now, I know that given JKS's valiant cross-country efforts, and Mixedmama's impressive 2 kids on the bus/train/tube with an 8 week old baby for the last meetup, that is exceptionally pants but Tamara has been out of sorts the last few days and I really can't face schlepping a whining/screaming/crying baby who would rather be at home halfway across London for such a short amount of time... ...sorry....
...grovel...

MrsBakerGirl · 24/06/2008 08:46

Morning all!

Perapera - how did the blackout blinds go down?

Simpson - will def let you know about Hillingdon night out - think it is going to be Chinese Elvis!

MrsBakerGirl · 24/06/2008 08:50

Simpson - have a good time at the lido! If you happen to see a babies beige fishermans style hat on your travels, then its my DS2 - it belonged to my DS1 and was my favourite. Fell out of my pram at the lido yesterday. There must be a world of lost hats as it is the third one I have lost from my buggy! You think I would have learnt my lesson by now!

Anyway great weather for it!

LuckySalem · 24/06/2008 09:13

Well watched Saw last night and it's not as gorey as the last one but very clever. It ties up all the loose ends, brings back an old character, plenty of twists and some of the fancy little shots they do to get from scene to scene are both amazing and creepy sometimes.

Aaliyah had toast this morning (bit of mine) and she didn't eat it as such she just sucked on it.

She's 6 months week on wednesday!

mixedmama · 24/06/2008 09:25

MrsBaker - is that the Chinese Elvis that was on weakest kink he was strange.... did anyone see it there was an elvis called gino who was in the GI uniform who was so hot... Any way I digress.

Filly....FWIW I only got on buses to the last meet up so it wasnt that hard. If I was coming to V&A I would have got there by getting on about 3 buses for 2 hours or something as I just cannot do tubes with pushchair. Am at home today as DS1 done some spectacular vommitting (why can i not spell that word) this morning so am at home, but of coursenow it is going to look like i am avoiding colleague....it was going to be our last day at toddler group today but cant go now.

Ange - it seems that most people on this thread have started some sort of weaning, even if it is just a tiny bit so I really would just go at your own pace and not worry too much about others. I am still only at the very beginning and taking my time with it.

TBH in RL I dont actually know anyone who has waited until the actual six months altho we are getting closer and Ithink JKS is hoping to make it too.

I have seen the 1st two SAW films and am not into that kind of thing really but I do like the psyc behind it all.

simpson · 24/06/2008 10:21

Morning all!

Lucky - might have to get the film Saw4 out now.I heard it is the last one and they won't make any more.

Mrs BakersGirl - will look out for your hat!! DS is very excited about going likes the beach.

Mixed mama - hope DS1 better soon. Pity you had to miss toddler group.

Have to go get ready for our day out! Take loads of bottles etc. Am also packing a packed lunch for DS.

Enjoy meet up whoever is going. I hope to make the next one.

lilyloo · 24/06/2008 10:43

Have lovely time at meet up today ladies.
Can't believe our lo's are nearly half a year old already
Well still rough night here but funnily enough i don't feel too bad today.
I have now decided that i will have to come round to her way of thinking and accept her sleep patterns rather than wishing for a full nights sleep and i do feel better about it.
Still not got a high chair so not really weaning yet just giving her a bit of veg to hold/ suck if se is carrying on at tea time.
Simpson if you go the blw route you shouldn't need to store anymore food in your freezer.
MM hope ds better soon.

Well off to some housework and then i am going to be observed doing a bf for my sisters friend who is training to be a midwife!

OP posts:
mixedmama · 24/06/2008 11:09

I do want to give BLW a try but just dont have the confidence with the not choking element. I know loads of people do it, but i think i am wimping out and will need to clear some space in my freezer too....plus cant imagine getting much support for BLW from ILs who will prob just try and gezumpme with jars again. Need to buy a steamer and blender / smoothie maker as mine all died a death.

MrsBakerGirl · 24/06/2008 15:44

Hi

Could anyone enlighten me on what Baby Led Weaning is - never heard of it.

Mixedmama - Chinese Elvis not the one on Weakest Link - saw that too! U have to see this one to believe it! Hope DS feeling better!

Simpson - hope DS enjoyed his day at the beach.

Amani · 24/06/2008 15:59

Hi to everyone, not been on for a while but DD2 improving at night, wakign up twice only for about 1/2 hr each time...

fillybuster · 24/06/2008 16:37

Hi all,

I was brave and decided to risk the whole tube thing and go to the meetup with the buggy....so pleased I did as lots of nice people helped with the various sets of stairs (of which there were, admittedly, a lot!) and I got to see Gingeme, JKS and meet Nicky for the first time too!!

Thanks ladies for a lovely outing - I even got home in time to collect ds from nursery so am generally feeling pleased with the world. Off out now to the neighbours for a playdate...probably proving how desperately I need you lot to help me escape N2!!!

Nicky - Tamara downed 7ozs as soon as we got home (she slept right up until the front door tho), so now I feel like a really bad mum...but thanks so much for the attempted loan of the bottle! I won't be doing that again in a hurry...

Hugs to all, waves to Mixedmama - hope you're all feeling better?
xxx

PS Welcome to MrsBakerGirl and welcome back to Perapera

susiemj · 24/06/2008 16:42

Hi All - feeling slightly more human today as DH looked after DD yesterday afternoon and I had five hours' sleep before bedtime. Bless him! We're going to do that for a couple of days for me to recover and then get started on the No Cry Sleep solution. I don't know what it consists of yet but the mummies I get on with best in town like this book the best, so it's a chance it'll suit us. We did decide to go hardcore with the cot and swaddling. Feels liek a watershed time.

She did sleep in her cot for a couple of hours last night and a short while today. Better than zero minutes, as yesterday! The rest of the time she was with DH downstairs or with me.

Things that helped I think yesterday were knotted muslin and mummy-smelling tshirt. Thanks to whoever suggested them.

Sabela had a rusk yesterday - which she adored but I didn;t realise it had sugar in it. Silly mummy! And I was going to be so pure! She doesn't think much of pear. Tomato still a winner!

Hello Mixedmama, Simpson, Filly.

Welcome MrsBaker!

I won fab things on ebay! I got a cot bumper, musical mobile, lampshade and curtains for £23.50. They arrived today and they're fab. I love ebay!

Ange - I hate getting told off on here. People seem very ready to jump in feet first sometimes. (Not on this thread! ) And it's usually by someone who hasn't read your post properly either. I'm sure what you're doing is fine. I know someone who has been told to wean her 4 month old by a paediatrician on rucks dissolved in milk. Her daughter has a puky problem too. Keep meaning to ask - what is your link to SPain?

Madmouse - congratulations on the move. Grr to broadband mees up.

Bmum - well done for keeping it all going. I'm impressed! Hope the trial is going well.

Lucky - thanks for advice. Sounds liek good stuff, although I can;t imagine Sabela going so long wihtout a feed. Does it work with BF babies? Can't remember if you still were then. I can't believe we're at 6 months either! I put away her bouncy chair yesterday - which we hadn't used for ages and both DH and I had a little melting moment. Our girl is growing up!

Frag - thanks for the advice. The tshirt thing was good last night. I wonder how long the smell lasts

Hope you had fun at the meet up Gingeme and all. Very jealous. I fancy a natter and I'd love to see you and your LOs.

Lilyloo - how are the under eyes today?

susiemj · 24/06/2008 16:43

Hi AMani - hang on in there!

gingeme · 24/06/2008 17:35

Afternoon ladies. I have been to my parents for the weekend so Im not even goign to attempt to catch up with the thread.
Welcome to all the new comers. Hope you find us a friendly lot.
Had a lovely meet up today. It was lovely to meet nicky6 for the first time with her angelic lo. I feel very pink and sore now though Think I was half in and half out of the sun. Ah well as long as George was ok. Glad Tamara filled her belly and had a sleep.
Well am off to make some dinner.
Hope everyone is well.

justkeepswimming · 24/06/2008 18:18

welcome newcomers

meetup lovely

had a minor panic after leaving you gingeme as district line was 'suffering severe, i repeat severe, delays, take the first available train, etc...'
time suddenly seemed far too short to get home and get to nursery for ds1.
so did a quick change to piccadilly, green park, west ham and got home in time for a wee, drink & grab car keys and off we went. so all fine in the end. phew.
ds1 just been liberally spraying everything except plants watering the tomato plants & sunflower seeds fireman sam, charlie & lola then bathtime, tho he is so wet already i don't know why i bother!

well off to orchestra later so won't get a chance to get back on till tomorrow, good night wishes for all

simpson · 24/06/2008 18:19

Had an absolutely FAB day at Ruislip Lido. DS thought we were on holiday as he played on beach and had ice cream etc. Weather great too. Had a bit of a nightmare journey back on public transport though. Before Ruislip Lido we went to DS's appointment at his new pre school. His start date is 25th Sept. Got to see his classroom too. But he seems tiny compared to the kids there. I hope he will be ok.

Lilyloo - I am a pants cook and usually freeze lots of food for DS and defrost it a day in advance. Want to make sweetcorn frittas, fishcakes etc in big batch. But I guess DD won't eat much to start with.

Mrs BakerGirl - my DS loved the playground at the Lido especially the little wooden house. He liked it so much he ate his packed lunch in it!! BLW is baby led weaning where you give them what you eat (without salt) ie steamed veg, toast, pasta, chicken etc and they just gum it.

Amani - glad things improving for you.

Fillybuster - how is weaning going for you?Glad you made meet up. I will have to brave those steps next time!

Susiemj- Hope things continue to get better. Fingers X on more sleep tonight.

Gingeme- Hope you enjoyed your w/e at parents.

simpson · 24/06/2008 18:23

X post JKS - We had nightmare with trains too today. Signal failure at Rayners Lane, no underground at all! the queue for the buses was out of this world we had both DCs in buggies and 30 mins off rush hour! Was starting to panic a bit then station reopened thank God!!

lilyloo · 24/06/2008 18:41

Susie - You said you gave her a bottle at night so that should hold her over. I wasn't exclusive bfing. She had BF as her first feed and 2nd to last feed of the day.
I'm forbidden from going on ebay now! DP says DD has enough stuff.

Simpson - Saw4 has an ending that allows for another. I've just checked on the IMDB and there is a Saw 5 in post production. Set for release early next year. Also there is a Saw 6 showing on the IMDB. I wonder where the end is going to be?

Has anyone invested the child trust fund voucher yet? I still have mine and the deadline is approaching but I don't know where to put it. It's all so confusing.

MrsBakerGirl · 24/06/2008 19:49

Hi LuckySalem

www.fandc.com/new/it/default.aspx?id=78397

My DH is a banker (zzzzzz.....) and he spent days searching for the best place for my DD and DS trust fund! Funny that ..... I was more interested in whether they looked cute in their outfits and whether I had matching socks and hats!!!!!!

He invested it in F&C - and thought it was the best one! I have put a link but I am mot sure it works! But just google F&C.

Hope that helps!

God you lot are brave going on trains with LOs - can't imagine going on one for years with my DTs - well not on my own anyway!

Simpson - glad u had a good day! must take my DS1 there in school hols.

Perapera - did the blinds work so well that you are still sleeping. Fingers crossed.
